Chris Stuckmann reviews Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, starring Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, Christopher Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Frank Oz, Ian McDiarmid. Directed by George Lucas.
I don't like my critics. They're coarse, rough, irritating and they get everywhere!
Bold Lucas, in terms of jerking people around a bit
George Lucas you're right fake George Lucas
Hey why did you make the movie like this
Was this real George did you actually do this
I don't like my critics"
Try Redlettermedia , i guess they are on your death list.. lol
Ewan McGregor is by far the best part of the prequels.
What about Ian Mcdirmind?
Yeah both Ewan and Ian were the saving grace of the prequels
yeah, the two characters who had precedent for how their characters were supposed to act from when the movies were good.
Jake The Snake I like the Emperor the most! :)
Jake The Snake braah
The George Lucas impression was the best thing ever.😂
"someone should replace that doll with CGI" I died at that part
KLightningBolt sounds like fucking dunkey XD

The sound effect for the seismic charges is just so damn satisfying.

Anakin should've been a more silent, stoic hero. It seems Hayden could do more acting with his eyes, expressions and physicality rather than actual lines.
Agreed, which makes me believe it's more George Lucas's dialogue and direction that Hayden's acting ability. To be fair Hayden has some convincing moments as Anakin throughout Episode 2&3, such as when he loses his mother, when he finds out Padme is pregnant, and the silent reflective scene between him and Padme towards the end of ROTS. Unfortunately these moments get lost in the never ending cringe worthy dialogue about sand, love, and how the Jedi Council just doesn't understand.
I agree. The less that Hayden Christen speaks the better.
JigglyChocolateman I keep saying that Kylo Ren is what Anakin should have been
He does get a little too much shit for this movie. Still bad though
Worst line in the history of Star Wars in Episode 2 when Anakin says:"My heart is beating; hoping that this kiss does not become a scar!"
I blame the script for Anakin's character. Poor Hayden was just in the wrong place wrong time.
ARC-77 Fordo Hayden was never a strong actor. He’s pathetic in Jumper too.
ARC-77 Fordo I do agree that the script did him no favors
ARC-77 Fordo I agree it’s sad cause I think if he was given good material he could have maybe been better
Agreed. I don't think we should go by his child acting to judge his general abilities
Doesn't help that Lucas gave none of the actors any direction whatsoever and shot nearly everything in empty greenscreen rooms.
"Jar Jar is the cause of the Downfall of the Jedi."
Of course he is.
He's a Sith Lord.

