How to Burn Fat over Age 50 - Comprehensive Guide - Thomas DeLauer
Burning fat over age 50 is actually a little bit different and there's not a lot of people out there breaking down what should be done differently.
The purpose of this video isn't to be the end all be all, it's to give those of you that are over 50, really over 40, just some additional things that you should consider.
Because a lot of this stuff still applies to you that's out there in the internet and that you're going to read about or watch, but you need to have these little nuggets of information that you can apply, that work specifically for you and your bio-individuality, because once you're over 50 there's just hormonal shifts that occur and you need to be able to get by with a little bit less.
So, a few things that I’m going to cover within this video:
Apple cider vinegar. I know I've talked about this in other videos, so if you're a subscriber of mine already, I'm sorry for repeating myself, but there are some specific things that come into play when you're over 50.
You see, apple cider vinegar and the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar up-regulates something known as PPAR. Now, PPAR is sort of a genetic pathway, or kind of a protein pathway, that allows fatty acids to get mobilized a little bit easier.
I highly recommend, and this is very, very important, that men and women over the age of 50 make a concerted effort to have their one or two cups of coffee in the morning.
Then after that's done, switch over to green tea, okay? Because green tea is a very powerful what is called phosphodiesterase inhibitor.
Now, that's going to make it so that throughout the course of the day your body is sending a signal to still allow what is called CAMP, cyclic adenosine monophosphate, to be elevated, which therefore tricks your body into thinking that it needs to burn the stored fat for fuel.
The other really important supplement that you need to be taking is going to be vitamin D. Now, I highly, highly, highly recommend that you get vitamin D from a whole food form. Okay? This is going to look like a canned fish, sardines, anchovies, oysters. Okay? Try to get them with the skin on and with the bone. I know it might sound gross, but it's going to make a big difference. Vitamin D is so powerful when it comes down to fat loss.
Okay, I want to jump around to protein here for a minute, because I think this is super, super critical. There's two important factors that you have to remember with protein. I'll lay them out real quick here. Number one, high omega-3 protein. Without fail, grass-fed, grass-finished. More on that in a second. Number two, as an older person, you need more protein, not less. Do not worry about your kidneys with this. There is actually evidence that shows that more protein is good for the kidneys as you get older.
I hope that these tips have helped you out a lot. I'll see you soon.

Thomas, if you're aiming to build muscles and you're over 50, incorporating supplements can be beneficial. However, it's important to remember that supplements work best when complemented by a balanced diet and regular exercise. Look for products containing muscle-building ingredients such as protein, creatine, and BCAAs. Keep in mind that supplements should enhance your efforts, not serve as a substitute. Stay dedicated to your fitness goals,:ua-cam.com/video/ONu4dPA5P4w/v-deo.html

1 start the day with ACV
2 make a concerted effort to have coffee in the morning and then switch to green tea
3 take vitamin D preferably canned fish, oysters ect
4 high omega 3 protiens and you need more of it as you get older, 1.2 grams per kilogram of weight.
    5 mega dose vitamin c
6 go 20 to 24 hours with intermittent fasting. Train at the end of fast
7 men take 9mg of boron, women don't be afraid of foods that boost estrogen.

    Hey Thomas
I’m 52 with a 2 & 5 year old self employed out of my home and a home schooler so hard physical activity is limited. When I ran across you I figured you were just another muscle head looking for a reason to take your shirt off in front of the camera. I was 5’10” 200lbs and tired of it so I listened anyway. Turns out you probably have more brains then brawn and I’m thankful for that cause 8 months later I’m 164lbs without needing to bust my butt at a gym and this was done before I saw any video about being over 50. I eat one meal a day where before it was 3 solid meals with snacks in between.
Thanks to you I will be raising my kids with a much healthier lifestyle then I was raised not because I had bad parents but because they had limited resources to teach them that certain foods just should not be eaten and just because the gobberment says this is how you should eat doesn’t make it good for you!!
Thanks Thomas for what you do and keep it up!!

