The thing that convinced me that she is a Skywalker is when the lightsaber came into her hand and not Kylo Ren's you hear Luke's theme.....most notably when Luke saw the charred remains of his aunt and uncle in A New Hope...the moment of a great reckoning...as with Rey.
Bryce Tharp Right? I mean that was the moment Luke realized there was no other path for him and went with Obi-wan to become a jedi. The first time that Rey holds the lightsaber she immediately has a force vision but rejects it. But it's b/c she knows that it's her destiny like Maz even tells her. So when the lightsaber flys to her and not Kylo it's b/c she is the chosen one and she is excepting that she has no other choice it's her destiny to go to Luke and become a Jedi.
As I have been saying for close to two years -- the trailer for episode 7: "The force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it. And you have it, too." To whom was Luke speaking (in the trailer)? NOT Kylo Ren.
The way I look at the whole Star Wars saga is that it's about the Skywalker family. The orginal trilogy was about Luke, the prequels was about Anakin's, it just makes sense that Rey is a Skywalker. But I think there's going to be a twist that she's not just a Skywalker, but more, hence why she is very strong with the force.
Some of these people don't want Rey to be a Skywalker because they want Kylo Ren to be the last of the bloodline. These fans can't accept that he is a villain, and want Luke and Rey to save his ass. As if a mother's love is less than an "epic romance by an enemy". They are constantly erasing Leia. I'm seeing these bastards everywhere on SW UA-cam. They're not convincing anyone, but they are definitely being annoying.

The strongest argument for Rey being a Skywalker I think is the one that states the Star Wars episodes are are about the Skywalker family and she's the next Skywalker generation. The Skywalker line resting on Ben Solo seems unlikely to me because his fate doesn't seem promising and his last name is Solo and he's not THE main character. His fate seems similar to me like Darth Vader's fate. As for Rey, since she's the main character it seems to me that she then must be a Skywalker in order to have the series remain about the Skywalkers.
I agree with you 100% that Rey is a Skywalker, the people who don't want her as a Skywalker are asking for too much. Plus this isn't Luke & Leia's story any more it's Rey's story and Rey Skywalker makes the most sense. It would be cool if they bring back Mara Jade into canon as Rey's mom

I just realised this... New Trilogy gives out two new Skywalkers (I mean, Skywalker by blood) There was Two Skywalkers in the prequels, (one died) then there was three Skywalkers in the original, Luke and Leia. If Rey IS a Skywalker, that would make four Skywalkers, since Ben is a Skywalker by blood.
It almost feels as though the question of Rey being a Skywalker is comparable to asking whether Senator Palpatine would later be revealed to be Darth Sidious after watching Episode 1. It felt like a given, from all the hints thrown throughout Episode 7 that Rey was a Skywalker, down to the emotional silent meeting between Luke and Rey and yet fans managed to imagine every theory under the sun for convoluted explanations of who she really was. That said, I completely expect the film to toss viewers an "Oracle tells Neo he's not The One" curveball scene only to reveal late in the third act that she really is a Skywalker after all.
Something I don't understand, if Rey isn't a Skywalker why did they cast someone who LOOKS like a relative of Natalie Portman or Carrie Fisher? Why not go completely different racially?
Star Wars loves pattern. First trilogy Luke stands, legs parted, hands behind back in the second film gazing out Second trilogy, anakin stands legs parted, hands crossed Behind back in the second film gazing out. New trilogy, Rey stands gazing out in second film legs parted, hands behind back. She's a sky walker. The films love the subtle pieces of symbolism and Symmetry.
I've always...from the very beginning, believed Rey was a Skywalker. And as state Star Wars has always been about the Skywalkers, and I would've assumed, by now, everyone was clear on that, but I suppose not. I love the idea of it, it is aspects of the Legendary Expanded Universe, re-written in it's current form, and while I can't say I'm not disappointed that they didn't go with the original structure, I'm finding more and more that I like the direction they've chosen. I also agree on the cycle rotation of the saga's narrative. And I don't think it gets old, it gets old if you let it get old. But because of the Skywalkers intimate connections with an infinite array of other characters, you can eventually draw away to the adventures of some cousin third born on the skywalker side, with a whole different climate and atmosphere, but it'll still be a Skywalker story at heart. You got a point, Star Wars Coffee, and I just found your channel. The split-face pictures really show a similarity in appearance between Rey, Luke and Padmé (the last one is not a Skywalker, but is Anakin's wife, Luke's mother and, if the theory is true, Rey's grandmother).

There is another theory that she is a Kenobi which seemed fairly solid. One point is when she has her vision out of all the voices the one voice which addresses her directly is Obi-Wan.
I like your thought on "the Jedi must end". I too see that Luke's means their role for the past. Very similar to what Luke did in legends. Not that Jedi need to cease to exist.
She is the daughter of Luke and Obi Wan's granddaughter. Luke fathered her but never met her. She is a secret that only Leia knows about. She was raised by her mom until dropped off on Jakku. Kilo knows who she is because of a force dream but probably doesn't know she is his cousin. She is a secret because she was conceived during tumultuous times. Luke had Reys mom leave while she was pregnant to keep her safe. When Luke realized Rey could be used as leverage against him he had Reys mom leave her on jakku, which is a force protected planet. At least that's what I think. 2 months until movie time.

