For those who want to say there was no Holocaust, as I saw in some comments, please do some actual historical research. Also, this is a great aspirational video:

  • @1980bwc

Wow! His opinion on why bad things happen to people, is the best explanation I've ever heard given on the topic. It's a better answer than any preacher I've ever heard give, and I've been in church hearing sermons all 42 years of my life. I think that even though Norm is no longer with us, he is going to continue to suprise us, by just how wise he was, and how deeply his thought process was. Most people who are subbed to this channel are pretty dang smart, the reason I say that, is that it takes a little bit above average intelligence to truly appreciate his style of comedy. I've been shocked many times when showing people the funniest things Norm has ever said, and them look at me like I'm the idiot for finding it hilarious. I think it takes a pretty smart and witty person to love and truly appreciate Norm. Not necessarily a book smart person, but a person who thinks fast, has a great ability to read people, and most importantly, has an understanding of sarcasm. The number of people in this world who don't have the ability to recognize sarcasm when they hear it, is staggering. My point is, that we as fans are going to continue to learn lessons from Norm for many more years to come.

Except his logic is terrible and easily argued against.. he's smart but hes trying to force himself into believing some "good" god, which led him to a fatal error, creating a ruleset as humans have in the past, from their own desire in their own imagination/logic which doesn't apply to this "god".
Who said god is good and can't creat good because it would be "expansion" and so he made bad? Did god say that? No. Norm made that rule up. From his mind. Therefore it's a meaningless assumption. I can make a million random rulesets like that myself. A god wouldn't have silly limitations like that, because it's.. a god. Anything you as a person think of as god in your mind is wrong. Are you really so foolish to think a human is going to imagine the correct god if it exists, by chance? The only god you could reasonably believe in is a shitty one.

I found this an interesting conversation. The one thing that came to my my mind is that you can't understand God's permission of suffering if you don't believe in Satan the Devil. The whole reason for the state of the world is Satan's challenge to God that man could rule himself independent of the universal sovereign. As a just God he has allowed time for that challenge to be proved false and the whole theme of the Bible is his Kingdom which will put all these injustices right, and how we can benefit from it.

I believe he always retracted the way he did from compliments for two reasons. 1. He had a rough upbringing because of his father. 2. But more importantly, and can be gained from his interviews is because he believes the Bible and that “man is prideful and flesh is weak.” He really wasn’t comfortable being doted upon as Dennis Miller always pointed out about him going Andy Kaufman against compliments. Normie is my favorite of all time. I never met him but I cried like he was my brother and best friend. Not sure why. Not sure if it was because I recognized a version of myself in him that had more bravery to pursue his big dreams or if it was his willingness to not play it safe. I really don’t know but I’ve never been this emotional over someone’s death outside my family. The only thing I know is the loss of Norm’s perspective feels like a tragedy and conceding a loss to corporatism where everyone will only protect their paycheck and say whatever “they” want going forward. I’ve loved his comedy since the Update desk on SNL where he wouldn’t compromise. I love him even though I didn’t know him personally and I will miss him.

I'm not willing to look like an idiot out in public pretending like God exists when he doesn't even have the desency to show himself to others. People really need to start demanding that from God because he is not doing anything to help other people believe that he exists. Why should I be doing all the work for him. He needs to show himself or forget about getting help from anyone anymore. That's the least he can if he wants people to believe in him. So until he does this, count me out on pushing that he is real. I'm tired of looking like an idiot trying to explain to people why he wont how himself. Some great stuff. I wish it had not cut off when it did.
Norm at 10:25 obviously misspeaks when he puts the Lord's Prayer in the Old Testament; it is found in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.
Many people have noticed the problem with the "lead me not into temptation" line of this prayer and apparently Bergoglio blamed it on a mistranslation and has altered the words. Although it is a problem of translation, as usual the Satanic heretic got it wrong. Thomas Fleming has shown that the word "temptation" in the prayer is the same word that is used in the temptations of Christ. So the line in the prayer is not avoiding the temptation of having a second piece of chocolate cake but about not undergoing the trials that Christ was subjected to in the desert by Satan.

I always think when the basic questions arise of "how does God allow bad things to happen? And stuff about the problem of evil, people need to read the patristic Fathers. This stuff was all dealt with in like 3rd century Constantinople onwards. St Augustine wrote an 800 page book that dealt extensively with this, but nowadays people just reduce the divine will down to the level of human preference, taste and a subjective morality that results from atheism. So of course nothing makes sense, because if those are your presuppositions, then you would just expect God to give everyone tasty food and orgasms all day long because all suffering = bad

This helped me better understand a concept of god. And it came from norm Macdonald…
I am now able to visualize god in a way I’ve never been able to in my 33 years of life. If god is the infinite then like you when you sleep it must recharge itself in a way by sacrificing a part of itself to create universes. Perhaps the universes are neutral to begin with but they are what norm explains. A place where things that are bad are able to morph and transform back into good with enough time. And once you’ve done that correctly you’re able to return back to the oneness of god. Then you repeat the cycle when a part of god needs to be maintained. Like when you grow old and go through some kind of problem….sometimes you know the answer to help yourself but must remind yourself of the correct steps it took you before in accomplishing or overcoming whatever it is you’re going through. Like neural pathways that need to be maintained. That’s what god needs to do as well. Throw parts of itself into chaos and wait for it to correct itself back into being all good.
I don’t think any other religion has ever come this close to describing what feels real to me. Thankyou, Norm. Enjoy the oneness for a while.