@Mia Smith uh, don’t know if you’re joking but no. It came out in 2002....
But if you’re joking, well haha, thats not that funny
@Mia Smith yes, yes it was.
Mia Smith damn, I’m so glad I’m not OLD hahahha
Same bro, same
I think Hayden's real talent is acting with his face. When he needs to not say anything and just visualize what emotion he's feeling, he does really well. Not so much when he has to complain about sand.
I'd also like to mention, if no-one else has before, that Jedi are forbidden to love because it could create attachments that the dark side could prey on, like what happens in Revenge of the Sith with Padme, where the Sith could exploit a Jedi's natural fear for their loved ones by promising them that the dark side could protect them forever. Plus, the Jedi replenish their ranks by seeking out newborns gifted with the Force and "adopting" (aka legally kidnapping) them into the Academy. Not that it's explained very well in the movies anyway.
TheGrayMysterious
Nice comprehension man
no one could have pulled that line off though.
Well it does get everywhere.
You make an original and convincing point. This reviewer has said nothing I haven't heard before.
I like Count Dooku, but I know a way that they could have improved his character. They should have had him in The Phantom Menace as a Jedi, that way the audience would have known him and be impacted by the fact that he turned to the dark side. They could have had him on the Jedi Council and maybe have a scene with him, Qui Gon, and Obi-Wan, and have him present at Qui Gon's funeral, feeling anger and sadness over the fact that his former padawan died, foreshadowing his turn. They also could have had him at the beginning of Attack of the Clones during the scene where the Jedi Council are talking with Palpatine, mostly to make sense of him getting rid of Kamino in the database. It could have been a good twist and I think people would have even been shocked by it. I still like what we got of Dooku, but just including him in The Phantom Menace could have improved his character.
anyone else disappointed Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing couldn't be in the film together having an argument or conflict? Yes, I know Cushing died about 2-3 years before episode I. It would be a weird COOL reference to the Hammer Dracula films.
That sounds good. Either that or keep Darth Maul alive at the end of Phantom Menace and have him return in later episodes, just write it out a bit differently and he could die in Dooku's place at the start of Revenge of the Sith. Dooku, Qui Gon, and Maul were all under-utilised.
TheGCritic
Dooku was brought in as Jar Jar's replacement after the backlash. Not only has Ahmed Best hinted strongly that Darth Jar Jar was the original plan, but it also fits in with Lucas's analogy of the Star Wars franchise being a poem. Lucas used Ring Composition - story is cyclical. If the camera passes from left to right in A New Hope, then the camera passes from right to left in A Phantom Menace. Prequel Trilogy mirrors the Original Trilogy. Yoda is a crazy buffoon who is later revealed to be a wise Jedi. Jar Jar is Yoda's mirrored counterpart - a crazy buffoon who would've later been revealed to be a wise Sith.
If people were quiet about Jar Jar, Dooku wouldn't exist, and the Prequel Trilogy would have had a much better background villain.
Dooku was a character created on the fly for Christopher Lee. I'm not sure what Lee originally signed on to do, but originally the new Sith apprentice was supposed to be a female sith character that eventually became Asaj Ventress in the TV animated series. Ventress was scrapped to favor the big name. But It would have been great if someone like Angelina Jolie had been cast as Ventress.
Have you seen Belated Media's re-writes of the Prequels, specifically Attack of the Clones? Combine your version of Dooku in Ep. I and Belated Media's version of Dooku in Ep. II, you have a pretty interesting character.
3 is still the best prequel.
That's like saying chlamydia is the best std, it's still an std...
Ehhhhhh!
Aaron Kaminski 3 is better than 6 imo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's like comparing which shit smells the best.
3 is the best prequel film by a country mile lol. I hate when people throw it in the fire with the other films just because its ok to hate the prequel trilogy. Just watching the 1st five minutes you can see a considerable gap in quality compared to 1&2. Darker, emotional, amazing action, better acting (besides Hayden lol) and a fitting finale to the series. It doesn't beat the origonal 3 but its close in quality.

@bono8558 That’s not funny. That’s. Just. Stupid. 🤦♂️
That’s insane I had no idea the goosebumps kid was anakin. Woah

Actually if you look closely, you'll see the shadow of Jango's head flying in the opposite direction of his helmet.
Holy shit, you're right! I just UA-cam'd it.
Jack Kramb Yeah me too. Why does his head fly like it's been shot out of a cannon though?
Blind Box Alley Because it's a PG movie and they didn't want to show too much gore. I was actually quite shocked how detailed Dooku's decapitation was in Revenge of the Sith (you can see his hands and head lying next to his corpse)
Kevora92 I wanted to say the same thing, chris is now just nitpicking!
Kevora92 Look closelyer
I haven't read all of the comment, so someone may have already mentioned this. When Jango gets killed, you can see the shadow of his head leaving the helmet. So no, his head was not still in the helmet.
that was the shadow of his helmet so his head is still there
+Gavin Hebert No, that's definitely his head flying out of the helmet.
Yea you're right. You can see his head in the shadow falling in a different direction right before you see his helmet fall to the ground

To be fair, Hayden christianson perfectly encapsulated an angsty teen who’s been taught to suppress emotion.
@Yash Raj Reddy yup. I got Anakin in his rage killing all the men, maybey even a few of the women. But the punk went and killed all the Tusken kids. Only a nutjob takes revenge that far.
Thank you for understanding this. Lmao
Yeah i think angsty teen goes over chris's head hes incel and soft, so hes never experienced it.