It was revealed that Rey is a Skywalker, yet most either missed it, forgot or in denial. It was revealed in one of The Force Awakens trailers where Luke narrates... "The force is strong in my family...I have it, my father has it, my sister has it...and YOU have it too." Luke was NOT speaking of Finn. End of Hypergeek speculation. Great video!!!! Finally a smart video and you've nailed it. Great job!!! oh... there was a pre-production painting of Rey and it was titled... "Rey Skywalker". Thanks again! One more thing that is lacking discussion... Rey is either learning her skills and use of the force in one of two possible ways... either she's tapping into the force and learning fast which is what is most likely happening, or...Luke is sending her instructions through the force since Luke would be able to do if he has advanced over the years and he's Rey's father which makes a strong connection just like in The Empire Strikes Back when Darth Vader called out to Luke and Luke heard him over a vast distance... Luke also called out to Leia when he was hanging from Bespin/Cloud city and she heard him as she told Han to turn around to get Luke.

When Luke says its time for the jedi, to end. I believe its because the force is not to be horded, it is to be shared in its perfect balance. Its so much bigger......... Hording it leads to an absolute path to dark, which can causes evil, and hording it also leads to an absolute light path which causes evil, depending on your point of view. Your welcome.
I really don't get this balance of the force thing, because if you're a good person you don't need a bad person to even you out. The whole argument between the good and evil is moot. Good needs to destroy evil in order to live peacefully.

Very well done. I definitely agree and you put it well. I hope these much-touted "twists" don't destroy fundamental elements of the original trilogy so they can then go outside of the conventions you mentioned. Anything is possible, but your arguement is the way it SHOULD be.
Its totally a skywalker story from the very beginning and will be to the end. It also seems to be the theme of a fallen skywalker and an emerging skywalker that was the recipe for the magic and epic hit it became so they are starting over realizing R.O.T.J. didn't have that magic nor did the prequels. Its a copy of the original recipe but with more elements so it doesn't get bogged down after two episodes and its sort of the genius of Lucas to start the movies with the new hope episode. The force awakens should have been called a new, new hope. lol Rey/luke .. Finn, Poe/ Hann, chewi ... Kylo/Vader... Snoke/ Palpatine... Luke/yoda..... And so a new/old saga begins.
Isnt it hilarious, that people are still debating Rey theories and Snoke theories, when Abrams and Kennedy dont know the answer themself - because they didnt thought ANYTHING further than TFA. Literally, Rian Johnson had to do the story from the scratch, because Abrams made all these mysteries and just dropped them. They had no vision and they literally have been making up the story on the fly. Its horrible.

