- This video will try to answer all of our big questions for the new Star Wars trilogy by simply answer one question: who is Snoke?

Thor Skywalker: 12:08 "There's no way she's a random nobody"
Rian Johnson: Disney hold my beer
Rey = Force baby
JJ: Rian hold my beer
I'm from the future and I'm here to tell you (in March 2017) the following: Snoke is dead and has no backstory. Rey is alive and has no backstory. Knights of Ren aren't mentioned. Yeah that's right. We learn two things: jack and shit
What's that??? I'm hearing a voice and it's telling me... my heart will be broken in December of 2017!! NO!!
From a certain point of view
Thanks for the info guy from the future.
You didnt mention episode 9 or solo movie.
Im guessing they cancelled them or Walt got defrosted and sacked the stupid bitch.
Let's just say that I figured I gave you enough bad news.
And Jack left town.
Who's watching after the last Jedi and realizing none of this is true and there was no explanation of snoke and Rey's origins
Sean Michael me
I think the funniest thing about watching these "old" videos, is not that the theories are wrong, it's that the answers everyone was guessing at never came at all. Who is Snoke? - nope. Rey's parents? mmmm..., Knights of Ren? never mentioned.
lol Knights of Ren, who the fuck are they. xD hahahahahahahahahaha fuck you Rian Johnson
I'll just insert these answers into The Last Jedi in my head, so I don't feel so let down.
Sean Michael deception, manipulation. One movie to go to show how snoke deceived both Kylo and Rey by projecting the false memories of deadbeat parents who abondoned her. The ultimate Jedi Mind trick. It is quite possible that Snoke knew she was one of those wacky immaculate conceptions of the force, as was Anakin in the phantom menace, so his deception is to make her think she is nothing, not wanted, not loved, so that her mind is clouded with so much confusion, self doubt, sadness, and anger that she is more receptive to his wishes for her to join with Kylo, and at the same time keep her from realising her true power, which if properly focused with a clear mind, is a direct threat to Snoke's plans, which his "death" is an important part. Like Snoke's death leading to the next phase of his life , so to did Luke sense what snoke did and he followed him into that next stage of life after the physical realm.
One thing that is clear from Snoke's injuries... he fought against someone who had the higher ground.
Too soon, mate.
👌
Booze Hound lol 😆 u just won the internet 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
"This is not going to go the way you think", Luke said, before he gave Snoke a new look at the academy
Maybe one of the Ones.
Man this is all kinda hilarious now that Last Jedi came out.
Yeah man tell me about it...Snoke didn't even make it half way thru the movie!! Annnd we now have Palpatine is back!?!?? What the Galatic f#@k!!!???
Laughs in rise of skywalker
it's awesome that the movie literally had not answered a single one of the relevant questions or just crapped all over them.
Just what we wanted! Glad we got subverted and disappointed at every turn.. smh..
Rian Johnson thought it would be a cool prank. In a FUCKING chained movie
I've seen the movie - and I won't spoil anything, I will only say that this is a great theory, and goes to show that fans are more creative than Disney. Great video!
Snoke has two parts in this film
Mr Awesome I see what you did there
oh nooo hahahaha
He split kinda early I thought
Mr Awesome If they had made this backstory and have had kylo ren KILL snoke either way...than it would have been perfect. Not only would snoke be the last remnant of the sith...but snoke would be the perfect summary of kylo rens "let the past die" monolgue.
I think his hands got cut off too, so maybe 4 parts?
I... man, watching this now for the first time... breaks my heart. All of these things would be just amazing, but now... god damn...
Love how the movie answered most questions with "Well that doesn't really matter anymore!"
they should have gotten you as the writer
i think they did. go watch 8 to see what i mean
I did and every stupid piece of jarjars mystery box was gratefully ignored. I loved that! the whole movie was to watch as a commentary on jarjars messed up mystery shit. ryan johnson just played that ball back to jarjar und said: "it is your mess. you can figure that shit out, you stupid idiot"
Philipp Niemann soo true
I completely agree, The last jeti was a mess and so many things irritated about the characters, the way some characters were killed off, the impossible tracker and stupid beeping plot!
@@philippniemann8842 I really think Rian purposely destroyed or got rid of the stupid shit that JJ gave us in TFA. Emperor 2.0, orange Yoga, Anakin's saber. There was no reason at all for any of things to have been in TFA.
The only problem with your theory is that you're taking for granted that Disney will do something that makes sense and respects the fandom, when in reality they just want to make money and sell toys to children.
I read a theory once that Rey is the new reincarnation of The Chosen one. It would really tie up a lot of these questions:
- Kylo has such an interest in Rey because she's the reincarnation of Darth Vader
- Luke is at the first Jedi temple to await the arrival of the Chosen One.
- Rey's strangely natural use of advanced force techniques can be explained away by this.
- The Lightsaber responds to her because she is the reincarnation of the one who created it
However part of the theory makes me want to vomit. It's theorized that Rey will ask Luke "Are....are you my father?" and Luke will reply "No....You are my father.". I hope that does NOT happen.
I actually would like that to happen. Luke tells Rey that she is his father, pan back over to Rey who is now actually played by James Earl Jones while the rest of the trilogy continues with the casting change-up
Portal Of Awesome that's what I was thinking. There's something really big in this one and I think it involves the sith or not the Jedi and Reys identity.
You should have wrote the last jedi
ha,ha,ha assuming the movie would answer questions.
josofo2 yup
I like your Snoke backstory. I'm going to pretend that was what they put into The Last Jedi vs what really happened.........
One theory to answer all? 1. The writers are all brain dead Disney minions.
Well it pains me to listen to this now that last jedi came out.........................where none of it happened....
P0W3RH0U53 not too late for this to happen though..
Cory Weeks yea, it’s too late.
I feel like Anakin has to tie everything up. He is the chosen one, and they can't just pull a LOLLLL nvm Rey is the chosen one now.
That's why I would like the chosen one to work like the avater cycle from the animation, that, whenever the galaxy is in chaos, the chosen one is reincarnated with his prior abilities. Wpuld explain why Rey was so overpowered.
Charles West Actually Luke is the Chosen One. Well according to Obi-Wikipedia
Bass Lightyeah
Jan David What
Luke is the chosen one, not Anakin.
Honestly, I WISH the movie went like this!😡
rzeik RZ fr
rzeik RZ and this is why people write fan fiction 👍 get writing so we can see this alternative!
Decent theory but I don't think Kylo is going to die. I am very confident that Kylo REN and REY are basically Yin and Yang. They will come together and bring Balance to the Force. The Darkness and the Light.
