J None used to be member of the group before he went into the Navy..he comes and sings with them sometimes..he’s next to Geoff..

I think someone else might have mentioned this... J None was a full-time member of VoicePlay from March 2018 until June 2021. In '21 he joined the Navy (as a Navy vet I cheer him for that!!) Since this piece was done after J left, he is billed as, "Featuring J None." Most of us hold out hope that he will re-join as a full-time member when he leaves the Navy. For now, he joins as a featured vocalist when "the stars align."
This piece blew away so many of us. It still amazes us.
I knew you would appreciate this one! It’s one of my favorite covers from them! Who would ever imagine an a cappella group covering such an iconic metal song like this one? They also covered Seven Nation Army! It’s pretty much same level as this one.

In the same vein: "In the Air Tonight" (Phil Collins), "Dream on" (Aerosmith), "Carry on Wayward son" (Kansas) and of course, all their game related songs are epic.

"It pulled me in" is an excellent way to describe the experience of watching this! Excellent reaction to the violin #VioLayne -- he doesn't play very often but I love it. I think you might really dig their cover of Seven Nation Army (it's one of my favorites). Costumes, but a very post-apoc vibe.
Well that was great! Despite being into metal at that time I was never much of a Metallica fan but I always liked that one. They more than did it justice.

There's more than a few that you would love as well - In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (RadioHead), a post-apocalyptic trilogy - Warriors (Imagine Dragons) - Dream On (Aerosmith) - Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Valhalla Calling (Miracle of Sound), Drunken Sailor, I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame).
This is one of my favorite voice play songs! They just took a metal song and sang it down! Extremely good arrangement and that’s at least twice that Layne pulled out the electric violin, perfect with this song as the guitar solo! Great job by the way! This is FIRE! Low bass Kenneth

They rocked this. The long intro and outro really showed their harmonic talents and Geoff's bass. Since you liked this one Red, give a listen to their cover of Imagine Dragons "Warriors". It's an older one and it included a member of the group, Earl, who left to pursue other avenues. Lane played the violin in that one as well. Simply fantastic cover. Great reaction Red! This was a great reaction to an awesome performance and arrangement! They just keep killing it with every new one they release, it's getting difficult to pick a favourite - apart from the next one! Loved their version of 'In The Air Tonight', 'Creep' (arranged by Eli) was intense!

When Geoff isn't actually singing lyrics in this song, he's out-bassing a bass guitar! And #VioLayne makes his 2nd appearance - first was in Warriors, a slightly older banger with a different VoicePlay lineup. Layne has played violin since he was a kid, so he knows his way around the instrument!

Thank you so much for finally getting to this one. Yeah, they nailed this cover and I don't know if Metallica has heard this or not, but I'm pretty sure they would be proud of them and their cover. This is not, by any stretch of the imagination , an easy song to do a cover of. But, these guys took on the challenge and in my opinion absolutely nailed it. I hope you continue to stay on the Voice Play, Home Free and Pentatonix acapella train. Speaking of, would love to see you react to Pentatonix's cover of Queens "Bohemian Rhapsody". I love this song and to find out that PTX was gonna a drop a cover of this song I was both excited and skeptical. But, after listening to their cover they nailed every aspect of this song from beginning to end. It was unbelievable and i just know you are gonna love it. Found myself smiling as soon as I got the notification you had reacted to this one Red, having a feeling I knew what was coming. This is hands down one of my favourite VoicePlay covers. Loved your response but the reaction to Geoff and his 'Geoff-quakes' and also Layne with the cheeky violin instrumental your jaw hitting the floor definitely. Personally for me, Eli's belt had me punching the air like he did in the video.

Their version of Dream On is breathtaking. Hoist The Colours is a masterpiece. Once Upon ADream is an older video but really unique. You really can't go wrong 😊

No..he is not… he was a member of Voiceplay but now he is at Navy….but he continues working with them while he is free and back to Orlando❤❤❤❤❤… hope he will be back for good.
J None is a former full group member who left to sing for the Navy. (I had no idea the Navy had a choir). He frequently collabs with Voiceplay still when he is on leave. Check out The Little Mermaid Medley to see him when he was a full member

@@redheadedneighbor The Mermaid Medley is one of my 147 favorites from Voiceplay. Have we mentioned that Geoff has a solo channel? When Covid shut the world down and Voiceplay could no longer travel, he started it. You recently reacted to Home Free's version of Man of Constant Sorrow. Geoff did it last year, I thin you will love it. He does a great Public Service Announcement at the end.
As for great covers, you might want to check out their version of Phil Collins In The Air Tonight, or their version of the Beach Boys In My Room. They did do another Metallica song, Whiskey in The Jar, but that song has been around since the 1600s I believe

I really enjoyed your reaction- thanks! If you like Metallica you would probably enjoy Voice Play's cover of "Whiskey In The Jar". I have not seen or heard any comments about Metallica seeing this cover but I know legendary band, 'Chicago', saw this and liked it so much that they invited Voice Play to sing with them in two shows in New Jersey back in November. If you are in the mood for Rock songs, Voice Play does great covers of "In The Air Tonight", "Seven Nation Army", "Dream On", and "Carry On My Wayward Son". Beatboxer here, Layne, can really rock out on the violin while beatboxing so it has earned him the nickname "Violayne" (you would enjoy Voice Play's cover of "Warriors" with Layne and J None playing the violins). For more Disney/theater you would love their "Little Mermaid Medley" and "Hoist The Colors".

If u didn't know Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice play was all on the sing off and that's where they pretty much got their exposure. So if u want to see their raw live performances u can go there
If you like Geoff Castellucci (the Bass), I think you would really like his solo stuff. He does all the parts and layers the video so it looks like there are 4 of him. 16 Tons, House of the Rising Sun and Man of Constant Sorrow are great songs to start that rabbit hole journey.