A single generation has 2 skywalkers, let's look at each generation: Generation 1: Padme and Anakin, Generation 2: Luke and Leia, Generation 3: Rey Skywalker and Ben Solo.
The revelation of her bloodline is looking unlikely to be the twist. It must have to do with the circumstances that made Rey end up on Jakku at such a young age. I'm also thinking that the real twist will have to do about the real purpose or use of the Force.
Anthony Mercado In Star Wars, Rey is the actual Leia Skywalker (Luke's Sister), and Leia Organa is just a decoy. Let me explain: At the end of Star Wars Episode 3, Padme gives birth to Luke and Leia. Obi-Wan and Yoda decide to split the 2 children apart and hide them so that the Empire will have less chance of finding them. Luke is sent to Tatooine to be with his family, because Yoda and Obi-Wan figured Vader would never return to Tatooine. Leia is sent away with Bail Organa to live on Alderon as his daughter. WAIT A MINUTE! Bail Organa was Palpatine's political rival in the senate. Why would Obi-Wan and Yoda be so foolish as to send Leia to be with a man that Darth Sidious probably wants to dispose of? Perhaps they sent a decoy child with Bail Organa to hide the true location/identity of Leia Skywalker. Anyways, in Episode 4 when Leia Organa is captured by Darth Vader, Vader does not sense Leia Organa as his daughter, even when he is standing right next to her. Vader is a VERY powerful dude, I dont think for a second that he wouldn't be able to sense his own daughter, especially when he was able to sense Luke so easily in Episode 5. In Episode 5, when Luke leaves Dagobah to help his friends out of trouble, Obi-Wan says "That boy is our last hope" then Yoda says "No, there is another" . When Leia is revealed to be Luke's sister in Episode 6, we all assume that she is the other hope Yoda was talking about. BUT WHAT IF Yoda was talking about the real Leia Skywalker that they had hidden? In Episode 5, Luke and Leia make out. Once the audience learns that they are siblings, this becomes gross incest. If Leia Organa was not a real skywalker, all of a sudden the incest kiss is fixed and isnt gross, wouldn't that be sweet? In Episode 6, Obi-wan's force ghost tells Luke that he has a sister, and that he had hidden/separated Luke and Leia so that their Identity could "remain anonymous" and Luke says "Leia, Leia is my sister" and Obi-Wan says "Your feelings serve you well" . WHAT IF Luke gained understanding at that moment that there were 2 Leias, his sister, and the decoy Leia Organa, and went along with the plan? On Endor, Luke tells Leia Organa this "The force is strong in my family. I have it. My father has it. My sister has it. You have that power too." And Leia says "Somehow I always knew" ...I'll admit, this moment goes against my theory, but perhaps Luke used a mind trick to have Leia Organa believe that she was his sister, that way she could be a bigger part of the decoy plan now. And maybe when Luke said "you have that power too" , he was telling Leia that she could use the force as well, and Luke specifically separates "my sister" and "you" . When Vader duels with Luke at the end of Episode 6, Vader finally senses that Luke has a sister. Luke gets pissed off and uses anger and the dark side to beat his Father. Leia Organa says that she can "feel it" that Luke escapes the Death Star at the end of Episode 6, proving that she is indeed force-sensitive. In Episode 7, Rey is introduced as a scavenger, pulled right into the heat of conflict by the force, quickly becoming an expert pilot, learning without training how to use the force, and eventually defeating Kylo Ren in battle. When Rey finds the Skywalker Lightsaber in Maz Kanata's castle, Rey has a vision and Maz Kanata says "This lightsaber was Lukes, and his father's before him, and now, it calls to you." I think most of the audience (including myself) at this point assumed that Rey was a Skywalker, either Luke's daughter, or Leia's daughter. BUT HOLD ON, if Rey was the daughter of Luke or Han Solo, this would be so dissapointingly predictable and lame of a big shocking reveal. It wouldnt surprise anyone. MILLIONS of dollars were put into these movies, and Episode 8 will try to match the "I am your Father" moment. It would be super lame if she was a daughter of Luke or Leia, but she is still obviously a Skywalker. In Episode 7, when Kylo Ren is fighting Rey, and tries to force pull the Skywalker lightsaber into his hand, it flies past him and lands in Reys hands. Rey beats Kylo Ren in a duel with no former training whatsoever. This makes sense because Rey is the Real Leia Skywalker, meaning that Kylo Ren is not actually a Skywalker, which explains why that lightsaber called to Rey and not him. Rey is simply more favorable in the eyes of the force, which is why she was able to beat Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren wants so desperately to follow in his Vader's footsteps. Over the course of Episode 7, he slowly realizes that Rey is the real Leia Skywalker, and that he is not actually Vader's grandson like he had hoped. This would explain his increasing temper and craziness. Rey being Leia Skywalker would create significance to the relationship that will be built between her and Luke in Episode 8. Brother and Sister. Okay, I know what you're thinking: "Rey is like 35 years younger than Luke how could this possibly work?" Well, first off, this is Star Wars, not real life. Im sure Carbon Freezing is a part of this universe. What makes more sense to me though, is at the beginning of Episode 7 when it shows Rey's makeshift home, and she tally's another day on to a giant wall of tally marks. We dont know how large that wall is, and how many years she has actually been on Jakku. Rey loads up a container with a "portion" , which was the food the slavers on Jakku payed to their workers. Jakku is a scarce in population density, and they need workers to be as efficient as possible. Perhaps the food they give to their workers increases their life span, thus making their workers much more efficient. It even shows an older lady working next to Rey, that is obviously working slower than Rey is. This would explain why Rey is still so young.
Im personally of the opinion that she is not a Skywalker. Im not saying she can't be a Skywalker , but I am saying any 'proof' in this video can easily be explained away. Using Rey's three buns as evidence is reaching way to much. Also auditions for Rey was open to ALL races. And I am white, slim and a brunette. So was Jyn. So... yeah, that's really not evidence. 'It is you' could easily mean she's who Snoke was talking about when he said to Kylo there's been an awakening. And 'What girl' could just as easily be Kylo thinking, 'I let the traitor go when I shouldn't have, he made off with the droid I need, and now someone else is involved! What if she's with the Resistance?!' I read through some people's comments and man, some are just disheartening. Burning Disney if she's not a Skywalker? No longer being a Star Wars fan if you don't get what you want? If anyone thinks otherwise they are ignorant? Eesh, what a sad world we live in today to pin all your hopes on Rey Skywalker 'or else'. Be prepared to leave, those of you who feel this way. You know. Just in case.
That just disproves Rey Solo. But Luke has no known wife. If Rey had a different skin color, then it is logical she got it from her mother. For example, if Rey is Asian and Luke is still the father, then Disney would likely pair Luke with someone like Dr. Aphra.
Ben is a Skywalker. Luke is a Skywalker. Leia is a Skywalker. That's enough for this saga. These movies will probably bring closure to the Skywalker story, but they will probably be about Ben's redemption and leave open ends to lead-in to Episodes 10-12...familiarity will be needed, so that leaves either Rey or Ben to move the story of the Star Wars galaxy along. And in that light, it would have more meaning for me personally if Rey redeemed Ben but was NOT a Skywalker. If she redeems him and is a Skywalker...something about that is douche-chill-inducing-predictable and boring.
How did redemption work out for Anakin? And none of three Skywalkers are the lead protagonist of ST. Only Rey is. Anakin was the lead in PT and Luke was the lead in OT.
Why would she be a Skywalker if she has a British accent? That's not something that would happen in the SW universe, there is attention to consistency.
Because there's no reason why she shouldn't have one. Are you really presenting this as the 'killer reason' why she isn't Luke's daughter? What if she was raised by her mother or guardians before being dropped on Jakku and they spoke British. What is Daisy Ridley's British accent was something Abrams preferred so he asked her to keep it? This is not a deal breaker.