TheCCCKKK dude, please, don't say 'ying' and yang. Its YIN and yang. Damn...
Must of been a psychological slip, I find myself correcting others on that same thing quite often. lmao
Oooohhhh Yeeeaaahhhh...
Let's get it on.....
...I REEEEAAAAAAAAALLLLLLYYYYYY hope you’re right!
Roasted
This sounds sane. I didn't know that was possible with a theory video.
It does not. I mean, it does in a sense that it could be the case, but from a viewer it's too simple - i mean, yeah, lets make new villain THE MASTER OF EVIL who WAS THERE ALL ALONG and wants TO CONQUER THE UNIVERSE. End all that after a very murky waters of the Force Awakens, where so much was set up. It's like... i dunno... making Rei's parents leave her an actual thing and not some sort of repressed memories for her because of (see in episode 8). Could be, but does not make sense. In Force Awakens her need to return to Jaku was the ONLY irrational thing or thought that she had or did. I mean - all of her character is this strong, competent, active protagonist, who do things and not have things done to her. Even when she is captured, she escapes by herself, contrary to pretty much every other major character is SW movies, who need some form of help from someone else. And here it is - one stupid, childish reason to stay in the desert she does not like very much?
Also, new trailer practically ruins this theory anyway.
This sounds sane. I didn't know that was possible after the mess of a film Episode VII was.
How do the trailers ruin this theory? Seriously, the trailers only give away the general atmosphere of the movie, and if the teaser is to be believed, that this trilogy will aim at balance. If anything, I think this theory is more fitting than ever.
Because trailer pretty much tells us that the focus is not on Snoke - it is on Rey. It's opposite of what we got in original trilogy where the evil was menacing and mysterious. So there is really no point in making Snoke some sort of supreme evil of evil because it would only blur the picture.
As opposed to the Emperor that gets, what, twenty minutes (I'm being generous here) of screen time during the whole OT?
I never expected the focus to be on Snoke and the trailer didn't change that. Of course the focus is on Rey, she's a protagonist. Snoke's backstory and motivations will develop from his interactions with Rey and Kylo.
And Snoke is even more mysterious than the Emperor, tbh. Palpatine's goals were very straightforward, he wanted power. Snoke...We can assume it's power as well, but we don't know for sure yet.
so no darth jar jar! well fuck im out lol
u crack me up
Scott Sanderson, I agree.
Scott Sanderson HAHAHAH...ahhh shit if only
Jar Jar is the key to all of this.
Snoke=Valkorion
One of Snoke’s other weaknesses is being cut in half by Ben with anakin’s lightsaber
This is easily the best theory out here. All this Rey Skywalker/Palpatine theories are silly. This makes the ABSOLUTE most sense.
The Rayvolution no it doesnt.
The Palpatine theory makes sense to me personally. I don't think she is a Skywalker at all.
Cosmo Kramer explain why
She also can't be a Kenobi because obi-won needed to be in his seventy but in the last hope obi-won was only 56
H
Rey wasn't born on jaku...someone took her there and left her with plot. Do you rly think it's a coincidence that the millennium falcon was there ?
The Falcon being on Jakku is likely just a plot device to get her to meet Han. I really do think it's just that simple.
FiftyV7 when Han meets Rey it is explained how Unkar Plutt got the falcon. Also in Reys flashback there's a small transport ship that her family left on
I recall the ship leaving in a flashback but we do not KNOW that it is her family. I also don't recall them explaining much about the falcon when rey meets Han...if I remember correctly Han has been looking for MF and was surprised that it ended up on Jaku. In any event...IN the above video he says that she was born on Jaku - I was just pointing out that it was not the case and that no matter how the MF got there it seems an odd coincidence, no?
Fifty - it seemed quite obvious that it was her family in the transport. Not only was she distressed at it leaving but she talks about them coming back for her. They can't come back if they weren't the ones that left her there in the first place.
The MF ended up there after exchanging a few hands. I think it being there as a plot device makes the most sense.
+FifthyV7 and Thor Skywalker Falcon is on Jakku because Han lost it and it was gambled away to it new owner named Unkar Plutt
So much better than what actually happened.
I've figured out a big piece of the puzzle. Luke finds out, possibly at a temple (the tree) and possibly while training Ben that it was all a sham. The religious like teachings of the Jedi are WHY they failed before and continue to. It's incompatible with life and in fact is just wrong in many ways. Everything the Jedi taught in the prequels was a big contributing factor to the downfall of Anakin. Well this breaks Luke. And you can imagine it would because he dedicated the later half of his life to this. He's crushed. Ben also finds this out, and possibly around the same time finds out about his grandfather. And one of those two things is the straw that broke the camels back. Everything he has been dedicating his life to, and everything he's been taught by Luke is flawed. And then Snoke comes along perfectly timed, and catches Ben when he's at his most vulnerable and teaches him about the dark side. And the dark side as he learns, is no sham. Because you see, the only reason why Vader failed was because of sentimentality, had he struck his son down the empire wins. Had the father killed the son the empire wins (literally a line in TFA novel that I think is explored in TLJ ). They didn't fail because of a terribly flawed belief system. In fact, the dark side teachings have much less flaws when it comes to practicality and success and being able to be in touch with your human side than the Jedi teachings do. They just need to be adhered by instead of backing down like Vader did at the last moment. This is the answer to why Luke goes in searching of more answers because he knows in his heart that there is truth in the light side (so many religious parallels) the morality of the light side is the truth it was just twisted by the Jedi council and warped into something never meant to be and terribly flawed. Luke in essence, in a way is going to have to write the New Testament. Not that the New Testament is the holy grail of life but you get the point. The Jedi code needs to be updated. He is going to have to convince Rey of what he couldn't convince Ben of, that the path of the Jedi although has a bad history - ultimately is good in its most purest form. Essentially the codes that we live by today in western society like thou shall not kill and all of the stuff we take for granted in the west as just being part of our moral compass. Ben however was convinced by Snoke that the only problem that the Sith had was a failure to follow through - everything was there for the taking in a way they succeeded if not for Vaders one failure. I have a lot more, but this to me finds a way to make the prequels relevant without having to go further than that. It actually improves the prequels. TFA was great at putting in a little meta commentary almost like the SW universe was living on in a way that the fans looked at it over the last 30 years, Kylo Ren is a fan in a way. And you can add a little meta commentary with the prequels this way by accepting their "failure" as essential to the story without shitting on them. It doesn't have to go any further than that. And it actually improves the OT as well with Vaders decision resonating through history and we would really get a peek into Yodas mind why he's in seclusion and sad and almost ashamed but still hopeful.
