I wonder if there are other listeners who approach Bonamassa’s music in the same way I do. I am 73 years young and have a hobby background rooted in classical guitar study, not blues or rock. I stumbled upon Joe’s work one day about 3 years ago here on UA-cam and fell in love with it. So different from anything I’d listened to before. Truly, it was a learning curve. I notice in the comments how many people fault Joe for his clean technique and sound, as though that doesn’t show any “feeling”. I beg to differ with that point of view, as I always valued “clean” sound from the instrument and don’t see how that should preclude “feeling”. Maybe it is just a matter of taste??? Or am I missing something? What stands out to me is how much Joe cares to play really well. And, as far as I am concerned, he totally succeeds! And if he doesn’t play a blues tune like another player does, well, we don’t need clones of other musicians anyway. Artists are unique by definition.
Damn straight. Just been to my second Joe concert n like the tshirt sez ALWAYS ON THE ROAD. Spreading the gospel is he. Bravo Joe. Wonderful talent ans skill.
I agree wholeheartedly.
It's a lot harder to play cleanly. He has skill, technique, writes own material, and
works at his craft.
I love his music in, I was watshing, where he was playing with BB King like 5 years old child. He is fabulous, I love he's musicion and so tecnikalsk perfekto he is perfect.
Joe bonnamasa is untouched.i love talented guitarist in all genres..joe is king & that's a fact jack!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍👍
I saw him do this live 2 days ago. My friend and I were in the front row, center seats 1 & 2. It was surreal..... this man is pure genius. After the concert, he gave me his set list!!!! I'm still reeling with excitement!!!!
lucky you. Congrats. That is wonderful. Great seats too. Hollywood Bowl, August 9, 2023 we were given tickets by Warner bros staff who we work with as a Gift. I will not miss this. Thank God for MUSIC. I'd not be here. Thanks and happy you enjoyed it - Joe is a master
@jameshall8455 Take my arms, take my legs, but don't take my music. It's my drug of choice every single day of my life. Nothing in this world gives me the feelings that get from it. I'm going to see him in November! I can't wait!!!!
I can’t wait to see him in person.
A man who stand on his on !
Just one man and one guitar and he's ripping it so hard it may as well be a full orchestra. That's talent.
Groove is sick
How proud his parents must be sitting there watching the miracle they produced.
They are in this video at the 6:30 mark....Len with bald head and glasses and Debra on Len's right.....very nice people....
How is this guitar literally NOT ON FIRE?!?!?!?!
Special strings convert the heat from his fingers into vibrations heard across the universe.
One of the greatest to ever pick up a guitar, any genre. 🎸
A few years ago, just a couple of weeks before this performance he was playing in Glasgow. I duly bought my ticket, and knowing the venue (O2 Academy) thought I'd get along early, most nearby bars were pretty full and the queue at the door was... well, it resulted in a sigh. So, I turned around and walked round the corner to find a quieter pub for a pint or two before the gig. The pub was a dark back street of Glasgow affair, where you normally get a few looks from the locals as yo walk in to see if you're going to be a problem.
Pint in hand, listening to the random music on the radio and I cautiously glance round the bar (it is Glasgow, so caution is always a good opening gambit). I message my pals to tell them where to meet and spot a couple of blokes at a table, half turned away, but the profile was enough. I asked the barmaid for a pen, and gig ticket in hand respectfully apologised for interrupting his drink and asked if the gentleman at the would mind signing my gig ticket. He smiled, and said ''not a problem, I hope yo enjoy the show'', my reply, ''thank you, I know I will, it's not the first time''. A laugh from JB and a thank you from me and I left him in peace with his pal to enjoy his pre-gig beer. Went back to the bar, and handed the barmaid her pen, ''who's that?'', she asks, I look at her and reply, ''god''.
My thoughts at the time, and still to this day were what an open, humble, respectful and genuine bloke he was/is. I still have the ticket, framed on the wall beside my guitars.
Loved your story! You have a knack for telling it, too. I could picture it all.
So totally understand! What a cool experience.
Shortly after my husband very suddenly died, we went to a concert to see JB. Joe invited me and my 2 young sons backstage before his concert. He talked humbly and gently to my boys and signed my son's guitar. Total class act!
After playing guitar for 20 years, while not being the greatest of players, I do trust my ears on what is good and what is not. This is raw talent, plain and simple. Anyone who says otherwise is quite frankly just wrong.
Justin Miller - true that!!!