TWSTF 8 : Uhhh.... Did you ever think that maybe it's possible she may have been KIDNAPPED? Even if she is a Kenobi you still have to explain how and why she was left on Jakku and why she is so powerful with the force. So powerful she can literally beat the shit out of a trained force user with little to no training herself and that dude IS a Skywalker. You know how religious people believe in Christ because of the fear of Nothingness after they die? That's basically the same thing you are doing with this "Kenobi's Granddaughter" theory, Having blind faith in something that don't exists/make any sense just because it's more comforting then the alternative.
She is the other "Hope" that Yoda spoke of in Jedi. We all thought that was Leia, but she never became a Jedi. I believe that Yoda was sensing another "Hope" in the future, Ray is it. Also, remember what Yoda said in ROTS, "The Prophecy, misread it was" (or something like that). Ani may have never been the true chosen one, instead the one leading to her, his granddaughter, Ray.
She is genetically "Skywalker" from Vader's DNA. She was clone by Syfo Dias "the clone master" (AKA Snoke). Luke heard about this, he went on a mission to stole her and her mother when she was a baby, then successes and left a big scar on Snoke's head during a sabre battle. But he is still alive, this come with a prices for Luke to pay. After years passed. Snoke's regenerated. He lure Ben(problem kid) to join his empire and promise that he can be strong like his grandfather "Vader" because Skywalker is a best choice he want after lost baby Vader's Clone.
I always found the Jedi order to be very legalistic, very rigid, those who followed the letter of the Whills but not the spirit. I like to think that the original Jedi were grey jedi who "chose" the light over the dark. The balance comes from choice, not dogmatic adherence to a rule or absolute supremacy of the light over the dark. They had families and became stronger and wiser in the force due to successfully overcoming the temptations of the dark side. This type of change in the lore also opens the drama up to far more interesting stories of grey force users who follow the light confronting force users who follow the dark or worse the re-emergence of the Sith. It's possible the Jedi Knights were a reaction to the Sith and over time they became like the Sith in their own dogma. Hence Luke's declaration that the Jedi as they were, must end.
She is either Luke's daughter or Leah's daughter, therefore a Solo or a Skywalker, but either way, she is the granddaughter of Anakin. Either the reveal will be how Han Solo didn't know about Rey or about Luke's wife (Rey's mother). Luke seems like too big of a dork to ever have a wife, so I think Rey is Leah's daughter and Kylo's sister.
The 'It is you', could be explained away as Rey is the awakening in the Force that Snoke mentioned to Kylo earlier in the film. Rey is most certainly either a Skywalker or a Kenobi. But it is a continuation of the Skywalker saga either way as by Rian Johnson's own admission the Last Jedi is Luke's story. Rey may be the main character but the story is about Luke.
It is interesting this "its always about the Skywalkers" I watched the original trilogy, when it was released, and intepreted it as the story of 2 droids and the people they met along their story (of course back then i also thought Vader was an evil droid and so were all the stormtroopers... well i was like 7 or 8 at the time) When the prequels came out,i watched these with the same view, its the story of 2 droids and the people they help and save, and end up helping with along the way. TFA was the first movie ive watched without thinking its the story of 2 droids, and thats only because it took more than half the film beofre we saw either droid I dont suppose many will agree with me, but for me the first 6 films were the story of 2 droids and the people they helped and met along their strange journey through the galaxy
Lucas always wanted to do a homage to the Hidden Fortress. But make no mistake, he had always intended the Skywalkers to be the main focus. And besides, those droids are the Skywalker droids.

As much as people talk about Rey I can't help but get the feeling that Ben is the real hero of the new trilogy. It's like when they advertised Finn with a light saber on posters and trailers people believed he was the Jedi in the movie but it was Rey who was the real force user. They keep on presenting Rey for TLJ as the hero but Kylo is definitely the one with more layers to his character, much like his Grandpa Vader. I want to see Rey and Kylo fight together! Light accepting Dark and Dark accepting light lol
After Mace survived his fall from Palpatine's window he uses the force in the form of force crush which his anger allowed him to tap into and crushed the heads of a few clone troopers who were at the bottom casually talking with each other until their surprise death. He puts on the aromor of a clone trooper to disguise himself even though he had a missing hand which he explained using the jedi mind trick that a jedi had cut it off in a fit of anger. Then a medical droid builds him a mechanical hand and he then put on a clone trooper glove and joined a group of troopers that headed for a transport to Mustafar to set up a command post. He finds that these troopers had a collection of light sabors from fallen jedi who were killed at the Jedi temple, he hides one of them inside a weopons pack and waited until he could break away from the other troopers. After the ship laded behind Darth sidious' ship, he takes the opportunity to steal the ship and escape. He makes it to Yavin 4 and takes an escape pod after he set the onboard computer to continue on until it runs out of fuel. His escape pod crashes to the surface of Yavin 4 and Mace Windu goes into the woods where he hid out from the empire. A few years later an empire prison shuttle crashes on Yavin 4 and it stranded a group of prisoners and a couple clone troopers. One of the clone troopers ended up mating with a Chis female prisoner and has a highly force sensitive son and, due to his inherited accelerated, he was a young boy about five years old within two years. The boy was named Castrian and one day he got lost in the woods where Mace Windu found him and kept him hidden from his family. He took the boy as a padawan and soon an imperial ship comes and picks up the survivors of the prison shuttle and the two surviving clone troopers rejoin the other troopers and takes the recaptured prisoners to their former destination. Mace and Castrian became very close like a father and son and he trains Castrian to be a jedi like himself. Then when Castrian was approximately 25 he and Master Mace Windu take the now repaired prison shuttle on to Tatooeen where they stay until Luke Skywalker is of age and Mace and Kenobi agree that they go on separate missions against the Empire. While Kenobi takes Luke on their mission Mace and Castrian board another trader ship and go to another group of rebels to help them on their missions.
Ever since Rey's name was announced I've been certain it will turn out to be short for - or refer to - Naberrie, in homage to Amidala. Rey is sooooo a Skywalker... although I think we'll learn she is Skywalker "created" rather than birthed. ;)

