- I spent 100 Days in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (the new harvest moon remake) trying to 100% the game as fast as I could! I was surprised with how much money I could make and how many wonders I could collect in two and a half in-game years. This video is full of tips, tricks, and is essentially a walkthrough on how to play the game! I hope you enjoy it!

@@redmagejack I played a little harvest moon DS, but the new characters always brought out the purist in me that said, "How dare you introduce people outside of AWL" lol
Flora isn't marriage candidate in OG and EVEN in SoS??? She isn't even problematic and if anything it's Daryl, like why??? As a gay guy this feels like an insult to just make her a DS-exclusive bachelorette, but not as equally bad as Gotz's case, they never have the idea or guts to turn Gotz into a single dad bachelor and even remade his design worse in SoS version.
Every time he says "Forgotten Valley" it makes me feel deep, immense pain inside. I know the Story of Seasons version calls it Forgotten Valley, but I grew up with the original Harvest Moon version on GameCube - in fact, I still have it in my collection - and they always called it Forget-Me-Not Valley, which honestly makes more sense in my opinion. I know I probably sound like a grouchy purist, but changing the name doesn't make much sense. It's not like the Super Mario RPG remake, where they had to change Mack's name to Claymorton because of copyright reasons. Unless the original name of Forget-Me-Not Valley is owned by the new Harvest Moon company, which seems highly unlikely considering that pretty much every other name in the game remains consistent. It's a very small change in the grand scheme of things, but it's one that I feel very strongly about.
Edit: It turns out that my memory has betrayed me, as the names of most, if not all characters have been changed in Story of Seasons. I had a moment of the Mandela effect, so the name may have been changed due to legal reasons after all. The whole Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon situation is really weird, man.
When I was writing the script, I seriously considered keeping all the names the same as they were in the original game. Forget-Me-Not Valley, Galen, Muffy, the lot. But then I considered a lot of people who watch this video may not have played the original and I didn't want to alienate them by calling characters by names that aren't in the remake. I'm with you though 100%. The original names were fine and I don't care if they were "poorly translated."
My English is terrible, but I just want to thank you for your work, I'm just a Brazilian fan of Harvest Moon and your videos are incredible, really man.
the Brazilian Harvest Moon community is very grateful for this, we have few people here who know this game but Stardew Valley made Harvest Moon really popular here in Brazil, and it's really cool to watch your videos because every time I learn more and more about the game, keep it up and never stop with your content because it is incredible!

Honestly I loved watching this and it really made me want to pick this game back up. I was obsessed with harvest moon as a kid and I have been pretty wary of playing HM and SOS games after the developer separation and whatnot. Thanks for all the work and effort you put in this and I'd genuinely love to see you finish the file, if that's ever something you'd like to do. I want to see more and after seeing this I subscribed cause you're a great watch c: 10/10, hope you give us more and that you had a lot of fun!

Fun fact! The original game is called Harvest Moon: A wonderful Life (or Another Wonderful Life for the female version)
Reason why its now called Story of Seasons is because Natsume Inc kept the HM name, but Marvelous Inc kept the rights to the game. (Or something to that effect)
This game was also my childhood, I am so glad they revisited it!
That is a fun fact that I'm sure a lot of new players aren't familiar with lol. All my homies hate Natsume lol

Yeah they renamed a lot of characters to be "more accurate translation from the original," but I still call them by their original names most often than not lol
9:05 omg I didn’t know that. I know that in the original he gives it to you, but in this game since Takakura talked about how you have to buy it from the city, I just did. All my economies went towards it at that time. You got it so early man!

