Oh Why???!!!! The cruelty of this video!!! I was just diagnosed with Silent Reflux and am no longer allowed chocolate or peppermint. My two favorite things in the world. Besides Yarn of course. Maybe in the future.....
I love, love, love peppermint Pattie’s, so I am going to try your recipe. I am a little intimidated by all the kneading, but I’m guessing the sugar high will be so worth the labor.
Okay, made these babies today. Definitely recommend making them with kids. I had a blast. While mixing the dough, I went to scrape it off my rubber spatula and forgot, 'Hey, rubber is flexible' and sent bits of dough flying 😂😂 Then, after my son and I laughed and wheezed for about ten minutes, we cleaned that mess up. Waiting the two hours right now. It's going to make about 40 patties. I have enough ingredients to make another batch, but will wait a little closer to the holidays as they'll be a hit! (Only next time I won't try to hit the ceiling with the dough 😂😂😂😅🤣🤣🤣) 10/10 and I haven't even ate one yet😂
Look yummy, I like to do stuff like that with grandchildren. Try Ritz crackers with peanut butter (cracker on top too) dip into chocolate. Let set to dry. They taste like Reese.
Thank you Craig🕷. They look scrumptious. My son loves peppermint patties. I'm going to be trying this. Thank you so much for the recipe. He will be so surprised. They are not hard to make it all. You make it seem so easy. You're the best teacher thank you so much. Have a great day🕷👍🕷
Try McCormicks Mint Extract. It is a softer mint flavoring. I prefer it to the strong peppermint extract. I thoroughly enjoy watching your shows. Thank you.
Love your video-always like it when you are making something or having a Happy Mail day; I don't care for peppermint patties HOWEVER adding another flavor is a GREAT idea! I was thinking of almond extract. You have a great day too.
Thank you so much for this video. I am not a big dessert person these days, but this was so warm and comforting to watch after a beast of a work day. I felt like I was right there with you. Thank you again for inviting us into your kitchen!
I love the apron. I'm going to try this out. My mother loves this stuff to settle her stomach. I think it's great to have more control of what is going in our food. (I'm going to make the dreamcicles for me.)
These look amazing! I never knew this was so easy to do. I love peppermint patties, but I think it would be fun to experiment with other flavors. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm thinking using anise extract with the recipe would be stellar!
I made a whole bunch for my daughter and veganized them by using coconut condensed milk. Delicious! So happy, and yes, make them small as suggested!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Craig, These are one of my all time favorites it was fun to watch. I've always wanted to try but never did maybe this will give me the incentive I need to get started. Thank you for the video.
You are one talented young man. Think limoncello would work? I saw someone use a potato masher to dip bon bons and seemed to work really well. Who knows! Thanks for ALL your wonderful videos.
Hey Mr. Multi-Talented! Yes, I needed this recipe. I purchased the peppermint extract and a lady in the grocery store wrote down the recipe for me. I lost the recipe!! But still have that extract so I'll give it a go.
I put a toothpick in it then freeze then dip in chocolate it will harden faster pull toothpick out after you dip to hide hole a lot easier to dip then a fork.. try it
Craig here is a little tip when my mom would make these she would put the dough on wax paper then put wax paper on top and roll with a rolling pin and use a juice glass dipped in powder sugar and cut them out it makes them thin. She used a cookie cooling rack put them on to dry then leave on and make the chocolate in a shallow glass dish and dip rack and all put on wax paper to drain.
Yummmmmmm..... Thanks you so much Craig, will have to make some of these soon, also like the you used orange, will have to go to the store to hunt for more flavors! I'd love to try it with banana, pineapple, and raspberry flavored extract! Thanks again for sharing!
Yummmmmmmy.... I love your cooking videos as well as your crocheting videos ❤💙💞 May I give you a tip from an old gal ? Try a few shakes of salt in your mixture to cut that jaw-tingling sweetness down a bit. Happy cooking & crocheting !!
Not to be difficult, but if you re-watch the video, you actually put 2tsp of mint extract in. You started with 1/2, then 1, then a 2nd half. You had made mention that you thought you might have needed a bit more of the orange, so it makes sense that the 2tsp would work the best. :) Either way, it's a GREAT recipe!! Oh, and SALT DOUGH!!!!! MAN did that bring back memories!!! My mother used to make that when I was a kid all the time! She really enjoyed making Christmas Ornaments with it. I had COMPLETELY forgot about that! We also did homemade Play-Doh as well. She was a certified Montessori preschool teacher, so she LOVED doing that kind of stuff with us when we were kids. Thanks for the wonderful trip down "Memory Lane." :)
Thank you for the amazing tutorial Craig. Is there anything you don't do!? Just wondering if I can use a food processor to combine the patties? Thanks for your wonderful videos.
I enjoyed this video so much! I have been thinking about buying a spurtle and I was interested in watching you use it to mix the candy. It seems to work quite well.
Delicious! I suggest using wire baking rack for both drying the patties, and for draining the excess chocolate. You still line underneath to catch drops that may fall! It will save you time!
In the 60s, my mother use to make our Christmas chocolates every year with all different extracts but out of mashed potatoes, icing sugar and melted chocolate. We even packed it around marichino cherries or nuts and dipped them. I use to be her "dipper", and being the youngest, it worked out to be one for me and two for the tray lol. And with 6 kids, there were a lot of chocolates to be made. Beautiful memories.
oh rose flavoured would also be really nice too. I think I'll try these with a coconut based condensed milk with maybe a cherry flavouring! The possibilities are endless!
Happy Chinese New Year 2022 - Year of the Tiger from me and Zoey!!! What do you think of this idea, dear Fiber Spider-Craig, I have some peppermint cane leftover from Christmas. What If I finely crush them and mix them in a l/2 c. of condensed milk plus only 2 l/2 to 3 cups of powdered sugar. Substitute the shortening with 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil melted into the 3 cups of dark chocolate chips. Do you think that would work? As usually I enjoy your happy video!
Peppermint patties are my favorite candy. But i'm a diabetic and cant eat it. Thanks for sharing this. I can always make it for my family. Have an awesome day