By the way we also heard that "Luke finds out a terrible truth" and also something about a "burning tree" from making Star Wars, so this totally falls in line with this. The burning tree could absolutely be Kylo Ren rejecting Lukes teachings and a final FU before turning on him.
Steve Js nice theory... started out kinda like what PJ Crabs wrote, but u def took it a step further. I agree that Luke will find out something that kinda proves how flawed the Jedi are... but u left one thing out---the mistakes/flaws of the old jedi, will lead to what Snoke fears most; "the NEW Jedi".... which to me, with the flawed Jedi theory, and this whole battle of balance, AND the reference to the grey, is indeed THE GREY JEDI. The truly powerful Jedi will be the one that can control the light and dark within THEMSELVES, not in the world.
Misterr Serch yea I can totally see that being sort of the outcome or part of the conclusion that Luke comes to. I don't think he will reference the literal term "grey Jedi" but I think that would be the simple explanation of it.
Steve Js yeah, possibly...i think grey Jedi might come up, but they won't be called that directly per say... but I think it was in the books, where they said (and I'm paraphrasing big time here) something along the lines of "hail the light, the dark, and the grey"
Misterr Serch yea I would imagine it will afterwards officially be labeled Grey Jedi just not necessarily in the moment/movie
You should have been the one making Star Wars trilogy. It's far better than RJ's Last Jedi.
I think a lot of people would have preferred it if this is how Star Wars 8 went...
Sam Hill yeah honestly it would’ve been awesome
Sam Hill agreed
Yah I wish, we got nothing from 8 lol
First of all, this is the best SW Theory video i've seen bc you actually use LOGIC and don't just assume random and unlikely facts and also look at the story from a realistic standpoint. I agree with the Snoke answer, though I think the hate and trauma he experienced inside the prison may have made him extremely powerful, I think he was most likely on par with Sidious but due to the prison grew in the dark side. The Knights of Ren is very simple as you said and I think you got 100% there. Also the Luke answer where he searches for the first Jedi Temple makes a lot of sense. I mostly agree with what you say but the reason I think he knows who Rey is is that when Snoke first ''arrived'' the Jedi were losing and suddenly a boy/girl arrived and defeated and imprisoned him. That is why Kylo Ren knows who Rey is because she is that girl... not THE same girl just plays the same role. I think we won't ever know her past and I think you are right when you say she picks up the Skywalker mantle. Kylo knows the story because Snoke told him and the Knights of Ren. Rey is most likely a child of the force like Anakin but we won't ever know it. I do however think that Snoke wants to posess Kylo and then just before the ritual or whatever is finished Kylo remembers what his father said an realises his mistakes. Snoke is angered and Kylo escapes to Luke and Rey. That is where Rey and him build up a relationship and I don't think a romantic one because the 21st century image of a powerful and independant woman will be ruined if she loses all her independance because of being basically dependant Kylo Ren. They will most probably have a older brother/younger sister relationship and Luke and Kylo will reconcile. I think it will be a Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies situation where the Skywalker lineage will be wiped out. I think Snoke will posess Rey because of her power and she will kill Luke (unknowingly) and then battle Kylo but will reject Snoke and before Snoke kills Rey, Kylo will sacrifice himself and literally release all of his force powers on Snoke and will kill himself in the process. The trilogy will end with Rey seeing Finn again and she takes up the skywalker name. I do think though that because of marketing reasons she will be a skywalker but it is never revealed that she is just a child of the force.
I love all of your thoughts here, good stuff. I especially like the idea that Kylo knows who Rey is because he believes she is the girl (or in some way the reincarnation of the girl) that originally defeated Snoke. I also think you're right on the money that if Rey ends up falling in love with Kylo, it will destroy that independent woman image they're going for.
Luc Van der veen This idea that Rey loving a dude ruins her independent image is just really problematic and absurd. The fact that she could love, protect and redeem someone who has strayed from the righteous path is not at all the mark of a dependant or weak person. It would be a mirror parallel to how Anakin's love for Padme drove him to darkness, in that Kylo Ren's compassion for Rey will push him to the Light. It makes total sense in the narrative and everything about SW being a story of love and forgiveness. Rey loving Ben and wanting to help and uplift him after his whole life has been manipulated, instead of him just being this guy she has to fight and defeat because he's the bad guy; Rey challenging the way he thinks, illuminating those good parts of him that he's trying to hide and impacting him to a point where he will change. A woman that can do that, that right there is a STRONG woman, lads. Not the opposite.
B Rite im not saying its right just that that is what the world sees as independent and strong so i think that to appeal to a larger audience they will rather take that route
Luc Van der veen I agree with you that this is the common view and was dismantling the idea because I see it being propagated everywhere. If she suddenly becomes a poorly-developed damsel-in-distress because of her lady-boner for the guy, which I've seen in many stories, then of course, I see the source of the concern and fully agree that this pairing should never happen. But if they make it so that she's a source of strength to him and vice versa, and love being a catalyst to his redemption, then why not? People are so quick to draw their pitchforks without thinking about how this could pan out in a dignified way. I trust that Disney doesn't see relationships in such a one-dimensional way.
100% agree
One of the best Theory videos I've seen in a long time. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. If I had 4 thumbs I would give this video 4 thumbs up.
You should do a recap of this video now that Last Jedi has come out to see where you go it right and wrong and predict the next step
The exploring photographer - Jacques le Roux agreed
rey is mace windu LOL
LOOMYNARTY COMFIRMED!!!111!!ONE
DanielBo seems legit
No,no. Rey is Yoda
This by far is the best theory.
A theory that when listened to doesn't sound like some psycho made it up
By the way, I totally agree with you that even if they are related, there has to be a strong emotional connection between them beyond that. Merely being related isn't enough; there has to be more to it.
Couldn't agree more. If they are related that'll be fine... but you still have to give them a reason to care about each other beyond just that.
Alex Knauth she could empathize for her cousin/brother just as much as she could a guy she wants to be romantically involved with. I actually find that more believable than her falling for Kylo from learning his story.
I think people are putting to much stock in Snoke meaning he's not as powerful as people are assuming especially since he's scared as hell of Luke Skywalker
He's scared of Luke coming back and training new Jedi... because it was the Jedi who originally defeated him. He doesn't seem overall frightened of Luke himself, just what he could start again....