Honestly, I thought this one was WORSE than Episode 1. At least in Episode 1 we had Darth Maul...what did this movie have??
ShinbrigTV And Qui Gon as well. Chris may not agree but I adore Qui gons charcter and Liam Neeson absolutely nails it. Imagine for just a little moment what Episode I would look like without Qui Gon Jin... Yeah boring as fuck.. And yes Darth Maul is cool even though he only says: "at last we will have revenge" and "UUUmmph" for the entire movie.
Id say the redeeming thing about Episode II is Christopher Lee. He is just as badass as always. And Chris disagrees but I LOVE the Yoda part of the lightsaber battle. Its truly awesome just to see him fly and doing all sorts of shit making the viewer think that he truly is the best Jedi. But it has MAJOR flaws... The romance is even worst than Twilight and I am not even kidding... It just seems so facked out due to Christensens ATROCIOUS acting. And even Mac Gregor is not in top form in this movie. Same for Samuel Jackson who is an outstanding actor in my eyes (Steven in Django is the best thing he ever was) but just sucks ass in this movie. I like Episode II for childhood nostalgia and I will always hold it close to my heart but overall it sucks big BIG time!
Jango Fett...... but he really doesn't do anything
ShinbrigTV Episode 1 was lackluster (or disappointing for those who, unlike me, watched the movies in sequential order, not numerical order). Episode 2 was just awful.
necroplastful Qui-Gon Jinn is my favorite Old Jedi Order member.
ShinbrigTV I hate episode 2 more for the simple fact that they should have known better after episode 1
Actually, you see the shadow of Jango's head coming out of the helmet. I must admit though it's one of those 'blink and you'll miss it' moments
Anakin/Vader is conceptually one of my favorite characters ever written. The emotional depth just within the major beats of his storyline is genius, he is a character so at odds with himself that he lives within a prison of his own making. This is fleshed out incredibly in expanded universe content as well, through his genocide of the Jedi and all the various crazy fucking things Palpatine puts him through. He is just such a fucking amazing character, and there's something so inherently human about his struggle against himself, his struggle against fear. He's a character that makes us ask ourselves what we truly believe is right and wrong, and that's a rare sort of character you don't come across often.
That being said, the Anakin half of the Anakin/Vader story is hands down the worst part of this characters story. I don't even blame Hayden, because in revenge of the Sith when he got some actually halfway decent scenes, he actually delivered imo. It's the writing that truly makes so many parts of Anakin's story crumble, it's the way George Lucas went about presenting this character. From the half baked love story, to his tantrums that were just the most blatant and obvious ways to show his internal conflict, it all just kinda sucks. The only saving grace for Anakin as a character is revenge of the Sith, which is actually my favorite star wars movie, with empire strikes back at close second. Lucas actually created a compelling Anakin in revenge of the Sith, not consistently, but he at least feels like a semi realized character in episode 3. Would this movie have been waaayyy better if Lucas had taken the time to craft a more well thought out journey for Anakin to reach the breaking point that he reaches? Yes, 100% yes, but at least he didn't shy away from trying to create a real tragedy in episode 3, something horrific enough to turn a person into a monster. Other than that, Anakin is mostly wasted potential, and Hayden flounders his way through it at least somewhat commendably at times. Just wish we could get something as badass as we had hoped
Watch The Clone Wars

Too long, didn’t read.
Why does it suck that Anakin is emotional? I understand the love story seems rushed and underdeveloped but it is supposed to be a relationship destined to fail and should never have started. So if it seems worse than the greatest love story ever told, which doesn't exist, then it did its job.
Yes!!!! Exactlyyyy

Kimberly Haines is Anakin consistently jumping out of cars?
Jfighter 11 Always sounded like it to me. It always makes me laugh because of the mental picture and Ewan’s delivery.
Kimberly Haines perhaps ,but Obi Wan is still a hypocrite here plus what he did is even worse.
I don't see what's the problem with Count Dooku.
I actually like the character and I think his rule was cool and interesting, after all he was an Jedi
Yes he was and a brilliant British actor RIP Sir Christopher Lee
CommanderShockwave he ah I like him too the only problem I had and can see was I didn’t understand why he pretended not to like sidious didn’t get the point of that and he wasn’t very intimidating but that’s it for me still like his character and of course RIP Christopher Lee
An jedi it's a jedi not an jedi
Yea he's not supposed to be scary
I think if he had been introduced in a more dramatic way then he would have left more of an impression
Well honestly I think the "Jedi can't love thing" is alright, think about it; they are guardians, peacekeepers, soldiers even. If they have a lover, or children; the sith can use that against them easily, which in turn can turn the jedi into sith.
Yeah but I'm being extreme here when I say this, it just seems anything having to do with emotions can turn a Jedi towards the dark side. It's so bad that it was a running joke for a while.
+degree7 it makes sense since the force is in many ways like a religion. Even in the original trilogy it was presented as a mystical thing of legends which would be what a religion that isn't practiced turns into.
+Bandit In the EU, it's explained that having those feelings is believed to make one susceptible to turning to the dark side since it leads to passion and fear of loss of that person which is what happened to Anakin. Honestly, I don't mind that explanation either, just not in the canonical movies because it's never explained. Just, "jedi's cant love because Lucas says so". It's stupid.
+Chess RedEagle In the KOTOR games and even comics I remember Jedis having love feelings between them and nothing bad happened.
+Bandit Well I'd it Bullshit Jedi should have Love and need to have a girl to have love with and start a family and another nitpick Jedis should get laid and use the force on the girl to get her pregnant

