@blkcandywarez Empire and Jedi were thought up at more or less the same time, though Jedi went through some heavy script changes before production began. While Lucas didn't have those films thought up from the beginning like he often used to say he did, if you look at the early drafts of the original film's script, you'll see that the setting and basic plot elements for the prequels (The Jedi Order, the Sith, the Separatists, the Trade Federation, the Republic being corrupted from within) are actually there already in the opening crawl. And when he actually made them, the prequels were outlined as a trio from the beginning. Disney knew from the start that they were making three movies, but decided it was a fine idea to have no forethought or planning, even though that's precisely the secret to why the Marvel movies made them so much money. It's not the reason the sequel trilogy is bad, but it's an easy way a lot of the badness could have been prevented.
Chris Taylor I think he meant the last Jedi, I don’t like any of the sequel trilogy but I do recognize that the last Jedi tried something else. Whether the result is good or not at least the last Jedi tried unlike force awakens and the rise of skywalker which I wouldn’t say sucked but is bland.
Yeah. I was young in the early 90's (the year always represented the grade I was in). Being as young as I was, I had only seen one Star Wars movie before watching these. Who knew that the franchise would end up being my favorite of all time. These two movies were always fun to watch back then. Kids definitely loved them.
Yeah as far as I know, the Holiday Special was actually no longer canon in the 90s even before the prequels came out. George Lucas himself really hated the Holiday Special too.
The best part is, when asked about this movie in an interview, Harrison ford had a look that most would describe as "Ptsd" XD This movie scarred poor harrison's mind!

Why not? Its not like the fact that its a moon make so that it has to be like our moon... Its a moon of a Gas Giant, so it can pretty much work like a planet!
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and Battle for Endor are both cute films and it was actually nice to see something in the Star Wars universe outside the main films. They suck but hey... So did Episode I.
I remember watching the second one. As a kid I loved it! My mom recorded it off the tv on the old VHS, and I've likely watched it 10 times. No matter how bad it was, it still holds a special place for me. Keep in mind I grew up in rural Canada with only 2 channels to choose from.
Catherine tt 90's? Hahahaha!!!! Oh this is so 80's. little six and seven year old me was so excited for these two cheese fests. By the 90's the networks pretty much stopped doing stuff like this.
Let us not forget that the destruction of the second Death Star would in real life caused a massive death toll on the moon's surface. There would have been nothing left of the Ewok's if these movies had occurred after ROTJ.
What about Earth? The human family in this movie said they came from planet Earth...bloody freaking Earth...Compared to this the holiday special is amazing!
Fun fact, Cindel Towani (the little girl) actually found her way into the old Expanded Universe: She was mentioned in the novel "Tyrant's Test", the third part of the Black Fleet Crisis-Trilogy, set 12 years after Endor.
I remember the advertising. It was named "The Great Ewok Adventure" (not Caravan of Courage) here in Holland. And since I have hated Eewoks since "Return of the Jedi," I never watched it. End of story.