You can harvest your crops by hand. You don't end to use tools. That is good way to use up energy unnecessarily.
I chose to use the sickle since you need to use it a lot to get upgrades from Van down the road

I’m in year 3 and just realizing that I’ve been doing this game totally wrong 😂 You got so much farther in year 1 than I have by year 3 🤣. I stay struggling at my farm over here.
In my opinion, there is no "wrong" way to play! Sure, you can be efficient, but the most important part of any farming game is playing at your pace and how you want! I wanted to get all the wonders as fast as possible so I definitely played a "less chill" way lol

i never could win the territories game 😂 it's pissing me off. i could not imagine it. and how did you manage to give Van any gifts? he always rejects mine, saying it's not a good time. also, what guide do you use to play this game? i wanted to try it too
To win the Territory capture game, I always just create as large a shape I can by taking up the outside lines.
There are some characters like Van where you have to show him something he likes, like an egg or a digsite item, twice in a row before he accepts it.
I actually don't utilize a proper guide, as it were. I've just played this game and the original so much that I know a lot lol

I really NEED you to say everyting you did in a day! im doing the same things but all of a sudden, you have tons od frienship points and a lot of new crops and etc! Im on day 8 btw
Let's see. I could recap most of my Year 1 days in this comment. I start every day at 6 AM and water crops, make sure the animals are fed, and collect produce (Eggs, Milk, Wool.) That usually gets me to around 8 AM, so I run around town and give out gifts to people I know who are awake. That usually consists of the three characters at Vesta's house, Sully, Hugh, & Chris. Then I do a run in the dig site. By the time I'm done with that, I'll run over to the harvest sprite hut and pick up a recipe, then start running around town looking for people who weren't awake at 8 AM and gift stuff to them and look for cutscenes and heart events. Around 5 PM I'll do another round of animal care and getting some more milk, then I usually spend the evenings fishing since a lot of characters like sashimi and fish.
@@JackDuckGoose How did you get the S Milk on day 19? im confused. My cow its been giving normal milk for a while now. Should i buy a Bull?
@@Kevewe My understanding of milk is that it scales with heart levels. I'm not exactly sure at which heart a cow will start giving S milk, but the best way to level up your affection with your cows is to talk to them every time you milk them, let them out into the pasture when the weather is nice, and to cuddle and brush them once a day.
@@JackDuckGoose On day 33, you are planting new fruit trees, you already had 4 apple and grape ones, and you bought 9 new tree seeds, how did you organize them? im confused
@@Kevewe Great question! I only actually planted 7 of those trees. 3 Bananas and 2 peaches and 2 oranges. I kept 1 Orange and 1 Peach seed to use for later hybridizing since they won't bear fruit until Summer of Year 2.

You can give most characters 3-4 gifts a day as long as they’re different types [i.e. a flower, a fish, a meal, and a dog site object]. First run, during that rival event on our farm of all places, Matthew was all "Women, am I right?", not paying attention to the fact I was playing as one, and I had my sights set on Molly. I responded with "Matt! I'm dating Molly!"
I know it's going to be a bit funnier on my next run, where I play as a man and focus on Gordy. Hopefully by then, I'd go "Matt! I'm dating Gordy!"

I don't like pineapple, but strangely I don't mind if a pizza has been cooked with pineapple and then you pick the pineapple off, just leaving a hint of the flavor without any of the fruity crunch. would recommend if you've never tried it.

Of course. Haha, I am obssessed with the story seasons and the older harvest moon games. So seeing someone take the time to go through the entire things is awesome. I watched the fuller versions too- all the parts of the regular streams. because I can't get enough and there's not many people willing to run through the games 100%
As a young child with the GC version we used a cheat on Z on a controller in a different port to make an alarm clock appear if I remember right, or it just jettisoned random crud into your inventory. It's been so long, but we never had known what all the weird veggies were that got put into our inventory that had weird colors and variants.
I was so excited to see all that gameplay when you did the original playthrough and went to tell my family what had been plaguing us because at the time. The Internet wasn't such an information dump on all games.

I will say that the name changes are inconsequential, in my opinion at least. After a while, I don't even think about them. I even call them by the originals names once in a while lol

Might be a hot take, but I think a remade Magical Melody could be the best game in the series. All the core elements are there, they just need to make some QoL improvements, slap on a nice coat of paint, and give the villagers more utility.
