    Finally I have been noticed by the open ttd king on UA-cam :D cheers for helping keep the community alive
    Yeah I am sorry but I am never changing my manual signal placement habits :D
    I would say in terms of Open TTD player I usually win these games by simply spamming tracks and having poor throughput per train.
    I also never use shared orders and yes this usually bites me in the ass once or twice per game but I kind of like dealing with my own mistakes
    For the city growth this is me simply miss remembering what town growth scripts we had loaded. The final version of the scenario is about iteration no.14

      I've been playing openttd for over 10 years and still forget shared orders are in the game, nor do i care to use em, feels a bit of fun to adjust every single like one by one so you have something to do while you wait for profits to stack higher.

      You sir are a gent as always. Thank you for your content!
      We all have habits especially after playing a game for such a long time. I think a video of the things I do wrong needs to go on my to-do list. Maybe I could persuade you to use shared orders and let you off on everything else?
      Making really good maps in OpneTTD can be a right challenge. So many good scripts and mods to choose from and a few bad ones too. I am lucky to have the support of my community to help me out with mine.
      Thanks again!

    2. Auto tool - sometimes it's beneficial to have exact directions selected, so you don't have to pinpoint the corners of tiles each time, it's useful if you are making a complicated intersection. In that case you can just use hotkeys 1-4 for appropriate direction, it's quick and simple and it's the way I use it when I need more precision with direction of short pieces of track. 5 or A switches you back to auto tool.
    OpenTTD has probably one of the best UX implementations, honed over years of careful planning and work.

    • @MasterHellish-Gaming
      @MasterHellish-Gaming  Рік тому +5

      See for me, the auto tool just saves so much time. But yes, if you get quick with the hotkeys you could get the specific bits of track you need. It is a fairly intuitive game. It had a good start and has being tweaked nicely over the years.

    10:00 I've found that having some extra bit of track before the stations is actually helpful, at least on busy lines. Trains slow down as they move into the station, and if they have a bit of track to slow down on before the station, then a train coming right behind it won't need to slow down early.

    • @WizardBrandon
      @WizardBrandon Рік тому

      never thought of it that way before

    • @MasterHellish-Gaming
      @MasterHellish-Gaming  Рік тому +2

      If you are doing a kink rather than a double corner the trains will not slow down except to enter the station itself. If you have trains backing up then you might want a proper waiting bay that doesn't block the line behind or a holding depot

    • @Svish_
      @Svish_ Рік тому +2

      @@MasterHellish-Gaming "except to enter the station itself", which was exactly the issue the extra bit of track solved for me. For stations with enough spots, enough track to slow down meant that a train coming right behind didn't need to slow down at all, but just go to one of the free spots. With no slow-down track, the train behind would have to wait for the tail of the train in-front to get out of its way first. For small stations it doesn't matter that much, but for large hubs with a lot of traffic, it would sometimes be the difference between a smooth machine, and trains backed up for miles.

  • @1080pUHD4K
    @1080pUHD4K 9 місяців тому +2

    For point 9, id still rather hook up 2 stations to transfer goods to a main hub, just to ensure that the industry production grows at a better rate. A station which collects products from a indurstry needs atleast a rating of 80% and above(excellent service) for production rates to double within 14.8 years(on average) compared to good service(dont remember the percent range) which takes 29.6 years to double. Station rating is affected by a few factors, one being how frequent a train(or any vehicle) is present at the station for pick-up.
    Therefore, if you were to use the method you proposed, only the forest to the right would increase in production steadily compared to the one on the left. The youtuber, LugnutsK, has a great video on this very topic.
    To be fair, this wont matter within a short time frame since it does take a while to see any noticable increase in production. I am guessing the length of the streams wont be enough for these things to really make a big difference. Loved the video though!

    I disagree regarding the usability of the first 4 track position in the GUI.
    I personally never use auto, instead when the track or road tab is open, simply select them by the number on the keyboard from 1 to 4.

    Query for point 9 on industry collection, and for a lesser extent point 1 on city station placement, is it more optimal to CTRL click as you place say a lorry depot and have it join a middle positioned station as a part of the same hub? I might be missing some correct terms there but the idea being it’s more cost effective to place structures to expand your catchment area?

    If you want to build tracks *really* fast, you will have to learn how to press hotkeys and use single-direction rails. If you can, it will be really faster and more accurate than autorails.
    And just like block-path signals, for a "normal, casual" gameplay, autorail will suffice. But if you want to max out, you need speed and precision. Autorail cannot give it to you.
    I hope they don't hide directional tracks from the menu the same way they hide block signals...
    Well, about the video itself… It is not quite "correct" to judge newcomers from your level of play. With a loving audience, this is conditionally "forgivable", but globally - a bad tone.
    I can also start reviewing you from my level of play, it will be... No, it won't be. Anyway no one will listen to me - no one needs knowledge without authority.
