I was just at Slipknot's 25th anniversary show the other night and in between sets they played 'In the End'. Everyone sang Chester's parts, and it was so cathartic and icing on the cake, it was raining. * Edit for additional info; this was in Idaho on Wednesday for those asking which show. I don't have any video of it, my phone was dying in my pocket. Amazing show, the brotherhood in the crowd was wonderful.
I was at the Forum show. Cried like 5 times during songs, and when the stadium started chanting "Linkin Park! Linkin Park!,"... it's never gonna be the same, but I'm glad LP is out again and keeping Chester's contributions alive the way it was meant to be experienced: Live. Leave Out All the Rest was incredibly difficult for me, so glad it was Mike that sang it.
Ironically, I also grew up in a cult separated from the outside world, but once I finally escaped at the age of 16 and began to find my way, I found slipknot among other metal bands and instantly fell in love. Since then, I've discovered and listened to many, many bands both in and out of the genre but slipknot remains particularly special and so deep hitting to me. Esp in the album Iowa, so much of both the lyrics and also the emotion behind it struck with me to a level nothing has before or after then. Been a proud maggot since then 🤘🤘🤘
They are certified jams for sure, and I was never even a big linkin park fan, of course being born during/at the end of their time being huge certainly delayed me experiencing them
No one ever remembers the drummer… Edit: Okay, let me rephrase. I’m mildly disappointed that most people who hear a song will probably not know the names of all the artists involved. Thank you for naming your favorite drummers. Happy you’re so passionate about this.
I think the point is something else: anyone who grew up with Linkin Park can’t separate them from Chester. We knew that whoever came in to replace him, it would end up like this, or close to it. The thing is, as much as we all, I believe, understand that if the band or Mike feels the need to continue expressing themselves musically with Linkin Park, they should do it, our inner child, our angry teenager, our melancholic self who found comfort in Chester’s voice, in those old songs sung with so much emotion by that voice, angelic and gritty at the same time (both on the albums and live), subconsciously screams “NO!” Because in the end, anyone who grew up with and loved them has a visceral connection with Chester, who was able to give voice to so many emotions through songs that were as introspective as they were liberating. The fact that there was also this unfortunate choice of "Emily+Scientology+Masterson" was just the cherry on top, giving a more tangible reason for rejection, considering Chester’s past, both his personal struggles and his efforts to help others through initiatives like Music For Relief. Personally, I’ve tried every way to enjoy that kind of karaoke, but you can clearly see there’s no emotional connection or link when singing the songs from the early albums, aside from the technical and vocal limitations. I believe, maybe wrongly, that this might also be one of the reasons why Rob (the drummer, who left) and Brad (the guitarist, who chose to stay behind the scenes and not participate in live performances) decided to step back. I still can’t imagine how hard it must be to get up on stage after a loss like that, even many years later. I will continue to miss Chester, even though I never met him in person. I’ll keep feeling a lump in my throat when I listen to One More Light or when I think about how I’ll never hear another song written (along with Mike), conceived, rehearsed, and sung by Chester.
That was so beautifully written, especially the first paragraph. You hit the nail on the head as to why so many of us have difficultly "moving on" from Chester despite Linkin Park seemingly moving towards that direction. Thank you for putting it in words so eloquently.
It’s crazy as fuck to me that people seem to think the other band members, the people Chester loved most, wouldn’t pick someone who fits well and honors his memory. These takes are an insult to Chester’s friends. It’s kind of gross.
Hey, you should watch the interview right after the announcement. Hearing Mike talk about it gives you a feeling of how it all came together. Although Chester was the most prominent persona Mike has been the driving force behind Linking Park since the beginning. Trust his judgement and give them some time, listen to the album and maybe you can enjoy their music even if it is in a different way. Side note: Rob decided to leave long before Emily and Brad doesn't like being on tour anymore (loud environments/to old).
Chester Bennington passing was the only time I've ever felt sadness or shed tears when a celebrity passed. Felt weird knowing I'd never hear anything new from him ever again, especially since LP's music was so critical to helping me grow into a fully fledged human creature.
Yo, if that music helped you grow into a person, then ya might not be a good person. If ya really pay attention to the music, it's not exactly saying "hey i'm a healthy functioning adult" and more "i don't know how to deal with my problems"
Chester’s kids went to my elementary school, his kids were the same age as a family friend. I was obviously much older than the kids but had met him on multiple occasions. The week before he passed away I saw/spoke with him at a kids birthday party. Extremely depressing as he had a beautiful family

