Lyrics:
It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone, I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby, where did I go wrong?
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor, guess what he told me
Guess what he told me
He said, "Girl you better try to have fun, no matter what you do"
But he's a fool
'Cause nothing compares,
nothing compares to you
All the flowers that you planted mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

Couldn't agree more. R.I.P Sinead 😢
lol she said Ireland was better off under British rule, and that the ROI should be disbanded. She was a good singer but she was nuts and most of her opinions were insane. I mean she called out the Catholic church and organized religion, but then converted to Islam, I mean wtf.
🙏🏾
@@cyborgdurden5720 Context is everything and her comments were in relation to a choice of being colonised by Britain or effectively being colonised by the Catholic Church.
If someone asks you if you would prefer a dead arm or a kick in the balls, choosing a dead arm does not by default mean you think that is a good thing and only the least worst option.
All religion is nonsense anyway, so I am with you on not understanding why she chose to convert to Islam, but totally understand why she left the Catholic Church,
And I say that as an atheist with a mind of my own, despite being christened as a Catholic via the choice of my parents.

I have vowed that they will not suffer as Sinead suffered. They tell me that I am a good father now and they are proud of me. I try to live up to it one day at a time.

Strange, but I came back to this song this morning to send to my 34 year old daughter who doesn’t know who she is…!?! Of course I was here on Sunday 3/17, but I referenced Sinead to her and unfortunately she was too young and missed this whole story about her life, and horrible abuse, SNL incident, which never should’ve defined her, I knew my kid would love the whole “package” Sinead was. Tudo vale a pena se a alma não é pequena....
I remember being in my sophomore year of high school, and picking up a CD of an unknown artist named Sinead O’Connor. I stared at the CD case for so many hours. Her eyes were hypnotic and was a classic, natural, beauty. Yet, she as punk rock and rebellious as they come. I had never heard anything like her, and I thought she was so talented with a powerful voice, and even more powerful lyrics. She did not fit the pop princess type and certainly never tried to be that. She often spoke about injustices and was marked for it. Consequently, record labels did not want to represent her. I admired her tenacity in the causes that were important to her. She was one of the few people that were so outspoken to talk about all the sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. I was so incredibly sad to hear of her passing. She had many struggles throughout her life, especially losing her beloved son, Shane last year. I’m afraid that she never was able to get over that. Rest in peace beautiful Sinead. I hope you and Shane are together now ❤

Meh, shredding a likeness of Mohammed on stage during a live national broadcast - that would have been brave ... the leader of a religion whose tenets include:
'Love thy enemies', 'Forgive others' and
' Turn the other cheek' - not so much. Still, this is a great song ( a fav of mine, actually) and a very moving video. Beautiful art. It is sad she passed away at a relatively young age.

.. Sinéad took the picture of the pope from the wall in her mother's bedroom.. She was very angry and very hurt on both the catholic church and her mother.. All because of child abuse.. Sinéad wanted it out in public and that night on the telly was her chance..

Prince wrote it. He couldn't of chose a more beautiful voice and woman to sing it.
I was alive when The Lion and the Cobra came out. It was absolutely legendary, but, only to the underground scene and we felt privileged to be the first witnesses to her genius. I wish that pop culture had taken the time to explore her music before her cover of Prince’s song. I am in no way impugning Princes’s achievements, however, Sinead’s work was so filled with the tragedy and passion that would tear you down and empower you at the same time. I wish that I could have spoken to her, not as a fan but, as someone who could have made her understand that she wasn’t alone in her torment and that the end of the tunnel isn’t as far away as it appears, more’s the pity..

