A few things he said here were very Peterson-esque. The juxtaposition between facts and truth is something Peterson seems to constantly reference. And different values of truth. Very complicated philosophical subjects and norm just throws em off the cuff here.

I’m also Irish and my family moved to Canada before eventually coming down to America so I have roots in both countries. I also found a lot of myself and my family in his comedy and he was the only “celebrity” type figure where I found myself genuinely upset over his death. I first came across Norm in the early 90’s from his small movie rolls like Billy Madison and then I saw him on Letterman/SNL and became a huge fan. I remember going to see Dirty Work in the theater and taping that early Family Guy episode where he played “Death” on VHS… Then after his sitcom got cancelled, I totally lost track of Norm for 10+ years until I saw some clips from his cable sports show before he started the podcast. I was expecting to not find him as funny because I was only a teenager when I first became a fan and a lot of the stuff you find funny when you’re young doesn’t hold up as well when you get older… but to my surprise he was even funnier and more skilled in his stand-up acts. Because he was a guy I loved as a kid and then rediscovered as an adult and ended up loving even more, it felt like losing someone I knew for a really long time who was a huge source of positive energy. Whenever you are in a bad place, you can throw on any of his material and get a genuine kick out of it and forget about your problems. He was a genuine legend.

Norm's impersonation of Bob Newhart at 13:00 minutes is HILARIOUS, subtle and so well-done. He's really a brilliant mimic, another of his many under-appreciated talents.
I enjoyed that the most! Norm is one of the all-time greats, and Bob Newhart is also one of my personal favorites, so that story was like “full circle” comedy.
Norm was actually a very highly intelligent person he was actually a very gifted at math that he loved poker he count cards like crazy. His jokes those seemed still had mean behind them if you really thought about it and that’s the reason Conan O’Brien and a couple other people loved having them on their show. One of the few comedians who spoke his mind so truthfully and at the same time can make it funny.
What Norm is doing is more subtle than what most people will perceive. That is the brilliance of Norm. From reading the comments people are missing it--surely the man in the video is--but I'll briefly say this: Norm said in a previous interview, in response to a question, that power is one of his greatest dislikes: both the power people have over him and any power he has over someone else. That is why he is behaving the way he is--he is subverting power. He is protesting in his own brilliant way.

Norm's impersonation of Bob Newhart at 13:00 minutes is HILARIOUS, subtle and so well-done. He's really a brilliant mimic, another of his many under-appreciated talents.
I enjoyed that the most! Norm is one of the all-time greats, and Bob Newhart is also one of my personal favorites, so that story was like “full circle” comedy.
Norm is stinging for that camera to turn off so he can have a xan.
Norm's explanation of fact vs truth is so wise and on point with today.

Norm was actually a very highly intelligent person he was actually a very gifted at math that he loved poker he count cards like crazy. His jokes those seemed still had mean behind them if you really thought about it and that’s the reason Conan O’Brien and a couple other people loved having them on their show. One of the few comedians who spoke his mind so truthfully and at the same time can make it funny.

What Norm is doing is more subtle than what most people will perceive. That is the brilliance of Norm. From reading the comments people are missing it--surely the man in the video is--but I'll briefly say this: Norm said in a previous interview, in response to a question, that power is one of his greatest dislikes: both the power people have over him and any power he has over someone else. That is why he is behaving the way he is--he is subverting power. He is protesting in his own brilliant way.

I feel like the key to understanding Norm is that he believes deeply that life is holy, but in light of that he finds people and their pursuits universally absurd, and therefore, hilarious.

It really, really bothers me how much Geoff Edgers interrupted Norm, especially knowing what little time we had left with Norm. Not only in this Facebook Live post, but during the now historical interview at Sixth and I, Geoff interrupted and cut Norm off, and as long as I live, I will never understand why. Norm is the master of self deprecating humor, so he appreciates it when someone else makes a good joke in the same vein.
At first the guy was annoying but I found him likeable as the video went on.
Just speculating here but Norm seemed to make his own schedule and a book signing seems like just the kinda thing that would annoy him.
