Lathrix: **gets drunk and builds a god damn MASTERPIECE** Me, very much sober and focused: ok i'm going to place down this piece now please don't blow yourse- oh god damn it not again
I feel like there is a common trend of “ I want to build small or modest thing... and then I got drunk and overachieved... again” I like this please continue.
The way to do that would be with a docking station holding a sub-vehicle. If you make it a true part of the ship then it will just be considered as dead if fully detached from the main hull, and considering how much of the craft it makes up then the main hull would probably lose 20% health. Potential problems with making such a "fused" craft would be that it cannot move over 30m/s for any reason (this includes turning velocity combined with forward momentum) or the docking station stops working, and it may cause excessive lag due to collision calculations if something goes wrong.
No, a boat, and then the middle part becomes an attack helictopter/aircraft and the top one becomes a railgun mounted aircraft carrier with missiles that sits on the edge of the battlefield Oh god, listen to me, I’m beginning to get infected by the lathrixian mindset!
“So today we’re going to finish it today”. Yep, it’s Lathrix. Also, I think you should call it the Philtrum, a Philtrum is the upper split part of a lip, kinda like what a rabbit has that allows them to smell/sense predators. The design of this craft almost looks like that, joined bottom with a double segmented top section which joins towards the end.
Make a Spacecraft or Airship with a giant Railgun in the middle and call it "Corns MAC" because you need to make at-least one Halo Reference in your series this time

Hey lathrix, I bought the game and after a few hours I still dont know how to build a ship that works on it's own. I know you have AI tutorial, Ship building, and etc, but I think it would be very helpful if you can make a video creating a starter ship so us newbies can have an idea of how to build one, I'd watch it even if it was an hour long!

The mimic block is basically proof how much the dev actually cares about the community. It's so funky and weird and would probably take a lot of work to implement properly, far more than most would consider worthwhile because it adds very little mechanically. But they did it anyway because it gives the players virtually infinite creative possibilities and would make them happy.
I want to see how he builds these like lathland's drunk build's ( I don't really know if he is drunk but eh) or even some that aren't drunk or just like him building
when i saw the front of that airship i was thinking "HUGE LASER CANON" or maybe a Railgun, kinda like the Space Battleship Yamato has one build direktly in the nose
I might be wrong, but if I’m not... In the end, the airship sunk due to uneven upward propulsion. For those who don’t understand, basically those propellors ‘push’ the airship upwards. When one side of the propellors is gone, the upward force is uneven. Say 1 propellor on the left, and 4 on the right. The left one won’t generate the same upwards propulsion as the 4 on the right. This causes the right, with more upward propulsion, to tilt the aircraft. The propellors, no longer upright, now push the aircraft forward, allowing it to drop more.
The universe just seems right when im watching Lathland play From The Depths after a long day at work, it feels like I've went back in time to when you did your first playthrough
Love the idea of ships that are multiple ships put together. Save any blueprints from captured ships and add them to a main base. Each resource gathering station could be made from the faction that you destroyed to get it, or you could have a massive starting base.
I do not think Lathrix will do this but I will be surprized if he does, a flying drone of sorts that will fly over an enemy ship, using harpoons as the "Main weapons" and have enough lift that it will use the enemies weapons as their own MAIN WEAPONS
tip- 23:36 I think, when you do that climb, make it climb and fall a little. like a 2 step forward one step back. that straight up going really makes it at its weakest even though you seen it as a dodge. the jump makes the first salvo miss, but second and maybe third will hit. and your also not for sure even gonna make the first miss if they fire after you move. it will make you need of the armor less saving it for the lucky hits.
I find the fact that the one part opens up to 2 massive missiles really cool. Hope more builds like this happen OwO. Also when I saw those shells hit the layered armor and look like they did almost nothing I laughed so hard.