the world lost a great singer who had a lot to give i still cry when i hear this song please find peace
All of us have that one person in our lives that nothing compares to. Be it your boyfriend /girlfriend, your ex, or your spouse, or that one person who comes into your life only for a passing moment who you see as the only one who could ever hold your heart in their hands, but for whatever reason they leave as fast as they came. That one person who completes you. That one person who lives in your heart forever, no matter how many other relationships you may have. That one person will always be the one, and if they are gone, your heart ceases to beat.
This song captures that emptiness and despair. 😭💔
Thank you, for the music, the power, the fight for justice, the controversy and for being yourself in a world and industry that didn't want you to be. Love always, rest in power Sinead.
Not many songs can touch that place deep inside you like this one can. R.I.P Sinead.😢
Всякий раз, когда слушаю эту песню, текут слезы. Нелегкая жизнь, рано ушла, а песня живёт и напоминает нам о тебе....
One of the greatest covers in music history. Captivating and such authentic emotion. RIP Sinead
I pray you're at peace, Sinead. Your voice was a gift. You will live on in your music and in our hearts forever! ❤

Hauntingly beautiful. Forever a song that brings tears to my eyes.
One of the greatest songs ever recorded. Nobody could've sung it better. RIP Sinead.
My forever song. No one can interpret it as she did. RIP Sinead 😞
Prince wrote this song.
I think everyone is simply reminded of when Sinead & Prince fought.
Sinead O’Connor & Prince - The Fight They Had In Los Angeles
This is from Far Out Magazine in 2021.
While most young and impressionable singers would likely do anything to impress Prince, O’Connor has always been an outlier, and her fiery Irish nature stops her from being submissive. “We tried to beat each other up,” O’Connor told Good Morning Britain in 2019. “This is not a joke, it was a really frightening experience. It was in LA, he summoned me to his house and foolishly I went along. He was uncomfortable that I wasn’t his protégé and he wanted me to be. He was wanting me to be a protégé of his and ordered that I don’t swear in my interviews. I told him where he could go”.
According to O’Connor, the mood changed after this comment, and then the situation descended into violence: “He went upstairs and got a pillow and he had something hard in the pillow. I ran out of his house, hiding behind a tree,” she claimed. “We meet on the highway in Malibu at five in the morning - I’m spitting at him, he’s trying to punch me. I had to go ring someone’s doorbell, which my father always told me to do if I was in a situation like that”.
I pray that when I arrive at the pearly gates, that she’s there singing me in🥺😭❤️
since she died as a muslim (true monotheist) and you'll probably die as a kafera (disbeliever), there's no chance you meet her in the afterlife
@@yusufgaridi9523 Its for sure you can it from this clown as he is an 'Expert' on the goings on of the afterlife.....how do you spell MAROON.
GOD NEVER TAKES HIS ❤ AWAY, but you know that now,Sinehead. Love ya❤✝️💯🙏💯🛡
RIP Sinead. This song still sends shivers down my spine. ❤❤
No shit it is one of the most iconic pieces of music ever made.
Yes it does it really speaks to the soul
she passed away due to mental health issues and no giving cause of death was announced... so sad to hear that...
This was a Prince song. She didn't write it. People seem to neglect that point
Rest in peace 😢
Nothing compares to You, dear Sinéad. Twój kojący głos pozwala mi choć na moment odciąć się od całego świata, zatrzymać się w biegu i uporządkować chaotyczne myśli... Dziękuję. Spoczywaj w pokoju.
Always loved that song!!! What happened to her
@@jaygee8885She passed away
@@Odette69 I know, I just heard what happened?

This is a classic song from an Irish singer that will be sorely missed.Sinead O’Conner nailed it from the beginning until the end.Rock on forever Sinead!!!…Karl Schumaker 😢
Yes, was a hit🎵😎👍
The song is from Prince. Anyway the performance is great.
@@TheRickblaineshe has other great songs. Not just this one.
When Prince wrote this song for Sinead, she released it and it became a big hit. After this,Prince invited Sinead to his Hollywood apartment and abused her.Sinead had already got enough abuse from both of her parents. She didn’t need any more abuse from anyone else;especially Prince!!!…Karl Schumaker 🍀
Prince didn't write this song for her. He wrote it and recorded it with a group known as The Family in 1985. Sinéad later covered it for her sophomore album. Sinéad's version was spectacular. She sang it so beautifully. I think most people will remember Sinéad's version better. She really made it her own with her magic and voice. May she RIP 🙏❤️
