I’m currently romancing Matthew and I’ve found you can give him 5 gifts in a row. Herb soup, Milk soup, Egg, Milk, and Tomato/Watermelon. I don’t know if it works with the others but it definitely helped me get his hearts quickly
I gave Matthew one gift a day from day 1 and I was able to give him the blue feather on summer 10 of year 1, so by that math could I have had him by spring 5 year 1 if I did this lol
I’m pretty sure you can give most characters two gifts as you can give like a flower to Cecilia and then a tomato as well and she will accept them both.
You can actually give a total of four per day but they have to be different types. 1 dish, 1 milk or egg, 1 crop, 1 flower, 1 fish or or 1 dig site item.
@@catandrobbyflores It might be different for different characters? I know that Lumina will take 2 flowers and Daryl will take two fish in a row. The strategy guide doesn't go this in depth about gift giving, haha.
@elithegaymer I'm only in the first chapter so I can't say it will stay like this but I've given 3 to 4 gifts. I know once the dig site gets more things to dig up it is easier check more boxes on character's likes
This is so great! I also have one big warning to tell everyone. If you accept Muffy/Molly's offer on her 9th heart event, you will be UNABLE to see any other heart event. I got locked in to basically marry her only. I restarted the whole game because I wanted to see everyone's heart events. (Thankfully, now I have all this knowledge, I'm going to do better and I was only in summer, so that's good.) Edit: OK this is definitely a thing for ALL of the original three main game cube girls (molly, nami, Cecilia). If you activate their 9-heart event, you're locked out of the other events. Molly's is just the easiest to activate.
Are you sure this is true? I'm in summer and just did Muffy's 9th heart event. I could have swore I just saw a Lumina heart event right after Muffy's but I can't remember.

I plant trees in the first crop plot on the first day and fertilize twice a day for the entire year. It makes it so you have S tier fruit by year 2 so itll bring in some gold. Dont start fertilizing normal crops until you have the seed maker then you can save up all S tier seeds for year 2. Also when you eventually meet Vinnie, mix any crop with a carrot and he will normally give you a S tier seed of the crop you mixed with the carrot. Tedious but it works

You actually don't ever need to buy chicken feed because you CAN leave your chickens and ducks out in the rain or snow or hurricanes even, their health will never go down if you just leave them outside forever. Just make sure you don't forget to grab the new chicks that are born in the coop to bring them outside. If it makes you feel bad to leave them out in the rain, I just like to think that they like the rain and snow haha. Do not do this with your other animals though, as far as I know this only applies for the ducks and chickens. I'm on year 4 and I've never bought a bag of chicken feed, their health never drops.
Flowers mixed with crops with Vinnie: Upseed=instant S rank crop, Sagesoil=crop can grow in any soil, Happy Lamb= crop can grow in any season, Trick Blue= blue version but only seems to work on some crops. Make sure to save beforehand though since his mixes sometimes fail. I never could figure out the mechanics for why it would fail sometimes. Be careful when mixing carrots since Vinnie hates them. It seems to slightly lower his friendship after a while when using carrots. However, having a few good chats with him should fix that. Fruit tree seeds made by the seed maker is a better way to get a profit from tree crops too. There use to be a "new plant" mix that could be made that waters the crops around it too. I only got it in one playthrough in the original version so, no telling if they kept that feature or not. I hope all of this helps. Apparently fruits can no longer be mixed with Upseeds 😟 Other crops still can though. Vinnie will sometimes give you hints on good combos to do just like before too
Also don’t accidentally sleep an entire extra day, don’t forget to hard save, don’t sickle or hoe your valuable crops away, don’t forget to harvest or the crop spoils, don’t accidentally eat your quest items 😢 lmao 🤣 and save often so you can go back if you make any of these mistakes. Sorry but controls on PC have been awkward for me so I had to rant real quick about her all
Haha, I was a mess during my first play file I was a mess too! My chicken went hungry, my fertilizer was wasted, and I was CONVINCED that my cow had to get pregnant to give milk, so I bought a bull as soon as I could.