I think it could go either way. Snoke being scared of either Luke himself or the possible new Jedi he could train makes me more inclined to believe that Snoke isn't necessarily more powerful than Palpatine. I think it makes more sense for him to be less powerful with with the raw force ability, but more cautious, more experience-filled, and more of a thinking villain. He would want the most powerful people under him because they will be the "enforcers." But whether he's more powerful than Palpatine or not, they will obey him because they recognize that they are better off under him than they would otherwise.
For this I think Hux's line "I take full responsibility" and Snoke's response to it are the most important for this. Hux trusts Snoke that much because he knows Snoke is not the kind of leader who punishes underlings unnecessarily. In other words, Snoke is the opposite of Vader's "You have failed me for the last time" and the opposite of Kylo's tantrums.
Anthony Divon ... I think with an ongoing (2015-1983 or 32+ year) war post-Vader and Emperor Palpatine going on with the remaining Commanders and Generals of Palpatine keeping the Rebels, under General Leia, to continue to fight!? police, especially including her son's actions!? from being at peace stability -- Snoke is just there as another mysterious Sith (? or Sith studying) character trying to build power as an entity to be against the Rebels restoration if the SW Galactic planetary systems! There are underlying different economic systems that several planets and leaders in the SW universe that will be effected if the SW were to return to pre-war economics (pre-Amadala and Naboo EP I war)!
Just like Sauron is scared of Aragorn, what he could become, not because he is more powerful than him
Anthony Divon Luke is the most powerful Jedi in history. George Lucas' own words.
So, errr... Snoke died....
What if Snoke was just a normal dark side user but then was imprisoned and severely tortured for thousands of years, then was rescued after Palpatine's death by the newly formed first Order (This would grow his dark side power a lot and be like a beacon across the galaxy for the Sith)
That's an awesome theory. He may have just been a more or less average dark side user, but thousands of years of being imprisoned took his anger and hate to new levels, and thus made him very strong with the dark side. I like it a lot.
Your theory is the best. Snoke is the first individual to use the dark side. He might have discovered it through his anger, and thought that the force and the universe as a whole was just a manifestation of will, passion, drive and power. In order to fulfill ones potential in this existence, one would have to connect with the hidden and pure reality behind everything, the force.
So Snoke would start an order of individuals who acquired power through their connection with this pure essence of existence, the force, by use of their passion, will of power and drives. But Snoke made a mistake, the thought that the true reality of the force was this drive, this passion, but other individuals discovered that it was through inner calm, peace and tranquility that one truly connected with this pure reality beyond time and space, the true nature of the force was peace, not passion.
This individuals started and order, the Jedi, and they understood that this passion and energy was just a secondary manifestation that comes in moments of self defense, but that the force in it's purest state was peace and inner calm. They called this peace the Ashla, or the light side of the force, and at the same time they called the will driven force the Bogan, or the dark side of the force. For them, the bogan was not evil, it was just a manifestation of that peace in moments of danger, the problem with Snoke and his order of Sith was that they became addicted to the dark side of the force.
The Jedi defeat Snoke, they lock him on the ice planet and move on. The Jedi eventually discover that the use of the dark side is no longer necessary, and decide to just contemplate and connect with the light, the true and pure essence of the force. The problem with this is that some individuals, the Sith more specifically, kept coming form time to time, and the Jedi had to keep them at bay.
This old Jedi had discovered the truth of the force thanks to some mysterious entities called the force priestesses. The hierarchy of this old order of Jedi was Palawan, knight, master and sage. This last rank was only obtained in old age, and consisted in the Jedi going to the force planet and learning form the priestesses themselves (which are the force itself individualized) to learn of the pure and true nature of the Ashland and bogan, and master the force. With this, they also obtained the ability to manifest themselves after death an continue teaching future generations.
For some reason, this old Jedi order was forgotten and the Jedi eventually just studied the ashlar, limiting their scope and knowledge of the force. The first Jedi after millennia to rediscover the old teachings was a Jedi called Qui Gon Jin, that understood that the true nature of the Ashla was the living force experienced in the present moment and that the bogan was not inherently bad, just another aspect of the force. The other two Jedis of this era to return to the original teachings were Obi Wan and Yoda, by training with the force priestesses as the old Jedi did.
Ricard de Virgo f
Here's a random idea. Anakin and Rey are incarnations of the force (much like the mysterious entities you speak of) that are sent when the dark side takes over completely. I mean Anakin contributed to the fall of the Jedi but it probably would've happened without him anyways and also contributes to the fall of the Sith (Death of Palpetine and the birth of Luke). I feel like Rey will do the same, killing off the Jedi and the Sith, only to let them rise again as equals. They're like an automatic culling mechanism.
Framing Kylo as a character who is being exploited by Snoke, and the final showdown as a fight to free him from Snoke's grasp, provides a sort of thematic mirroring of Finn, exploited as a child soldier, gaining his own freedom. It would give the trilogy a nice fight exploitation message. However, this is still pretty much the story of Vader being corrupted by Sidious.
Easily the most plausible theory on the net. Really well done, dude! Thanks!
Thank you.
Still sucks tho._.
yes a story and i call it know it wont be near that because the sotry is compelt shit
Dominik Ffdfgg just like your spelling skills?
Many of the theories overlook that these are 2 hour movies made for a general viewing pubic. It may not be the most interesting narrative for die-hard SW fans but it is very commercially viable and with enough twists and turns and drama to make for enjoyable viewing.
Thanks for posting this. It's great. I do know though, that if you are right about Snoke's motives concerning Ben...I become all the more hopeful that Ben will be saved instead of destroyed/killed.
I think it would be good to mix Luke telling Rey about Ben and Snoke with some parts of Rey actually seeing (through the Force) what Ben went through and is going through, particularly if Snoke becomes angry and tortures Ben because he can sense that Ben regrets killing his father and that Ben still carries compassion for Rey. Don't just let Luke sit there and talk about something. Show it a bit. Let us see it. Especially if Ben endures punishment and torture for Rey's sake. If she knew it was for her that he went through this, that might help spark the fire of her own compassion for Ben.
Excellent points. I think the rumors are somewhat true that there will be flashbacks in this movie, but they will mostly be Force visions and Rey, through them, will get to see another side of Kylo/Ben. I also think we'll get to see the flip side of things, Kylo being trained by Snoke...and it won't be pretty and it will help us the audience understand how difficult Ben's life has been, leading us down the path of forgiving him for killing Han.
J. Rossi: Yeah. Especially if it turns out they accidentally formed a force bond in the interrogation scene, that could be a good way to show it. Luke could be trying to teach Rey, but Rey's concentration could be interrupted by a vision of Ben's experiences, and she (like her vision with the saber) would be a bit afraid or rattled by it, wondering what was happening, and Luke would begin to comfort her, explaining his own experience on Degoba seeing his friends in pain, and attempting to explain who Ben was before he fell to the dark side. That could be a powerful way to show that, and it would make it more personal.