I remember watching these movies on TV back in the day, and... recording them on VHS tapes. AND... I still have the tapes. Yeah, I know, don't say it. Also, did I mention that I still have the full soundtrack on a 33 record album? Yup.
I bought them on DVD about ten years ago. I also had them on tape way back when my mum taped them for me. Watching them now, they seem a little childish, but children are who they were made for.
Star Brand God Damn!!!! I had the sound track on EP 33 1/3 album myself!!!! I think it's so precious the way these music nerds today go on and on about "vinyl" and how that "vintage sound" is how music is supposed to sound! As someone who has seen the advances from records to 8 tracks,to cassette,to CDs,I can tell you, music is supposed to sound like it's live, not scratchy and popping! We waited and waited for our favorites to be rereleased on cassette,so we could hear in good quality!! That being said.... I fuckin love listening to an actual record, just makes me feel like a kid again!
in my opinion, Caravan of Courage is PURE Star Wars; world building, having characters with realistic motivations, having cute moments and entertaining moments, following a single narrative, and being a good movie not connected to the larger Star Wars narrative.
Rafael. . .ikr? I remember watching them. That's why I was surprised when I found both of them on dvd for under $5 at Wal-Mart about 6-7 years ago.(both movies are sold together, in one case btw)
The lasers, faster than light travel without FTL capability, the giant super duper space gun's the size of a moon, and the bestiary of creepy critters aren't too far - it's the guys glasses for you? Duuuude. :P
I was 88 and didn't know about star wars until I was 11. I consider myself a big fan, but never, ever heard of these two movies. Although to be fair, I read that old star wars encyclopedia and was really puzzled as to where all the extra photographic material came from regarding characters and species on Endor. I had attributed them to the cmas special. Well, now I know.
also these movies are listed on Warwick Davis's IMDb page. Besides any movie/show will end up on IMDb at some point. So basically IMDb is the Internets movie/show archive.
David I'm a 90's kid and I know about them. I seen both Ewok movies before I seen the original trilogy. I think they aired on Disney channel back then and I was about 4 or 5 years old so this was around 1992 or 1993 (I'm 29 now). I loved those movies. I also seen the original movies before they got butchered when they aired on either TBS or USA in 1994... (Han Solo getting frozen gave me nightmares and Vadar scared me at the time but now I love Vadar because he is badass and James Earl Jones voices him). So yeah I knew be of these films and they pop up on UA-cam from time to time.
Oh, come on. The Clone Wars dIdn't have a crawl, Rebels didn't have one. It was far from being a precident and considering what they announced what they were planning to do with Rogue One, hardly a surprise.
"so rogue one DIDN'T break new ground with no opening crawl?" No, but it was The Clone Wars movie that broke that rule, these don't count because they were made for TV, not real movies.
In Return of Jedi it's simply called the "Forest Moon of Endor" Endor being the gas giant and the Forest Moon being one of several, though in the movie you can't tell except their is one more moon.
Ewoks beating stormtroopers makes more sense than the alternative that people love to point to as being the better concept (re: wookies). When you think about it, it would have the change the movie drastically (and probably for the worse). You have small primitive bears that have pointy sticks as weapons, then you have huge super strong monsters. You aren't going to consider the first a threat, so you will completely ignore them. Wookies are something you can't ignore AT ALL due to the huge differences between them. So the idea is basically the Empire's hubris is what does them in in the end. It's a classic use of literally devices used like how the first movie is just a fantasy adventure but set in space.
Ha ha! Me too. We had a VHS of Battle for Endor taped off of the TV when it first aired, but I started it late and didn't see the first five minutes of the movie for years.
Well looks like Disney finally excepts the existence of these movies because they are on the Disney + Star Wars vintage collection, along with the Ewoks tv series, the clone wars micro series, and a faithful Wookiee.
LOL Yeah I felt the same way. Definitely have very fond, and very fuzzy memories of the first film. I always remembered there were Ewok movies but wondered why they never sat next to the trilogy movies in stores... now I know.
Fred Svenlin Disney is strict on canon now. It's just the I-VI and everything Disney put out after buying Lucasfilm. Trust me, I say the Holiday Special is canon!!!
They gained a major following of children throughout the eighties and nineties on VHS. They're wonderful movies. Pure bliss. Perfect childrens fairy tales.
Can't say I blame you. They're cannibalistic in the originals, and creepy as all hell. I'd sooner let a Jawa turn my TV into a Transformer than let an Ewok wander around my neighborhood.
I liked the first one as a kid, because as a kid in the 80s, the only thing you wanted more as a friend/pet after Ewoks was a mogui Gizmo from Gremlins!

Fast forward 6 years and not only are these now on Disney+ but they are also better than the sequel trilogy lol
Battle For Endor is excellent. 9/10
Wait, is it the Caravan of courage?
Oh god it is.
Yep.
I had the same reaction, used to watch these with the actor Eric & my dad
ABC used to play them all the time right around christmas. Pretty sure every fan knew about these who grew up in the 80s early 90s
Yeah. I was young in the early 90's (the year always represented the grade I was in). Being as young as I was, I had only seen one Star Wars movie before watching these. Who knew that the franchise would end up being my favorite of all time.
These two movies were always fun to watch back then. Kids definitely loved them.
I saw these and the holiday special when they first came out.
You forgot the most important thing. Are these canon?
no
They aren't anymore
Yeah as far as I know, the Holiday Special was actually no longer canon in the 90s even before the prequels came out. George Lucas himself really hated the Holiday Special too.
The best part is, when asked about this movie in an interview, Harrison ford had a look that most would describe as "Ptsd" XD This movie scarred poor harrison's mind!
Le Croissant They are.