Yes yes.. his skills are out of this world.. I am learning my silly little guitar playing too now ... Joe is above there.. above anyone in my opinion :)
talent yes, that is allowed to shine with decades of dedication and practise. Talent on its doesnt mean shit if you dont practise like how Joey B does. His talent gives him the extra edge that makes him sell all those seats and enable him to keep buying up all the fucking vintage tweed amps for himself lol
Yes, that and tens of thousands of hours of practice.
yes..a talent no doubt..all the same ..at this point in world history..nothing will sound as new or 'groundbreaking' as in the 60s, 70s & 80s
You dont just hear Bonamassa music, you feel it
This is what a concert should be like-everyone listening and not talking. For me, that shows such respect for the artist. I hope Joe and others still can feel like they're getting "into the crowd" but this is a concert I would love to attend. This video shows the entertainment I so enjoy-a good acoustic guitar and very talented person. Don't need the big production-just the music.
This man is the most talented musician I've ever had the pleasure of seeing live. Incredible
He is the most talented today, no one can touch him
I've seen him several times. He's awesome !!!
@@ralex3697 he is great no doubt, but there are plenty who share the Same talent or gift as him, there is no such thing as THE BEST GUITARIST,not when there is so many of em,but yeah joe is on another level
Yep been there very close awesome night of my life
DITTO!!!
I often wounded if Joe ever reads these UA-cam comments? These beautiful and enchanting comments from all over the world of how talented he really is. I watched him play at every show front row seat, and OMG he pours his heart, and soul out with in each and every song, and it's like watching him magically disappear straight into his guitar becoming as one. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CONNECTION! If anyone says any different then they should not be there right! Right! I love you JB, Keeping the Blues alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU CARE MORE ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK ABOUT YOU, THAN WHAT YOU KNOW IS TRUE ABOUT YOURSELF, YOU'RE IN A LOT OF TROUBLE! JOES NOT IN ANY TROUBLE ST ALL!!
The sounds he gets from that piece of wood and those strings is nothing short of majestic. Incredible mr joe Bonammassa ❤❤❤❤❤❤
If I'm dreaming .listening to this...NEVER WAKE ME UP
The silence and awe of the audience during the performance is a testament to this incredible master.
NOT OF THIS EARTH
accurate? the word you looking for is "incredible"
I think IBTV replied to Ziktoss here. Accurately.
More like Unreachable
This man helps me miss Stevie Ray Vaughan just a little less. Thank God for Joe's music!
This man is phenomenal
@@denisep8679
A total musical genius
@@ralex3697 and he is so humble! I had the honor of meeting him a few years ago. He was in a t-shirt, jeans, and tennies. To see him transformed on stage is mindblowing. He calls it his alter ego 😂

Incredible 😮
His hands connect to the soul of the guitar. He truly plays like no other.
Abosultly love him.
How true!
This is the closest thing we'll ever have to watching a L.V. Beethovan
THIS IS THE GREATEST GUITAR SOLO EVER! Just FRIGGIN AWESOME
Magnificent, this man, JB, is the most profound guitarist I’ve ever seen in my 70 years of playing!
Do you know Tommy Emmanuel?
I do
One man. One acoustic guitar. One historic theater mesmerized. Who does that?
Joe does that.. he is above and beyond anyone .. this is something incredible we are hearing and seeing here
Smokin' Joe
Not taking anything away from Joe, but noel galagher has mesmerized this same hall
His guitar playing hits me right in my gut and female parts. Holy cow, can he play. I just discovered him. What a talent!
This is beyond words. He is a master of his craft. Simply awe inspiring.
We really are so blessed to be able to witness his dedication and artistry. He makes life better by sheer force of his talent.
It's ďivine
Joe is so humble. He loves music and shows respect for Jimi,Stevie Ray Vaughn,Eric Clapton ,Buddy Guy,BB King and so many others. He doesn't think he's Jimi. That's crazy. This man loves playing guitar. He does what he love's and that is performing for his fans.
This man is a great musician, but he is far from humble, he came to is saw him in Ireland and the crowd wanted him to pay tribute to Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore, you know since he was in Ireland and all, he wouldn't do it, people thought he was a bit of prick for being so arrogant, he is incredibly arrogant. I enjoyed his music from when I heard him first, but since that concert I have lost respect for him!
Gearóid MacTiernan, I’m assuming you mean that Bonamassa should have paid tribute by playing a tune or two of each Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore. Maybe Joe had a prescribed concert program that he and the band were prepared to play and wanted to stick to that. I’m sure they always want to give their best rehearsed effort. Possibly there were time constraints…or any number of other reasons…who knows? That doesn’t make somebody arrogant. No need to give up good music because of that.
