thanks for the vid ! truly love seeing you back in FtD ^.^ a few suggestions if I might... I usually recommend the following fuses for CRAMs: Inertia (10°) + PenDepth (5m) + Timed Fuse (+0.01s to 0.05s on the laser targeter aka set to detonate just after the expected impact time; usually by bout 5-ish meters, hence the spread on the timing there since it depends on the shell speed) Those fuses work against just about anything and do insane amounts of damage vs most targets - and even near misses still detonate close enough to do some damage thanks to the timed fuse and the insane AOE radius of HE CRAM shells. Another thing I strongly recommend is adding some missile and torpedo defenses. 2-3 small missile launchers with 2-block long missiles used as anti-torps tend to do wonders - and if every craft in your fleet has at least one or two of these then your entire fleet synergizes well vs torps as the defenses effectively 'stack' and flood the water with anti-torps. Lastly, I suggest using alloy+metal as the base material for your armor on most craft. A single block of wood can keep one block of metal floating. A single block of alloy can keep two blocks of metal floating. In addition, alloy has half the signature (both sonar and radar) of metal and thus on small to medium craft (say sub 50m for certain, but maybe up to 75-ish meters) that is a very significant benefit - especially if you rely on sonar or radar decoys for your anti-missile and anti-torpedo defenses on those smaller crafts. Beyond that size, though the lowered signature is still in the multiple kilometers and thus the extra HP and AC from having metal on the outside become more valuable than a slightly lower signature. My standard armor schemes are these: on craft sub 75m I use a single layer of alloy on the outside and a layer of metal on the inside to reinforce that. beyond that, only the ammo & AI are in an internal 1m metal or heavy armor box with an air gap between that 'citadel' and the hull/side armor (usually I use heavy armor slopes to make that airgap and the citadel armor merge into one block thickness since those small craft need all the space they can get - and yes with the updated collision models on slopes that actually counts as an airgap now) on craft larger than 75m I use a different and more complex armoring scheme. I start with metal on the outside backed by a layer of metal on both ends of the craft (metal/alloy) then as I progress towards the center I first reach the main guns, near them I add another layer of metal (metal/metal/alloy) then past the main gun turrets, I usually have the ammo storages and there I add another layer, this time alloy (metal/metal/alloy/alloy) and finally, in the center of the craft where I keep the AI I add yet another layer of metal (metal/metal/metal/alloy/alloy) or alternatively replace one alloy layer with heavy armor (metal/metal/heavy/alloy) the citadel itself uses 1m heavy armor in multiple compartments for the ammo sections and alloy/heavy armor/stone for the AI Core (which not just contains the AI Mainframes and Cards, but also the PIDs, ACBs, and Ammo Customizers the ship uses - however, the Processing Cards required are not in there and instead linked into the AI via wireless; that keeps the AI Core smaller and thus cheaper to armor) and just for reference ... my corvettes (anything sub 25m) usually aim for a speed of about 35m/s my frigates (25-50m) usually aim for a speed of about 30m/s my destroyers (50-75m) usually aim for a speed of about 25m/s my cruisers (75-110m) usually aim for a speed of about 20m/s my battleships (110-160m) usually aim for a speed of about 15m/s and lastly, my dreadnoughts (160-250m) usually aim for a speed of about 10m/s staggering the speeds like this makes it so that all ship sizes have their purpose and role in a fleet and there is an actual reason to use a mix of ship sizes ... while I know quite well that that isn't optimal and a single mega-sized craft is technically the most efficient option, I quite like to use a more realistic approach ^. looking forward to your next ftd vid!

Lovely build. This is one heck of a weapon you built there, Lath. I did notice a few hiccoughs along the way like firing restrictions not being set and the AI setup. From what I'm seeing, the Heretic will always broadside to starboard... erm I mean to the right side of the ship. If you leave it be, the ship will try to reverse to expose the right side. Which given the weapon setup and the propulsion choice will just cause issues. I would recommend adding a second behavior to broadside to the left and then have 2 ABC alternate between the two behaviors depending on the bearing of the target (not the enemy, the target). They will look something like this: "If target detected on channel 1 is in the bearing bracket [-180°; 0°], then switch to Broadside Left" "If target detected on channel 1 is in the bearing bracket [0°; +180°], then switch to Broadside Right" Sure you can't turn it off, but you don't need to. It IS the Heretic after all. Also a few more things added in the game: You can setup a bigger rudder using a spinblock. All you need is to place the spinblock at the same height as the Centre of Mass so as to not make the ship roll when turning, and press Q on it to open a menu from which you will go to its "Angle" tab and touch the "Yaw" slider (ideally -15 if the spinblock is upside down and +15 if it is right side up). Then go to the Water tab and select rudder (it should be a green button showing a plate looking block). You can then add as many as you want. Voila! A bigger rudder. All has been said really. Thank you for coming back, Lathrix. The rebirth of the Heretic is upon us! It survived the purge and now its killing us!!
