THANK YOU! These actually brought relief (haven't tried the tape one, yet)! I've had psoriatic arthritis since i was a toddler, and have had costochondritis my entire adult life. I just said out loud "Ooh, clavicle pain, daggum!" And boom - there was this video on my feed 🤣 But seriously, you are the real deal. Most PT's seem to believe in forcing things, even if it causes greater injury and a decrease in quality of life. Your compassion, and insight along with your cautions are trust-fostering and hope giving. G-d bless you. Shalom 🤍🙏🕊

I had been struggling with pain and inflammation near my clavicle for 2 years. Doctors have been at a loss, I've gotten MRI's, Xrays, CT's. Everything, came up clean. It's completely thrown off my entire life as I used to train in the Gym 6 days a week and it made it so I couldn't even train at all.
One day I noticed my SCM was really tight, and then later I noticed that my left clavicle was raised about an inch higher than my right. This got me thinking that maybe my SCM being tight has pulled my clavicle up, pulling and spraining the anterior sternoclavicular ligament and costoclavicular ligament. After doing the SCM stretches in this video and stretching my trap, I had instant relief.
Thank you Ryley, you've helped me get back to doing the things I love.

THanks ! As I’ve gotten older - my ever so slightly hyper mobile sc has become more of a problem - I wake up with an anterior displacement if I sleep wrong - as much as anatomy videos are help full - this practical and conservative explanation of how I can effect the motion a little - is extremely helpful . I’m also - of course - happy to learn from you that I cupido feel fortunate to not have the posterior problem lol - there is always something to be thankful for lol! Very helpful

I've had SC joint issues for years. Not much worked. A few things did though. These stretches, and foam rolling my upper back. SC joint actually popped a bit, then felt great after. I believe it was some sort of tension release. Wish everyone the best.

I know you can't give specific medical advice here but can you at least give a general yea or nay as to whether something like this can be permanently repaired without using invasive procedures (ie: allowing time to heal and stretches/strengthening, taping, etc) or whether a sprained/dislocated sternoclavicular joint is going to be an ongoing issue (popping and/or pain with movement, discomfort with certain activities, protrusion, etc)? Basically, will this heal permanently and go back to "normal" or will it forevermore be dislocated and problematic?
Edit: I forgot to thank you for the stretches and other info. It's hard to find useful stuff on this particular problem.

Im hoping its tight scm from looking down at phone and laptop etc and that with these stretches it will settle down. Thanks for the stretches, while I was not in pain I was worried of a certain pop or twang that I felt if I moved my arm a certain way coming from the same exact position. I noticed that when I did your stretches, those muscles were tighter on my right side compared to my left side. Today I woke up and can no longer repliucate the pop/Twang. Which make me much less worried

My right clavicle moved anteriorly at the SC joint 8 months ago (No injury, but pelvis/hip/femur rotation issues for the entire year previously and spent the year with my left hand reaching behind me to put pressure on the painful area of my low back. Then one day my right clavicle popped out and has not gone back). I have seen 3 PTs (they say it's mal-positioned but offer no solution), 2 Sports Med MDs (one with no ideas and one that said arthritis which is not a plausible idea given that it happened literally overnight), and one chiropractor that agreed it was anterior but didn't attempt much of a fix. This is the first video I have found that addressed specifically taping the SC joint and not just the clavicle. Thank you for posting! A question....when your arm is over the chair, if you rotate you body away, wouldn't that make the clavicle more anterior at the SC joint? Would the arm need to be over the chair and in front of the body to make the anterior end move back? Thanks for explaining.

@@yunusemreparlak36 I have been Zooming with a PT weekly investigating some of the Postural Restoration Institute concepts. It is the most helpful thing I have done in the past decade. Clavicle is slowly moving toward symmetry with the one on the left since I started meeting online about 10 weeks ago. Other things like ribs, hip/pelvis are restoring internal/external rotation that was significantly lacking.

Hi Riley, thanks for your informative video. On behalf of my girlfriend i have been looking around for 1. a diagnose of her collar bone sticking out, and 2. what kind of therapist she would be best off to see. Is it wise to just go to a physiotherapist? Or would it be sufficient if she were to go to a different kind of specialist? The end of her collar bone sticks out to the outside. Been to multiple doctors, and no-one knows whats the cause of it, what it is, or how it can be fixed. Am looking forward to be hearing from you. She doesnt experience any pain from the collar bone sticking out.

Riley I subluxed mine a year ago. I'm a 66 year old woman and the anterior dislocation/sublux was caused just from doing planks, rotating planks and different kinds of press ups and not from a n impact/trauma. I've been seen by consultant shoulder specialist and a sports physio and both say it will gradually start to feel normal BUT the sternocleidomastoid muscle is in constant spasm no matter if I rest it, stretch it or relax it. I have goid shoulder range but there is a lot of clunking at the shoulder end. It is this end which causes more ache and spasm up under the jaw into the ear, and down the back of scapula. Any advice?

@rishisabharwal3625 What bit of pain I got from it went away but bump is still there and so is the pop when ever my arm is moved in certain positions. My Ortho said that surgery for it is too dangerous being close to arteries and such. He would have to have a cardiologist on hand for the surgery because it's dangerous. It entails drilling a hole through the clavicle and timing it off. I asked if it would somehow come completely lose and he said no. So now it's just a little uncomfortable every now and then and seems to get better with time.