Anybody curious to who Cedric is he was a former member of the Church of Scientology and he was the vocalist for At The Drive-In and currently The Mars Volta. His wife Chrissie was a victim of Masterson and that's why they left the church because the church tried to cover it up. Ironically, Linkin Park named their band "Hybrid Theory" before deciding on "Linkin Park." So, having a tribute band named themselves after their former name/1st LP album is very poetic.
They abandoned the Hybrid Theory name because of legal issues with some electronic group named Hybrid. Which obviously nobody ever heard of. That's like Bethesda suing Mojang over Scrolls. You can't own a single word, least of all when your "competitor" isn't even doing the same thing as you. It is active opposition against artistic freedom. It is the literal opposite of someone with a different name actually stealing and implementing your ideas. Anyway, all that to say it's even more ironic how an obscure tribute band was able to use the same name Linkin Park originally wanted.
@@JustSomeKittenwithaGunThat sucks they had to change their name. It also doesn't bring any good publicity to Hybrid. Imagine being known as the group that made a Linkin Park tribute band change their name just because it had the word "Hybrid" in it.

I was talking with someone in LA about Scientology, because there’s a building for them there. She’d never heard of all the heinous shit Scientologists have done. She was really supportive of it until I mentioned Lisa McPherson. She clammed right up, barely looked at me, mumbled one word responses. She left quickly afterwards. If you know a Scientologist, keep tabs on them. Do not go into unsafe areas with them by yourself.
There's a good chance she knew of some of the shady shit Scientologists have done. If she's not locked up behind their doors how could you not. It's 2024. Information gets spread very easily. There are groups of people that stand outside of that building all in the effort to make sure no one goes in, shouting out loud for all to hear what is going on. If she is supportive of Scientology she probably is one, so if you bring up stuff like that to them, especially near their building where they have eyes and ears everywhere, I'm sure they would get antsy and scurry off.
@@champ1159 Scientologists do not believe in psychiatric care. Lisa McPherson was involved in a minor traffic accident, and started behaving erratically in the aftermath. She initially told medical providers that she removed all of her clothes in an attempt to prompt them to give her psychiatric care. While she was still lucid enough to know something was wrong, she was asking for help. The Church of Scientology pulled her out of the hospital out of fear that she would receive psychiatric care, likely coercing her into rejecting treatment. They locked her up in isolation for 17 days as she started slipping into what seems to have been a psychotic break or other severe state of mental illness. She refused food and water and was inflicting harm upon herself. The Scientologists attempted to treat her using their fake homeopathic medicine, as well as using real drugs to sedate her. At some point they contacted a Scientologist medical doctor (a real doctor who was also a scientologist to be clear) and demanded he prescribe her an antibiotic sight unseen, as they believed she had an infection. He refused to do so without seeing her, and urged them to take her to a hospital, which they initially refused out of fear she would receive psychiatric care. Eventually they did relent to taking her to the aforementioned scientologist doctor's hospital 45 minutes away, passing four other hospitals on the way there. She was dead by the time she arrived; ultimately of a pulmonary embolism.
@@champ1159 Lisa McPherson was a high level Scientologist who after completing the OT Levels was found outside the Fort Harrison Hotel in Clearwater Florida in the middle of traffic acting erratically and mentally unwell. She was taken to hospital but was visited by Scientologists who persuaded her to check out of the hospital. She was then taken back to a Scientology compound where she was ‘safe pointed’ - isolated and kept in horrific, unsanitary conditions where those around her were ordered not to talk to her while she dealt with her mental breakdown independently. After a couple of weeks and with her condition rapidly deteriorating, she was taken to a Scientologist doctor who said wtf, get her out of here. She died shortly after. She was skin and bones and covered in Insect bites. Scientology did everything they could to cover up her death.
My issue with Amy being a scientologist is that by association she doesn't believe any of the issues Chester went through are real, scientology believes people suffering from depression should just "be happier" and feels like a slap in the face to his memory.

