Just so you know, you don't need a copyright block or filters on a VoicePlay video. They are independent of any recording company or label. They do it all themselves, including paying royalties to the original artists. The full time members are Geoff, Eli, Cesar and Layne, (as outlined below) with J.None being an ex member who returns to make some videos with them. VoicePlay always bring the emotion. Always.
I consider J.None a member on hiatus from time to time. It seems like every time he gets leave from the U.S. Navy, he goes back into the recording studio with the guys.
Like a lot of Voiceplay fans, I absolutely adore watching a reactor go from, "I am not sure what to expect," to, "That note seriously came out of a human being???" to absolutely blown away.
(That note did, indeed, come out of a human being-we think. It is always possible that Geoff Castellucci is some flavor of deity, because he ALSO arranges music, has his own channel, and knows how to cook. Seems like an unfair distribution of talent, but there it is.)
You'll get a bunch of recommendations from us, but I'd like to throw my two cents in and say you should cover "Valhalla Calling." You'll get to hear Geoff show off his low notes, Cesar (the baritone) channel his inner berserker, Eli (the tenor) exercise his rock voice, and J. None . . . well, you'll see. You'll also get to see a bunch of excited Voiceplayers in your comments!

I’m so glad you enjoyed Voiceplay! They don’t do a lot of metal, but I think you’ll enjoy pretty much anything they do because they’re fantastic. Wonderful reaction, thanks! Voiceplay does everything themselves - no manager, no label - and they love reactors. You don't need to screen it. They do comedy (We Don't Talk About Bruno is fun), they do epic (their covers of Halo and Dragonborn Comes will rattle your bones) you name it, they do it, and they do it all incredibly well. Introductions starting on the Right:
Layne Stein beatboxer/vocal percussionist and complete master mind. Aka as VioLyne, this is only the second time he's brought out his violin, the other being in Warriors (by Imagine Dragons). He arranges about half their songs. He also co-owns Patty Cake Productions with former member Tony Wakim where they shoot a good percentage of their videos. Hes also a founding member of Voiceplay.
Cesar de La Rosa their Baritone/Tenor is their newest member. He has a Sassy Anglic voice that can really tug on your heartstrings.
Eli (rhymes with jelly)Jacobson Rock God Tenor. He helps with the arrangements and has tone a few of them himself (Creep by Radio Head, and Eleanor Rigby). He's also in charge of the lighting and special effects.
J None former member and featured artist in this song. He has such a soulful voice. Currently he is singing for the Navy (singing base) and comes back whenever he can and sings with the guys. Fans love it when he comes back.
Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci low bass singer. He arranges about the other half of Voiceplay songs. He has a 5 octave range that we love listening to. He also has his own channel where he does Low Bass Covers. He is also a founding member of Voiceplay. He arranged this song. He'll also change or add lyrics when he feels the song needs them.
It's recommended to listen to Voiceplay with headphones, yes it makes a difference. You don't have to worry to much about blocking their videos, they (and Geoff) like reactors. They are also independent meaning no big name producers holding them back. They have the freedom to do what they want, how they want to do it.
There are so many songs to recommend it really depends on what genre you're into. But nothing you choose will be bad. They never create a song that they can't add to. So no karaoke/cookie cutter style.

Oh hi! Welcome to VoicePlay! They are (IMHO) the top tier contemporary a cappella group out there right now, and yes, I'm aware of Pentatonix and Home Free. To my ears, VoicePlay outdoes them with the creativity of their arrangements, the refusal to pigeonhole themselves into one genre, and the degree of artistry that they give to any project they work on. See, those guys up there don't just sing. Either Geoff Castellucci (the guy who sounds like he swallowed a foghorn) or Layne Stein (the vocal percussionist with mad violin skillz) creates the vocal arrangements that they perform, although recently Eli (rhymes with 'jelly') Jacobson- he's the bald rock god in the center here- has also been creating arrangements (his arrangements for Creep and Eleanor Rigby are both smashing) for the group. They also conceptualize, shoot and edit their own videos- basically, the only things they *don't* do are extensive makeup and the final audio mix. And sometimes some camera work. But that's about it; otherwise, everything you see and hear is 100% from the guys blowing your mind with their vocal acrobatics. No matter what your taste, you can find something in their catalog that you'll love. And honestly, these guys have a great track record for taking song and reinventing them in such a way that even if you don't like the original, you'll probably still enjoy their cover. It's a true transformative gift that this group has, and if that weren't enough, they are all absolutely lovely humans on top of being madly talented.
(oh, and it's worth mentioning that Geoff also has a solo channel, where he posts covers of his own, although not a cappella. And let me tell you- you haven't begun to hear what that man can do. You've heard some lows, but he goes lower. And much, much higher. You have to hear it to believe it.)

