That one part where Obiwan finally sees Anakin's exposed face for the first time, illuminated by the blue light from Obiwan's lightsaber, and he says "I am not your failure, Obiwan. You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did." made me think that maybe he was miraculously forgiving Obiwan in that moment. But once his face started to become illuminated red and he says "The same way I will destroy you." I was like well shit.

Also scenes where they have chemistry that is miles above the prequels. Yeah, we can still look back and appreciate what they did more as time not only goes on, but gives us shows like these which give better context to stuff that needed more time in the prequels and better handling and execution. However, that is also why we have to remember that there is a reason we still cannot view the prequels as this god-tier level of filmmaking that the things that didn’t make them work as films, since similar issues befall The Hobbit and Fantastic Beasts…more so with Fantastic Beasts.

It's weird, but the Star Wars prequels are aging very well, and I think that the Kenobi series is accelerating that process. Take Hayden Christensen for example, his casting and subsequent portrayal of Anakin/Vader wasn't met with the most positive of receptions, but now he's beloved as those characters and has cemented his legacy in Star Wars lore. I don't know if I'll be able to say the same about Daisy Ridley and the "Skywalker" trilogy movies lol, but I'll keep on open mind.

They're not aging well at all, they are still as terrible as they day they where released, but the kids who saw them back when they came out are aging, and they liked them back in the day, because you know, kids. And there's nothing wrong with that, if you like something you like it, but the movies themselves are objectivly bad. Bad writing, bad acting(mostly due to the bad writing) everything looks sterile and clean and boring, the plot is absolutely moronic if you stop to think about it even for a few minutes.
I don't actually hate the prequels, but I was never a HUGE Star Wars fan to begin with, I liked the original Trilogy for sure, I think the first 2 are very good movies, while the third is a bit less great imo, but still a very enjoyable watch. When the prequels came out, I was excited to see them ofc, but they felt like a let down in basically every single way, but yeah, I don't hate them or anything, even though they are not good movies.

Because safe is the only thing that can please most of the fan base. Telling a good story In Star Wars means having contractions and absurd plot points. @@matthewstrey5606 I totally disagree, with the perfect example being called "The Mandalorian" (but also Rogue One for instance). So it just depends on who is writing and directing, and IT IS possible.
Disney should have learned from the sequel trilogy hate and just get some good writers that are worth the millions they cost. Obi-Wan felt like it was written by children, which completely ruined it for me. There was barely any drama, everything was just ridiculously resolved by plot convenience and horrible character decisions. Star Wars can be dark, you saw that in Episode V and VI, it can be fun too, which you saw in Episode I that I like nowadays (I already lowered my standards in hindsight).
I have high hopes about 'Andor', the series coming in August, it was done by the Rogue One creators, which was exactly the Star Wars we need, and the trailer looks good.

I'll say something right off the bat: I think Lucas actually helped to very simply, and quickly, explain Kenobi's lie to Luke about his father being "betrayed and murdered" by Vader. When he and Yoda learn of Anakin's involvement in the slaughter of the Jedi at the temple, he pleads with Yoda to let him fight Palpatine because he wouldn't be able to fight or kill Anakin. Yoda is the one to tell him that Anakin is dead, betrayed and murdered by Vader. After watching the duel between Kenobi and Vader, it wasn't a huge leap for me to come to the conclusion that Kenobi hammered that particular "point of view" into his mind during his long exile.
Now with that said, I think Vader's statement to Kenobi in the finale of "Obi-Wan Kenobi" was great. I could have accepted my previous interpretation, but Obi-Wan using Vader's own words was very poetic, imo.

I just watched the entire series in a matter of three days. After hearing such negative reviews of it, a friend of mine said it was amazing. I was reluctant but he invited me over and we watched the first four episodes back to back.
I was blown away by how good the series was in the first four episodes. It was grounded in what typical humans would do like Obi Wan being depressed and like a vagabond, just drifting through life because he has this tremendous burden on his shoulders, in his eyes, failing the Jedi and failing Anakin only to be shocked that he is alive! Talk about trauma! I liked that he was rusty in his Jedi abilities and lightsaber skills when he was facing Darth Vader the first time. This just seemed so logical and grounded in reality imo. I enjoy Obi's character arc in this show, very touching!
The final two episodes were simply amazing, especially the final fight between Vader and Obi! I was literally crying like a baby by just the interaction between them, not only the physical fight but the dialogue and mental obstacles being overcome by Obi. Was simply amazing and enjoyed every minute of it.
I am a big critic of Disney and don't really like them as a company and the direction they are going but this show is an exception to the rule. I'm a creative in Hollywood, and I've been watching Chris for years so it's important for this to be said... Since Chris took the leap into the directing pool his reviews have changed dramatically. He no longer grades movies and he will not say a single bad word about a Disney property (check the videos). This is so ridiculous. It's so obviously he's trying to play the Hollywood game because he's either afraid of Disney or wants to worm his way into directing Disney IP at some point. It clear as day... In fact, for a writer director to not point out problems with Obi-Wan and to say "I loved it" means he is either a terrible writer, terrible critic, or lying... You can love Obi Won, but there are incredibly poor elements to the show that an honest critic should point out.
I personally don't have a problem with this because I am in Hollywood and clearly see what he is doing (every person in Dishonest-wood does this dance publicly), but don't turn on your camera and record videos where you're trying to fool your subscribers with your vanilla reviews. Just shut down your challenge and go direct movies. Or say "I am doing the Hollywood dance because I want to slobber my way into directing Hollywood films...".
You built a fanbase by being a critic... but you're so clearly not doing that anymore. It's dishonest.