@@alexgrover7693 Control over your mental (well-)being is as deep to the core of scientology as the inherited (the original) sin in christianity. If you don't believe that we are born without sin, whatever you are, you can't be a christian - because it is to absolve you of this very sin that jesus came down and died at the cross for. If you called yourself a christian anyway, you would be one in name only - inspired by christianity perhaps. It'd be just as absurd as calling yourself a christian but not believing in the holy spirit, despite it belonging to the holy trinity. Back to scientology, they believe that you can and should reach higher spiritual/mental levels (yes, they are deemed as essentially the same), which they base on some brain activity data - they actually meassure your biometrics like with an EEG. The higher you score, the better your life will be, when their brain-souls are being collected in an event that is somewhat similar to the rapture. The point being, that this is not just some random verse that you can attempt to rationalize away or mental-gymnastics your way out of. It is literally one of the most integral parts of their faith.
Unlike the clueless people eager to fantasize and spew out some bs, I actually read at least a little bit about Scientology views on mental health. I love that the tribute band named themselves “Hybrid Theory.” It’s not only an homage to that first legendary album, but it’s also what the original band name was meant to be, before choosing Linkin Park.
Linkin park sucks ass and has never made a single good song. Everyone who is brainwashed into liking them just has member-berries of a better time in life when they hear their shit music. It's funny that Linkin Park changed their name from Hybrid Theory because there was a Jazz or Fink band with that name, yet now we have a Linkin Park tribute band called Hybrid Theory. What happened to that other Hybrid Theory, I wonder? 😅
My issue with Emily has been her supporting Danny. Chester was sexually assaulted as a child and it really fucked him up. I just can't get over Linkin Park replacing Chester with rapist supporter who belongs to an organization that believes mental health is a "fraud". I think she is just trying her hardest to help her PR. She can be a fan of Linkin Park, but she shouldn't be the one to replace Chester.

Others have already said it but I agree: having a new singer is one thing, but deciding to reunite with a new singer that doesn't believe in mental illness when your previous frontman took his own life, struggled severely with mental illness, and the majority of their songs are about that struggle, is disrespectful. The band has its popularity now because of Chester's hardwork and enormous contributions, to have her benefit from his legacy and basically believe that the reason he died is bs is just unconscionable to me.
Everyone says she doesn't believe in mental illness, but she hasn't been associated with scientology for nearly a decade, and has made multiple songs with lyrics referring to mental health struggles and suicide. People are just way too quick to jump on the controversy without knowing the ins and outs
Don't make claims you can't back up. There is no evidence anywhere that I've seen suggesting that Emily doesn't believe in mental illness. There's not even any evidence that Emily is an active member of the church. She's never publicly said anything about it, and there are lyrics to some of the songs she sang from Dead Sara that seem to go against their teachings. But even if she was an active member, that still wouldn't mean that she doesn't believe in mental illness. Religious people deviate from their religion all the time. For example, most Christians don't believe 100% of what the Bible says.
A little context: At The Drive In is one of Chester’s all time favorite bands, and he even used to play their songs at Linkin Park shows occasionally. So if you’re a hardcore LP fan, Cedric calling out Emily and telling Linkin Park to stop playing his songs is huge deal.
Yeah but Cedric is infamously a giant douche all around in every scenario, so this doesn't really have any special weight to it. He's basically Don Henley but metal.
9:40 me too man, I wanted to see them when I was in Peru, but it was just a bit too expensive for me at the time, regretted it a lot, cause Chester pasted away a couple months after
Who's been trying to speak out against Scientology's teachings for 20 years and never even got to join willingly because her parents were so deep into the cult by the time she was born that she has no way out without risking serious and possibly even lethal harm to herself or her family? The cult's basically got her by the metaphorical balls, and the most she can do is speak out in ways that aren't so immediately obvious.
I remember reading an article once a couple years back that had an interview with Linkin Park's surviving members. One of the questions that was asked was something along the lines of "If you do go on tour without Chester, have you considered a hologram alternative?" And their answer was very telling. I don't remember which band member said it but the response was that they visibly cringed and said something along the lines of, "Can we not talk about having a hollow image of our dead best friend on stage, please?" I'm glad to see them move in another direction, I haven't decided on the new lead singer yet though. I think I'll sit on it and wait for more info or songs to come out.