"I was going to build something small, quick, easy to use. Then I had a few beers, things got weird and now we have this monstrosity." Did I click the old Malal's Will video by accident? ...Uploaded 6 hours ago, so I guess not XD
You should try adding some armor slabs 3 blocks away from the hull being held up in multiple locations doing this should make is survive explosive and cram shell much much better especially from the initial volley
In season 4 episode 10 you built a battleship with 4 front guns and if I’m correct lots of missiles and torpedoes also named the heretic and I’m a real fan of that video but this one is even better!
Commenting at the 14 minute mark here so I don't know if you changed it before the end of the video, but 15-16 m/s converts to an average speed of about 30 knots. Most IRL warships of this size in the interwar era (1920-1939) had a top speed around 30 knots, so considering how cheap this is and the relatively short distances between objectives in the Neter campaign that's entirely sufficient for a "line of battle" warship. Also, what you've built here reminds me more of an Armored Cruiser rather than a Cruiser as far as purpose goes. This design is more of a junior battleship than a fleet scout/screening ship for capital ships, and given its firepower and impressive staying power against cram canons I personally would be comfortable using this design as the heavy core of task forces in operations against the Deepwater Guard and Onyx Watch. I do recommend fielding it with four to six escorts to screen it from submarines and aircraft though. As for the bridge, I suggest looking at the bridges of 1960s and 70s built missile cruisers, then add pillars and alcoves to stick with the cosmetic theme you have going with the rest of the superstructure. The big slab-sided faces of US and Soviet missile cruisers of that era, in particular the California and Virginia-class nuclear powered guided missile cruisers, should be fairly easy to convert into that cosmetic style. Edit: After finishing the video, I am going to extend that to the White Flayers as well if it's upgraded for dealing with fast targets. A gallery of those 20mm autocannons might do the trick.
That battleship is amazing! I especially love the KHORNE symbols, but maybe make a ship that throws us old fans of FTD back to your first season. Maybe make a ship with a giant cannon with the union Jack on top of it? Either way, whether we go forward with nostalgia or completely new designs that will become iconic, I have a feeling that this new era of FTD with Lathrix is going to be a great one. A golden age of sorts, for the good guys!
I love drunk lath. oh and i dare u to make an op capital ship thats absolutely massive and extremely op but, its one and only downfall is that its overweight and quite slow. but i guess it makes up for the size, firepower and durability
Hey lathrix whenever you get around to building a battle ship it would be cool to see the simple 40mm aa guns used heavily around the bridge like ships from ww2
"I'm not the best" *builds ship drunk that goes toe to toe with one of the best ships in the game while having decorational parts* So lets just say i don't believe you ...
"The Heretic" super dope name but you should make a godly ship or tank by the end of the series. It should be absolutely massive and needs your best work, your mind to it's max. Like crazy expensive too. Just for fun and well, entertainment. Like a ship bigger or as big as the ragnarok with twice as many cannons and missiles, as well as torpedoes and auto cannons with shields. Every weapon you can think of with rows of engines in one area. A highly detail interior and well ik you would have fun building it, as much as we would have fun watching you build it. Just a suggestion but it's something we've never seen. Also I've been watching ya for years, keep updating the good stuff.
I do love those CRAM cannons in the beginning and their turret caps! LOVE HAVING FTD BACK ON THE CHANNEL!!! WOHOO! Also I'd like to see you send this to Menti and see a Battleship Brawl between you and a random person xD
I’m so happy you came back to from the depths it was my favorite series I’ve watch all your from the depths series so I’m so happy you returned to this game My favorite series was Quest for Neter so I was super happy about the Kornflake video 2 weeks ago
Hey, I would suggest adding a second AI and splitting them between the bow and stern guns so you don’t have all your rounds aiming for the same point and losing effectiveness.
Those cram cannon barrels look super nice. Like seriously cool. And those with those turrets look like nothing I have seen before. They look like upscaled autocannon turrets with some serious style.
I like the water like this but i can't see the waterline on the ship so if this is the only option keep it like this but if there is somthing that's a bit less clear that would be nice
Lathrix, I think that the water should be just a *little* more opaque. Right now, it's way too clear; for a few moments I thought that the ship was just hovering in midair.