George Lucas: "So how do you feel about our new trilogy of Star Wars movies?"
Hayden: "I hate them!"
The funny thing about Obi-Wan saying "I hate it, when he does that" is the fact that moments earlier he threw himself through a window from a 6 miles tall building.
true. And then he had no plan when he was hanging on for dear life.
Physical attributes and confidence is a lot different to operating manchinery, obi wan can manipulate the force, however i dont think he can use the force to stop a ship from falling at freefall speed with him inside.
Honestly this might one of the most stupid complaints ive ever heard, and ive heard some really dumb ones most are actually in this video, chris is blatently lieing in parts and he's just not very clever to not understand certain things.

***** Wait, Gunguns? I thought they were called Gungas.
I recently rewatched this and discovered something interesting--if you fast-forward through all the scenes of Ani and Padme's "romance," it's not that bad. There are still flaws, but Obi Wan's journey to find the clone army is pretty cool.
Alternative “First Kiss” dialogue:
Anikan: *Chuckles* Gods know, if there’s one thing I know about it’s sand...”
Padame: *chuckles* “Yeah, I guess you would... How’s your mother? Have you... Seen her? Or spoken to her, since you began your training?”
Anakin: *hangs his head and sighs* ... No... I haven’t. Not a word. The council says that it would distract me from my real goal. Sometimes I wonder what that is...”
*They stand in silence for a minute, before Anakin chuckles again and speaks with a smile*
Anakin: “You know, when I left my mother, she couldn’t stop talking. Seemed like she went on for DAYS.”
Padame: *smiles* I bet she had a lot to tell you.
Anakin: *rolls his eyes* Oh yes. Everything from “I love you so much” to *wags his finger* “now make sure to drink plenty every day, even if you don’t feel thirsty!”
*They both laugh for a few seconds*
Anakin: *Slowly stops laughing* But you know what the last thing she said to me was? In our house anyway?”
Padame: *Still with a grin of mirth on her face* What? “You had better come back with grand babies Anakin!”
Anakin: *Bursts our laughing for a second* Uh, close actually. She said “you find a good woman Anakin. Settle down, build a family like I never did. Find the best woman you can and marry her right away!” *They both chuckle again, but in a way that is less genuine and clearer meant to deflect tension* ... Gods, can you imagine saying that to a ten year old? ... But you know what? I did just that.”
Padame: *Her breath catches in her throat* Oh? *She asks, trying and failing to sound casual as Anakin moves closer*
Anakin: *Gazing into her eyes* I found the bravest, strongest, most beautiful woman in the galaxy. I crossed the stars with her, fought beside her to retake her throne. And now I stand with her in paradise, yet I can’t see anything... beyond her eyes.”
Padame: *her breath quickens as she attempts to deflect even as she leans closer* Won’t your mother be proud?” *she asks with a faint smile as she draws ever closer* But... Aren’t Jedi forbidden to love?”
Anakin: *Smiles roguishly as he caresses her cheek and leans in, bare inches from her lips* “Does it look like I care?”
They smile and close the distance, kissing hesitantly at first, but then embracing both each other and their passions as the music swells and the camera pans away from them and over the falls and setting sun of Naboo.