yea and his son also has restraining orders placed on himself from his own mother and Mike due to him trying to accuse Mike and the band for "being in on it" when it came to chester dying. Jamie isnt mentally stable at all so idk if you really wanna be taking anything he says at face value like this.
I just fact checked this by searching. what you say checks out. Something to note though, is masses of LP fans are apperently sending death threats to his son over him speaking about the emily situation. Which is actually sickening.

When mike and the organizers didnt replied he put it on his IG that Mike didnt give him free tickets so that some hardcore fans would later give him 2 tickets. All these are only 1 day after he went off on Mike and Emily.
I just think it’s an insult to the memory of Chester to have a scientologist be his stand-in. Having someone replace your friend who commit suicide with someone in a cult that doesn’t believe in mental health and psychiatry, not to mention someone who supported a convicted rapist/sex offender, while Chester was a survivor of sexual violence as a child.
This comment should be at the top. The fact that the other band members either didn't know or didn't care about her ties to Scientology and Danny Masterson is just infuriating.
The biggest take away here is that Chester Bennington was a victim of sexual assault. Most of their songs are about fighting the demons insdie of from the aftermath of an abuse. So it is an insult fir Chester that he's getting replaced by a person that defended a rapist.
Well to be fair Emily did condone it in the post. Scientology also is a fucking headache if you leave, you see the way Leah remini was hounded for years for speaking against it? Secondly Scientology more than likely forced her to go to those hearings, and she didn’t choose Scientology she was born into it, she hasn’t promoted it from what I’ve seen, honestly it’s a nothing burger of a issue
She doesn't condone the rapist though? She has gone on to say that she had too much faith in someone she knew, and never spoke to him, or condoned anything he did after he was found guilty.
The subject goes deep. There's so much that a person needs to know to fully understand. Where I think Scientology in a lot of situations, rely on people not knowing. If you look at her apology letter, you will notice she did not mention Danny Masterson's name. Now you will say we all knew who she was talking about. Here's the thing, she wasn't allowed to mention his name, because technically mentioning his name, what is going against a Scientologist. ( Sounds weird but that's how they get around it) You are not allowed to talk negatively about another Scientologist who is in good standing. Because he is still not kicked out of Scientology or considered as they would say a suppressive person. Another thing you would see with the apology letter, she never addresses the actual victims of Danny Masterson. She just makes a blanket statement of I stand by all victims. Her being in Scientology she is not allowed to mention any of Danny Masterson victims names. Because the victims of Danny Masterson's are considered suppressive people. Which means you cannot even utter their name. If you do you will get in trouble. They have this thing which is an interrogation that you have to pay for, for example if she did directly address Danny Masterson's victims. So that apology letter was meticulously written. Probably buy Scientology PR. Her mother, is high up in Scientology and writes for the Scientology