For fertilizer to be effective on the field you need to do it twice, every time I do this I get S crops. Once your crop hits S level it won’t let you fertilize anymore
Yeah… I found that out later. I just had no idea what I was doing the first time that I played. I think getting higher quality crops in the beginning isn’t as useful as feeding your cow though, so I think that fertilizer should go in the ground immediately, haha.
Fertilizer costs 20, you put it on every day for like 7 days and the crop is worth 70 more g! Not worth it, you loose money and waste time. Wait until you have hybrid crops and loads of money for the fertilizer machine
In recap to some of the no-nos, carry out the old knowledge from the original game. Also clean Nina's grave whenever you want if you want to increase your friendship with Galen (or garren?) which you have to befriend him initially before Nina died
I knew the old ones died, but I absolutely forgot Nina died at the start of year two, I literally started crying when I seen her grave off in the distance, it made me so sad that I chose to, essentially, ignore her aside from the basic conversations I'd have if I ran into her, which, I never did, because I never went in the direction she would have been at. I felt so bad about it, I actually chose to restart my game just to befriend her because of it. I wasn't aware of there being any benefits to doing so, I just felt so bad about it, like the option was there, and like Daryl, her favorite food is fish... it was such an easy opportunity, such an easy thing to do, and I still never did it in my first playthrough.

I didn't get a hunger notification until the end of spring, and I think I had only eaten two things the entire time before that? they can accept up to 5 gifts. it depends on who they are. for example Nina can accept a fish, a flower, a meal etc all at once. you just have to know what they like. I romanced matthew by giving him an egg a milk a milk soup and a tomato like everyday. gave him the blue feather by summer 3 lmao.
You can actually give more than 2 gifts per day (for marriage candidates, not sure with other villagers). As long as the gifts are of different types. :)
I failed with my cow on my first playthrough. I am doing what I can but with my second playthrough this would have been helpful. I know how to take care of my Cow now and just got a Chicken. Now I need to make friends and other stuff. So much to do! 😂
I give Molly an egg soup, milk, coin, and flower every day. I think she’ll accept all of that and also 1 crop per day if you’re trying to marry her and running out of time. Changing your appearance and looking in the mirror every day raises I think hers and Gustafa’s hearts too if I’m remembering that right
Yeah, he will only haggle with you if he has 60 friendship points and even then it’s up to chance! I personally just have haggle until he gives a higher price once. Don’t wanna waste too much time haggling, haha.
I remember I haggled so many times for a goat in the 2nd year. Van got in a bad mood because of that and refused to give me cheaper price no matter how many times I tried after that. I had to restart the game. 🤣

My idea was to use the field closest to my house for trees! Since trees take so long to grow and then grow continuously, I figure you could fertilize them every day and eventually the quality will rise, right?
I grew bananas is my poor quality field, obviously you start with B quality banana seeds, I fertilized them 2 times a day for an entire season, then when I could harvest they still came out B quality.

I rly like the game but I wish they would implement more of the Rune Factory style random event/dialogue type stuff. They are definitely capable of combining the two elements a lot more...I love SoS but it can get repetitive and confusing unless you look up the meanings of most things. Idk there's always just so much more lore in the RF games compared to SoS even though they are kind of in the same vein and under the same umbrella. I find myself switching back n forth between continuing SoS WL and RF4 Special bc it's just so charming and feels more alive.
Yeah… It’s funny because AWL made a lot of changes to make the game easier and more accessible to new players… but there are still so many things that the game doesn’t tell you.

I remember in the original GameCube version of you didn't successfully marry by giving a blue feather in your first year it was game over. So you had to be really diligent in the dating game. Took the majority of the year to get them to marry you. So if you didn't know this was a thing, you'd most likely get a game over after the first year

I got the original when it released and it's been some time since I've played the Gamecube version but yeah, I don't remember any game over. I even have the PS4 special edition. If I remember, in the Gamecube version if you didn't ask someone to marry you by the end of year 1 then the person you had the most hearts with or whatever would come to your farm and ask you. (Now maybe this applies if you somehow failed to get any hearts with any of the candidates, which I doubt because you'd have to ignore them fully, but idk what you're talking about with the game over stuff.) 🤷♀️ I had Cecilia ask me to marry her at the end of year 1 because I took too long to ask her. She came up to my farm and I had a cut scene then and there.

I'm really curious about this, because in my game I got a unique but cute cutscene of an interaction between Nami and Gustafa. I was wondering if there are going to be rivals this time what causes these rival scenes to trigger? Who else could potentially going to be paired up together? How many cut scenes does it take before they settle down and you lose them as a marriage options? I can't seem to find any further information about this. No matter where I look online.
It does have rival events… BUT it doesn’t have rival marriage (and neither did the original). Strangely, Nami has rival scenes with both Gordy and Gustafa, haha.
I found something else I don't know if it's been put out there. If you save when there is a animal like a turtle when you read journal to play again the turtle disappears foe it to come back you have to read journal a couple times.
I married Rock in my first game file in the OG because I didn't get enough hearts with the others and I would never marry him again. Even in the remake I saw him and he just seems even more off putting to me and so I legit ignored him and won everyone else. Rock is a pass not a smash LOL
FOR REAL, they somehow made him entirely unlikable in the remake. Anyone reading this, unless you want a waste of space husband who doesn't do SHIT to help you around the farm, do NOT EVER marry Rock lol