They made the cartoon/animated series for that.
+jeffzalonka A movie must be able to establish a lot more than simply having to rely on a EU related series.
It would have made his turn to the dark side feel more tragic as well.
Phantom Menace may have been a snooze-fest, but there were redeeming elements in there and the filmmakers still tried as hard as they could. Sure the wait makes it seem 1000x worse, but in actuality it was harmless as a movie on its own. Attack of the Clones actually does go as far as to insult the intelligence of the viewer and seemingly even goes out of its way to contradict the entire mythology of the original movies. It sticks a bunch of recognizable brand/franchise images on-screen to get an audience to come and sit through a feature-length exhibit of some (really dated by now) effects that Lucas thought was the best thing since sliced bread. I've only ever considered it better than Episode I for it's superficial value. Episode II is still the only prequel that I reckon legitimately deserves the hate.
I actually do enjoy the prequels if I just turn my brain off and watch them as fun sci fi action movies but I can understand why people don't like them
I still don't get how the Jedi always busting out their lightsabers is an insult to the original trilogy. I mean yeah the lightsaber is an old-fashioned majestic weapon, but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the Jedi were extinct by the time of EPISODE IV. The reason the Jedi would not pull them out in the originals was because they probably didn't want to to catch the attention of the stormtroopers. Also, Luke and Obi-Wan didn't just use their lightsabers for just duels with Darth Vader. Obi-Wan used it to cut off the arm of the guy who threatened Luke in the cantina, Luke busted it out when assaulting Jabba the Hutt's Sail Barge, and Luke did it again when fighting against the speeder bikes on Endor. Doesn't that contradict the idea of only using it against the main villain? The reason I think that the Jedi would bust out their lightsabers more often in the prequels was because they were not fugitives from the Empire, and they were prominent in this era. That meant that they were more willing to use lightsabers when ever having to deal with threats of various kinds. If they were restricted to using them when only fighting the Sith, wouldn't they easily be killed?
I know you have problems with this film, but I think that it doesn't deserve the hate it gets (I'm honestly sick of the hate all of the prequels get). EPISODE II doesn't feel insulting to the mythos in my opinion, as I can see why the Jedi would use their lightsabers more frequently in an era where they were like knights or samurai from ancient times. I also found the backstory of the clones to be intriguing (they viewed themselves as brothers in the CLONE WARS TV series, which I found to be awesome), and Jango Fett was just BADA** in my opinion (to me Boba Fett is kinda overrated, and his death in ROTJ was very rushed; at least Jango killed a couple Jedi before being decapitated).
If you don't care for it, that's fine... Just respect that some of us do...
Sams ChanneI At the very moment he complained about the fact that the Jedi aren't allowed to be in love and he said: «how the Jedi are supposed to f***ing procreate?!? That is so dumb!!!» (7:40) I stopped watching his video.
I gave him two hints in which it was very obvious that the Jedi recruit other people to become Jedi without procreating: The Phantom Menace and A New Hope. People never thought about that? =P
SW Saga Fan New Hope: Luke wasn't recruited as such - Kenobi was just waiting for him to grow up because he was the son of Anakin, and exists only because Anakin broke the rules and procreated.
Phantom Menace: We are told Anakin was the product of a miracle virgin birth.
So the criticism is valid and not stupid at all. Apart from Anakin (miracle birth possibly done by Palpatine magic) where do Jedi come from? They don't procreate according to the prequels, how do midichlorian genes get passed on?
The prequels raise that question because of the needless invention by Lucas of Jedi being isolated monks with no love life. He didn't have to write Jedi like that, but he did. But he also included, pointlessly, the business about midichlorians. Both these things combined is dumb because now, for no good reason, the audience are scratching their heads wondering about something that is only bring discussed because Lucas had those two dumb ideas and combined them. So we can either decide it's stupid, or we can ignore it and pretend it wasn't said or you can make excuses for Lucas and wave it away by making up stuff that wasn't in the films.
All Lucas had to do was not midichlorians and not make Jedi loveless monks, taken from their families at a really young age and brainwashed to love nothing but their light sabres.
The prequels are weird. They make a complete mess of the Jedi.
Nebogipfel While I do respect everyone's opinion and I am aware that if you like a movie or not is personal preference, I feel that a lot of people are just wasting their time, here on the internet, by scratching the bottom of the barrel. In contrast to a lot of people, I do not take those things on the internet seriously, but unfortunately a lot of people do nowadays because the internet has become one of the main link to the outside world and to news and they tend to take its content as the absolute truth, while it's not the case. The internet can be full of interesting things, but it can also be full of turd. And I have yet to see a reasoned judgment on the internet for any kind of subject (society, economy, art, etc...), not just Star Wars...
"Replace that dummy with CGI"
XD I love it.
That’s not funny.
Hahaha he sent Anakin on the most romantic mission ever lol Padmé changes her clothes in every scene, getting increasingly more revealing as the film goes on until she looks basically like an exotic dancer. 😂
You said, "She's BEGGING for it from Anakin and is like "No, I can't do it, because I'm a Senator..." lol that's hilarious. 🤣
i actually think hayden could be a good actor but nobody could have made that terrible dialogue passable.
I tend to agree about the other actors and the bad script. Look at all the good actors in those films and how bad they all were. Hayden as an actor I'm just not sure about. He's really not that good.
jeffzalonka well it seems to me like he could be good but its hard to tell with the cartoon dialogue and he had freakin christopher lee a legend and gave him like 5 lines wtf george.
+chaz Davis I agree, his more rage induced lines are actually well delivered in my opinion. I love hearing him say ''I hate you'' to Obi-Wan. That scene gives me... goosebumps... lol
+Sauron Merciful He was way younger there and the show is kind of over the top too. I don't think that's proof of anything.

