i would reduce the sour cream and soup by half and add 4 or 5 eggs and top with french fried onions and/or french fried jalapenos, keep the ham too. that would make a more sliceable casserole. love it!!!

I love casseroles like this. I make a tater tot casserole with tater tots (duh) and cheese on top but I add in what ever I have in the fridge. Sometimes ham, breakfast sausage, salsa or guacamole. I layer the baking dish with the tater tots and mix in about 4 eggs and your other ingredients and poor over the tots. Then bake at 350 for about half an hour to make sure the tots and eggs are done. Don't forget to top it with cheese. YUM!!

That looks delicious. I love the mushroom soup instead of chicken. I would also add peas and maybe some sweetcorn. Instead of ham, maybe left over chicken or turkey? Not sure if we can buy shredded hashbrowns here in UK but can easily shred some whole ones. Thank you for the lovely recipe and ideas.

Craig I love that you are doing cooking videos! It is so much fun!! As to the recipe, you could add just about any leftover protein. Your peas idea is good one. How about roasted red bell for color? It is such a good base I think you could do just about anything to it.

Hidey, Spidey...As you.were adding ingredients, I thought "Wouldn't some chopped green chiles be good in this." Not jalapenos, but the chiles from New Mexico. They have a little bite, but are not so hot. But they are ADDICTIVE. You may have a hard time finding them where you are, but I would be tickled to send you some.

    Ok here goes my friend...
    My adds was...
Whole kernel Corn, Peas, 2 cans of white meat Chicken "well drained"
Big can of Cream of Chicken soup, large Onion... and for the topping Frosted Flakes...
The rest was as you did, except i dident add Ham lol...
I also want to add that I covered mine with Aluminum foil, an baked 1 1/2 hours and it really got nice and done all the way threw, I will cover and cook next time to, not runny just a perfect consistency...
Results? EXTREAMLY good ranking is a 5 outta 5 stars!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Chicken was a GREAT add!!!
The only change will be UNsweetend Cereal flakes next time...
Although the Frosted Flakes was a sweet topping I dunno iffen it was the right add for me, unless you might want a sweetened topping...
Can't wait till the next meal ya make 😊
Maybe a Green bean casserole some time please? lol

Well, I made the casserole and it was very delicious. Only complaint - it makes way too much :) I will have to try it make it half the size next time. I did add the ham and put chips on top. All the stores in my area were out of cornflakes. I couldn't find Shredded Hash browns in my town either so I used cubed hash browns and it turned out just fine.

omg that looks good! Butter, sour cream AND cheese! XD Lots of yummy dairy goodness! I might try sprinkling bacon on the top in addition to the chips...
This looks suspiciously like Green Bean Casserole, so you could always add green beans. You mentioned wanting to find broccoli cheese soup, so maybe add some diced broccoli? You pretty much already put in the cheese! XD Or maybe substitute cauliflower for the hash browns?

Yummy. I make it plain/original for the first batch. I like to jazz up the leftovers with the add-ins so it is different every time it is served. Peas are our fav. Chicken nuggets, hot peppers, Tuna, ground beef, ground chicken or turkey, shredded cooked carrots, brats, hotdogs, polish sausage, Breakfast sausage. You can even add an egg and fry it up in patties and have it for breakfast.

When I first saw you grab your bowl, I was shouting out to you- no! It will never fit. Lol. I just had to make this- but with a few variations. The 2 biggies are I used Simply Potatoes Hash Browns, and I added smoke sausage, cut up into thin slices. Veggies would work too- I think broccoli would be great. Thank you for this! It was so good! It took me several days, and eating it for lunch and dinner, but I am ready for another batch!

Good idea for a recipe! I will try this using 1 can cream of mushroom and 1 can of cream a chicken. Using the 2 elevates the flavor of the dish and goes great with the ham/pork! I often combine the two soups. Secondly this can also be made cooked in the crockpot. I often do casseroles in mine just adjust the time conversion. With a cp liner, no muss, no fuss to clean everything up. :)

I'm the cheesy tater queen of Iroquois county. I let the pack of potatoes thaw overnight in the fridge like you did. I grab my biggest Pyrex bowl and melt a stick of butter in it in the microwave. I just use one can of soup and one cup of sour cream. I mix that all together. No onion in mine. I use Aldi shredded cheddar 2 cups go in with the potatoes. I throw in the potatoes and cheese and mix. I pour it into the 9x13 casserole sprayed with Pam. I flatten it out then put 2 cups more of the shredded cheddar on top then bake in the oven at 350 for 45 min. The family doesn't like chips or corn flakes on top cornflakes on top. We have it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's our favorite with homemade Italian beef. Sliced smoked sausage would be great in it.

This is a go-to family dish. Serve it at most of our brunches. You can easily substitute frozen cubed or diced hash browns & it works well with tater tots too! Crumbled bacon on top is yummy. I make it frequently, I use a combination of 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can cream of celery, I use garlic powder 3/4 teaspoon or crushed garlic 2cloves. I keep 2 tablespoons of the butter and put it on top of the potato chips or used italian flavored panko crumbs. Then when there is 10 min. Left of the cooking time put more cheese on top. I put the potatoes in the bowl frozen , I also add diced mushrooms, and cut up pieces of spam. No peas but have added corn.

Can green beans or even fresh broccoli , cheese on top then one can of cream of chicken mixed with one can of water . Pour soup on top put foil over top cook for about 1 hour and half or until tater tots are looking crispy. You can use really anything you want and make it . You can also add any type of herbs or peppers

love this recipe. the one I use only has one cam of soup and you mix half the melted butter with the corn flakes (helps to get them brown and crunchy). with less soup it is more solid. also cooking a bit longer.
for my family I don't need a full recipe so I measure everything out, put half the soup in a plastic bag, place half of all rest of ingredients (not the butter, sour cream or corn flakes) in the potatoe bag band then back in freezer. most everything measured out for next time, I just defrost the soup on microwave before using