@@Gmtar Gary and Rory are not the easiest artists to emulate. They were so, unique, incomparable, and on and on. I wouldn't want to perform their songs, even if I was Joe , for fear of dishonoring their memories and giving a bad performance. Gary Moore is one of the greatest guitarists I have ever seen/ heard, as is Rory. Not two acts I would want to follow, regardless of my talent.
@@M._Lou I agree. The artist is in control, it's his show. Saw Joe in Auckland NZ September 2019.
Joe's the man! Heard someone say his talent is from another planet, I know, just another way of saying 'out of this world' but it's true. The show started at exactly 8pm. True professional. No token tributes were requested, the fans were there for the artist. On my bucket list: Joe Bonamassa acoustic. (I'm same age as you ;)
That is because we in the UK like to hear a performer perform without all the hooping and hollering that we expect from US audiences, how can you enjoy the artists performance with all that racket going on? We reserve our applause for after the artist finishes..
john smith well said. I agree and I’m an American
Joe is a modern great.....no doubt.
Clearly one of the greatest guitar players in the world!
43rd Parallel N 66
oef boy you are pushing jimi hendrix away allong with srv bb king so please chek first the old blues boys before you say something like that he is fast but not the greatest
the greatest all have died
@@messi5601 I've been around since both of those were alive, and I totally disagree. Joe maybe be the best ever born IMO.
@ lordumoeder - Notice he said "One of the greatest" , not "THE GREATEST". Learn to read and comprehend what you're reading, before you chastise someone for voicing THEIR opinion. What an asshole.
@@hogie1259 you better shut your old fuckî face, wtf are you even holding a guitar ? You cant play i guess and no joe isnt on of the greatest they died, watch your blues docus again old pal
Speechless...to be THAT good is almost impossible!!! He is the guitarist of the decade!
I saw him and his Band at The FOX Theatre in Atlanta Last May, His Birthday, and man, the guy is a Freaking Machine - Flawless for more than three Hours - He told / asked the Audience after a couple songs, "If you don't mind, Today is my Birthday and I would like to play a little bit longer than normal if it's okay with all of you ?" You can Imagine the response - And he did. The guy is Amazing - Technically Perfect Song after Song - You just don't see that level of Mastery very often these days.
Awesome, beutiful, magic. Simply magic., Thanks Joe.
I'm a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. Joe Bonamassa is a great guitar player, He was playing SRV at the age of 6. When i seen the video of BB king talking about him at the age 13 i was shocked. There will always be haters in life. It's funny how the haters are watching his videos and making crude remarks. Now that's funny. If you hate Joe then don't watch his videos and support your guitarist. As a Joe Bonamassa fan i will support his music. He is a class act. I would love to see him due a CD with Dana Fuchs. Great voice with a great guitar player. Dana is being held back by her guitarist. I found Joe through SRV. I was shocked when i seen how he played.
Bravo Johnnlijepo rečeno,super,hvala.
Yeah, Joe is a deadset blues gangsta... has rubbed shoulders with the greatest blues players from a young age.. quite amazing.....
Hows the dynamics in his playing in this song... simply brilliant
There will always be haters because some people find it hard to like themselves.
John Charcho he's brilliant
Arguably one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived.....love everything he does and seems like the nicest guy...we all love you Joe
His guitar skill is so so so mad that his vocal warmth stays unmentioned. He's a pro-entertainer in both arts. Singing and playing the guitar.
His voice is strong, so satisfying and so perfect for his guitar style. He's incomparable…in a class of his own.
Dude makes me weak at the knees, for real
There is also some pitch correction on the vocal. Not that it takes away from his immense talent.
Agreed. I am very picky about singers, but I love Joe's voice.
Those guitar skills yes.. out of this world.. and his entertainment level is up to 10 !! This is kinda unhuman acoustic guitar playing.. I guess I try to say I am a big Joe B fan and always will be.. some decent music :)
There are amateurs, professionals and then there is Joe Bonamassa!!!!:D
One of the greatest guitar players ever 🎸♥️🎶
This is so incredibly BEAUTIFUL, so amazing!!! 😯😶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
WOW......Just WoW......incredible....fantastic Joe....👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✌🏻
This concert was my first exposure to Joe Bonamassa. I fell in love right then and there, and no one will kill it.
I have seen him 4 times,. first was a fluke, I had front row in Melboune Fl, King Center, and I own the dvd for this, yet I still come here. lol. yuep I am a Joe Junkie!
Are there any words you can say after watching him play that song. Just overwhelmed with that remarkable display of unmatched talent.