Hayden Christensen is not to blame at all for StarWars. He's a great actor, it's George's writing. He's to blame. A great director, he just needed a little direction for himself too.
He made a good movie in 2003 were he was good
+Michael Puig When he's directed by George Lucas
No Hayden Christensen takes half the blame for his terrible acting. The other half is George's terrible writing
+Creepy Closet nah. Ewan and Liam were way more experienced and seasoned actors. To have Hayden be put to the forefront in front of a green screen which is basically nothing and then be lead by George Lucas. Thats not the actors fault, that is the directors fault. Entirely. And the writers OMG.
Josiah Townsend No he's a terrible actor. He's never been in anything good and would probably be a no name if star wars didn't make him infamous. Like his acting is just so bad and cringe worthy, it's like he never hit puberty or something and George ruined another casting choice. Even if there was good writing he would still suck. Actors are supposed to work with what they're given and Hayden Christensen is one of those cases where they can't. Look at ewan McGregor and how he had bad lines too but still was able to deliver

Oh yes it's still very forgettable

Over There One of the easily most forgettable movies even being a Star Wars movie.
Lukáš Váňa WHAT??? Episode 2 is God Awful!!!! BLAH!!!!
This is a very forgettable movie. Before I watched this review, I didn't remember a single thing about this movie other than Jango Fett. I agree, the only reason you remember the name "Attack of the Clones" is because it has the words "Star Wars" attached to it
17:45 I'm sure someone has already corrected you on this one, but if you watch the scene where Jango's head flies away in slow motion you can actually see a head plop out of the helmet. So there's one plot hole of 1,000 actually fixed.
Thank you. But most people are idiots.
I said the same thing. It's always stuck out to me watching the shadow fly out of the helmet since I was a kid. So this has always been an important part in my mind considering its the most pg13 thing we see to this point
Star Wars aside, I feel really bad for Jake Lloyd. I honestly think The Phantom Menace ruined his life. I really hope he's doing well these days.
Arbiter91 He’s not. He’s in a asylum for schizophrenia.
Robert Mayberry Poor guy. This is the real tragedy of the prequels, not that we watched some shitty movies one time.
George Lucas did this just by thinking he was fit for the role.
Fun fact, he went to my highschool. One of our history teachers room is all decked out in StarWars stuff
Robert Mayberry and that's not correct. He was diagnosed with it. But he was in jail for speeding over 100mph in a chase. A simple google search will inform you. Don't make shit up.

I just rewatched Attack of the Clones today. A lot of it doesn't work, but for whatever reason, it is still a great watch. The Blade Runner-esque neon-infused chase scene in the seedy underbelly of Coruscant really works. The romance between Anakin and Padme does not work, but Obi Wan's intergalactic detective mission does. I do like the separatist subplot of the Clone Wars, but it remains totally underdeveloped in the film. The final act is clunky, and a bit of a let down. The lightsaber duel at the end lacks emotion. Nevertheless, the film still has a number of really intriguing ideas that hold it together. I much prefer it to the Disney trilogy, which I have pretty much forgotten at this point.
Why doesn't it work?