what if she's Anakin's twin sister taken from young age and frozen by Plagueis for midichlorian manipulation test, then as Palpatine seemingly kills Plagueis, he freezes him unknowingly that Plagueis used the Darth Sion technique to survive, then gets unfrozen with Rey at the same moment and takes the name Snoke
I believe both Fin and Rey are children of Luke's students that Kilo killed. I believe that Kilo took Fin and Luke took Rey and Luke took the millennium falcon to Jakku. I believe that the Lor san Tekka was left there by Luke to watch over Rey that is why he had info on where Luke was. I believe Fin is also a child from the students because you notice at the beginning of force awakens that Kilo looks directly at Fin and pauses as if he knows something. Also when Fin helps Poe escape Kilo new who helped without being told and is extremely upset at his betrayal towards the end of the movie.
The Bloodline novel shows that Kylo switched sides less than six years before TFA. Rey was left on Jakku more than 10 years earlier and Finn was a stormtrooper ever since he was a baby, (over 20 years ago)

Luke and Mara jade started the new Jedi temple together. They had a daughter mareya Skywalker, rey for short. The light saber is a SKYWALKER FAMILY HEIRLOOM!!!!! It will only be handled by a Skywalker!!!!!!!! Ankain to Luke, father to son. Mara jade to rey, mother to daughter and rey hands it back to luke. The story should go that luke was away from the jedi temple when kylo ren attacked it and mara jade fought off kylo and the knights of ren so that her daughter could escape. Mara jade was killed and the light saber was picked up by maz kanata cause she was there at the jedi temple as well during that attack and that's why she had it in the force awakens. That's also why the light saber called to rey back at Maz's place and why it flew to rey instead of kylo ren for their battle. And star wars is the story of one person only LUKE SKYWALKER!!!!! The thing that convinced me that she is a Skywalker is when the lightsaber came into her hand and not Kylo Ren's you hear Luke's theme.....most notably when Luke saw the charred remains of his aunt and uncle in A New Hope...the moment of a great reckoning...as with Rey.

The first time that Rey holds the lightsaber she immediately has a force vision but rejects it. But it's b/c she knows that it's her destiny like Maz even tells her. So when the lightsaber flys to her and not Kylo it's b/c she is the chosen one and she is excepting that she has no other choice it's her destiny to go to Luke and become a Jedi.

The way I look at the whole Star Wars saga is that it's about the Skywalker family. The orginal trilogy was about Luke, the prequels was about Anakin's, it just makes sense that Rey is a Skywalker. But I think there's going to be a twist that she's not just a Skywalker, but more, hence why she is very strong with the force.

The strongest argument for Rey being a Skywalker I think is the one that states the Star Wars episodes are are about the Skywalker family and she's the next Skywalker generation. The Skywalker line resting on Ben Solo seems unlikely to me because his fate doesn't seem promising and his last name is Solo and he's not THE main character. His fate seems similar to me like Darth Vader's fate. As for Rey, since she's the main character it seems to me that she then must be a Skywalker in order to have the series remain about the Skywalkers.
I agree with you 100% that Rey is a Skywalker, the people who don't want her as a Skywalker are asking for too much. Plus this isn't Luke & Leia's story any more it's Rey's story and Rey Skywalker makes the most sense. It would be cool if they bring back Mara Jade into canon as Rey's mom

I just realised this... New Trilogy gives out two new Skywalkers (I mean, Skywalker by blood) There was Two Skywalkers in the prequels, (one died) then there was three Skywalkers in the original, Luke and Leia. If Rey IS a Skywalker, that would make four Skywalkers, since Ben is a Skywalker by blood.

It almost feels as though the question of Rey being a Skywalker is comparable to asking whether Senator Palpatine would later be revealed to be Darth Sidious after watching Episode 1.
It felt like a given, from all the hints thrown throughout Episode 7 that Rey was a Skywalker, down to the emotional silent meeting between Luke and Rey and yet fans managed to imagine every theory under the sun for convoluted explanations of who she really was.
That said, I completely expect the film to toss viewers an "Oracle tells Neo he's not The One" curveball scene only to reveal late in the third act that she really is a Skywalker after all.

I've always...from the very beginning, believed Rey was a Skywalker. And as state Star Wars has always been about the Skywalkers, and I would've assumed, by now, everyone was clear on that, but I suppose not. I love the idea of it, it is aspects of the Legendary Expanded Universe, re-written in it's current form, and while I can't say I'm not disappointed that they didn't go with the original structure, I'm finding more and more that I like the direction they've chosen.
I also agree on the cycle rotation of the saga's narrative. And I don't think it gets old, it gets old if you let it get old. But because of the Skywalkers intimate connections with an infinite array of other characters, you can eventually draw away to the adventures of some cousin third born on the skywalker side, with a whole different climate and atmosphere, but it'll still be a Skywalker story at heart. There is another theory that she is a Kenobi which seemed fairly solid. One point is when she has her vision out of all the voices the one voice which addresses her directly is Obi-Wan.
I like your thought on "the Jedi must end". I too see that Luke's means their role for the past. Very similar to what Luke did in legends. Not that Jedi need to cease to exist.