magazine and does PR. A lot of the ex- Scientology community , feel sad for Emily, they're actually not against Emily, it is not that they don't want her to be the singer. Because she also was mistreated as a child she grew up at a place called The ranch. Where parents just abandoned their children there. Where they did hard labor. If she comes out and says she no longer believes in Scientology. If she comes out and says I don't believe in Scientology. Which would be a simple sentence. That could possibly leave her to lose her entire family and friends in Scientology. Which is called disconnection. With the ex scientologists & having under the radar scientologists,, they do have extremely good connections. Plus this is how Scientology always handle things like this. They would have had thoroughly vetted Linkin Park. (Linkin Park members would know that this is what they were doing,) It's even one of the members had something slightly negative to say about Scientology. They would have a handler to handle it. Then as she's in the band they slowly implement people into the entire band's lives. Hey you need an assistant we have one for you, you need a babysitter we have one for you & it's free. You have the people from the Sea org.(Sea org. - are the most dedicated, who were 24/7, never get a break, only get paid maybe, $50 a week, 47 after taxes) this is different than a regular public Scientologist. To where you are suddenly surrounded by Scientologists. Where the band is not aware, the people around them are, reporting on them daily. nothing is off limits. To the band's most personal business. Especially, maybe information one of the band members would not want to get out. For Scientology to weaponize. Emily is also a victim of Scientology she was born into it. Her mother is not. She knows what she's doing. Guaranteed, her mother and father, plus Scientology have connections. They made sure Emily grew up hanging out with Danny Masterson and Friends. To have the connections to say to be picked for Linkin Park. I can go on and on and on. That is where it gets complicated. Scientology is relying on, it just be too much for people to go digging for all the information that you would need to know to make an educated opinion. I feel sad . That's all I'll say.
It's sad that people aren't accepting this and just hating her for only the association. They do not fully understand the whole situation surrounding Emily and Scientology. If she *COULD* speak out she almost certainly would've done so by now. I stand to agree with you that the insta post was purposefully curated to be as vague as possible to avoid bad mouthing Danny, lest her world come collapsing in on her, likely at her mother's hand. People also don't understand that Mike had been recording with Emily behind the scenes for multiple years before the official announcement. Mike likely wanted to vet her just as much as you say Scientology wanted to vet LP. I hope Mike and the rest of the lads keep her safe from anything Scientology related. I trust Mike knows what he is doing, and after hearing The Emptiness Machine for the first time, I eagerly await the rest of From Zero and wish Emily nothing but the best with LP and wish her luck that she can escape Scientology.
@@syberracer2984 "It's sad that people aren't accepting this and just hating her for only the association." Don't worry, the Emily situation is still new, as time passes, Emily will grow on the community and eventually, they will learn to like her (well, most of the time, anyway).