My grades for the 7 movies are:
TPM: C- (Darth Maul is good enough to keep it out out of D-F range.
AOTC: D
ROTS: B (much better than the last two but the dialogue from anyone, except for Obi Wan, is still wooden and robotic.
ANH: A
ESB: A+++++++++++
ROTJ: A- (Ewoks, although they are adorable, they were made to sell toys. Also, there are quite a few moments where the CGI looked incredibly dated and obviously CGI like the scene where their flying on the skiffs before and after the Sarlacc Pit scene)
TFA: A (I don't care what people say about how this is a copy of A New Hope. The people that say that need to watch Chris'a analysis of TFA and the whole Star Wars series. This movie singlehandedly redeemed the sins of the prequels in my opinion.)
Nick94956 Good list!

Naw, TPM was the best, you rocked in that.
Bruh, watching this just made me realize how this movie could’ve been good. Dooku should’ve planned Shmis death then revealed it to anakin and they would then have an actual good dual where anakin would get defeated despite his anger
no see, that's overly simplistic, which everyone here clearly is...including Chris Stuck-tard 😂😂😂
I honestly like Episode II. it's not better than the other movies, but I actually still like it.
I think that's great! The prequels never worked for me but I don't hate them. Additionally, I absolutely respect everyone's who likes them.
I like it better than phantom menace
HMM I like every Star Wars movie but some are better than others
you´re a very patient person, I admire you
HMM me 2
il be the first person to stand up for hayden Christensen. i do personally believe it was all lucas's fault for what came of anakin and haydens performance, dialogue, etc. you can see in revenge of the sith that hayden CAN act and be quite likeable and believeable in SOME scenes that allow it. i personally believe that george lucas and his direction were the entire problem for hayden. lucas just doesnt know how to get a good performance out of an actor unless said actor is already really good at acting. i despise the prequels yes, revenge of the sith tho is one if my guilty pleasure favorite films tho. not very high on my list but in comparison to the first two prequels, rots is actually a really good enjoyable movie, tho with some glaring unfortunate unforgivable problems, its an entertaining movie and palpatines manipulation of anakin is one of if not the best prequel arc. yall can say what you want but i like hayden Christensen as a person, and alot better in rots, but in attack of the clones he was pretty bad. again tho i completely blame lucas for that bit. ive seen hayden act in other movies and be quite compelling, so personally i try not to disrespect and or blame hayden for the prequels. he did his best and you do see huge progress by rots. my opinion tho.
To add to what you said, look at the rest of the cast. Most of the cast consists of amazing actors, but only 1 or2 of them don't suck in the prequels. Even Samuel L. Jackson, one of my favorite actors, is garbage in the prequels. Debatably, the only actors in the prequels that don't suck are Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid. Kenny Baker doesn't count, since you never see him outside of the R2-D2 shell.
Thanks
I'll have to disagree with you here. Hayden is a very mediocre actor. He's got a strong work ethic but his line delivery is amateur at best.
the actors performed as lucas asked so they could display the nature of the jedi and the sithe, the jedi display disdain for emotion, the sithe revel in it, that is thier core difference, order vs chaos, awareness vs manipulation, hope vs demand
He was let down by the writing and directing, and didnt succeed in making the character his own. He was Very good in Shattered glass.
I really wanted a scene of Anakin just crying and screaming and hating himself as he slaughtered every last tusken raider. Imagine witnessing that scene with John Williams score in the background. With heavy, menacing, truly intense music masked over Anakin bawling his eyes out killing all the tusken children. You faintly hear Darth Vader's breathing in the background, going in and out as Anakin kills more raiders. Could have been fucking incredible.. Oh well.
Would have been nice but that damn pg rating they were wanting put a stop to that.
+il100374 Screenplay by George Lucas.
That would have been terrible. That would be so out of nowhere, and would make Anakin's character awkward for the next scenes. It could possibly work for ep.3, not for 2 though
TheSoloTrooper Um... basically what I said already happened, I was just suggesting more footage. The only difference between what I said and what happened in the movie is he cried after killing the Raiders instead of during...
TheSoloTrooper They showed him crying. And they showed him killing a couple Raiders. He was already on his way to the dark side in episode 2. So why is what I said not possible?
I was a prequel defender for the longest time. I rewatched them recently and... yeah i certainly understand the criticism now lol. Revenge of the sith is still absolutely better than the other two
then you have failed George Lucas to be in the majority