If they are let outside, they will eat on their own. You can also take fodder and feed it to them directly for an extra heart if they haven't eaten yet. It's easier to do that when they are in the barn though.
How much does the festival raise hearts because I went to the one in summer with Gordy and his hearts are at max in just summer 3. I was only pursuing him cause he is apparently the most challenging to pursue lol…
By the moment I'm enjoying the game, but at the same time I'm playing like I were poor, because my cow still has all the health bar down, she doesn't eat twice at day, but she try to eat at least three times in a single MORNING, My new horse begun to have the health bar down as well so I try to feed them multiple times with the healthy food (the + one). The only animals that are not suffering are the chicken and the dog (thank God). Apart from that, I'm getting to first autumn and I already gave the blue feather to Cecilia... I Don't know what I am doing XD
Make sure you're feeding them regular fodder as well. The + one is more like an optional treat to give them, but isn't a substitute for the regular fodder.

As in, I don't think giving them more than one a day does anything anyway BTW tho if you don't wanna bother putting the + fodder treat in the trough, you can just basically stand in front of the cow's face and press the "show" button. If the cow wants, it'll eat it from your hands!

Whelp, i played for 4 hours today only to learn that i probably have to restart bc this game wants you to do things so freaking specifically. Its no wonder my brother never was able to beat the original, seeming it was even harder.
This new game is very funny because a lot of things are simplified... but a lot of things are still strangely counter intuitive and a lot of times it's hard to figure out the best thing to do. I got the Japanese Strategy guide as soon as it was released, hahaha. It cleared up a lot... So I'm sharing that knowledge with you all!
I'm currently in autumn year 1 and tested a bit around with the shop. It seems to be only useful when you open the shop at the time many people are passing by. If you do it in any other situation you just stand there alone and waste your time. In year 1 good times seem to me: Early in the morning when everybody leaves the house (got no specifics because I'm always busy with the farm at that time), around 3 PM (Nina, Gary and Molly are always passing by at this time +- 1 hour and the oldies are great customers) and around 7 PM when everybody goes home (just beware that you will have to stay there until 11 PM for everyone to pass by). I hope this was somewhat understandable (and helpful xD)
@@Lyana_of_Silarys Haha, yeah, I have found the same thing! It's best at the time that I did it in this video (around dusk) because lots of people are walking home and stuff. Certain characters are more likely to be in that area for sure.
For Nina, is there a specific time or place or cutscene to trigger getting the recipe? I have her at absolute max friendship (the happiest pink face) and just started into winter and don't want to miss getting it.
Try talking to her in different areas. I believe she has to be at home to give you the recipe. I do know that people’s dialogue is connected to where they are as well.
UPDATE: I got the recipe. I went in Nina and Galen/Gary's house when they were inside (for me 1 PM and raining on winter 1). It does not trigger any cutscene but if you talk to her normally, she'll ask if you know the recipe for marinade. You WILL NOT permanently miss the recipe because I know I had gotten marinade earlier from somewhere else (possibly found in someone's house examining things), and just to make sure, I reloaded a save from before Nina gave it to me to confirm that yes I already had it.
Don’t worry! There are multiple ways to get each recipe! You can keep going to the sprites to get new ones. Also, you can win the cooking mini game or look up how to make it from scratch. Just make sure your cooking level is high enough.
Omg help. I kinda messed up n thought I make more money if I turn my crops into seeds but a yam seed costs 20 while a yam costs 180 with Van 🥺 feels like I messed up big time and now I have to wait until autumn next year to make profit with it. I saw a video somewhere that turning crops into seeds with seed maker makes more profit...I guess that goes with just fruits?
The friendship meter has to be at 60 (according to the official Japanese strategy guide). So if he won't haggle with you, talk to him and maybe give him an egg before or after he opens his shop.
You have to talk to her when she is in her house. Don't worry though, there are other ways to get that recipe (like talking to the sprites when your cooking level is high enough).
So... is the "haggle" option just not included in the european version? I tried selling him things 20 times, declined and he just said "too bad", nothing else
It must be that you have to raise his friendship level a bit more. Before or after he opens his shop, give him an egg and something from the archeological site.