    • @dontfit6380

cisa93 first off Thank you for your service!!
I started the same age same month as my grandfather and he had 5 kids! I’ve always been very active, several businesses plus hobbies but when my first one came my wife and I decided I wasn’t going to work as much so I just slowly started putting on weight starting at 165lbs by the time my daughter came I was 200 maybe plus and when I noticed I was out of wind playing with my boy in the yard and I didn’t want to get on the floor to play with my little girl I decided that was enough! I cut out sweets first but nothing. Then I found the keto diet and it made sense. I dumped carbs and I mean everything. It was rough for a little while but we’ll worth it. I actually have a pair of tennis shoe haven’t had a pair since 10th grade! Every morning 5am my son and I go for a jog!
Anybody that says this way of eating doesn’t work has never really gave it a chance and those that say it can’t be sustained, Do you live to eat or eat to live? I choose the latter.
You keep it up you lose all the weight you want and feel 10 years younger or more!

The WORST thing about Thomas is he says things like, "Take a megadose of vitamin D...throughout the day." But does NOT say what a "mega" dose us or how often "throughout" the day is. Which kind of renders what he says useless.

I'm 55, Asian female, 5ft, started clean Keto + OMAD in Feb., started at 135lbs (was very active before but I let myself controlled by stress after a life-changing event - the reason I got fat). I now weigh 114lbs (I still have 3lbs to go to get back to my original weight before I got fat), started major hiking again, went back to joining ultramarathon/marathon, jogging/walking every morning (minimum of 8km per day). My daily intake - clean Keto & lemon water with ACV. I wedged in a 48hrs fast last month and will probably do it again next weekend during Lent cleansing. I still kick ass at 55.

Anyways I apologize for this comment but " Beauty with brains" fits here. Now after this uncomfortable comment, I would like to thank you! seriously for the great tips on IF. I am trying to find a whole day meal plan for it though in your videos. The one I watched was open the fast with white meat and broth. Breakfast afterwards...then what about the rest of the day....is there any food involved or that's it. I am new to this IF thing and learning by gathering the resources. Your videos are full of knowledge ..🤓 and by far the best help so far.👍🏼 Thanks for putting so much effort and you definitely are helping a lot of people.

Keep it up. Calories in and out is absolute bs, don’t listen to that nonsense. It’s been proven over and over. If you burn 2k a day and cut to 1500. So 500 a day deficient the body will adapt to it by slowing metabolism, it it didn’t a person would eventually die by consuming 1500 a day while their metabolism was 2000 a day. It will cause weight loss for a time but then the body will protect itself by reducing energy output. Human bodies are amazing at adaptation. Fasting and ketogenic is your best bet esp needing to lost 250lbs. Thomas is a walking example of how well keto and fasting works without being overly concerned about calories. Insulin is what causes weight gain not calories.

@Donovan Best research Dr Jason Fung and his comments about the thermodynamics. Calories are nonsense and have nothing to do with the fact of how hormones affect us. X calories Of cotton candy vs the same about in beef or butter is going to created a huge difference. Decades of studies have shown calorie restrictions only work for a short time in the vast majority of people. They did prison study and had a guy at 10k a day and he barely gained weight. His body adapted. Same with restriction. Fasting is far superior along with keto or carnivore because of insulin levels and MTOR etc

      Gubinge.
Vitamin C supplements are just ascorbic acid junk.
All the clinical studies and research papers are based on ascorbate acid.
There's no ascorbate acid in Vitamin C supplements- even in a liposomal format it's still ascorbic.
Get a combination of both from food sources like gubinge- highest source of Vitamin C on earth plus if you get Loving Earth brand the Vitamin C is higher due to grinding the skin and seed where a lot of the Vitamin C content is found.
No other company selling gubinge does this.
With the seed getting added for fibre, it slows down your Vitamin C absorption so that it moves through the colon slowly.
Plus it's freeze dried and not heat treated.

      Different people need different amounts.
