The only KWS show I ever went to. I remember being shocked at how incredible this performance was. He played like he was possessed. I went to HS with Kenny, same grade, and didn’t know he even played until his song While We Cried was on the radio. I’ve been a fan since then…but this particular performance is the best guitar solo work I’ve ever witnessed. Glad it got recorded and I can watch it almost 30 years later!
Cool guy I was so impressed when I first heard his guitar off the "Ledbetter Heights" album that I was having a hard time with the music of that time as when I heard him and SRV "In Step" I fell in the blues trail and remained in this genre for 30 years. I've yet to see him in person but I will be seeing him this month in Montgomery,Al. On the 19th seen you guys there.
@Swift River I saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd back in 1997 he was on the G3 tour with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. They each played a set and then they all came out for an encore set together finishing the night with a monster rendition of "Red House!" I was blown away and i must say it was the concert of a lifetime...😎
My first time listing to the band I seen the signiture fender strat man roll over Batoven Mr Shepherd is in town and tell Austin City Limets the news who handed this Katt the torch great move the whole Group of musicians where great...RocknRoll will never Die....RocknRollFlat5
Wow been coming back to watch this video for a decade now. Wonder how many of those views are mine (few hundred at least)? BTW this was from a set they did live for Austin City Limits on PBS back when TV was still worth watching.
Kenny Wayne took the stage all by himself when he was only 18 and tore it up on Austin City Limits if my memory serves me correctly. I thought that I might find it on YT but so far no luck. Anybody else see him on ACL or are my memory banks corroded? Man he was just killing it...
This band’s performance is just totally phenomenal! They sound like a band that’s been playing for 10+. I saw KWS in Nashville,Tn in 2003 and didn’t want the damn show to end. I personally like his version of Voodoo Child better than SRV but they’re both unfreaking real!
There is a extended version of this that was recorded in Bob's garage in Seattle that blows this in the ditch , I remember it being 20+ minutes or so. It was a high quality recording. only if we could get Bob Rivers to post it on here. I have seen him twice here in Seattle. Top notch.
This was the first song that I heard from Kenny Wayne Shepherd, I fell in love with that song, and I went out and bought the tape. Been a big fan of his ever since❤❤❤
I was playing drums for Little Milton in 2000 and played a show or 2 w KWS. I remember he looked like a kid on a cell phone in Syracuse, checking in, Noah Hunt was in front of me, we all ended up drinking all night in the bar. They loved and respected Milton. If you love blues, you know who he was.
I sooo love Corey's voice! Noah is great, but Corey. . . Wow!!! He was last singing with the Chris Aaron's Band. Not a lot on youtube of them, but have found some. Check them out. Pretty soulful in their own right.
If there was a Mount Rushmore for Blue guitar players, KWS would definitely be up there. I have had the pleasure of seeing him in concert several times. KWS, you Rock!
I like Kenny's tone even better back then. I felt like he saved music a little at that time, when the great 90's bands were fizzling out. I spent the rest of the weekend with Corey Sterling after his last show with Kenny at Memphis in May (and a wild weekend it was). He was pretty bummed. He said he was leaving because he felt Kenny, management, etc, wouldn't allow him to have any creative input into the band. He wanted to write. He felt he was only a hired hand/musician & not in a band like he'd envisioned.
+Shannon Campbell, Your welcome to try you dumb ass. You might find out how much I support the 2nd amendment. BTW: There's another reason that Ole Cory isn't around anymore. He sucked then, and he sucks now. Now why don't you and your girlfriend Cory go suck together. FYI: Your internet threat to "hunt me down" is a felony and a U.S. federal crime now likely of the interest of the FBI and DHS. ;)
@@bensblues fr lmao, people don’t realize it’s literally all in how good the player is, and the amp/effects lmao. KWS could have a $200 guitar, and sound almost as good he does here with his amp/effects
Outstanding after all these years...one of my favourite tracks and albums...Corey Sterling and KWS complement one another with all the band members helping to produce a classic in blues rock. Corey did go on to perform with CAB and is greatly missed....if only he was still in the business..maybe one day.

Seems like yesterday this tune hit airwaves..still gives me chills.. guitar and vocals…
Cory Sterling Was the Best Match for Kenny 's Guitar Sound !.
By far better lead singer than Noah. Kenny messed up letting Corey go.
@@toddotterson7568 Why did he let him go?

That's what I was thinking
some guys were just born to play guitar ... KWS is one of them
You're right, EJ. Mozart and Schubert were composing their first symphonies when they were 5. KWS had the same type of start, just 200 years later on.

Dang... Corey's voice is absolute gold. Holy smokes, to have pipes like that...
😎✌️
True that
NO ONE SHOULD EVER SING THIS SONG EXCEPT COREY STERLING.
I’m a Noah Hunt guy but Cory knocks this out of the park! This is intense.
Still one of my favorites of all time. Kenny Wayne kicks ass... n Cory could melt ice with that voice.

The band's best song, and best live version.

Sounds like Stevie Ray never left this earth. This is phenomenal. The tone, the licks. Wow.
It's over the top. 🫴🎩
Indeed!
Kenny was inspired by a SRV concert
was talking to cory yesterday in oshawa..first time seeing him in 15 years..

I’m Team Noah, but I have to admit that Corey sounds good.
Great singer. Didn't know him, but he fits perfect with the guitar and the band.
kenny has blues in his soul
The best voice around....Hopefully he will come back to singing like Beth Hart did after years of struggling with alcohol, etc.....
Ive just hooked up with Cory recently !! Talking bout jamin again !!!! Love that guys voice !!
That's awesome news. Come back Corey.
I love that album! It’s one of my favorite!
Magical tone, flawless performance.
tone oh sweet tone where art thou
austin city limits always gets the sound mix PERFECT
Kenny Wayne is perhaps the best rock/blues guitar player since the late great SRV !
chris duarte
He’s not as good as Eric Johnson lol
Sorry but Jeff Healy was the greatest.
Johnny Lang...
Walter Trout. A true survivor.
So sexy song....and Kenny is unbelievable, also Corey:))