She is the daughter of Luke and Obi Wan's granddaughter. Luke fathered her but never met her. She is a secret that only Leia knows about. She was raised by her mom until dropped off on Jakku. Kilo knows who she is because of a force dream but probably doesn't know she is his cousin.
She is a secret because she was conceived during tumultuous times. Luke had Reys mom leave while she was pregnant to keep her safe. When Luke realized Rey could be used as leverage against him he had Reys mom leave her on jakku, which is a force protected planet.
At least that's what I think. 2 months until movie time.

It was revealed that Rey is a Skywalker, yet most either missed it, forgot or in denial. It was revealed in one of The Force Awakens trailers where Luke narrates... "The force is strong in my family...I have it, my father has it, my sister has it...and YOU have it too." Luke was NOT speaking of Finn. End of Hypergeek speculation. Great video!!!! Finally a smart video and you've nailed it. Great job!!! oh... there was a pre-production painting of Rey and it was titled... "Rey Skywalker". Thanks again! One more thing that is lacking discussion... Rey is either learning her skills and use of the force in one of two possible ways... either she's tapping into the force and learning fast which is what is most likely happening, or...Luke is sending her instructions through the force since Luke would be able to do if he has advanced over the years and he's Rey's father which makes a strong connection just like in The Empire Strikes Back when Darth Vader called out to Luke and Luke heard him over a vast distance... Luke also called out to Leia when he was hanging from Bespin/Cloud city and she heard him as she told Han to turn around to get Luke.

I really don't get this balance of the force thing, because if you're a good person you don't need a bad person to even you out. The whole argument between the good and evil is moot. Good needs to destroy evil in order to live peacefully.

Very well done. I definitely agree and you put it well. I hope these much-touted "twists" don't destroy fundamental elements of the original trilogy so they can then go outside of the conventions you mentioned. Anything is possible, but your arguement is the way it SHOULD be.
Its totally a skywalker story from the very beginning and will be to the end. It also seems to be the theme of a fallen skywalker and an emerging skywalker that was the recipe for the magic and epic hit it became so they are starting over realizing R.O.T.J. didn't have that magic nor did the prequels. Its a copy of the original recipe but with more elements so it doesn't get bogged down after two episodes and its sort of the genius of Lucas to start the movies with the new hope episode. The force awakens should have been called a new, new hope. lol Rey/luke .. Finn, Poe/ Hann, chewi ... Kylo/Vader... Snoke/ Palpatine... Luke/yoda..... And so a new/old saga begins.

Isnt it hilarious, that people are still debating Rey theories and Snoke theories, when Abrams and Kennedy dont know the answer themself - because they didnt thought ANYTHING further than TFA. Literally, Rian Johnson had to do the story from the scratch, because Abrams made all these mysteries and just dropped them. They had no vision and they literally have been making up the story on the fly. Its horrible.

A single generation has 2 skywalkers, let's look at each generation:
Generation 1: Padme and Anakin, Generation 2: Luke and Leia, Generation 3: Rey Skywalker and Ben Solo.
The revelation of her bloodline is looking unlikely to be the twist. It must have to do with the circumstances that made Rey end up on Jakku at such a young age. I'm also thinking that the real twist will have to do about the real purpose or use of the Force.

