    The reason for the indentation is that it holds the sauce. Made gnocchi all my life, love them !!!!

    • @lindasyarnbarn5176

      What do you mean by an “indention”? Do you put a little dip in them before boiling?
      I’ve never had gnocchi before. Also, is the sauce just spaghetti sauce?

      @@lindasyarnbarn5176 with your thumb you roll each piece over a fork, the ridges of the fork look ice and it will leave the thumb indentation. I’m from Italy so I’ve made gnocchi quite often , hope you’ll try . Fiber Spider made it so easy to make the dough, those instant potatoes he used are the best!!!

    I’ve always wondered if it was possible to use instant potato flakes. Thank you!
    If you have some gnocchi left, heat a little butter in a pan (with a drop of oil), and fry up your gnocchi. Add an unpeeled clove of garlic and one sage leaf to the pan as well. Once they’ve browned in parts, transfer to a dish, drizzle over the butter, sprinkle with cheese and serve with whatever takes your fancy. Utterly delicious. I always make more gnocchi than I need just to be able to make fried gnocchi later.

    • @eddavanleemputten9232
      @eddavanleemputten9232 2 роки тому

      You certainly didn’t! A little trick for the tastiest gnocchi or creamy mashed potatoes: don’t peel your potatoes. Wash them well, boil them with the skins on. Rice them skin and all and fish the skins out every once in a while. The skins impart that extra-potato-ey flavour. So much faster and easier than faffing around with a peeler or a knife. Less loss too!
      Just make sure you choose floury potatoes, not waxy ones. You’ll get fluffier mash.