Indeed it could. I agree on that. Obviously Luke will (probably) spend time talking with Rey. He won't give her "the silent treatment" but it would be far more powerful for Rey to learn through the Force that Ben thinks of her, and that he endures much for her sake, especially if it includes punishment and torture at Snoke's hands. It's more powerful to see something rather than just to hear it.
Wow, you guys are crafting a better story here than what I trust will come from Disney, but my hopes are high. Let's pray it's good and detailed and meaty without losing the simple, mostly straightforward storytelling Star Wars is known for, but adds in those exciting and meaningful details. Rian Johnson has a pretty good reputation, and Adam Driver did make some comment recently about the story having 'ambiguous' aspects to it, or something like that, so, let's just hope it's satisfying. And to be satisfying it has to be waaaay better than the Hype (ahem, Force) Awakens.
I think you might be right about her name. I translated what was on the side of the helmet and it says: Raeh. Which of course is said as: Rey.
Dude you nailed the Rey theory
This is one of the best theory videos. I couldn't help but watch it more than once.
love your videos, one of my favourite SW UA-cam channels. These theories are cool but I'm just so excited about hearing Luke speak!
lol, I'm with you, I just want to hear Luke say something.
+Thor Skywalker in a week's time there's a good chance that we will have. I assume you've heard about the anakin incarnation theory. What are your thoughts on it? I hope it's not true (although it would make sense) because it would mean that I'd have basically had the whole thing spoiled. There was a leak for the force awakens which was pretty much all true so I am a bit worried.
Star Wars has never been afraid of ridiculous amounts of exposition or being "non-action". Phantom Menace had like 20 minutes of fighting and rest was politics.
I think you're forgetting about a 20 minute pod race too...
Jordan Lombardo I think they learned
What if... ?
"What if ... Snoke created Anakin Skywalker?"
Cool.
Darth Sidious The novel is not canon, so that is just a theory of yours...
My theory is that Anakin created Snoke when he went back to the dark side as a Force Image and turned back to the older burned out version of himself. I can not explain the hands however. Maybe you get all your body parts back when you become a Force Image...
Robert Houtsch would love that line "Luke. I am your father's.....father" aha
What you mean to say is "No, I am you father's... father" ;)
If this isn't the movie, it should be
It wasn't :/
These were great theories and basically a perfect compilation of the expectations of fans, which is why we felt so baited when Disney and Rian said "Yeah, no, we're going to forego all of that and basically rip out your involvement as fan theorists. This is our franchise now, and you are either on board or you can hit the bricks. We paid billions."
im gonna be cheesed if kylo defeats luke
You wouldn't be the only one upset by that...
Thor Skywalker maybe Luke just quits and chills the rest of his Life on Tatooine because secretly he loves Sand(thats why he was away not to search the Temple but to chill in the Sand he just pretended :o)
Luke said he would never come back to Tatooine unless he had to
JEWBUSxx If Anyone defeats Luke. Luke is supposed to be the most powerful Jedi ever, and more so if he goes grey. Bastards better not make him some self loathing monk that takes one for the team. We've been wait 40 years for the OP!
Ikr he couldn't even defeat Rey
I got a better one for ya. Snokes prison is his body, he want Luke because he wants to posses him not kill him and Ben is just his back up plan.
Not a bad theory at all.
Mike Dye why would he want to have the body of an old man?
geronimo hes the son of the chosen one
Mike Dye no
Replace Luke with Rey and I think you're on to something
I really like that you pointed out that she deserves to be her own person with her own worth, not just dependant on who she is related to.
Nah, she definitely has some sort of strong force sensitive lineage
+TheBeyondRelapse She may have force sensitive lineage but that does not have to define her.
Cam Mac You got your wish 😉 I'm totally on board with Rey not being descended from anyone. What was that idea anyway, I don't get why it was so important to people. Anakin came out of nowhere, it's not even like there's no precence for this.
I would really like your theory to be true and I strongly believe it is. I have a small theory too that can easily integrate with yours. I've never read the books and the comics, so I hope there are no discrepancy with those.
Luke, felt the presence of Snoke trough the Force, starts exploring other way of the Force, in order to defeat this greater threat he came across. In order to achieve this, he starts training children. One of his padawan is Kylo, who is very talented and the one Luke trust the most. This leads Luke to reveal Kylo the existence of Snoke but Kylo, similarly to what happened to his grandfather, is corrupted by Snoke. Luke is constantly travelling the galaxy to find new force-sensitive children and leaves the direction of his school to Kylo, who, manipulated by Snoke, kills all the others padawans and sets on fire that place we saw in the last trailer. During this events, Luke was away in search of a young girl, who he felt the presence of: Rey. Back from his travel, Luke finds his students dead and understands the betrayal of Kylo. Depressed and hopeless, he abandons Rey on Jakku (Rey was very young and can't remember this or she removed this memory because of the trauma) and go on exile, continuing his research on the Force.
I know it is quite a complex story but this would also create some tension between Rey and Luke that, filled with remorse, would not fully able to train Rey. Furthermore, it would depict Luke in a much darker and layered way. Rey origins would not be revealed because, as you stated, they are not so important.
What do you guys think, I would really appreciate some feedback.
(Edited because of grammar errors...)
Excellent theory
Alot of that have contradictions
I'm not a mega fan, but I like stories, so I'll take a crack at it. First, you need to make a timeline of the ages of the people involved, Rey and Ben, to make sure your theory makes sense chronologically. That's the first thing to square away. I think you're right that Luke would be aware of Rey, since she's so strong with the force, despite her lack of training. So it would make sense for him to seek her out. However, for him to abandon her, it couldn't just be that he was depressed, it'd have to be that he was desperately needed elsewhere, and there'd need to be a "shoot the dog" moment, where he has a hard moral choice to make and the only "right" thing to do would mean he was forced to abandon her. Like the Batman scene where he can only save Harvey or whatsername, or any number of other runaway trolley scenarios, he needs to shamefully choose to leave Rey because he's forced to in order to save something else, like maybe his school or whatever. That's not the worst idea. What's going on with Rey that Luke doesn't have the time to extract her and bring her along? That's a problem for the writers to figure out, but I'm sure could be easily contrived.