One of the things that bothers me is the scientology thing, because everyone knows how DEPRESSION took Chester Benington away from everyone, and scientology claims there is no such thing and that people should just SUCK IT UP and refuse treatment for that, because they say "mental health is a scam", unlike a place that charge you thousands of dollars to be hook to a bipping needle that says you are lying and confess all your secrets or else.

The news of new vocalist made me go on LP marathon and realize how much I miss Chester. I know that Linkin Park wasn't just him, but his voice and lyrics made "The" Linkin Park I grew up listening and loving. It's hard for me to stand by someone who doesn't believe in mental illness (until she herself proves she does believe), when Chester struggled with mental health issues, he used his career and voice to spread love and kindness, and he knew their music was helping those who struggled too. At the end of the day, they deserve to continue making music and I wish them nothing but success, but to me Linkin Park ended in 2017.
@@disturbed1734 I mean, you might be right, but artists of all types often feel a compulsion to create. That doesn’t just turn off. The rest of band is still alive and they still want to make music. Personally, I liked the new song well enough but it ultimately makes me miss Chester so I doubt I’ll seek out more of their new stuff. But I can understand them wanting to keep creating.
That's how a lot of people feel. Chester's death was a huge loss for music and I think we all still kinda feel it, especially anyone who suffers from depression (I do). But I understand the band wanting to keep making music and they went for a completely different sound, probably to show respect for Chester's creations.
Replacing Chester is something that the band said is not what their goal was. They understand that replacing him is not only impossible due to Chester being Chester, but also disrespectful. Chester was a legend and it’d honestly be like queen replacing Freddie mercury
Yet they replaced him with a female that isn't very good at singing. If they really didn't wanna disrespect him, they shoulda started a new band, or got a good sound alike. Now the band has all this controversy. Ntm dude is dead, so I don't think he has much to say about it all.
Chester's son is super pissed about all this. He feels like they're trying to erase his dad's legacy, plus apparently September is $uicide Awareness Month so the timing of it isnt great. He made an Instagram post about all this, but I guess Linkin Park folks all have him blocked so he couldnt tag them? Not sure what the history is there. But personally I think if they want to move forward with a new singer and a new sound, they should change the band's name. A vocalist is the biggest part of a band's identity, it's not going to be the same band without him.
That's an insult to the rest of the band and the other half of the vocals. I LOVE Chester and his vocals and who he was as a person, but to say he was basically all of Linkin Parks identity just isn't true.
But let's say they changed the band's name, they would still play Linkin Park songs at concerts, people listening to them would still be Linkin Park fans. So what would be even the point if it still would be Linkin Park?
@@hubson1443 good point. But will they still be singing old Linkin Park songs? Or are they moving on with the new album? Because having a new singer try to recreate the old songs would be impossible, they sound completely different. That would be like Marshall Dutton going on stage with Hinder and singing Lips Of An Angel (which I hope is not something that actually happened).
@@JaneIndigo92 We already had 2 concerts and 1 livestream of them, all of their songs were Linkin Park songs with only one addition from the new album. They probably will add some more new songs after the album comes out but can't imagine them not singing their og classics.
Their new singer is amazing. Works so well for the group while not trying to replicate the same voice of the original singer. I can't really comment on her character but her vocals are great, just separating the art from the artist
Not So Fun Fact: The last song ever Chester Bennington made was the last track on “One More Light” called “One More Light” and the last concert he ever did the last song in that was “One More Light.” Some lyrics in that song was “Should've stayed, were there signs, I ignored? Can I help you, not to hurt, anymore?” and “The reminders pull the floor from your feet In the kitchen, one more chair than you need oh And you're angry, and you should be, it's not fair Just 'cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it, isn't there.” The signs in his music from Hybrid Theory to One More Light is astonishing that no one noticed in that whole span. Rest In Peace Chester Bennington.

Lyrically, they steal pages out of little 14yo girls diary's and throw some EDM ripoff synths on top of it and it turns thousands of fans into closeted gays LMFAO 🤣
It may seem telegraphed in hindsight, but people write these lyrics all the time. I am sure plenty of people understand that their loved ones are troubled and do try to help, its just not in the public eye. Chester still lived a life outside of the songs you listened to, and people in his life loved him. The thing is we dont know ALOT. It's pretty rare that someone takes their life without showing some signs first. But its impossible to help someone who doesn't want the help, and even if he was trying, its a tough road and doesn't always end up working. Balancing a career while dealing with a lot of pain makes you feel broken, you dont want to let those that rely on you down so sometimes you push through until it gets to be too much. And if that was his situation, he was only going to do what he decided to do, no matter what intervened.

Social anxiety ruined my chance to see Linkin Park back after they released Hybrid Theory. My brother got tickets to their show in Austin this was the one time he offered me a ticket. Scientology thinks that mental health is not real. So you can see how disrespectful that is to the late Chester Bennington that dies because of su*cide from having a mental health issue.
I think most main religious organizations don’t believe in mental health. Not trying to be a jerk but just as someone who grew up in Catholicism I have first hand experience. As well as being from Utah which is well known for Mormonism same thing though. By this logic she would have to be an atheist to not offend anyone.