Truly One of The Masters of the Art of Music That sets the Bar to the sky and I love everything and everyone of you Please hurry back. We are all missing your fine and wonderful talents and skills
I’ve known & been around a few lead guitarists/vocalists in my life. Joe Bonamassa is at that genius level. I know how many hours of guitar practice, vocal lessons/breathing exercises, hauling equipment around to venues, etc etc it takes. 🎸🙏🏽
He’s a master like Blackmore or Gilmore bb king Santana man’s blessed 😇
I can feel those strings!!!
I have never felt so much emotion listening to someone ...in my Life.. YOU ARE INTO THE MUSIC ...I FEEL WHAT YOU MUST FEEL AND IM JUST LISTENING. WON ME OVER ...HANDS DOWN😮♥️🎸♥️
I really don’t think this man can be challenged that is pure skill of the guitar he’s so so brilliant in every way Joe your fantastic.
Damn that sound engineer and guitar engineer are f ing as good as Joe......
I've been Bonamassafied!
John Doe Me too
Very definitely...same here!!!!!
I've been listening to JB for nearly 20yrs and I have been fortunate enough to see him live 5 times so far. One of the true great guitarists who's fan base grows every day. He can kill any song at any time in any style.
And then there was Joe
There was Stevie!
I haven't heard from anyone playing like Joe plays in years. Can't wait to see him play when he comes to The Palace Theater.
I have watched many times, this is astounding in every way possible to play a 6 string with a brilliant sound engineer!!
Some people say he doesn't play with enough feeling or soul; I think I see a huge puddle of it poured out all over the stage...
I kinda agree with Some People. there's more to music than mechanics. Clapton has Skill and still manages to rend your heart senseless.
Joe has amazing skills, but keep in mind that he considers it a personal responsibility to keep blues music, especially the Chicago and Delta blues, alive and pertinent for future generations. That's a pretty selfless attitude that doesn't automatically translate well to the audience. Listen to him talk about blues playing, especially his early influences, and you will see plenty of soul...
He's NOT keeping any kind of BLUES alive pal. This is wanky, rootless 'Rock' music.
This sounds NOTHING like BLUES music.
you obviously know nothing about Joe Bonamassa. You're one of those guys that runs around saying shit like "Clapton's better than Page, man... I suggest you study Joe's history, his love of the blues craft, and the opinions and respect other guitar players have for him before you go spouting your ignorant blather...
No you idiot, I'm one that goes around saying Muddy Waters is way better than JB, & for all you Rock fans who go around using the term 'Blues' to describe the Rock blues you listen to. I'm a grown man who's been playing music for twenty years and I'm talking about this guy's wanky wanky approach to the guitar & his absolute lack of taste that his fans don't get.
No self-respecting true acoustic guitar player would play the wanky, musicalless crap he started the video with ... & that acoustic sound! Absolutely plastic & cheap. Get a mic on that & play it right.
It seems JB studied the Blues, apparently, so he could throw the word around & gain legitimacy even while playing no actual Blues music or really tasteless, forced & over-aggressive Rock guitar for Rock guitar worship fans.
I won't comment on his weak voice.
He overplays to hide so many deficiencies.
killer..since SRV passed, this is my main man
Off the freaking hook! He has such technical skill and he leverages that as he's playing his various genres of blues. Bending strings with soulful vibrato and timing is normally associated with the blues. But Joe has a passion and style all his own. I think it's best if we compare his current work to his past rather than to other blues players. Regardless of how people try to pigeon-hole the interpretation of the blues, there is room for a unique progressive fusion blues-rock artist. Joe is one of the greats of this era and clearly the Albert Hall audience loves him.
Truly a professional. He has his own sound like no one else. The great guitarists never are the best singers but their singing is not why we're captivated. Definitely top 5.
I met Joe on pbs, I was amazed by the fact I'd never heard of him, good thing I was cruising the dial
me too, still to this day my friends have no clue who he is.
Joe ploughs his own furrow, no slave to the "corporates"
@@g8ymw I love Joe, but he is as corporate as anyone
I love how there are comments hating on him but name your favorite guitarist and they will always fall short because of the hard work and talent this man has on a guitar and bet your favorite guitarist would probably say Fuck No to try to best Joe Bonamassa. Now I say Good Day Sir
Ha ha I love haters, they're the ones who cant play two notes themselves. Jealousy sucks. They always rap on about this one being better than that one but really, who cares?
SGTGammahooch Ask Satriani to take on Joe acoustically he'd falter against Bonamassa. Electric and you have a good fight which I would back Satriani with his technicaility.