The part about Kylo killing all the padawans is just too direct a replay of Annakin doing that, which I found totally unconvincing the first time around and would cringe to see repeated. They did not devote nearly enough time to convincing us of how masterfully Palpatin seduced Annakin to the dark side. It scanned so hollow. They really need to do better making us believe that Kylo Ren was, romanticizing his grampa, totally taken in by Snoke during some sort of rebellious teen phase. Maybe, much like Luke was kept in the dark about his father, Kylo was forbidden, maybe punished, for trying to learn about Vader. And the anger and rebellion led him blah blah.
The other thing, like Luke on Dagoba had the vision of his own face in Vader's helmet, I think Rey in training ought to have a vision that shows her(and therefore us) Kylo Ren's story, so that we see how he was seduced and she develops that love and compassion for him necessary to keep the hate from her heart during their showdown.
you see lukes robo hand appear from the rubble of the fire which means he was there and went in to retrieve something or kylo tried to burn him along with the building. Just means he was there or arrived when the padaones where cut down.
Excellent theory, but if that’s happened I’d like to think Luke would take her up as his sole apprentice until the time is right to conquer the first order, or until more students are found to re-build the organization
I think her adopting the name Skywalker instead of being one by blood would also further Kylo's hatred toward her because of her impurity in his eyes
That would be cool. After Like inevitably dies, she'll do that in his honor
Kylo doesn't hate her. In fact its canon that he feels compassion for her. See this i.imgur.com/Vpx9iHy.png from the official novelization of the film.
1). Kylo doesn't hate her...it appears that he really, *really* doesn't hate her, if you get my drift...
2). What "impurity in his eyes?" Dude thinks she's an angel. The look he gave her when she caught Luke's lightsaber - which was Obi-Wan's before it was Anakin's or Luke's, *ahem* - leaves nothing to the imagination.
3). As logically follows from items 1 and 2, there is an easier, simpler way for a girl to take the name of Skywalker...or Solo, if we want to be technical 😎
This is possibly the best star wars fan theory video I've seen to date. You quoted your sources, and in the end this isn't a video that creates unrealistic expectations in people's heads. For that, I commend you sir.
My money's on your theory being right.
I agree, it is the most logical theory
How much money did you lose?
Anakin is force Jesus.
That's literally the point of the prequels - to make Anakin the Jesus of Star Wars. Compare his story to Jesus' - his death, "resurrection", and effectively being a messiah. It's the deeper meaning!
Moosted Bonkey and virgin birth
STUNTS mace windu is force black jesus
..he died for the sins of the jedi.
Which is stupid
Anakin was faaar from similar to Jesus but they were inspired by him in a weird way. He redeemed himself even which is only possible for Jesus.
I walked out the movie like whaaaaat
Funny that,I walked out of the Cinema a bit angry for some reason,I set fire to the huge model AT-AT walker outside the Cinema complex and got arrested for bludgeoning 7 porgs to death with a fork .
I don't blame u one damn bit...i would've done the same had I paid too see that .[sugar.honey.ice.tea!!]
I like the idea of Rey becoming something more than her parentage
.. that she takes on the role for personal rather than historical or genetic reasons
I like the 'adoptive daughter' story line is the best solution .. that she is from outside what we know.
So..this is the best theory out there in my opinion. It is simple, epic, and answers all of our questions. I particularly think you are right on about Snoke's identity and the Rey/Kylo ending.
The hope, the optimism. You can hear that in Thor's voice... and it was all a waste.
Thank you Thor, I thought I was one of the few that thought of star wars the way you did in this video.
If you go to other theory channels everyone has such simple minded theories and their theories end in plot holes.
You're fulfilling you're destineh!
Hearing all these new info my the cast in interviews makes this the best theory I've heard. Less than 2 weeks away for the movie!
really solid stuff. Thanks for the thoughts and video. Perhaps Rey's compassion for Ben will be born out of empathy for his parents not being present in his life as he needed them. She would certainly be able to identify.
dude, so i dont watch Star Wars rebels, but in that there is an ancient temple of force users. But it takes a master and an apprentice to open it, hence ray.
Wow... you just got the wheels in my head churning. Perhaps Luke needs Rey to finally unlock the temple. That's a hell of a theory.
ya, and i was thinking that in that part in the new trailer, for 8, where we see the books fallowed by the old jedi symbol. That could be where they open the temple, and thats what they fine.
Andrew Skaines Duuuuude that's awesome! High five!
Darth Sidious That's the Sith temple on Malachor. I believe they're referring to the temple on Lothal where Kanan was officially knighted as a Jedi Knight by the Grand Inquisitor.
"Most, if not everything, will be learned in Episode VIII." - Oh how we all thought this, and oh how wrong we were.
Oh the sweet irony of you explaining what exposition meant... Twice. ;)
lol, out of all the comments this video has gotten, you're the first to finally point that out
Thor Skywalker haha, I loved the video. Just got a good chuckle out of it. ;) Keep up the good work!
We all know that Rey is Boba Fett's Daughter.
All the theories that every person had created for the last Jedi has been completely annihilated in one whim. The movie does answer some questions that some of us had and at the same time locks that answer for no more questions. BUT WAIT...THERES MORE!!!
were the sith a spin-off from the 12 Jedi that left the order ?
this guy should be the guy writing Star Wars. Writing this comment after watching The Last Jedi i spit on Disney and wish to 100% that this was they way it all should have played out. Absolutely hate the new movie 0 plotholes filled, just removed...
I think that deep down, everyone knew that The Last Jedi wasn't going to answer much, if anything at all, because it is the second movie in a trilogy. We'll all have to wait until Episode IX, where (hopefully!) some of our questions will be answered, through a deep and compelling story, not Q and A.
This is a very acceptable theory that should not be ignored. Nicely done.
Wow. This is VERY good. In my mind, its one of the leading suspects. That does resolve everything in a very nice, impactful way. I'll say this: if its NOT what ends up happening, then it is maybe a way it SHOULD've happened!

This video just makes me sad now :(
Why oh why did the fans have better ideas than LucasFilm??
Such a waste...
Thor, just went back and listened to this again after several months. What a wonderful Act II this would have been. Makes me sad to hear it after watching TLJ, which I still haven't seen a 3rd time but which, after liking it better on second viewing, I seem to like less and less as I think about it.
I hope this will be the foundation for the real episode 8 you're working on.
This is a great example of how so many assumptions, which you thought we're reasonable to have, led you down a path that resulted in a lot of speculation that had nothing to do with where the story was going.
Always your mind on the horizon, not at the need in front of your nose.
That is quite a stretch to say that the story is going anywhere. It obviously went nowhere. It literally dead ended.