You can tell this video is pre-Last jedi. Its so hopeful and positive haha
Eh, they're kinda like DC. Get away from the blockbuster sequels and stick to disney+ side shows/movies

Nearly 4 years later, Disney has put the Ewoks films on Disney+
And The Ewoks TV show!
Why are there horses on the forest moon of endor?
Why not? Its not like the fact that its a moon make so that it has to be like our moon... Its a moon of a Gas Giant, so it can pretty much work like a planet!
They're space horses, duh
Why are there little curly headed blonde girls in space?
I guess they have horses in the SW Galaxy just like there's humans in the SW Galaxy
do you know if leptons are really compound particles?!
Freaking Horses. . .
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and Battle for Endor are both cute films and it was actually nice to see something in the Star Wars universe outside the main films. They suck but hey... So did Episode I.
I have seen the ewoks adventure , caravan of courage and the holiday special :3
Nerd fan Gurl for life so have I, they were on cable years ago.
I’m sorry you saw the Holiday special.
I remember watching the second one. As a kid I loved it! My mom recorded it off the tv on the old VHS, and I've likely watched it 10 times. No matter how bad it was, it still holds a special place for me. Keep in mind I grew up in rural Canada with only 2 channels to choose from.
I wake up in a cold sweat. Those words play over and over again in my mind.
“The Ewok adventures aren’t canon”
And then, I started to scream

Technically, the fantasy/witch stuff is canon in Star Wars. See the nightsisters of Dathomir.

But given that at the end of ROTJ the alliance and Ewoks were seen partying in the forest, we can probably assume that Endor was just fine. ;)

Fair point. Look at Kirk...
What about Earth? The human family in this movie said they came from planet Earth...bloody freaking Earth...Compared to this the holiday special is amazing!

I remember the advertising. It was named "The Great Ewok Adventure" (not Caravan of Courage) here in Holland. And since I have hated Eewoks since "Return of the Jedi," I never watched it. End of story.

these were actually my favourite star wars films as a kid, I've watched them hundreds of times, never got tired of them
These movies are fine. I'm a very hardcore Star Wars fan and it seems odd why they'd hide these movies. I can arguably say these movies are very good.
Maxx Krok then it should be good for you ....
Agreed but that's no bad thing. I watched them both recently and enjoyed them immensely. I'm 34 btw

This video annoyed me because I grew up with this Ewok stuff , I just accepted it as part of the universe.
Apparently, they're allowing us to see them now. Because now they're on Disney+.

in my opinion, Caravan of Courage is PURE Star Wars; world building, having characters with realistic motivations, having cute moments and entertaining moments, following a single narrative, and being a good movie not connected to the larger Star Wars narrative.
dude, they played them on TV back in the 80s. I saw them as a kid. Where have you been?
Rafael Nieto Well I'm probably his core demographic and I was born in 1994, so there you go.

These movies aren't some big secret. Any kid from the 80s knows them. So dumb.
Brides of Cthulhu I know
Yeah. I pity them, they don't know what they missed, and will never understand the cultural impact.
Cartoon Network Brazil actually broadcasted both films in the early 2010's.

so rogue one DIDN'T break new ground with no opening crawl?

Oh, come on. The Clone Wars dIdn't have a crawl, Rebels didn't have one. It was far from being a precident and considering what they announced what they were planning to do with Rogue One, hardly a surprise.

uncultured hack frauds
i applaud them for being different!
"so rogue one DIDN'T break new ground with no opening crawl?"
No, but it was The Clone Wars movie that broke that rule, these don't count because they were made for TV, not real movies.
"Ewok's native planet of Endor"
It's....it's a moon
A sanctuary moon, whatever that means.
Piano Puff I can't tell if this is serious or a reference to how he pointed out the same thing in the video.
+Piano Puff A moon is a planet that revolves around another planet so, in fact, it is not incorrect to call Endor a planet.
Endor is the planet. The moon is never actually named, apart from "the sanctuary moon".
In Return of Jedi it's simply called the "Forest Moon of Endor" Endor being the gas giant and the Forest Moon being one of several, though in the movie you can't tell except their is one more moon.
Sitting in the intro like "This is gonna be about the ewok adventures.... called it"
People hate the Ewoks; i love them.
Same here always had a place in my heart for Teddy Bears
Still don't like the Ewoks defeating the stormtroopers, but love the Ewoks movies
Yeah its that damn plot armor they are giving.
I don't mind Ewoks. Did you know that Ewoks are naked Jawas?
I remember watching these on TV as a kid!!! Yes, thanks for reminding me happier memories! Yup yup