Of course my parents probably chose those churches that align with their beliefs. But the fact they were able to find large ones in every city i moved too proves that its not a small amount
The reason why they would choose a vocalist who is part of a cult that doesn't believe in mental illness and treatment, something Chester was very vocal in supporting, is beyond me.
One important thing that Charlie did not mention is that she was born into scientology, she did not willingly join it. Plus she is a lesbian, which scientologists are against. That alone could be an indication that she does not want to associate herself with that cult. But like charlie said, she probably does not want to talk about it publicly at all as she might be scared of them. I am not a LP fan and I don't know the band members. I was lucky to see Linkin Park in July 2008 for my birthday. What made it amazing was Chris Cornell was touring with Chester Bennington at the same time. The tour was Project Revolution. Losing two talented vocalists in the same year is just tragic. No one can replace talent. RIP Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell
I was fortunate enough to go to Projekt Revolution in 2007, and 2008. 2008 also featured Chris Cornell. Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Audioslave were my favorite albums of all time so it was amazing. I was pretty devastated that we lost both Chester and Chris the same year, only a couple months apart. I will forever treasure the fact I got to see them both live.
She doesn't believe in mental health which is funny considering Chester advocated for mental health help and almost all the music band wrote the lyrical themes were mental health related
I could totally believe Hyde being in prison. Pretty sure he was at one point too. But he would *never* commit assault. He was a burnout degenerate pothead. He loved to steal, and that was about the extent of his immorality. He loved women just like all the other guys but he was adamant about consent.
I love Linkin Park. I remember when I found out that Chester took his own life. I was actually in public and learned about it when I was scrolling social media. In public, surrounded by strangers I broke down and cried. I myself struggle with mental health and I always felt that Chester understood what I would go through. His words spoke to me and the fact that he left, is tragic. I think that they should have started a new band while still playing a few LP classics. Chester can never be replaced.
He got killed for making a documentary about abuse of younger people and abuse in hollywood/music industry and it was about to be released. Do your homework. And chesters real dad is a known trafficker and is sadly high up in behind the scens political game. Not even conspiracy.
What bothers me is that the band and some of the fans who are on board with Emily are acting like those of us who aren't are just mad that they got a new singer (and some people are) but I, and a lot of other fans, take issue with *who* they chose as a new singer. If they just hired a new singer, that would be fine. That being said, there's no replacing Chester. Honestly, the fact that Chester's son Jaime is pissed and is calling this out saying it's disrespecting his father's legacy (and it's absolutely disrespecting Chester's legacy, as Chester was a victim of SA as a child and advocated for mental health and helped a lot of people who struggled with it like he did, and to see them hire a Scientologist, who doesn't believe in mental health and supported a convicted rapist in court as well as harassed the victims of said rapist) should be enough for people to realize how disgusting this is. I also don't buy her apology, as it seemed like damage control.
@@kalebdaynes I think if Brad, Mike, Joe and Dave all put their faith in Emily, she can't be a bad person. Talinda supports her as well. Maybe I'm wrong but I just trust the band.
My main beef is that Chester's son came out saying he wasn't sure the band shouldn't continue and Linkin Park fans told him to unalive himself in response. It's just the worst thing to say to anyone but especially to the son of a father that went out that way. That's the thing that really hurts me over all this. I haven't been able to listen to their songs (old and new) with knowing how awful this situation is for Chester's son.
You and Charlie should learn to do your fact checking as Emily isn't apart of that cult. One picture doesn't make you part of that religion, ontop of her supporting/being apart of everything Scientology heavily hates (LGBT). So maybe stop cosplaying Trump and believing every tinfoil hat theory.
She definitely isn't scientologist for some time now since she is openly gay and have some wild songs from her previous band that would also go against that religion. The problem with scientology is that they harass everyone who leaves and their families. So if she was part of it I'm pretty sure she has her own mental health issues too. Also, I don't imagine Mike not doing due diligence while picking new vocalist for LP so I at least would trust his decision. He knew Chester better.
Born into it, now openly gay which is completely in violation of Scientologies tenets, people can grow and change. If we're gonna hold someone being born into a cult against them their whole life you leave them no room to escape. Just admit you're being a dick. We all miss Chester, but ironically people in cults suffer from mental health problems often, and Scientology in particular has gone out of their way to damage the lives of people who speak out against the group, especially former members. Maybe be a tiny bit understanding.
Chester ended his own life, kinda invalidates everything he advocated for a lot more than somebody else being born into a religion they are no longer part of taking the spot he opened.
Well at least he can sing their songs etc but this girl can't sing Linkin park songs... Sure she has a voice for signing.. but she can't sing their old songs. 🤦🏻

