Thank you to your Patreon member that has requested this group. They are incredible and my absolute favorite musical group. I’m sure you will get more info in other comments but thank you! They haven’t done any other Metallica songs but they have done a few rock covers. Dream On and Seven Nation Army are a couple. I hope you will react to them again!
This was my introduction to VoicePlay, I've always loved the original song and fell in love with this version, which was arranged by Geoff, their bass singer. Thanks for the reaction!
Absolute masterpiece of an arrangement from the Bass (Geoff) - they take turns to arrange. Voiceplay does not shy away from a challenge 😉. They have not covered another Metallica song, but they did cover a song that Metallica also covered, namely "Whiskey in a Jar". There are, in fact, many covers of the song as it is a song from the 1600's! VP has quite a few rock covers however, and you really should check them out if you haven't already: "Dream On" (Aerosmith), "Carry on Wayward Son" (Kansas), "In the Air Tonight" (Phil Collins), "Seven Nation Army" (White Stripes) and their latest release "Black Hole Sun" (Soundgarden). They cover almost ALL genres however (the widest a capella genre range imho) - so you can just check what tickles your fancy - they never disappoint. Thank you for the review 🌹🕊
Also a few other rock songs: "Creep" by RadioHead and 2 Imagine Dragons songs "Enemy" and "Warriors". "Warriors" also gives us more of Layne (beatboxer) playing violin. It was the first we heard it. He very rarely brings it out. This song was only the 2nd time. Altho' he did play it again this past January on "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Whenever he does play violin fans call him VioLayne.
Not that I know of BUT they have done In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (RadioHead), I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Valhalla Calling (Miracle of Sound), Warriors (Imagine Dragons) both Layne and J None have violins here, Dream On (Aerosmith), Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Dragonborn Comes Skyrim.
Thanks for your reaction! They actually do rock out more than the other acapella groups. This cover was seen by members of the legendary band ,'Chicago', prompting them to reach out to Voice Play and Voice Play sang with them in two shows this past November. Voice Play does a cover of "Whiskey In The Jar", an old Irish folk song that was covered first as a rock song in the 1970's by Thin Lizzy and later as a rock song by Metallica in the 1980's. Other rock covers by Voice Play include: "Dream On", Carry On My Wayward Son", "In The Air Tonight", and "Seven Nation Army", and "Black Hole Sun" to name just a few.
Voiceplay is just the best!! They've done a lot of rock, but they do every genre. You might try their version of Carry On Wayward Son, it is mind blowing. They lost their high tenor in 2020 when he left (after 23 years) for undisclosed personal reasons. J None, featured in this one, next to Geoff, was with them from 2018 to 2021 when he left to sing with the US Navy. He has been replaced, the tenor has not. You will see featured artists in almost all of their recent work because they are still one man short. Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay. Also, Geoff Castellucci, the bass, started a solo channel when Covid prevented Voiceplay from touring.
Geoff's voice has been compared to butter, honey, silk, and his deep notes as dragonbreath, but I recently heard someone say it was like molasses. Rich, smooth and dark, that kind of does it. :) No they haven't done any more Metallica, but they have done Dream On, another surprise for a capella. And In The Air Tonight. And Seven Nation Army.
Voiceplay are the king of the music crop on any Halloween themed song or video game based song. You will find you keep adding them to your playlist. They did Metallica's cover of whiskey in the jar.
You’ve alerted the voiceplay heard… Voiceplay also does a cover a lesser known Metallica song, Whiskey in the Jar. Highly recommended, I have both of these saved to my playlist. Other rock songs include Black Hole Sun, Seven Nation Army, In the Air Tonight… They started their introduction to rock/metal/grunge with Aerosmith’s Dream On and Kansas’ Carry On My Wayward Son. Highly recommended for the raw, less edited versions. They also have some shorts. Something in the Way by Nirvana is so eerie with Geoff’s voice. The last several videos focus primarily on rock music, but their catalog includes top 10s, disney covers, broadway, pop, a few country songs. Enjoy the rabbit hole :)
Other rock type stuff they’ve covered includes Dream On, Seven National Army, Creep, & In The Air Tonight, although that’s more pop. All worth listening to. I want to hear them do Enter Sandman; just to hear Geoff growl through that spoken part.
For me definitely one of the best A Capella Group!👍🫶 Of them is worth listening to! Or even the solo stuff of Geoff Castellucci the incredible Bass!🫶👏👏 well selected! 👍
Ok I know you like Voiceplay but the bass singer Geoff also has his own channel and songs . Geoff has does songs from Lords of the Rings and the Hobbit
@@MatandChelsReact That’s understandable. I don’t know much about how the magic happens. Either way, I loved the reaction and will be right back here the next time you drop a Voiceplay song
Far better than that spoken word version of One that Apocalyptica just dropped lol OMG it's terrible and I love Apocalyptica (I've seen them live, even). I mean it's good. But it's still hard to listen to with the spoken word stuff going on lol it's just...grating...forced...painful.
I don't like it... I mean, don't get me wrong, i absolutely appreaciate the insane amount of skill these gentelmen have. But it's just not clicking with me for some reason.

They reacted to 2 other songs by them a few months ago - This is Halloween and Oogie Boogies song
@@wildwine6400 Yes, I saw those. 😅

When they decide to grab you by the feels, your feels are grabbed. 😊
Can't Make You Love Me so reduces me to tears

Geoff and Layne (beat boxer) both have 5 octave voices, play several instruments and have been friends since jr high.
Her face with Geoff did Geoff things......awesome.....
This covered Whiskey in the Jar which Metallica also covered. Thanks for the reaction!!
Not a Mettalica fan, but LOVED this! Amazed by the arrangement! Thanks VP for an incredible performance. Great reactions, too.

Fiddle is THE only instrument allowed in accapella kingdom, so it's O.K. Thanks for your reaction.

"Thunder dipped in honey" is one of my favorite descriptions for Geoff's voice. 😄 🗣⚡🍯
They did a cover of Whiskey in the Jar :)
@@MtheHell That's another good one. :)
Love the violin in there, that could have gone on longer! The beatboxing is top class in this one to!
You might like to check out their cover of Imagine Dragons' "Warriors". It was the first we saw him play the violin and it is for most of the song.
@@hwyla4416and J plays for a bit as well 🎻

Voiceplay used VioLayne

I love this version. I also love their new cover of "black hole sun" y'all should check it out
They've done Aerosmith (Dream On), White Stripes (Seven Nation Army) and Warriors (can't think of the artist right now).
If you haven’t seen it already watch Stan Walker’s I Am and his Ultralight Beam
please watch and enjoy: ifa - Burn Your Desire

How well was this reaction synced to the video? It seemed like you guys were reacting a couple seconds after key moments in the song
That’s a negative to using Bluetooth headphones sometimes. Unfortunately we didn’t realize until after we edited how bad the delay was this time.

I think your audio syncing is off.
Our headphones had an unfortunate delay during this recording.