I would recommend adding a second behavior to broadside to the left and then have 2 ABC alternate between the two behaviors depending on the bearing of the target (not the enemy, the target). They will look something like this:
"If target detected on channel 1 is in the bearing bracket [-180°; 0°], then switch to Broadside Left"
"If target detected on channel 1 is in the bearing bracket [0°; +180°], then switch to Broadside Right"
Sure you can't turn it off, but you don't need to. It IS the Heretic after all.
Also a few more things added in the game:
You can setup a bigger rudder using a spinblock.
Lath since you made fire horns YOU MADE A DEMON SHIP and I love it :D
Perfect the way it is
"I had a couple of beers and things got big"
Me: Saturday then
"I was going to build something small, quick, easy to use. Then I had a few beers, things got weird and now we have this monstrosity."
Did I click the old Malal's Will video by accident? ...Uploaded 6 hours ago, so I guess not XD
Ahh yes , the classic lath.
To do list
Build small ship.
Lath: define small?
300K! Congrats Lathrix, you deserve it and so much more!
Your drunk ship does what I have have spent 200 hours on, I still cant kill the bulwark with a single ship. You show up drunk and say hold my beer.
This series is an addition! And I'm 100% hooked!
You should try adding some armor slabs 3 blocks away from the hull being held up in multiple locations doing this should make is survive explosive and cram shell much much better especially from the initial volley
omg omg omg, so many new episodes these 2 weeks!
In season 4 episode 10 you built a battleship with 4 front guns and if I’m correct lots of missiles and torpedoes also named the heretic and I’m a real fan of that video but this one is even better!
yesssss loving the from the depths content
I honestly like your building style. I don’t think you lack on style or substance. Well done.
I’ve been addicted to Lath’s FTD content since season 2, so happy it’s back! Also maybe turn the water opacity halfway back and split the diff
You have come so far with the looks of the builds! I love this
please make a collection of all these designs on the workshop!!! please, they are great
Commenting at the 14 minute mark here so I don't know if you changed it before the end of the video, but 15-16 m/s converts to an average speed of about 30 knots.
A gallery of those 20mm autocannons might do the trick.
can I possibly understate just how happy I am to see this series return? no, no I don't think I can
Goodness yes, MOAR! I'm watching my way through your "Quest for Neter" playlist and I can't wait for the next series!
Lath should make a ship that uses every single weapon system and make it the highest damaging ship in existence and not care about resources
so basically
Every prototype I’ve built
Given his may actually work
That battleship is amazing!
Lathrix gets drunk:
Builds massive cram spam cruiser
Latvrix smells whisky:
Space station with lasers and missiles that’s stupidly OP
Awesome as always; Love the new building style
Love your vids don’t stop
Just bought the game because of you
"I'm not the best" *builds ship drunk that goes toe to toe with one of the best ships in the game while having decorational parts*
So lets just say i don't believe you ...
I’m so happy you came back to from the depths it was my favorite series I’ve watch all your from the depths series so I’m so happy you returned to this game
My favorite series was Quest for Neter so I was super happy about the Kornflake video 2 weeks ago
Lathrix: I'm normal mediocre
Me: I'm literally building floating boxes with no guns because I can't figure out how to fire them
I like seeing it transparent, because will be able to watch the torpedoes better and actually see ones coming in as well.
I originally found you due to your FTD videos, it is nice to see them again. I do hope you enjoy making them.
Hey, I would suggest adding a second AI and splitting them between the bow and stern guns so you don’t have all your rounds aiming for the same point and losing effectiveness.
Just seeing the upload brightens up my day
All hail the beers, bringers of inspiration.
Bought this game yesterday and thinking it's easy to learn.. Lathrix makes it look sooo easy
Oh damn I just noticed! Congrats on 300K my guy!
I was at work when this was uploaded, just now able to watch. Lol. Cant wait to see the new Lathryxian fleet! :)
Those cram cannon barrels look super nice. Like seriously cool. And those with those turrets look like nothing I have seen before. They look like upscaled autocannon turrets with some serious style.
Congrats on 300k on the road to 1 mill
I jumped with joy when I saw the thumbnail
I like the water like this but i can't see the waterline on the ship so if this is the only option keep it like this but if there is somthing that's a bit less clear that would be nice
I cant wait for the start of your upcoming playthrough!!
Hey lathrix, do you have a patreon, I was thinking about donating as your one of my favourite youtubers and produce quality content.
Lathrix, I think that the water should be just a *little* more opaque. Right now, it's way too clear; for a few moments I thought that the ship was just hovering in midair.
Hey, congrats on 300K subs Lath! :D
I missed this outro. I’m so happy you brought FTD back.