The problem is that I have watched nearly all of his video for a decade and the change is glaring. You want easy proof... Where is his "Worst Movies of 2021"?? Chris is no longer an honest movie critic which he was for nearly a decade. He's being dishonest and also asking you to finance his film... How can anyone even pretend to consider themselves a valid critic of the medium when they're actively terrified of criticising films/tv shows now? We criticise products as a means of maintaining high standards and that becomes ever more paramount when you have such a large following who rely on your opinions. It's not inherently negative so long as its constructive and rational, and the fact is, the vast majority of the complaints made against this show are constructive and rational, and especially with regards to glaring plotholes, contrivances and things that just muddy the waters of Star Wars continuity. There's a reason why this show has a mediocre 75% critic rating, and even worse 65% user rating on RT; it's because it's a mediocre, lazily written show, elevated only in so much as its cheap fan service and rememberberries.
It's a shame as once upon a time, Chris would be able to point these things out as any good critic should and I've relied on those rational reviews to influence what I've watched in the past. Its so unfair to love or like a film or a tv show and be hated on by other people because you don't have the same opinion. THAT's bulling and totally unfair you guys. 😭😭🙂👍❤💔❣

Great point about "critical eye" and basing your appreciation of a Disney Star Wars feature on what your decisions would be if you were to be in charge. Ewan was great. Obi-Wan provided us a chance to see him expand on the character. Regardless of inconsistencies, we have another Star Wars show to appreciate for years to come and hopefully it will get its due praise. Chris Stuckmann you don't see any faults with this series?
The transition from film reviewer to film creator is now complete I guess.
What the new obi-wan series added to the star wars legacy.
    1) Hunting sequences where 10-year-olds outrun adult bounty hunters, sith, and jedi.
    2) 10-year-olds being wiser and smarter than adults.
    3) Having lightsabers thrust through the chest is 100% not deadly.
    4) Teleporting Villains, on par with Jason from Friday the 13 movies, and video games.
    5) Powers fluctuate from Useless to superpowerful based on the needs of the plot, instead of being the constant that shapes the plot.
    6) Obi-Wan is responsible for all the deaths in the original movies.

With that said, I have to admit I was disappointed by a major portion of the show. I was not able to get emotionally involved until the finale. There, they finally got me with probably the most emotional lightsaber duel in SW (minus, Luke vs Anakin, maybe).
Looking back, I think I would have wanted the show to really focus entirely on Obi and Anakin. Tie the present with their past, and so on. Leia was fine, but I really expected this story to be about Obi-Wan. We did not get enough of that.

I was enthralled by the novelty of seeing Ewan and Hayden on the screen again in roles they were TERRIBLY criticised and ridiculed for two decades ago, and i feel having that appreciation for the context behind which this show was delivered was big for me. I was grateful to have it and I think they _did a good job._ Reva's arc is a poignant lesson delivered by a wonderful actor. Leia and Obi-Wan share a relationship that, by all accounts, Obi-Wan likely never thought he'd get again - the last person to make him laugh _before Leia_ that we see being _Anakin himself._ it touched upon so many beautiful threads and wove them back into ones that'd been hanging loose for 20+ years and I just. yeah. thank you for this video. I needed it and I wholeheartedly empathise :)

My issue is that they put more time and care into a series about a random mandalorian than they did with Obi-Wan. It’s fucking Obi-Wan! He’s arguably the most important character in the entire franchise. Growing up loving Star Wars, Obi-Wan has always been my favorite out of all characters, and I just feel like this was incredibly underwhelming. That being said, what were the best parts of this series? Obi-Wan and Vader interacting. Those two could sit down and have tea and I’m there for it on the edge of my seat. I love seeing more from the inquisitors too which we’ve never seen much of. But man, why did the budget seem so terrible for a Disney show? Why did I see obi wan’s lightsaber bounce off someone and not go through them? What was up with Tala slapping that storm trooper in the helmet? I’m torn.
