This was probably the least painful break when it first happened, I didn’t even notice I broke it at first but the worst part is you cant cast it so getting up out of bed it horrible. but whoever is here learning just like I did it’s gonna get better soon just don’t over push it instantly.
So true, when I broke it 2 weeks ago the pain when lying down and getting up was hell and you really had to be careful, but now it’s a little better and the pain is gone but I still have 2 more weeks
I thought I bruised my ribs and strained a muscle. I had no idea I'd fractured it twice until I saw x-rays. The following two weeks were a lot worse. Third week now and feeling pretty good, mostly just morning soreness.

Exactly what I was looking for. Had a non-displaced break (way easier that usual) and just needed a few things to get back up to speed. Thanks!
Thank you very much.

I didn’t even feel it with all the adrenaline
Same, felt like nothing at first but had this clicking in my shoulder. The pain came later once I went in for an x-ray ...
same here...I got thrown off my motorcycle into traffic. I was able to get up and make it out of harms way before the pain set in
You guys rock! The complaints, regarding lengthy explanations, are to be ignored. This is why 99% of us are here. I shattered my right clavicle and went through surgery almost 3 weeks ago. Attempting to get a full and clear explanation regarding current status and short/long term goals has been difficult. You both do a wonderful job at filling in all the holes for me. Thank you!
How are you two years later? I broke my collarbone 4 weeks ago, 2 in displacement, had surgery to put a titanium plate put in. How’s it looking?
Hey I noticed that you had collarbone surgery, I’ve been thinking about getting it. Would you mind if I ask if it’s easy to get used to the numbness after the surgery?

You gotta love the NHS I was given the choice of leaving it to heal or plating. I chose to have it plated, I was in and out in a day and after 1 week I already have a bit of movement.
I got a fracture on 9th Easter Sunday and underwent a correctional clavicle orif plating and right now I'm four weeks into healing and my movements have greatly improved too

great information thank you . @@BobandBrad yes, luckilly, when the heathcare system does not work on proper level as it should, there are many valuable valid information on the internet and good people providing for others like your video
Great information! I am 3-weeks post ORIF of a distal fracture that was in 4 pieces. A plate and 11 screws later and I’m doing good. This will really help me when I’m cleared to start physical therapy at week 6 postop.
@@lkjhgfdsa297 In addition to the hardware my surgeon tied the pieces together with braided suture. Then the hardware was placed. I was in a sling/immobilizer for about 6-weeks and my surgeon didn’t want me to dangle my arm at my side or push/pull with it. I then was permitted to lift 5-10 pounds and I was out of the sling. At 10-12 weeks after surgery my surgeon said I could start lifting 10-20 pounds. I never went to a physical therapist, but I did my own therapy in my home gym using therapy videos I found online.
I'm 7 weeks in now from ORIF of a distal fracture in 4 places , also a CC repair. Still getting pain when carrying out the exercises and definitely stirs it up. I'm working through it however I was wondering how you were with pain wise after the rehab exercises.
I was definitely much weaker on the surgical side but my pain level was nearly nonexistent. I remember being affected more by pain from the radial neck fracture that I also sustained from the same accident. Luckily, I didn’t need surgery for that but I hurt more and my range of motion was more affected by it. I do remember having some difficulty and discomfort when trying to sleep on the side of the repaired clavicle. Hope you have a good recovery.
Thank you very much. I’m from New Zealand and broke my collar bone, and this was helpful for me too.
U went for surgery or heal it naturally?

I’m onto my 4th week this Friday, it’s healed a fair bit but It still feels somewhat uncomfortable doing certain movements. Any advice to make it better?
@@nickchilcoat6705 although it’s uncomfortable it’s good to keep it moving, but just be careful not to overdo it.
At my 4 week mark I was told to only spend time in the sling if absolutely necessary. A lot of the stretches in this video really helped but doing it little and often has been the key for me

as a beginner in doing push up, one month ago when I was trying hard to do full push up after few reps I felt pain under my collarbone and couldn't do more and for a week it was so hard and painful to move my arm up, so I gave it a rest but after a month I can't do cable crossover for lower chest at all and sometimes with moving arm I hear clicking and feel pain there (not as bad as before) .do you know what has happened to me?? searching for this I end up here .any help???
My horse somersaulted with me. I fell directly on the right side of my back and forced my shoulder so far forward that my right clavicle snapped in half and had fragments floating about. I had to get a plate and 6 screws put in. My body rejected the dissolvable stitches, my wound reopened several times. I couldn't properly shower for almost a month, I was in physical therapy for 3 months, couldn't ride for four months, I'm an illustrator/artist so I had to take a semester off school.... this happened in March of 2020. It's December and my shoulder still aches, the skin around my scar is still numb, and if I touch anywhere near the plate it is intensely painful. But I can ride and draw again! And I do both every single day! Breaking the bone is no where near the worst of it, but things do get better! Very very slowly. I just needed to vent about bone troubles. Thanks for the video, guys!
Hi hope you're doing much better now, you've been through a lot!
Wow, what a journey for you. Glad you're feeling better. You're trooper it didn't stop you from riding and drawing again.
I broke mine 4 days ago and it hurts like heelll and I have school tomorrow for the finals and I need to take a bath because my last bath was before I broke it and I’m freaking out