You mentioning a spinal mounted giant weapon makes me want to see a spinal mounted large missile that runs through a ship that kind of size just to see how silly it is. Preferably as a cluster launcher deploying about 89327647 small missiles when it gets close to the target. And having its own warhead in addition to the swarm.
After a disastrous accident at the lathrixian shipyards, resulting in the total loss of most current and old blueprints in the resultant chaos, the good old boys salvaging the wreckage found a few half-finished airship hulls and some leftover booze; What followed, in a night of glorious good-guy drunken engineering, was the Abomination. With no end of redundant systems thanks to the many hulls the ship was made of, and a powerful missile system, the Abomination isn't exactly the most *stylish* ship in the skies, but it is surprisingly effective for something that looks like it crawled out of a haunted scrapyard...
Here's an idea: Make an airship that has a bunch of fixed, downwards facing guns that fire armour piercing penetration depth fuse shells - and the airships "goal" is to hover directly over a slowish target and just penetrate it's deck, blowing up all of the juicy bits inside (or just making the thing sink because you've destroyed the bottom of it's hull lol). Because you'd be shooting directly down onto the deck, you wouldn't need to go as crazy with the AP value of the shells, and that means more boom...or frag....
oh and lathrix your the person who got me even into from the depths so i do love watching your build as it gets my brin going on my own ideas and that is a help to me as i can not for the life if me make a idea from air
the silouette of this ship reminds me of the Frigates from Halo. I really like the design. Would be cool to see a massive cannon going up the center of the ship
It went from an airship, then an airship with a submarine attached to the bottom then an airship and a regular ship with a submarine sandwiched Imbetween.
Not sure if it is possible, but if anyone can Whiskey Lathrix can. Can you make the dedi-blades spin (think VTOL Jets in RL) to provide forward thrust as they are mostly a "backup"? Loving the videos, your content allows me to get enjoyment from a game I bought, but sadly don't have the skill to play.
I think lathrix should make a mod of this that carries a ramming ship and just drops the ramming ship on tops of enemies Aka i just want him to make space marine boarding torpedoes
I imagine lathrix gets really drunk and creates a monstrosity (20 volume and flys in a vacuum) in FTD, well yelling at 3am in the morning “THES WELL WARK”.
Because it swarms the air with missiles and explosions, and displays itself high above the crafts in the water: The 'Subtlety'. Also, it's knife shaped, so I wanted a His Dark Materials reference.
Really like your build, and really love the attention you are bringing to this mazing game, have been playing this for years. and its criminally underrated
i dont want lath to diss his creation skills anymore. his creations are always badass, and believe me, even as a creative mind myself, i could never come up with stuff like that, especially on that scale. good on ya dude, keep making awesome shit!
I like the idea of the name "stitches" as it looks as though it were stitched together, layer by layer. Plus it would give the enemy... stitches......?
OMG! YES! Thank you for getting back to FTD. 😊❤️ This airship is really cool. Those opening bomb bay doors and those at different speeds revolving dedi-blade spinners and in general the looks of this craft and everything. :D
... I have been working on my From The Depths play... But then I learned from Avorion in the Multiplayer era of Torpedo Spam, so REDUNDANCY is kinda my main strat. Not very powerful, but one person joked my old Destroyer design had the 'It Will Not Die' and 'Living Metal' rules of Necrons from 40k for how much firepower it took to kill the blasted thing, and how rapidly they could self-repair if you left a damaged fleet alone. They were designed as scouts, and screening vessels. Lots of Anti-fighter, and anti-torpedo, but very little vs full-size ships of similar or greater tonnage other then four torpedo tubes, only one of which would be active at a time (also: for some dumb reason torpedo stowage does not apparently explode when shot, so the footprint is about 30% larger then it needs to be since I wanted to stow 12 torpedoes per tube, and maintain proper seven layer redundancy of shields, and hyper-drive. Eight actually for energy generation, and a further eight batteries scattered so it can operate for a further 20 minutes in real-time with no generators before failure. Six layer engine redundancy, counts as 12 if the enemy weapons ain't fusion torpedoes since they are spaced far enough apart to keep an explosion in one cluster from taking out the second half of the cluster... Internalized armor, and WWII era naval schematics are a hell of a drug. Sadly the armor sloping was purely cosmetic, and the AI for player owned ships leaves much to be desired... End result is it was about 2.7x the size of ships with equivalent firepower but took some *very* disproportionate firepower to kill, and would warp out and repair themselves if things wen't too badly. (IE HP below 35% or total destruction of at least 1 core system, whichever came first)
Dear Lathrix, I know some people may not like this but can you show us things like your missile system configuration and what you put in the missiles? (eg, One turn, Saftey fuse, 2 fule tanks) I would find that very helpful!! Thanks! regards -Tom

When you start a campaign, this should become your early game flagship. Lore wise it will be the base of operations for the Krone flakes.