For me it's never a competition.. it's some great music.. played by great musicians.. this silly world wants to rank everything.. who is the bestest.. he was better than him.. wtf ???? Enjoy the music and performance.. I know I do :)
JB is now a GOAT. Absolute superstatus. No ropes, he climbed up the ladder all by himself.
Just showing off. Incredible!
I don't play guitar but Joe sure as hell does.
OH MY GOD!! He's the Master!! Bravo! Bravo!! Joe you have created a new genre!! It's called Bonamusic!!!
My favorite song woke up dreaming by far
His drummer and keywords. Who to ask for more? Back up singers. Wow.
He continues to take guitar playing to a whole new level. Never tire of watching his work.
I’ve seen Joe live 13 times, and have heard this song hundreds of times, and still get goosebumps whenever I hear it. This is the best version.
This isn't good. This is legendary 💪its amazing how far you can go with passive instrument
Got RAH tickets!!! I'm sooo happy!!! Anyone else coming, Thumbs up!!!
at the end of the day stand in front of 5000 people and play your own spiritual music
I like Joe because he seems to be a regular guy and not stuck on himself, because he's a master blues/rock guitar player, because he entertains us with his great music, and because he “just does it” (his music) regardless of what any naysayers say now, or may have said in the past. In very early childhood Joe actually made a decision to work steadily and fiercely toward that goal. He practiced hard, worked relentlessly, and now he gets to reap the rewards of all that work...and so do WE! This performance reflects so much practice and all the work he has done. It's definitely unique! And AMAZING!!!
By the way, Joe, you and your concerts are very cool. Love everything about them…and your beautiful guitars! Most of all, I love your music!!! Attending one of your concerts is on my bucket list.
In the early 80s, I went downtown to catch B.B. King in an open-air festival tent with a couple of friends. B.B. brings this 12 yr. old out on stage, and the young man proceeds to completely blow us away. We stood there mesmerized and slack-jawed watching a very young Joe Bonamassa. I'm pretty sure he's from around here (western NY), and I catch him when he rolls through. It's always a great show.
Mine too! 😇🎆🎇🎉
The best I've ever seen.
Grand slam! Mighty fine, mighty fine guitar pickin, Joe. expect nothing less from " The Best".
Joe Bonamassa, you are a guitar genius. Incomparable technique, creative jamming and a great voice. And thanks for the free download of this performance. It's gorgeous.
with only six strings and one voice, there you go!

Ok we have to take this seriously this is the most talented guitarist I ever fucking see
Unbelievable that Joe is never listed as a top 50 guitarist in the world by the biased polls who always pick their favorite commercial artists-Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Richards, Van Halen, etc. That is a complete shame as Joe is and always No.1! Seen him many times and he gets better every second.
freaking awseome performance cant belive how fast picking hand he has and to strike evry note so clean ......Unbelievable my favorite song and much others frome him ......maestro Smoking Joe. we are privileged to watch living legend
Joe is Wreckin it!!!
Oh Hell Yeah!!
Oh 6 minutes in... he’s not done blowing my mind. Thanks Joe
As someone who tried to play guitar, and failed Joe Bonamassa amazes me, and has done so since he was seven years old.
He is one with his guitar.
The best Joe Bonamassa's interpretation of Woke Up Dreaming!!!
Joe's father once told him "You have the electric guitar down, but your acoustic needs work". Okay, Dad, here ya go!".
I always wonder how often he gets lost and starts improvising.
Every guitarist worth a damm has done that.
I realise now, I have been playing the acoustic guitar wrong.
I realise that I just can't play good enough. LOL
LOL
Jacob Clarke how true makes me want to throw mine away
Lol
His incredible talent draws you into a world of total pleasure with every move he makes with the guitar and voice. A magnetic pouring of all he has into a one-of-a-kind performance.
Damn, That acoustic guitar made sounds I've never heard before. I was so into his performance, I forgot where I was. Masterful !
Absolutely stunning
Never seen anyone master their craft as gracefully. Phenomenal
he blows me AWAY, intoxicating..
I don’t know how many of you know he plays for Beth Heart and the song I just want to take care of you is another absolutely fantastic song Beth Heart has a voice that will give you goosebumps incredible singer
I can't walk and chew gum at the same time so to listen to him play in such a wondrous manner is unbelievable and to sing as he does is wonderful.
IF JOE EVER GETS JOBLESS HE CAN STILL PLAY ON THE STREET AND SLEEP EVERY NIGHT AT THE HILTON ANYWAYS
All I can say is simply incredible! I would love to hear Joe play some Flamenco. I have no words to describe this man, I am left speechless with every song he plays.
Joe Bonamassa is unique. 🎸
CHACHAUUUUU🔥🔥