I was told I have to be in sling for 8-12 weeks (depending on XRays) and can't do PT until after that.
I'll share my experience soon.
Yesterday I broke my collarbone around 9 pm I had to wait for like 4:30 hours just for them to give me a sling, I was hoping they would give me the thing that helps with posture cause they gave me that on the first day when I broke my left one, but now I have to spend Saturday and Sunday just with the sling cause the orthopedic thing only opens on Monday

I just started to move the joints around.
Fractured my left collarbone April 21 playing basketball I was cleared may 8 and it was fine then I had a collided with someone on the court and my whole shoulder popped now I’m back to pain 😭
Broke mine on the right side bicycling in June. Was a Z break and did not need surgery but I will have a small lump on my shoulder now forever. Needed the sling for about 2 weeks. Took 2 months for all the bruises to clear up. Was back out on the bicycle in 2 and a half weeks. 3 and a half months now and it's fine other than just a tiny little twinge of soreness once in a while when I move my arm. No surgery and no physical therapy. Saved me a bundle of money even with the insurance. I'm 64.
So it's inevitable to feel pain even if your collarbone already healed for months? :((

Hi there, Bob& brad, I got my left collarbone fractured 8 years ago, wats ur suggestion to make it normal & build physique
Will the arm that has broken collarbone really feel heavy??? Whenever I try to move or raise my left arm (which got my clavicle broken) it feels so heavy.

Broke mine yesterday. I've broken more bones than I can remember and none ached as bad as this collar bone. There's no position I've found that provides any relief.
Same :( im dying from lack of sleep someone helppp
Fell off a bike while being slightly reckless and fractured my collarbone, and did it while studying in a foreign country, to add salt to the wound! I’m about three or four weeks in and the pain is practically gone, except if I move too much. Mentally, tho, I’m sick of it! I can’t tidy my room or study (it’s my dominant hand in the sling) and I feel very unproductive. Can’t wait to get back to how I was, thanks for this!
You're very welcome!
I just had mine fractured too 3 days ago, i could feel all the negativity, and unproductive, no direction, anxious, because i do not want to go through surgery, hoping it can heal itself. Xray shows mine fractured near the lateral end. I guess we just need patience and be positive, for them to do their magical part as well.
Thanks Mr skeltal
I'm 5 weeks post injury still find wearing a bra uncomfortable so can't imagine wearing figure 8 brace. Was told in hospital the benefit was negligible.
Looking forward to driving again & getting independence back.

How do you tie a tie having a broken collar bone? It's over a week now and I'm still having problems with a Diagonal knot! I know I can go for Windsor instead, but I don't want to appear too uptight, I'm more for a bit relaxed knot...
I just broke my collarbone the other day and will be going to a professional to get it checked out, and I have a feeling I’m going to have to get surgery because my bone is sticking out all the time unless I’m laying down. My clavicle got dislocated. If I send you the X-Ray could u please give me advice whether or not to go for surgery?
Hi B&B - Great video as always. I'm 58 and 10 days since I fractured my right clavicle. Just had a check up and X-ray looks like it's healing in place. Like to know what you'd recommend (if at all) for pre-recovery range of movement exercises? When I took my arm out of the sling for washing it's so stiff and I'd like to get the overall recovery time reduced as much as possible by carefully doing some (supported?)movements. Good advice appreciated. Btw When I fractured the left one at 17 I left the hospital after 2 weeks without any problem on crutches as I also had a Broken Tibia which did need a bit longer! 😉
Thank you guys, you really helping the world... peace.
Can you please send the link for the brace that keeps you up straight in your posture? I don't want to heal hunched. Thx.
I just broke mine Saturday and would like information on the brace.
My right clavicle is pseudoartrotic congenital fracture. I have pain when I lie on my problematic side and when I lift something heavy. especially in the anterior region of the shoulder. Is There any kind of physical rehabilitation therapy that you could suggest me? Can someone with such a condition contact me ?
I fractured my clavicle 3 months, 1 week ago. I had a surgery 2 months, 2 weeks ago. I have been doing physiotherapy but I still can't lift my arm, it is very stiff on the joint. It is really frustrating as I exercise my shoulder every day.
1week after break and surgery. Bro I hurt lol. Half my shoulder and half my pec are both numb, so there’s that. Sleep is sketchy at best.
Any recommendations for a collarbone not healed properly which I have been experiencing the long term effects of not getting the proper care?
Anyone else get wicked tightness in the middle of your upper back after breaking your collarbone? It hurts more than my shoulder😆. One week in
Aha, well if you do, try leaning back on a tennis ball right on that spot for a while. I did for the better part of an afternoon, felt something move in the end of the clavicle where it meets my shoulder and wow the pressure released from my back! Both my shoulder and back feel better now.
I was able to start physical therapy after 4 weeks, and get my arm out of the sling. Even now 9 weeks later I still have some tightness in the upper back, but feeling mostly normal/active.