Voiceplay has a large and very loyal fan base. They are completely independent, no manager, no label. They do everything themselves except for the final mix. I know you like to go in blind, be sure to check out the notes afterward, everything is included.

It's always a pleasure to see someone new enjoying this masterpiece! The song is really quite moving in its way, and these guys have a knack for tapping into the emotional potential of certain songs where it's not as evident in the original (see their cover of Creep by Radiohead for another, frankly devastating example.) Liked and subscribed, hope to see you react to more of their stuff!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Voiceplay! One great thing about them is there are no copyright restrictions, you can actually show the whole video and screen. As for songs, this is a great one to start with! You have a decent subscriber count, but I bet you it goes up, if you keep doing Voiceplay (I saw one guy go from 18 subscribers to over 4000 in about two and a half weeks). My favorite by them is "Valhalla Calling." You might also like their cover or Aerosmith's "Dream On." But you can't really go wrong with any of them.
Also, the bass, Geoff Castellucci, has his own solo channel, worth checking out. And if you haven't checked out Home Free, another great A Cappella group, I recommend them too. "Man Of Counted Sorrows" was the first one I watched by them, and it's still one of my favorites. Between these two A Cappella group's Vocal Percussionists, I believe there is no musical sound that can't make, perfectly.

We fans and patrons will flock here for anything VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci has his own channel where he does low-bass covers. Hoist the Colors, Valhalla Calling, Creep, Golden Hour, and Bang are a few of VoicePlays. With Geoffs' amazing range, he sings with his clones and sings all the parts. The decision to use the violin was last minute - and whether people agree or not, is actually traditionally accepted in a capella music- mainly because it's being used more as another voice than as a crutch for tonal reference.

This is my favorite Voiceplay lineup, but they basicall almost never choose badly, the voices are always perfect for the song. Geoff, Layne, Eli and Cesar are their current permanent four members.

Never under estimate the beauty and the quality of the human voice that frankly musical instruments cannot replicate. With the exception of the violin, Voiceplay is nearly always a cappella in their performances. There are three primary a cappella vocal bands that dominate the genre, Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay. There are some others to a lesser degree. Voiceplay is known for their theatrical covers, Pentatonix is primarily pop, and Home Free is mostly country, but known to do R&B, classic rock, folk, blue grass in their covers and originals. All three groups have multiple Xmas albums. All three groups appeared on the reality show the Sing Off on NBC. Pentatonix won season 3 in 2012 and Home Free won season 4 in 2013 and happened to compete against Voiceplay for the title that season. These groups are so excellent at what they do, most listeners do not realize there are no musical instruments being played but our filled in by their voices. As an introduction to the other two groups, you should react to Pentatonix's version of Hallelujah, and Home Free's version of Man of Constant Sorrow known from the movie Brother Where Art Thou starring George Clooney. They all have a large portfolio of music that will open up and expand your music appreciation beyond your expectations. Great reaction and just subbed.
Oh! I hope you don't mind, but here are some unofficial (but important!) rules for listening to Geoff/Voiceplay! I just came up with them on my own. I hope they're not intimidating. You can enjoy their videos without doing them, of course. But after years of being a Voiceplaya, I've found they're best followed for optimal Voiceplay (and to a degree, Home Free as well) listening.
The rules:
#1) VERY important! ALWAYS watch to the very end of the video, or at least a ways into the patrons scrolling. Often times it may LOOK like the video has ended, but there's an outro. Also, watching to the end lets you see their awesome cover art.
#2) Always leave the closed captions on. Geoff's wife Kathy (who is the woman at the end of this video, such an amazing woman!) has hearing loss, so sometimes there will be little hidden gems in the CC.
#3) If you pause a video to speak, rewind it ten seconds before you start it again, to make sure you don't miss anything.
#4) Don't look away from the screen, or close your eyes for more than a second, because, again, you might miss a visual gag or clever moment.
#5) Don't go into their videos with expectations on what the song will be like, i.e., that it will be the same as the original. These guys put their own spin on things. The only thing to expect, generally, is to be blown away by their sheer talent.
#6) Unless you have a REALLY great speaker system with stereo sound, ALWAYS wear good headphones/earbuds with Voiceplay and Geoff. They do amazing little tricks you can only pick up with those hearing devices. Plus, some of Geoff's notes are so low you practically can't hear them without headphones.