My cow started producing 2 a grade milks in summer so I bought a normal bull to breed with her so she can start making more milk

I knew the old ones died, but I absolutely forgot Nina died at the start of year two, I literally started crying when I seen her grave off in the distance, it made me so sad that I chose to, essentially, ignore her aside from the basic conversations I'd have if I ran into her, which, I never did, because I never went in the direction she would have been at. I felt so bad about it, I actually chose to restart my game just to befriend her because of it. I wasn't aware of there being any benefits to doing so, I just felt so bad about it, like the option was there, and like Daryl, her favorite food is fish... it was such an easy opportunity, such an easy thing to do, and I still never did it in my first playthrough.

How do the hunger and energy bars work? I understand the stamina one, but I'm not sure how the energy one affects things. And I don't understand the hunger one either. I didn't get a hunger notification until the end of spring, and I think I had only eaten two things the entire time before that? What are the consequences of not eating enough, and how often is your character supposed to eat?
I believe low hunger drains stamina a lot faster.

You are correct! I've found when eating a meal I only need to eat every other day.
they can accept up to 5 gifts. it depends on who they are.
for example Nina can accept a fish, a flower, a meal etc all at once. you just have to know what they like.
I romanced matthew by giving him an egg a milk a milk soup and a tomato like everyday. gave him the blue feather by summer 3 lmao.

You can actually give more than 2 gifts per day (for marriage candidates, not sure with other villagers). As long as the gifts are of different types. :)
I failed with my cow on my first playthrough. I am doing what I can but with my second playthrough this would have been helpful. I know how to take care of my Cow now and just got a Chicken. Now I need to make friends and other stuff. So much to do! 😂
I give Molly an egg soup, milk, coin, and flower every day. I think she’ll accept all of that and also 1 crop per day if you’re trying to marry her and running out of time. Changing your appearance and looking in the mirror every day raises I think hers and Gustafa’s hearts too if I’m remembering that right
Also there’s no point in purchasing the duck pond facility until summer in year 2, learned that one the hard way 😓

Yeah, he will only haggle with you if he has 60 friendship points and even then it’s up to chance! I personally just have haggle until he gives a higher price once. Don’t wanna waste too much time haggling, haha.
I remember I haggled so many times for a goat in the 2nd year. Van got in a bad mood because of that and refused to give me cheaper price no matter how many times I tried after that. I had to restart the game. 🤣

My idea was to use the field closest to my house for trees! Since trees take so long to grow and then grow continuously, I figure you could fertilize them every day and eventually the quality will rise, right?
I grew bananas is my poor quality field, obviously you start with B quality banana seeds, I fertilized them 2 times a day for an entire season, then when I could harvest they still came out B quality.
That's what I did with my trees too

I rly like the game but I wish they would implement more of the Rune Factory style random event/dialogue type stuff. They are definitely capable of combining the two elements a lot more...I love SoS but it can get repetitive and confusing unless you look up the meanings of most things. Idk there's always just so much more lore in the RF games compared to SoS even though they are kind of in the same vein and under the same umbrella. I find myself switching back n forth between continuing SoS WL and RF4 Special bc it's just so charming and feels more alive.

I remember in the original GameCube version of you didn't successfully marry by giving a blue feather in your first year it was game over. So you had to be really diligent in the dating game. Took the majority of the year to get them to marry you. So if you didn't know this was a thing, you'd most likely get a game over after the first year

'Game over'? No. I have never had a single game over. Ever. I got the original when it released and it's been some time since I've played the Gamecube version but yeah, I don't remember any game over. I even have the PS4 special edition.
If I remember, in the Gamecube version if you didn't ask someone to marry you by the end of year 1 then the person you had the most hearts with or whatever would come to your farm and ask you. (Now maybe this applies if you somehow failed to get any hearts with any of the candidates, which I doubt because you'd have to ignore them fully, but idk what you're talking about with the game over stuff.) 🤷♀️
I had Cecilia ask me to marry her at the end of year 1 because I took too long to ask her. She came up to my farm and I had a cut scene then and there.

I was wondering if there are going to be rivals this time what causes these rival scenes to trigger? Who else could potentially going to be paired up together? How many cut scenes does it take before they settle down and you lose them as a marriage options?

It does have rival events… BUT it doesn’t have rival marriage (and neither did the original). Strangely, Nami has rival scenes with both Gordy and Gustafa, haha.

I found something else I don't know if it's been put out there. If you save when there is a animal like a turtle when you read journal to play again the turtle disappears foe it to come back you have to read journal a couple times.

I married Rock in my first game file in the OG because I didn't get enough hearts with the others and I would never marry him again. Even in the remake I saw him and he just seems even more off putting to me and so I legit ignored him and won everyone else. Rock is a pass not a smash LOL
FOR REAL, they somehow made him entirely unlikable in the remake. Anyone reading this, unless you want a waste of space husband who doesn't do SHIT to help you around the farm, do NOT EVER marry Rock lol

Do you actually feed the cow , or do they feed themselves from the grass you have sown ?
If they are let outside, they will eat on their own. You can also take fodder and feed it to them directly for an extra heart if they haven't eaten yet. It's easier to do that when they are in the barn though.