WOW...I had no idea that these could be made at home. They are beautiful...GREAT job!!
I love, love, love peppermint Pattie’s, so I am going to try your recipe. I am a little intimidated by all the kneading, but I’m guessing the sugar high will be so worth the labor.
Going to make this with the granddaughters. Ty God bless you and your family

Great recipe. My family loves peppermint Pattie’s. Thanks for sharing Craig. Love you new cooking videos !!!
I haven't made these in a few years was surprised at how simple they really were to do. The hardest part is waiting for them to dry lol.

I think you'll find that 3 halves make 1 and a half. He was using a half teaspoon measure
He actually used 3, 1/2 teaspoons full. So, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons.
Look's delicious!
Orange does sound good as well mint!
Good experiment!
Orange would be heavenly ! My favourite. I might try cherry too.
Thanks for this.

Love peppermint patties so I am going to make these. I am a little intimidated by all the kneading, but I guess the sugar high will be worth it.
'Hummingbird spontaniously combust' had me giggling. So..from start to finish how long did it take?

I see some definite potential. Give it a whirl 😉
You should adjust your camera, can’t see what your doing lol
I would to try wintergreen. They would be like the ones that new england candy co used to make.
They looked fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
I made some anise candy but colored it blue. My friend was so confused as to the flavor.😂
It looked like you put in the 1/2 twice for the pappermint extract so it was 2 tsp.
oh, I see you don't like to use wire racks! (you have to oil them first!
i am going to attempt those in a keto sugar free! i will let you know how they turn out. :)
You don't want to end up with powdered sugar lung!!
Peppermint patties are my favorite candy. But i'm a diabetic and cant eat it. Thanks for sharing this. I can always make it for my family. Have an awesome day
I'm going to try using Swerve as substitute for sugar. Has worked well in other recipes.
@@rp8386 Is Swerve an artificial sweetener in the USA? Could you tell me what it is made from then perhaps I can find something similar 🤔?

Can these be stored at room temp or do they have to be refrigerated? They look yummy! I would try with lemon extract and white chocolate coating.
I think they can be stored at room temperature but I like them chilled.
They look REALLY good!
These are perfect to add CBD oil for medicinal "edibles". Worth their weight in gold.