I've actually never met anyone else who agrees with ME..... everyone loves this band except me, but I'm a deathmetal/core fan. Absolutely no hate though, love and appreciate the music that speaks to you, go to shows and support your scene man. That's really what it's all about at the end of the day
@jimbo199249 I've seen so many bands over the years I honestly can't have a favorite anymore. Live shows and the talent behind them is something unique, everyone so go to more of them. I wish more band could play smaller venues though, there's something about that up close and personal, rawness to it. When there right there and playing their guts out and everyone is gettin down, it's awesome
I agree. I don't know why (probably money) they couldn't use a new name but it feels like throwing away his legacy to just find someone else to sing in his place. Imagine if Nirvana "came back" after Kurt Cobain's suicide 5 years later with a different singer

I didn't even know they changed drummers.
It's so sad that only the singer gets recognition usually in big bands.
Couldn't have put it better.
It’s crazy as fuck to me that people seem to think the other band members, the people Chester loved most, wouldn’t pick someone who fits well and honors his memory.

What would happen? What happened to Lisa McPherson?
There's like 20 Scientology buildings all over LA and they're all massive.

That's like saying every single Christian and Muslim believes all the crazy stuff in the Bible and Sharia Law. You're free to judge however you like but good luck getting along with anybody in real life.

@@alexgrover7693 Scientology is a cult, they have to believe those things or they’ll be ostracized and demonized by the rest of the cult. There’s a line between religion and cults, for some the line blurs a bit, but there is still a line.
Linkin park sucks ass and has never made a single good song. Everyone who is brainwashed into liking them just has member-berries of a better time in life when they hear their shit music. All because back in that time it was shoved down our throats constantly by corporate music label company's. Lyrically, they steal pages out of little 14yo girls diary's and throw some EDM ripoff synths on top of it and it turns thousands of fans into closeted gays LMFAO 🤣
He sold me. I want them to come near me so I can take my dad, he was also devastated at the death and that he never got to see Linkin Park live.

He should blame his father for being a POS
yea and his son also has restraining orders placed on himself from his own mother and Mike due to him trying to accuse Mike and the band for "being in on it" when it came to chester dying. Jamie isnt mentally stable at all so idk if you really wanna be taking anything he says at face value like this.
I just fact checked this by searching. what you say checks out.
Something to note though, is masses of LP fans are apperently sending death threats to his son over him speaking about the emily situation. Which is actually sickening.
whats wrong with doing that announcement? didnt bring it attention to suicides? weird its a whole month...

It's absolutely horrid and inconsiderate. I expected better from the remaining members of Linkin Park.
Cry more 😂
This comment should be at the top. The fact that the other band members either didn't know or didn't care about her ties to Scientology and Danny Masterson is just infuriating.
That’s a incorrect comment she did not support a sex offender she was supporting her friend until he was proven to be a sex offender.
seriously. I hope they fire her and find someone else. it just isn't right. I'm sure Mike is the one picking, too. you'd think he'd pick better.
Somewhere I still might have their pre-Linkin Park stuff.
The biggest take away here is that Chester Bennington was a victim of sexual assault. Most of their songs are about fighting the demons insdie of from the aftermath of an abuse. So it is an insult fir Chester that he's getting replaced by a person that defended a rapist.
great point and now that’s just heartbreaking
And she publicly said she knows that was a mistake and has nothing to do with him. She was asked to be there to defend a friend
She didn’t tho
(Linkin Park members would know that this is what they were doing,)
It's even one of the members had something slightly negative to say about Scientology.

His son is unhinged. Has cease and desists and restraining orders against him from various people close to the band.
I can not wait for that term "Fun Fact" to die out

@@HIGHmaggotBLAZN how will people know what are fun facts and what are not so fun facts otherwise?

In public, surrounded by strangers I broke down and cried. I myself struggle with mental health and I always felt that Chester understood what I would go through. His words spoke to me and the fact that he left, is tragic. I think that they should have started a new band while still playing a few LP classics. Chester can never be replaced.

A new band? Why? Chester wasn't part of the band when they started but you pretenders usually don't know this, you just live on your hate.
I think Chester passing away as he did to have his stand in being in a religion that is Anti-Mental Health is just a pure slap in the face.
Lot of good therapy did for Chester huh? 😂
Chester ended his own life, kinda invalidates everything he advocated for a lot more than somebody else being born into a religion they are no longer part of taking the spot he opened.
