  • PART 1: Getting the Engine Running:
    • ROPER PUSH MOWER - Rev...
I am restoring this Roper push mower with a TVS90 Tecumseh engine on it. In this video we do a full restoration/ patina touch up on the mower deck. In a future video we will be repurposing this mower in to a new machine.

I love the tecumseh logo and the UA-cam name on it. It's making it personal like you will be using it for many years to come.

Very cool. The music you chose fits perfectly, kinda gives it a New Yankee Workshop vibe.

Commenting as I watch... Dude! I've been thinking for a while to get one of those coffee filter baskets to filter out the debris so I can reuse the old fuel/oil mix I use for cleaning up things sometimes! I've been using a huge funnel with a 1-inch removable screen in the bottom but it clogs up too fast, it's too slow and doesn't get a lot of the smaller stuff. I tried using actual coffee filters (didn't have a filter basket yet) but that also didn't work well because it took so long to drain because it clogged up so fast. Maybe the basket for the inital screening and then add an actual paper filter for the final screening? I see you've got what looks like the same 15L ultrasonic cleaner. I use Steve's (Small Engine Saloon) suggestion of several different jars for all the small stuff with detergents and water in them so I don't have to drain and clean out the machine itself. That said, I did get an NPT/hose barb fitting I installed with Teflon tape. Then I hose-clamped a 3/8" fuel hose long enough to reach the ground so I can drain the cleaner anytime I want into a bucket. So far the jars haven't leaked so I haven't had to. I've used a combination of Dawn and Simple Green with water but I think I want to go to something stronger next time or leave the parts in longer than 20 minutes. I've haven't been turning on the heat, although maybe I should try that at some point to see if it helps with the grease.

What's that green stuff in the syringe you added to the water, Simple Green?
