    I just got my MBC Dual Path A-D Converter and Limiter but honestly I prefer the original Turbo Encabulator

    This was the best video I could find on connection, and I am still unsure how to use this with 3 Avid HD 16x16 IO's and my 5059 + MBP. My monitors are ran from the Avid HD Omni, so if I connect this digitally then how do I A/B conversion with my Avid? I purposely bought the Avid HD Omni just for the monitors volume control because I didn't want to get a monitor controller. No way to make this unit a hard insert?
    This is an upgrade from the limiter in the MBP, but I can set the MBP up as a hard insert. How can I limit a drum bus in a 40 track WHOLE mix, while still using it as a master clock?

    Is the ADC calibration pre or post transformer?

    is this more finalizing process than portico 2 in mixing ?
    I just want to know the exact purpose of this gear since it has similar tools like the protico 2.
    I was about to purchase the portico but I've just found this and it's giving me hard time to choose.
    Thanks !

      Very high-end converters are the primary use for tracking / mix capture, the limiter / silk are secondary.

    I just brought the Neve MBP can I use this in conjunction or would that be over kill?

      If all you have is the Neve MBP I doubt it would be overkill but you will get very similar coloration I'd assume, and you maybe won't get much use out of the silk mode since the MBP has it already. Well, you can always try to combine both ofc, there are no rules. Keep in mind that this is first and foremost a high end A/D converter, this is the main reason you should purchase it, if you need to upgrade your conversion. The other functions are nice little cherries on top. A typical case where this would be overkill is for someone who already has multiple colorful and transformer-balanced units in their mix buss/mastering chain as well as great conversion (unless they absolutely want to replace their converters with the MBC).

      yeah, the two should work great together. The limiter on the MBP could be used with the blend down to be a better combination with the MBC, or you could just compress / SFE on the MBP and limit on the MBC (you could experiment with what works best for the silk, the blue silk is a little different on the MBP due to transformer design differences, but you could play with different combinations / texture levels between the two

    Hi, I have two Portico Channels. How do I link the compressors? I have the cable. On the back I see two inputs under the word link. Which one do I insert the cable into and with that same cable (the other end) which do I insert on the second Portico Channel? Thank you!

    • @RupertNeveDesigns
      @RupertNeveDesigns  4 роки тому +1

      Hi , You just need one cable between them with link pushed on both, and you still need to set the settings to match on each unit so that they trigger equally. Keep in mind often stereo compressors can sound better / more stereo unlinked so be sure to listen both ways.

      @@RupertNeveDesigns just a thought, have RND thought about making a switcher box for outboard gear so the small studio won't have to patch much? Say about 8 pieces of outboard gear connected to one box allowing us to mix up the orders, bypass and maybe save setting. with the silk of course!!!