To be honest, I don't think this movie is all that bad. Is it good? No, but neither is it atrocious. Call me tasteless, I don't care. Anyway, I think the chase scene where Obi-Wan and Anakin pursue Zam Wessel was really cool. I also agree with many of the commenters that the Yoda-Dooku fight was actually good. Like someone said, in order for Yoda to be as powerful as he is/was, he'd have to have mastery of the physical and mental aspects of being a Jedi. Also, Obi-Wan's sass was wonderful in this movie.
I honestly like Episode II.
Not as much as the other movies, but I still like it.
It's a mostly okay movie for me and that's mostly because it has a better story than The Phantom Menace and there's enough entertaining moments for me to make it enjoyable while still average. I guess Chris Stuckmann didn't realize that when Yoda said ''Size matters not'' he REALLY meant it. His fight with Dooku reflects that.

The pursuit of Jango by Obi Wan makes up for all of the film’s shortcomings.
Jango’s head does fall out of the helmet after Mace cuts it off. Look carefully, you’ll see a shadow of it
Omg you're entitled to your opinion but no it does not lol.
That delivery by Hayden in that scene was good "I slaughtered them like animals"

I agree, but then he became a silent badass dressed in all black that literally choke the life out of people. so much more subtle.

This review and the comments by all the people are so totally not surprising: totally biased towards the old ones, which are perfect in every way and the new ones, bad in every way.
Just because the new ones are not exactly the same as the old ones and the expectations grew up with you and became unsatisfiable by any movie, no matter how good. Now the next one, the force awakes will be painful, bet on it, it will be much worse then the last three prequels. This time J J Abrams will go for the kill, using the same actors that you worship. It will be Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull all over again, plus do you know how Abrams murdered and massacred Star Trek? His movies are widely considered the worst Star Trek movies of all time and remember, there were 10! before that.
J J violated and broke every rule and everything that was true in the Star Trek universe, so expect him to do the same for Star Wars. I'm already shivering!

Just because you can watch this as a Star Wars movie doesn't mean it deserves a C, which is like 6/10. I'd give this film a 3/10.
Senior Steffan I know. I was sort of blown away when he announced his rating for this. I was like a "C?" This movie I can't even watch a second time all the way through. I've tried multiple times and can never get even half-way before I'm doing other things and not even watching it.
Chris is kind with his ratings. The movie is still watchable and is really just a horrible Star Wars film, if it wasn't a Star Wars film, it would of been... alright? Would of probably gone with a D rating myself, maybe even a D+. It was watchable and the story is put together will enough that you understand what is going on... that is about it.
Senior Steffan C is considered to be an average grade. So a C- would be slightly below average, which means something like maybe a 4/10 (if we're going by how his scale seems to work). An F would be like a 0 or a 1.
Senior Steffan C would be a 5, so C- is like a 4.5 i guess.

very true but it certainly could have been written so much better, cause in the actual film the story is so forced and the only way it could be more forced is if george lucas literally jumped into the audience and beat everyone over the head and shouting 'they are in love, they are in love'
ASobsessive I agree film was poor but I can still watch it unlike that shitie phantom menace but you're right could have been better
But he turned to the dark side for her, he frigging betrayed the order for her and he used her to justify every bad thing he was doing. I don't think many of us would like Vader/Anakin if he just screwed someone and then always wanted to be evil, we had to buy into the fact that he turned evil for a reason, and mixing that with the want of power and being told he will bring balance to the force along with being told he can't love or have feelings, much like a machine is in a poetic way what drives him to in the end become a machine.
I do agree they could of gone with a more slow burn love story, but I think it's important to note that they are both sort of meant to be teenagers who are both told they can't break the rules and both kind of on the Chasity side. I think if they developed there relationship to be a bit more about sexual tension transcending into love, it could of became much more impactful.
Drew Russell I'm not saying they shouldn't have told Anakin/Padmes story, just that it wasn't necessary for luke/leia to exist.
There are hundreds of different ways they could've written Anakin. Tragic hero who fell to the dark side, sociopath who left the light, or even just a person who doesn't understand their own power. With varying degrees of moral complexity, good, and evil.