They're incredible - they have the broadest genre range of the main a capella groups and everything they tackle turns to gold. They also covered "Dream on" (Aerosmith), "Carry on Wayward son" (Kansas), "In the Air tonight" (Phil Collins), "Seven Nation Army" (White Stripes) + their gaming song covers are insane, but pick any genre and they have you covered. Can't go wrong - hoping you will do more VP! 🌹🕊
Their cover of Imagine Dragon's "Enemy" was a collaboration with a kpop idol, so to my way of thinking they've been adopted as a kpop group too. And they did a BTS song, IIRC too.
While not metal, you might enjoy Valhalla Calling by voiceplay. It is a video game cover of a newly written song that is a vikings prepare for battle song. Great for your morning workout, or pillaging villages.
There are some other rock covers they've done you would probably enjoy a lot. Dream On by Aerosmith and Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas come to mind first. But they span every genre (literally) and you definitely won't regret going down the rabbit hole into their catalog. Just to get you familiar with the group: (from L to R) Geoff (pronounced Jeff), JNone (former member that comes back to feature), Eli (short for Eliazer, so say it like "El•ee"), Ceasar, and Layne (beatboxer maestro). Keep checking them out bcuz they are crazy talented and you won't regret it. 🤘

I don’t think others have mentioned but they stared in ‘97 and there have been several member changed over the years, so don’t be surprised to see new faces. As for suggestions if you like rock music; you might like the post apocalyptic trilogy . Imagine Dragons-Warriors, Aerosmith-dream on- and White Stripes-Seven Nation Army.

Since you are a big Metallica fan, you may want to also check out Voice Play's cover of "Whiskey In The Jar". For more Rock covers, I would recommend: "Dream On", "Carry On My Wayward Son", "In The Air Tonight", and "Seven Nation Army". As stated in the comments from other "Voice Players"(fans of Voice Play) they cover different genres of music including Disney and Gaming so I recommend going through their play list and picking songs you know and like-- you will not be disappointed. As the other fans have also stated, Voice Play is independent and have no record label or contract by choice so they have complete control of their creative expression and balance of family life vs demands of touring schedule. You won't need to use screens to prevent copyright strikes and blocks as some other groups have. Voice Play wants you to enjoy the complete experience of the audio and visuals and grow their fan base.
Just remember every suingle sound you heard inckuving drum and bass with the exception of violin was all vocal. Voices only. Amazing!!!!

VoicePlay is amazing. They cover a wide variety of Genres, but they really do have some absolutely wonderful Disney covers, my favorite is their cover of Hellfire from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. No song so dark should sound so amazing. Also, Geoff, the bass singer, has his own solo channel he started back during covid. He has some amazing bassy covers there. He clones himself and some of those songs really show off his amazing range. Geoff's highs are just as wonderful as his lows. Have fun exploring more from VP and Geoff. You really can't go wrong. Just pick anything that suits your fancy and you are bound to enjoy it. If you like video games though, there is an older video of VP covering Still Alive from Portal. I found that gem a short while ago and it is so much fun. It seems to have been looked over in the past judging by its number of views. Anyone who wants to see their sweet baby faces and Geoff dancing while "cooking" should definitely check that one out.