Anthony Mercado In Star Wars, Rey is the actual Leia Skywalker (Luke's Sister), and Leia Organa is just a decoy. Let me explain:
At the end of Star Wars Episode 3, Padme gives birth to Luke and Leia. Obi-Wan and Yoda decide to split the 2 children apart and hide them so that the Empire will have less chance of finding them.
Luke is sent to Tatooine to be with his family, because Yoda and Obi-Wan figured Vader would never return to Tatooine. Leia is sent away with Bail Organa to live on Alderon as his daughter.
WAIT A MINUTE! Bail Organa was Palpatine's political rival in the senate. Why would Obi-Wan and Yoda be so foolish as to send Leia to be with a man that Darth Sidious probably wants to dispose of? Perhaps they sent a decoy child with Bail Organa to hide the true location/identity of Leia Skywalker.
Anyways, in Episode 4 when Leia Organa is captured by Darth Vader, Vader does not sense Leia Organa as his daughter, even when he is standing right next to her. Vader is a VERY powerful dude, I dont think for a second that he wouldn't be able to sense his own daughter, especially when he was able to sense Luke so easily in Episode 5.
In Episode 5, when Luke leaves Dagobah to help his friends out of trouble, Obi-Wan says "That boy is our last hope" then Yoda says "No, there is another" . When Leia is revealed to be Luke's sister in Episode 6, we all assume that she is the other hope Yoda was talking about. BUT WHAT IF Yoda was talking about the real Leia Skywalker that they had hidden?
In Episode 5, Luke and Leia make out. Once the audience learns that they are siblings, this becomes gross incest. If Leia Organa was not a real skywalker, all of a sudden the incest kiss is fixed and isnt gross, wouldn't that be sweet?
In Episode 6, Obi-wan's force ghost tells Luke that he has a sister, and that he had hidden/separated Luke and Leia so that their Identity could "remain anonymous" and Luke says "Leia, Leia is my sister" and Obi-Wan says "Your feelings serve you well" . WHAT IF Luke gained understanding at that moment that there were 2 Leias, his sister, and the decoy Leia Organa, and went along with the plan?
On Endor, Luke tells Leia Organa this "The force is strong in my family. I have it. My father has it. My sister has it. You have that power too." And Leia says "Somehow I always knew" ...I'll admit, this moment goes against my theory, but perhaps Luke used a mind trick to have Leia Organa believe that she was his sister, that way she could be a bigger part of the decoy plan now. And maybe when Luke said "you have that power too" , he was telling Leia that she could use the force as well, and Luke specifically separates "my sister" and "you" .
When Vader duels with Luke at the end of Episode 6, Vader finally senses that Luke has a sister. Luke gets pissed off and uses anger and the dark side to beat his Father.
Leia Organa says that she can "feel it" that Luke escapes the Death Star at the end of Episode 6, proving that she is indeed force-sensitive.
In Episode 7, Rey is introduced as a scavenger, pulled right into the heat of conflict by the force, quickly becoming an expert pilot, learning without training how to use the force, and eventually defeating Kylo Ren in battle.
When Rey finds the Skywalker Lightsaber in Maz Kanata's castle, Rey has a vision and Maz Kanata says "This lightsaber was Lukes, and his father's before him, and now, it calls to you." I think most of the audience (including myself) at this point assumed that Rey was a Skywalker, either Luke's daughter, or Leia's daughter.
BUT HOLD ON, if Rey was the daughter of Luke or Han Solo, this would be so dissapointingly predictable and lame of a big shocking reveal. It wouldnt surprise anyone. MILLIONS of dollars were put into these movies, and Episode 8 will try to match the "I am your Father" moment. It would be super lame if she was a daughter of Luke or Leia, but she is still obviously a Skywalker.
In Episode 7, when Kylo Ren is fighting Rey, and tries to force pull the Skywalker lightsaber into his hand, it flies past him and lands in Reys hands. Rey beats Kylo Ren in a duel with no former training whatsoever. This makes sense because Rey is the Real Leia Skywalker, meaning that Kylo Ren is not actually a Skywalker, which explains why that lightsaber called to Rey and not him. Rey is simply more favorable in the eyes of the force, which is why she was able to beat Kylo Ren.
Kylo Ren wants so desperately to follow in his Vader's footsteps. Over the course of Episode 7, he slowly realizes that Rey is the real Leia Skywalker, and that he is not actually Vader's grandson like he had hoped. This would explain his increasing temper and craziness.
Rey being Leia Skywalker would create significance to the relationship that will be built between her and Luke in Episode 8. Brother and Sister.
Okay, I know what you're thinking: "Rey is like 35 years younger than Luke how could this possibly work?"
Well, first off, this is Star Wars, not real life. Im sure Carbon Freezing is a part of this universe. What makes more sense to me though, is at the beginning of Episode 7 when it shows Rey's makeshift home, and she tally's another day on to a giant wall of tally marks. We dont know how large that wall is, and how many years she has actually been on Jakku. Rey loads up a container with a "portion" , which was the food the slavers on Jakku payed to their workers. Jakku is a scarce in population density, and they need workers to be as efficient as possible. Perhaps the food they give to their workers increases their life span, thus making their workers much more efficient. It even shows an older lady working next to Rey, that is obviously working slower than Rey is. This would explain why Rey is still so young.
Im personally of the opinion that she is not a Skywalker. Im not saying she can't be a Skywalker , but I am saying any 'proof' in this video can easily be explained away. Using Rey's three buns as evidence is reaching way to much. Also auditions for Rey was open to ALL races. And I am white, slim and a brunette. So was Jyn. So... yeah, that's really not evidence. 'It is you' could easily mean she's who Snoke was talking about when he said to Kylo there's been an awakening. Ben is a Skywalker. Luke is a Skywalker. Leia is a Skywalker. That's enough for this saga. These movies will probably bring closure to the Skywalker story, but they will probably be about Ben's redemption and leave open ends to lead-in to Episodes 10-12...familiarity will be needed, so that leaves either Rey or Ben to move the story of the Star Wars galaxy along. And in that light, it would have more meaning for me personally if Rey redeemed Ben but was NOT a Skywalker. If she redeems him and is a Skywalker...something about that is douche-chill-inducing-predictable and boring.

I always found the Jedi order to be very legalistic, very rigid, those who followed the letter of the Whills but not the spirit. I like to think that the original Jedi were grey jedi who "chose" the light over the dark. The balance comes from choice, not dogmatic adherence to a rule or absolute supremacy of the light over the dark. They had families and became stronger and wiser in the force due to successfully overcoming the temptations of the dark side. This type of change in the lore also opens the drama up to far more interesting stories of grey force users who follow the light confronting force users who follow the dark or worse the re-emergence of the Sith. It's possible the Jedi Knights were a reaction to the Sith and over time they became like the Sith in their own dogma. Hence Luke's declaration that the Jedi as they were, must end.
I'd say she's a relative of Ben kenobi....or a clone of Vader or Luke....or maybe just maybe Luke will utter the iconic phrase"I am your father"

She is either Luke's daughter or Leah's daughter, therefore a Solo or a Skywalker, but either way, she is the granddaughter of Anakin. Either the reveal will be how Han Solo didn't know about Rey or about Luke's wife (Rey's mother). Luke seems like too big of a dork to ever have a wife, so I think Rey is Leah's daughter and Kylo's sister.
The 'It is you', could be explained away as Rey is the awakening in the Force that Snoke mentioned to Kylo earlier in the film. Rey is most certainly either a Skywalker or a Kenobi. But it is a continuation of the Skywalker saga either way as by Rian Johnson's own admission the Last Jedi is Luke's story. Rey may be the main character but the story is about Luke.