How much does the festival raise hearts because I went to the one in summer with Gordy and his hearts are at max in just summer 3. I was only pursuing him cause he is apparently the most challenging to pursue lol…
By the moment I'm enjoying the game, but at the same time I'm playing like I were poor, because my cow still has all the health bar down, she doesn't eat twice at day, but she try to eat at least three times in a single MORNING, My new horse begun to have the health bar down as well so I try to feed them multiple times with the healthy food (the + one). The only animals that are not suffering are the chicken and the dog (thank God). Apart from that, I'm getting to first autumn and I already gave the blue feather to Cecilia... I Don't know what I am doing XD
The fodder+ is a snack, they still need regular fodder to be healthy (says the tv)
Make sure you're feeding them regular fodder as well. The + one is more like an optional treat to give them, but isn't a substitute for the regular fodder.

BTW tho if you don't wanna bother putting the + fodder treat in the trough, you can just basically stand in front of the cow's face and press the "show" button. If the cow wants, it'll eat it from your hands!

that's what I always do with mine. I don't think fruit is impacted by soil quality if it's from a tree.

Whelp, i played for 4 hours today only to learn that i probably have to restart bc this game wants you to do things so freaking specifically.
Its no wonder my brother never was able to beat the original, seeming it was even harder.

Question about your shop- how long do you keep it up? I haven't gotten the game yet, but I will get it eventually.
I'm currently in autumn year 1 and tested a bit around with the shop. It seems to be only useful when you open the shop at the time many people are passing by. If you do it in any other situation you just stand there alone and waste your time. In year 1 good times seem to me: Early in the morning when everybody leaves the house (got no specifics because I'm always busy with the farm at that time), around 3 PM (Nina, Gary and Molly are always passing by at this time +- 1 hour and the oldies are great customers) and around 7 PM when everybody goes home (just beware that you will have to stay there until 11 PM for everyone to pass by).
I hope this was somewhat understandable (and helpful xD)
@@Lyana_of_Silarys Haha, yeah, I have found the same thing! It's best at the time that I did it in this video (around dusk) because lots of people are walking home and stuff. Certain characters are more likely to be in that area for sure.

You don’t have to feed them. You can teach your dog tricks but your cat doesn’t do anything.
For Nina, is there a specific time or place or cutscene to trigger getting the recipe? I have her at absolute max friendship (the happiest pink face) and just started into winter and don't want to miss getting it.
Try talking to her in different areas. I believe she has to be at home to give you the recipe. I do know that people’s dialogue is connected to where they are as well.

UPDATE: I got the recipe. I went in Nina and Galen/Gary's house when they were inside (for me 1 PM and raining on winter 1). It does not trigger any cutscene but if you talk to her normally, she'll ask if you know the recipe for marinade. You WILL NOT permanently miss the recipe because I know I had gotten marinade earlier from somewhere else (possibly found in someone's house examining things), and just to make sure, I reloaded a save from before Nina gave it to me to confirm that yes I already had it.
I got the recipe from her within the first season by going to her house. Her husband loves fish too
The only thing I fail is not befriending Gary..😔 He no longer accept gifts in Year 2..
Edit: I'm now on Year 3 and he starts accepting gifts again..😊

Don’t worry! There are multiple ways to get each recipe! You can keep going to the sprites to get new ones. Also, you can win the cooking mini game or look up how to make it from scratch. Just make sure your cooking level is high enough.

I kinda messed up n thought I make more money if I turn my crops into seeds but a yam seed costs 20 while a yam costs 180 with Van 🥺 feels like I messed up big time and now I have to wait until autumn next year to make profit with it. I saw a video somewhere that turning crops into seeds with seed maker makes more profit...I guess that goes with just fruits?
Yeah, you are only supposed to do that with year one fruits. On the plus side, you can save them for hybrid crops or just plant them next year.

The friendship meter has to be at 60 (according to the official Japanese strategy guide). So if he won't haggle with you, talk to him and maybe give him an egg before or after he opens his shop.

You have to talk to her when she is in her house. Don't worry though, there are other ways to get that recipe (like talking to the sprites when your cooking level is high enough).
So... is the "haggle" option just not included in the european version? I tried selling him things 20 times, declined and he just said "too bad", nothing else
It must be that you have to raise his friendship level a bit more. Before or after he opens his shop, give him an egg and something from the archeological site.