Hi! Welcome to the glory that is VoicePlay. Be prepared for a floodgate of subscriptions. I, like many here, subscribed immediately when you did a Voiceplay video. You seem like you're about to go down the rabbit hole and I, for one (and all the rest of the VoicePlayers) are going to absolutely live for your reactions as you get to know the guys, the group's story and their endless supply of wonderful music.
They release at least one full length song per month, sometimes two. They also produce 1 to 4 'minis', just shorts that are excerpts of songs.
VP is entirely independent. They arrange, film concept, set design and building, edit, first mix, production, lights... all of it is them (PattyCake Productions which is listed a lot of the time, is run and owned by Lane Stine, a current VP member and Tony Wakim, a former VP member). Songs go off for a final mixing by Ed Boyer, who does the mixing for all of the the 'Big Three' acapella groups - VoicePlay, Home Free, and Pentatonix - as well as so much more. They also do not copyright claim their videos as they actively enjoy reactor interactions, so no need for a copyright block for them..
The band's members have changed slowly over time, but if you look at the thumbnail for their cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, the individuals from left to right are:
• Geoff Castellucci - The Most Marvelous Bass Singer. Pronounced "Jeff" not "Gee-off." He, himself, has a 5 octave range, and his current lowest note is a B0... there are only two notes lower than that on the Piano.
• J. None - Baritone Perfecto and former member of the band who is serving in the Navy at the moment, but who gets together with the guys for another song whenever he can. Absolutely stunning smooth, warm voice.
• Eli Jacobson - Rock Tennor Sans Compare. The name is pronounced like the feminine name Ellie, rhymes with Jelly, and is short for Eliezer not Elijah. Watching his voice and skill develop over the years has been an absolute delight.
Cesar De La Rosa - Baritone/Tennor Extroidinare. Cool voice, smooth smile, Incredibly theatrical and wonderfully entertaining.
• Layne Stein - Boundless Human Synthesizer. Or maybe an alien. He's got it all. Drum kit, brass section, throat bass, and an ability to create sounds you would *swear* are not possible to create by human mouth and throat. They are. Layne proves it. Also an excellent violin player (Violayne is an earned nickname as you saw. He also breaks it out in their cover of Warriors).
Former Members that you're likely to see in older videos:
Tony Wakim - former bass - now co-owns PattyCake productions with Layne
Earl Elkins - former high tennor (Tennor 1) - stunningly high voice, left for personal reasons
In addition to the band's regular members, in nearly every video, you'll see a guest featured. Common appearances are DeeJay Young, Omar Cardona, J.None(for now technically a guest feature), Rachel Potter, Anthony Gargiula, and Jose Rosario, Jr.
Before I get to recommendations, it's worth noting that although not all of their older songs have them, most of the stuff from the last couple of years has captions, though it usually takes a day or so after the videos are posted for them to be added. Turning on the captions is worth it because sometimes there are funny notes (see VP's cover of Nighmare Before Christmas's Oogie Boogie Song for a prime example) Similarly, it's always worth it to to watch the video credits. On occasion there is something to see during the credits (See Hellfire, Drunken Sailor, or Hall of the Mountain King for the best examples here).

I've starred a few favourites, and it's also definitely worth noting that if a song has lyrics, especially a bridge, that isn't in the original, Geoff Castellucci almost always is the one who writes it.
If I didn't star it, it's still excellent. Even if I didn't list it, it's still amazing. These are just the ones that stand out to me as things I want to see reactors... well, react to.

LMAO welcome to the wonderful world of voiceplay. That was probably one of my favorite songs that they did last year. I think it was one of the first they did last year.
The categories of music that they do is absolutely extensive and all of them are absolutely mind-blowing and you should definitely check them out.
The base also has his own solar work that he does which I also highly recommend.
Couple recommendations to start with Include, but are most certainly not limited to: carry on wayward son, trapped (billie eilish in 3 minutes), dream on, my mother told me, and Valhalla calling. Geoff castellucci (the bass) has house of the rising sun, blackbird, shanendoah, over the misty mountains cold and I see fire.

I loved this cover of theirs, its so sweet and beautiful. Much of Voiceplays covers of things are very creative and playful, they are described sometimes as "the Theatre kids of A Capella". For a few examples of that creativity check out what they have done with some simple sea shanties like drunken sailor or what they did in an acapella cover of "in the hall of the mountain king". That last one would be worth checking out for the costumes alone they are epic! Sometimes on the first listen it can be a little disorienting when it feels like its too changed when you know the song well but if thats a case i normally still love it after hearing a few times. Theres a few particular songs and artists who give me a tingly "head massage" effect when listening if you know what i mean (Current main ones are Heilung's Anoana, Yosi Horikawa's Bubbles and another acapella group called the bass gang who are 4 bass singers with insane ranges, I love so much of their music but they did a cover of My Jolly Sailor Bold and its amazing)
Geoff (The Bass singer here) has some really amazing covers of songs (Geoff and sometimes up to 4 clones of himself in full costume singing is pretty fun to watch no matter what they do) Some fun examples include Jack's Lament from nightmare before Christmas and monster mash from a couple of different years Halloween releases, and I see fire and misty Mountains from the hobbit films. I see fire he managed to make that incredibly beautiful.
VioLayne is always epic to run into, there's a few other cases where Layne pulls out the violin, but unfortunately its late as i am typing this message and i am blanking on the examples (And i am certain others will fill you in elsewhere in the comments before long, there are a lot of voiceplay fans out there)