I watched the original trilogy, when it was released, and intepreted it as the story of 2 droids and the people they met along their story (of course back then i also thought Vader was an evil droid and so were all the stormtroopers... well i was like 7 or 8 at the time)
When the prequels came out,i watched these with the same view, its the story of 2 droids and the people they help and save, and end up helping with along the way.
TFA was the first movie ive watched without thinking its the story of 2 droids, and thats only because it took more than half the film beofre we saw either droid

Rey is the real Leia. It's the only explanation for why there is such a huge gap in force sensitivity between original Leia and Luke.

As much as people talk about Rey I can't help but get the feeling that Ben is the real hero of the new trilogy. It's like when they advertised Finn with a light saber on posters and trailers people believed he was the Jedi in the movie but it was Rey who was the real force user. They keep on presenting Rey for TLJ as the hero but Kylo is definitely the one with more layers to his character, much like his Grandpa Vader. I want to see Rey and Kylo fight together! Light accepting Dark and Dark accepting light lol

After Mace survived his fall from Palpatine's window he uses the force in the form of force crush which his anger allowed him to tap into and crushed the heads of a few clone troopers who were at the bottom casually talking with each other until their surprise death. He puts on the aromor of a clone trooper to disguise himself even though he had a missing hand which he explained using the jedi mind trick that a jedi had cut it off in a fit of anger. Then a medical droid builds him a mechanical hand and he then put on a clone trooper glove and joined a group of troopers that headed for a transport to Mustafar to set up a command post. He finds that these troopers had a collection of light sabors from fallen jedi who were killed at the Jedi temple, he hides one of them inside a weopons pack and waited until he could break away from the other troopers. After the ship laded behind Darth sidious' ship, he takes the opportunity to steal the ship and escape. He makes it to Yavin 4 and takes an escape pod after he set the onboard computer to continue on until it runs out of fuel. His escape pod crashes to the surface of Yavin 4 and Mace Windu goes into the woods where he hid out from the empire. A few years later an empire prison shuttle crashes on Yavin 4 and it stranded a group of prisoners and a couple clone troopers. One of the clone troopers ended up mating with a Chis female prisoner and has a highly force sensitive son and, due to his inherited accelerated, he was a young boy about five years old within two years. The boy was named Castrian and one day he got lost in the woods where Mace Windu found him and kept him hidden from his family. He took the boy as a padawan and soon an imperial ship comes and picks up the survivors of the prison shuttle and the two surviving clone troopers rejoin the other troopers and takes the recaptured prisoners to their former destination. Mace and Castrian became very close like a father and son and he trains Castrian to be a jedi like himself. Then when Castrian was approximately 25 he and Master Mace Windu take the now repaired prison shuttle on to Tatooeen where they stay until Luke Skywalker is of age and Mace and Kenobi agree that they go on separate missions against the Empire. While Kenobi takes Luke on their mission Mace and Castrian board another trader ship and go to another group of rebels to help them on their missions.

Ever since Rey's name was announced I've been certain it will turn out to be short for - or refer to - Naberrie, in homage to Amidala. Rey is sooooo a Skywalker... although I think we'll learn she is Skywalker "created" rather than birthed. ;)

Evidence that Rey is a Kenobi
1)It would make perfect business sense for Rey to be a Kenobi because they could launch an Obi Wan anthology film off the back of it to explain how and why he has a child etc and what he was doing on Tatooine before episode IV
2)The host of Star Wars celebration has said that he has inside info that Obi Wan will be appearing in Episode VIII and IX (probably as a force ghost) and he believes that Obi Wan has a family connection to Rey.
3)Disney isn't just going to abandon the Kenobi's after spending 4 billion on a franchise that made Kenobi a household name
4)Both Obi Wan and Rey have English accents and this is no accident because John Boyega also has an English accent but was asked to speak in an American one whereas Lucas film specifically asked Daisy to accentuate her English accent.May i also add that Luke,Anakin,Leia and Padme all have American accents not English.Rey most likely gained her accent from her parents because when left on Jakku she was already old enough to speak and already had an English accent (as we saw in her force vision)

I believe both Fin and Rey are children of Luke's students that Kilo killed. I believe that Kilo took Fin and Luke took Rey and Luke took the millennium falcon to Jakku. I believe that the Lor san Tekka was left there by Luke to watch over Rey that is why he had info on where Luke was. I believe Fin is also a child from the students because you notice at the beginning of force awakens that Kilo looks directly at Fin and pauses as if he knows something. Also when Fin helps Poe escape Kilo new who helped without being told and is extremely upset at his betrayal towards the end of the movie.
The Bloodline novel shows that Kylo switched sides less than six years before TFA. Rey was left on Jakku more than 10 years earlier and Finn was a stormtrooper ever since he was a baby, (over 20 years ago)

The story should go that luke was away from the jedi temple when kylo ren attacked it and mara jade fought off kylo and the knights of ren so that her daughter could escape.