Kerry Herring right, of course it did. Dead in it's tracks, no where to go. Because, what, it didn't go where you thought? Has it gone so differently from what you spent so much time thinking and fantasizing about that you truly can't imagine where it'll go? GOOD! I can't believe we've been given the chance to finally have no idea where the story is going, and fans like you see that as a BAD thing! FFS
Well the last jedi came out. U were right with the rey and kylo connection, i think u had a solid predictio with the way it should end as well with the skywalkers family dying
Your theory is so much better than the actual movie.
Oh how dissapointed i was when i watched last Jedi. .
💯 keep making more vids bro love it
God Son what if Snoke is Ben Solo traveling back in time to teach himself to finish what Anakin Skywalker started? The face wounds are consistent to the ones Ray gave Kilo Ren at the end of The Force Awakens... could it be that simple?
JMRS Office Smh Nalllll
JMRS Office he's not Barry Allen
plz, no time travel in Starwars
God Son To tie everything together would be great if she was a kenobi . Ben trained Luke, luke to train a kenobi. The apprentice has become the master full circle. ties in the connection to the lightsabre. Ben took the sabre off anakin who passed it to luke who lost it .
Who’s here in Dec. 2019??
So much better than what we got! SMH
I kind of like this theory, even though it's not true...
isn't it sad when the fans have better ideas off the top of their heads than those MAKING THE MOVIES
Absolutely brilliant. I got chills man. I like the idea of Rey choosing the skywalker name because luke becomes a father figure. Just like anakin, she came out of nowhere and becomes an amazing force user. Excellent.
this is a great theory and all, but here's my interpretation. Early on Snoke was neither Jedi nor Sith, he neither embodied the light or dark. But when he was attacked by ancient Jedi and badly wounded his being manifested into two sides the: light and dark causing the great conflicts between the Jedi and Sith. This also caused the balance in the force to become broken. Eventually, as his body began to reform. And his two sides found there hosts in Rey and Kylo. Snoke eventually discovered Kylo and sensed his dark side manifestation inside him, but cannot regain the dark because Kylo still has some conflict left. Rey on the other hand was placed on Jakuu because as he said in the video, Jakuu had a great light force flowing from it. So when Snoke tries to sense Rey's light force he senses Jakuu still emanating with the light side as usual. Nothing There. This is why Snoke cant find Rey because she is in the one place he would not expect.Because all he wants to do is reunite his Dark and Light side force in Rey and Kylo and obliterate all life, hence balancing the force at the cost of every living thing. In the last Jedi during there dual both will begin to truly understand Snokes intentions and flee the throne room. They will both come to finally understand each other. Between the Last Jedi and Episode Nine Rey and Kylo will probably have a child and hide Him and themselves from Snoke as he searched for them. By the Time there kid is a Teen and able to carry on there teachings should they fail. They then set themselves up and fight Snoke killing Him and themselves since they are his manifestations. This would then end the conflict between the Light and the Dark. The force would still flow through all life forms but without conflict and instead tranquility. And I know mos people will say "But know there's no conflict and no more movies!" False: Rey and Kylo's biggest mistake would be there own son. Since he carries both sides within him eventually conflict would spring from his family and the never ending war between Dark and Light would ensue into the Next Trilogy. TaDaa! It's Simple Snoke is the Key!!!! LOL
You are so wrong it's sad
Could be a possibility but i believe ur a bit of
It kinda pains me u wrote all of this out.. (with it being wrong) I prefer ur theory to what we actually got tho 😊
buy this guy an ice cream cone.....with sprinkles.
THIS THE BEST STARWARS FAN THEORY VIDEO OUT THERE. WELL DONE. THE SNOKE IDEA, I BELIEVE IS RIGHT ON. LIVE LONG AND- - - - I MEAN MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.
Me travelling back in time to 2017....
"SHE'S THE EMPEROR'S GRANDDAUGHER. PALPATINE RETURNS IN THE OPENING CRAWL OF EPISODE IX. SNOKE IS JUST HIS 'MEAT PUPPET'. HE HAS NO REAL BACK-STORY. LUKE HAS NO WIFE OR KIDS AND DIES OF A FORCE HEART-ATTACK WITHOUT EVEN LEAVING AHCH-TO. THE KNIGHTS OF REN ARE 'GHOULS' - THT'S ALL WE'RE TOLD ABOUT THEM."
I have a Snoke theory: Avaloth's (from legends) cannon counterpart is indeed Snoke!
I think there could be elements of that in the Snoke story... or it is a new cannon interpretation of it.
I was kind of thinking that about Abaloth. Also don't forget Darth Bane body swapped with Zannah. As far as new canon goes I haven't seen anyone talking about this "egg" that the church of the force protecting. Lor San Tekka spent two years with them maybe Rey came from that mystical egg? Seems kind of silly but the egg thing IS new canon.
This is the most sound theory I have heard yet. Good work
I'm right there with you until Rey's parents... simple is Papa Luke (although you did say she might be Luke's daughter)
And your forgot one... Benecio Del Toro. Ezra. Trained by Luke, finally a full Jedi... Ben was his padawan. They found... something... on Jakku. A mission that Luke sent them on. Probably involved the junk dealer we see Rey with (see why soon). On Jakku, in that ruined base the Empire blew up rather than let the Rebels take... there was a breadcrumb trail that led Ezra and Ben to Snoke. Ben returns and slaughters the padawans as per Rey's vision. There is still light in him... he can't bring himself to kill his cousin. So he uses the power he has to mess with minds to cloud her memory and leaves her on Jakku, with the junk dealer. He feels guilt over his failure to kill her, hence the lessons on sentiment from Snoke. Ezra and Ben are under Snoke's sway. Luke unleashed Snoke. He sent them on that mission. He opened pandora's box, all his padawans were killed... his best students fallen to the darkside... he has failed... utterly. and withdraws to the first temple, hoping to meditate, to study, to atone, and find out what the ancient Jedi knew of Snoke... he feels something stirring in the Force, and up walking the steps is his long lost daughter, holding his father's lightsaber.