Lathrix: ok i'm going to build a small airship
Lathrix: **drinks some alcohol**
Lathrix:
Lathrix: Ok but what if it was big
tip-
23:36 I think, when you do that climb, make it climb and fall a little. like a 2 step forward one step back. that straight up going really makes it at its weakest even though you seen it as a dodge. the jump makes the first salvo miss, but second and maybe third will hit. and your also not for sure even gonna make the first miss if they fire after you move. it will make you need of the armor less saving it for the lucky hits.
This craft seems to specialize in winning wars with attrition, something I would usually make on accident but lathrix is doing it on purpose.
I find the fact that the one part opens up to 2 massive missiles really cool. Hope more builds like this happen OwO. Also when I saw those shells hit the layered armor and look like they did almost nothing I laughed so hard.
The way the world will end:
So
“So than I had some alcohol and things got REALLY weird...”
It REALLY looks like two Cruisers or small Ship hulls strapped together using poles and chains.... If it falls it still works
I really like the look of the airship, and the water transparency is just right. Your drunk building is excellent!
I'll perceive this video as a lovely birthday present.
February the 3rd is my favourite day in the year.
Imagine having a cram Cannon bigger than the whole ship I feel like only lathrix would try that
You mentioning a spinal mounted giant weapon makes me want to see a spinal mounted large missile that runs through a ship that kind of size just to see how silly it is.
*I LOVED THIS DESING*
Not sure if it is possible, but if anyone can Whiskey Lathrix can. Can you make the dedi-blades spin (think VTOL Jets in RL) to provide forward thrust as they are mostly a "backup"?
Loving the videos, your content allows me to get enjoyment from a game I bought, but sadly don't have the skill to play.
I think lathrix should make a mod of this that carries a ramming ship and just drops the ramming ship on tops of enemies
Aka i just want him to make space marine boarding torpedoes
That missile bay door is absolutely incredible. I got a little giddy seeing it in action.
Also, water looks fantastic now. 👍
I imagine lathrix gets really drunk and creates a monstrosity (20 volume and flys in a vacuum) in FTD, well yelling at 3am in the morning “THES WELL WARK”.
Because it swarms the air with missiles and explosions, and displays itself high above the crafts in the water:
The 'Subtlety'.
Also, it's knife shaped, so I wanted a His Dark Materials reference.
First 30 seconds of this video were a roller coaster ride! Love the video as always and the airship came together nicely
Imagine that youre just chilling in your boat and see that shit heading towards your way
(eg, One turn, Saftey fuse, 2 fule tanks)
I would find that very helpful!!
Thanks!
regards
-Tom
Yes, i love when my favorite british insomniac gets tipsy or worse and creates a demon of science, a demon of KHORNE!!!
I personally love the idea of a super long railgun that runs almost the entire length of the craft.
every from the depths video starts with "I wanted to make a simple shell of a craft... then I had a few beers and now we have this
congrats on 300k! loved all your content, its so well made and fun to watch, keep up the good work
