Seeing these comments makes me so proud.Corey is a cousin of mine who I unfortunately I have never gotten the chance to meet. I myself live and breath music and seeing his raw amazing talent it’s a breath of fresh air.To see how loved and appreciated he was is truly amazing.RIP Corey I reallly wish we would have gotten the chance to meet .maybe on the other side. Xox until then I’m sure you will keep the party rockin up in sky
Plays like Stevie Ray Vaughn solo. Even if one copies a style it takes a lot to learn that style in any music. Kenny or any individual should be commended for their ability. Usually they add a great amount of their own finesse style, talent, and abilities. Kenny does an excellent job on this song and it is a pleasure to learn. Unique chords and tonal.
I saw them up close in Fort Wayne Indiana during this time and I fell madly in love with Kenny and his Stratocastor, and just melted on such great vocals of Sterling. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Saw Kenny at the Hard Rock in Vegas . Think it was his first tour. Had an extra ticket , took a friend who had never heard of him. Mr. Shepherd blew the roof off the joint that night. My friend thanked me for years lol and became an instant fan.
I've just started really listening to Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Not knocking the current singer by any means he's a bad ass vocalist but his original singer (I believe Corey is his name) has a great blues voice. Been listening to the Ledbetter Heights album. That's one hell of an album. I need to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd live. Badass guitarist
I have a hard time watching the current singer (Noah). He's been doing it for years, but still very awkward on stage. Corey has natural "cool" stage presence, knew to back up and let KWS shine.
"tales from the music hood". one night i was wandering around watertown, n.y., where i did open mics at a local bar. i was walking past another bar and they had a sign out advertising kenny wayne playing that night. this must have been around 1991 or '92. i stuck around for the show. kenny wayne was awesome, but the bar was tiny and packed so tight people could hardly move- which really cut down the appreciation of the music.i stepped out for a smoke and got into a conversation with the roadie. they had the whole setup for the band packing in a little tow- behind trailer hauled by a pickup truck! swear to god! i stuck around after the show and helped load the gear into the trailer and got an autographed picture for thanks. i wish i hadn't given that picture to my bass player bob to put up on the wall of his coffee shop, but i did!
Wow only 19 an such a virtuoso display... self taught and playing seriously since he was 7...how friggin cool... great tribute #... with such command and assurance. .WOW.. thanx for the upload
Once again at Austin City Limits TV recording concert an artist brings his "A" game and leaves us with this now "Classic Performance". Smokin' hot .....
this lad is UNBELIEVABLE - lovin' that whoop ass Tejas vibe and sicko chops!!! a new favourite band - superior guitar and vox!!! man diggin' this guy!!!
zedheadful Kenny Wayne is Awesome. been listening to him for about 20 years. Shotgun Blues Blue On Black Oh Well few songs for you to look up. Your gonna really like this dude!!
never get sick of this tune... this line up was FINE... i love the new line up as well... but as i said... never get sick of this tune and those shwa vox!!!!
listen, i LOVE corey stirling. from my home town. he saw us play and complimented ME!!!! BUT AS MUCH AS I FEEL HE IS ON A LAP WITH PAUL RODGERS, THIS NEW GUY BELTS IT BIG TIME. AWESOME.
The ultimate high energy hypnotic rock and roll song. It wil never to bettered by anyone. The whole band is right on. What Kenny does is take the basic guitar runs and integrates them into a fast smooth flowing artistical way.
noah is an awesome singer to be paired with kenny!! they're like a flashback. and if you don't like them, why would you be here?!! (of all places to be on the tube?),
correction- if kenny wayne was only sixteen in '96 it must have been around that time that i sorta roadied for him in watertown,- not '91 or '92 like i stated in my previous post. and as i recall, i believe he may have had corey singing backup that night, too. great song!
AndyGinterBlues I had no idea he was that young then...I was listening to him when he first came out while I was in High School back home in East Texas...didn't realize we were about the same age...
He got hooked on drugs, and got fired boys. My uncle Bill Williams was a photographer for Stevie Ray Vaughn. He also got to know Kenny dad. When shit went haywire Bill told Kenny about this guy named Noah Hunt from Cincinnati in a band called Uncle Six . Next thing you know Noah flew to Louisiana and auditioned. The rest is history. Noah dropped my buddy David Cornett and Uncle Six and got the part. Facts . Weird for me because I used to hang out with him and my uncle hooked him up with the spot.
Been trying to discover whatever happened to Corey Sterling .... no luck. Over and above that, does anyone else see his resemblance to Heath Ledger ... just darker hair? Mmmmm, maybe it's just me.
It's a voicing of an A7#5 chord SRV used to play. He's not playing the major 3rd though so you could also equally think of it as an Amin7, although that wouldn't be a 'correct' choice in a song in A major (although who cares about that if it sounds good). Hear it as a 7#5 in Voodoo Chile et al of course with the major 3rd and as a min7 in SRV's version of Superstition. :-)
Corey Sterling was one of the best singers ive ever heard or jammed with. THEY DONT COME BETTER! ❤ R.I.P. Corey Sterling

Corey is the man..Noone beats his bluesy pipes...Hope the Creator helps him find his way back to the music...

SHEPARD IS AWSOME! NOTHING LIKE A GREAT GUITAR 🎸 PLAYER!

a great album, especially when you consider he was only 18 when it came out

Kenny Wayne busted out with his young but seemingly natural blues guitar! One of the best white boys out there! Rock on, son!
"SRV reincarnated"...I exclaimed when KWS opened for Bob Dylan in Mesa,AZ at the tender age of 17!
Love this guy's voice!!

Corey Sterling is The Man! Not sure Kenneth did the right thing letting him go.
Corey is a buddy of mine !! He s an awesome singer !!! Kenny ripped him off so fuckin bad !!!
Ripped him off? lol
He got hooked on drugs, and got fired boys. My uncle Bill Williams was a photographer for Stevie Ray Vaughn. He also got to know Kenny dad. Anyone else see a little Heath Ledger in Corey's face? Makes me a bit sadder for both of them.
Nice pipes
Corey Sterling, unfortunately he destroyed his singing voice, according to his son, with smoking and drinking.
Yeah, I heard the same thing. Back in might have even been on this thread... You know f****** Stoners what can you do right?
They were just babies back then.
hate to admit this. I thought that was Noah Hunt and said so on you tube. I need to shut up. KWS is a God to me.
Hey man don't beat yourself up, Noah had an excellent set of pipes to... Plus, you know the weed was pretty good back then right? LOL

Been trying to discover whatever happened to Corey Sterling .... no luck.
Over and above that, does anyone else see his resemblance to Heath Ledger ... just darker hair? Mmmmm, maybe it's just me.

KWS While we cry Aman son of the south
It's a voicing of an A7#5 chord SRV used to play. He was really young in this also ..
can anyone give me some history on the guitar Kenny is playing on this video ???? Thanks