I also suspect we are going to see glowy blue Anakin a fair bit too... I somehow suspect that Anakin, in some small way, as a force ghost, is _still_ fulfilling the prophecy of bringing balance to the force... killing the Emperor wasn't enough... there was.... something out there... Vader would know the Emperor was looking for something. It could have been forceghost Anakin that started the idea of looking into the destroyed Imperial base on Jakku. This could even have created a wedge with Luke... Luke questioning his motives... was it Anakin that sent us looking on Jakku? Or Vader? (see concept art of force ghost Anakin morphing and shifting between Vader and Anakin. He could have been pushing Luke to look into it... 'no, the prophecy is not fulfilled... there is something still out there... we MUST find it' (Anakin always was a bit brash right?) This then sets up conflict with Luke. This also closes 'the chosen one' loophole, Anakin is still the Chosen One if he precipitated or provoked the final battle with the darkside from beyond the grave. And it also gives reason to concept art we've seen and 'Hayden is back as Anakin' rumors that have long been circulating. I'm even betting Ewan MacGregor has a secret role in Ep VIII he won't admit to as well... they are there with Luke on Ach-to... in a way.
That is how I would fill in those blanks gunning for, like you, a 'one thing leads to another' and simple explanation. We're pretty close, I'm just tying in Benecio and Anakin/Vader, and going with the Papa Luke theory for simplicity.
The canon novel Bloodline contradicts this because 23 yr old Ben Solo was still with Luke and hasn't turned into Kylo Ren yet. This novel is set 6 yrs before The Force Awakens, so Kylo has only been a darksider for 6 yrs and no mention at all of a cousin or sibling by Leia or any other character.
Security? She was given to a leering blobfish. Not really like Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen, or like the Organa Royal family.
Yes I believe Rey was sent away from Luke as a security caution Like Leia and Luke, then when Klyo Ren turned bad, he killed everyone including Luke's wife and all of his students. Luke was the only one able to survive, then wanting to stop Snoke from using Kylo, he went in search the first Jedi temple to see what happened to Snoke the before. he didn't take Rey cause she would've been young and he had no interest in dragging her into this. he left a map with BB8 and R2 knowing it would eventually get back to rey and she could be trained by Luke himself. I also think that sometime in the next trilogy, just like obi wan watched his master die by a sith, then luke watched obi wan die by a sith, and now luke will either get killed by smoke or kylo with rey soon to defeat him.
That's a good theory, but hoe could Kylo Ren mess with Rey's memory if she is so strong with the force. Obviusly she's not week minded, so how could that happen. One more thing: If you watch the flashbacks in that Rey has, you see one were a little girl is being dragged away crying. But ion the background, you can here Kylo Ren's voice and that helmet "quiet girl". We know they are about the same age, so it couldn't have been Rey. Maybe it was a sister?
Watch that scene again and you'll find out that the one saying "Quiet girl!" is Unkar Plutt". And canon novels attest to Ben Solo turning dark only 6 years before The Force Awakens.
All that time we spent discussing who Snoke and Rey was trying to figure out theyre backstory and all we had to do was to take Rians little note as up front money - Aka "Youre Snoke (and Rey) theory sucks" (and I am about to divert as much of the story I possible can just cause I do not care about making a coherent trilogy.
Wonder what we would have thought about that knowing what we know now? Johan.
This is amazing. I suddenly have hope again for these next two movies.
Now that the movie's out, it was said that Rey IS a nobody since her parents were nobodies....But I'm convinced she's a Kenobi...what do you think?
Zahra Ahm honestly me too, she can’t be directly related because he was too old in IV. But she could be a granddaughter/great-granddaughter, which could mean that her parents we’re really “nobody”
Zahra Ahm Same... She just seems like a Kenobi. It'd make sense, to. If her mother was Obi Wan's daughter then I can really see how it would work out. I'm really mad at Ben for saying she was sold for drinking money... I definitely go with the Kenobi theory.
HollyBush 121 right!!! Like her PARENTS may be nobody important, but her grandad HAS to be Obiwan. There’s a theory going around saying Ben told Rey that in order to get her to turn. 🤔 perhaps...
So her parents being nobodies is true... from a certain point of view.
Sae Ahm
I really hope she’s a Kenobi.
Rey is a creation of Snoke in the labs of Jakku
Aye, Wreck It Ralph. We've already seen a Jedi lab creation by an insidious figure. Pardon the pun.
i think that at some point rey and ren will share some emotional conversation about how hard it is when your father buggers off early on in life.
just a thought. REN and REY , like yin and yang. kylo Ren and the nights of Ren I don't know exactly what I'm trying to say here but there's got to be something to kylo's name. Where did it come from and the REN part I think has something to do with REY. I'm brainstorming here bear with me but there's something to these names making REY a key to the story whether or not it's really her name.
joe corsello These findings suggest a logical outcome 😎
There's going to be a blood connection. Why? Because mythology of this sort demands it.
Take away the starships and the blasters, and you have something out of Greek or Norse mythology through a Christian lens; all of the players are tied by blood, somehow. Count on Rey being tied by blood to the Skywalkers we know, even if it is removed at a degree or so (e.g. scion of another Jedi line) if this is going to work as a mythological narrative. It will fail otherwise, and not stand the test of time. Too many people making this new trilogy don't have Lucas' background in myth or pulp adventure stories and instead misunderstand what this property is about or why the Original Trilogy works. More Joseph Campbell and E.E. Smith; less of everything else.
Bradford Walker Greek and Norse mythology through a Christian lens? It's Japanese influenced.
The Jedi are Samurai.
Missing the point due to category error.
Mythology has structure because it's a narrative form. It's there for a culture to explain itself to itself, and as such there are requirements it must fulfill to execute its function. The people (Lucas) built Star Wars using Western Mythology as its basis. (Mistaking the form of a trope is the error here; that Jedi are inspired in part by Samurai is _irrelevant_. This is about narrative structure.) To remain fit for purpose, and thus able to execute its function, it _must_ conform to the same patterns as what it builds upon- like all machines (and narrative is a machine) narrative form follows function, and the function requires all major characters in a myth to be bonded by blood or a bond of similar power (emulating the natural family structure, e.g. "You were my brother, Anakin!") It will be a remarkable failure of competence for Rey to NOT have some form of familial relation.
Bradford Walker You are wrong: Star Wars is heavily Eastern in its influences.
The religion it draws its most influences from are Buddhism. Its a story of Samurai knights and about honor.
Bradford Walker Plot twist: Rey Jar Binks
So while your argument is compelling, I do believe that this theory already affirmatively resolved your issue... You argue that characters in myth are "to be bonded by blood or a bond of similar power emulating the natural family structure." This theory asserts that Luke may be like an adoptive father to Rae, thereby creating a bond of similar power emulating the natural family structure.
It's fun coming back to see all the genuine excitement for this movie and all the fun theories.....
...that was before the dark times came....
with the whills added in rogue one. i think we got a plausable good ending but the story needs to stay on a old n new together story to make an incredible experience
Edward Huffman Jr the whills could possibly be the best villains
