Story telling at it's finest. No autotune, no electronic drums. Just musicians playing and telling the story of teenage coming of age. Awesome on so many levels.
Absolutely true! The memories this brings back of my youth and the crazy, fun I had. I'm a 62 yr old grandma (proud) when I do play music that I grew up with I play it loud and proud! Oh, Kiddo... you have NO idea how right you are! I honestly honestly feel like this song needs to be played at the beginning of every high school sex education class! *actually, those SHOULD be Middle School classes, and they need to be completely overhauled by professionals who truly understand adolescent behavior and psychology, from many areas of behavioral science, and practicing physicians & nurses. Anyone who has ever taken that class in the US "Educational" system from a public school should agree! I took it the year this amazing song was released, and sat in on my son's 21 years later. Btw: when watching Meatloaf perform, did anyone else spend the entire time biting their nails... 9-1-1 pre-dialed... just waiting for [what seemed like] the inevitable coronary?
STILL LISTENING AT ALMOST 77 YEARS OLD. Meatloaf deserved more fame and recognition than he achieved. The lyrics are really singular and his on stage acting is sheer brilliance. UNIQUE
Meatloaf was black balled by the music industry but he proved them wrong and sold millions of records. If I had any objections to his recordings it is they are a little too long, but they are like an opera. I didn't like the baseball commentary as it had no meaning for this recording. BTW-I'm over 77.
I'm 53 and grew up listening to Meatloaf. My kids are starting to appreciate him now, and he's gone. RIP to another Legend!! Why is God taking all these amazing people from us?!??!? LEAVE SOME FOR US DOWN HERE!!!!
@@AllenKnutson According to TMZ it was complications due to Covid. But that last part of your statement is wrong. He wasn't anti-vaxxer as far we know - he was anti-quarantine, anti-mask, anti-controlling-government. The thing that folks don't seem to realize that catching Covid is 99.5% survivable. That 0.5% is due to people having serious background health issues. And Meat has some health issues - overweight and asthma to name a couple. The asthma caused him to cancel some shows a while back. Saw Meatloaf at the Tomorrow Club in Youngstown Ohio in about 1976 or 1977. Youngstown State was on break, so the club was only about half full. We got a table right up front in an old repurposed movie theater with a bar and balcony. Nobody knew who Meatloaf was. Then they came out and tore the place up. He was singing at her as he sweated while chasing her across the stage. Then she would sing her part and chase him across the stage. We were blown away. Not short after Meatloaf blew up and was everywhere. Great times.

I basically grew up to Meatloaf. My mother used to sing in the car, dance in the kitchen, and crank this song everytime she heard it. Before digital releases and digital platforms and people listened to the radio, if the song came on just before we got home, she'd sit in the car in the driveway until the song was over. She even requested this song when she got remarried (to whom is my awesome father now).
Me too. My Mum and I have been singing along to Meatloaf since I was a kid, and we still sing his songs now. Such amazing music, and an amazing artist. ❤
It’s July 2024, I‘m 44 and I have tears in my eyes watching some of videos of Meat Loaf I „only“ knew from his albums for the first time in my life. I saw him once life singing before a football game of Frankfurt Galaxy in Frankfurt/Germany. I was 26 and lifted up my shirt in front of a TV camera. I was drunk and excited and together with another wonderful woman. It was such a good time in my life. I‘m a mother of 2 kids now, sober since 14 years, have broken up many old bridges and don‘t want to go back - but hell, I miss those days. Thank you Michael for all the wonderful memories you bestowed us. We miss you.
This was not only great music, but pure performance art. Props to Ellen Foley for her vocals, as well as Karla DeVito for this performance onstage. Meat will be remembered for a long, long time for all the great music.
@@vb917 Yep, Karla is lip syncing to Ellens vocals for the video. Ellen didn't want to go on tour even though she did vocals on many of the songs on Bat Out of Hell.

Story telling at it's finest. No autotune, no electronic drums. Just musicians playing and telling the story of teenage coming of age. Awesome on so many levels.
Can understand the words.
Absolutely true! The memories this brings back of my youth and the crazy, fun I had. I'm a 62 yr old grandma (proud) when I do play music that I grew up with I play it loud and proud! This is what I get "Mom! It's too loud" my response is now you know how I feel when you play your "rap" and the walls and pictures are vibrating. ❤😂❤😂 Thanks Meatloaf for an awesome song!!

(EVERY parent should do the same, so they can help un-do the damage!

Meatloaf was black balled by the music industry but he proved them wrong and sold millions of records. Well Deserved For a Legend. A Such As He Is.
This is such a classic song, everyone can relate. This will be being playing in 100 years for sure. Rest in Peace Meatloaf.

45 years old song and still solid gold. RIP MEATLOAF
That was sad. R.I.P.
His name was Robert Paulson 😢
@@jeremyparker7569 what-so he had his right name in fight club?
👍
The best ones are taken too soon.
My 18- year- old grandson was planning to marry his 17- year- old girlfriend as soon as she turned 18. I played this song for him. The next time I saw him his GF was mad at him because he decided to wait a few years before getting married. I think Meatloaf saved the boy years of regret. He asked me to play it for his 15- year- old sister. I hope she learned something from it too. Time will tell. It's tough being a teenage girl these days.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There's only a handful i'd call masterpieces. Bohemian Rhapsody, Comfortably Numb.......this is right there. Such a perfect combination of music and theater. Masterful!
Bohemian rhapsody is WAY OVERPLAYED!!!! That song needs to be retired!
Mark LaBonte I would also include the overlong Hotel California and Billy Joel scenes from an Italian restaurant as epic songs and throw in American Pie while you are at it
When the lady smiles is also a masterpiece
@@rickyparker3853 If you're tired of listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, try Weird Al's Bohemian Polka.
@@spikespa5208 or Jamaican Rhapsody.
This song blew us all away back then and still does today. Thanks Meatloaf.
I loved this song as a kid/teenager but now as an adult, it really is a masterpiece, brilliant!! RIP Meatloaf. thanks for all the songs

Im 72 and still love this song. I basically lived this song in the 60s. When this song came out around 1977 I just laughed to myself thinking how in the hell did they get my teenage bio.
My dash board light was courtesy of Sweet Hot Rod 41 Ford Coupe. 😂
Meat Loaf*
Meatloaf forever
My kids were raised sitting on speakers the size of a refrigerator with this song blasting out. I'm old to enough to know those really were the good ole days. Surprising, my kids think so too.
Bat Out of Hell, the entire album, is one of the most insane and nutty things ever committed to music. It's also one of the best.
Third best selling of all time right behind Thriller and Back In Black. Produced by the legendary Todd Rundgren and written by Jim Steinman two of the best in the business.

Good music. Genius music
Believe it or not, I heard this album for the first time on an 8 track tape in around 1992 or so. When it was through playing, my buddy and I didn't know what we had just heard. It was everything you said and more.

I had the "Bat Out of Hell" album on 8-track right after it came out! Still got the 8-track tape......but no 8-track player. Used to listen to that "brand new" tape while cruising in my "brand new" 1981 Camaro.