You definitely picked a good song for your first Voiceplay reaction... This had a VERY rare inclusion of "VioLayne" - the vocal percussionist (Layne) has only played his violin on one other song that I am aware of. Your reactions to Geoff's bass are typical for even seasoned Voiceplay reactors... What a lot of them miss is just after your "What the heck" moment during your "Loving..." comment... Just after he hits his low-low, he goes into the bass guitar solo line while the rest are floating into the rafters... (which is a place he ALSO hangs out on occasion).
They did a good job on "Carry On Wayward Son" as well.

The "what next" question is really hard to answer without SOME sense of what you like, or want to hear. VoicePlay is "all over the map" in terms of styles and musical genres they cover. All of their Disney stuff is outstanding (My favorite is We Don't Talk About Bruno). They do a LOT of rock covers. They do Game themes (Halo comes to mind). For a Viking/Game theme, there are two that are sort of part one and part two. "My Mother Told Me" and "Valhalla Calling." For pirate theme, watch "Hoist the Colors." For a fun remake of a classic, watch "What do we do with a Drunken Sailor." My favorite example of turning a classic on its head is "If I Were a Rich Man/Girl." I'm subscribing just to see which way you go with this! Like I said, the choices are numerous!! You might end up picking a few, and flipping a coin for the order. Again, great reaction!

I always worry when someone says that they are going to cover one of their favorite songs. I’ve noticed that if someone has a problem with the way they’ve arranged it because they’re “stuck” on the original and don’t want to hear anything different. That will not happen with this group. They put their own spin on every piece they do.
And that’s a good thing. I am not a metalhead, I don’t like country, and I’m not crazy about a lot of the more commercial pop pieces. But I do like almost everything they’ve done. The few that I didn’t especially care for were because I just didn’t like the song itself. They manage to turn a song that I didn’t care for or a genre that I don’t care for into something I do listen to. I have been introduced to new types of music because of them and almost always prefer their cover over the original.
I appreciate a truly blind reaction as you don’t have prior conceptions about how you think it should sound. But I do recommend that you always go down to the credits afterward. There’s often information in there that helps and it always lists who the guest artist is.
They use a lot of guest artists because they are one permanent member short right now. If they’re lined up they frequently will put the guest artist in the center, especially in older videos. In this one J who was the guest artist is off to the side. (Many of us don’t consider him a guest artist, but one of the group that’s temporarily away.)
Additionally I always recommend waiting until the patron roll starts before you click off. They will frequently add information or a little bit of of the behind-the-scenes. In addition over the last few years they’ve started using the karaoke track as the music in the outro. As a patron I have access to the karaoke track which is everything except the lead. They are frequently beautiful pieces of music on their own. As a person who’s not musically trained it helps me hear all of the pieces instead of just getting caught up with what they are doing as a group.
One of the pieces you might enjoy, since you liked violin, is there a cover of Warriors originally released by Imagine Dragons it does have a tie to the gaming industry as it was released during a league of legends tournament. Because I’m often unfamiliar with the songs they are covering I go out to check the original, usually before I listen to their cover. The cover I found of that piece was synced to footage from the game so it made the song a lot more meaningful for me. Layne

You might also want to check out my second favorite a cappella group which is The Bass Gang. it is made up of four base singers who met over the Internet during Covid and decided to collaborate virtually. Three of the four finally got to meet this summer but up until then they had only communicated via the Internet. They often will also collaborate with another artist. Usually they choose another bass singer.
Two pieces I would recommend simply because you seem to really like those deep bass notes would be my favorites: Yellow Flicker Beat with Colm McGuinness and Centuries with Jonathan Young.
