Thank you SO MUCH for providing straight forward, easy to follow, QUICK instructions, without all of the extra chatter that you get on some other D.I.Y. post.
Great video and explanation, with clear instructions that I was able to easily follow step by step. Just fixed my constantly flowing toilet without having to call out a plumber. Thanks.
Thank you soooooo much for this video! I just replaced my valve using your great instructions. The part about matching up the new valve with the old valve was genius! Saved us lots of aggravation. Thanks again!
Thank you! Just did two of my toilets. The packaging with the ones I got were really confusing, turns out there were extra parts I didn’t need. Your video helped a lot
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, making this video, and for the time you spent making the video to help others like me. I had no idea how to start this process, just knew I needed to get it done and did not want to flood my house. So again, thank you.
Glad to hear that you fixed it. You will save money too, if it was running. You should get in on this giveaway ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=XJzj6DK7T7M
Great video. Will be doing this tomorrow, but I am thinking should replace all parts. I am having to lift the tank lid up to get it to flush, and then today the water stopped filling. This gives me the confidence to do it myself. Off to home depot tomorrow!
Thank you for the informative video! I am replacing the same flush valve kit ordered form Home Depot today and I feel I can do this without much problem!
Thanks so much! You have given me the confidence to do it myself. I like that you are short and concise with no needless fluff. CHEERS! (I'm a JD girl myself)😋Now off to the hardware store.
Dang! Thanks I replaced the bottom gasket it's still running so now I'm here learning to do this. I'm tired of turning off the water and turning it back on. Wish me luck! Great video 👍🏻
Thank you very much the other videos made it so complicated you made this very simple by me being a female I really appreciate it thank you very much💯‼️
@@HomeownerRepair doing the toilet was a snap, thanks to your video. I even replaced the fill line, too. The toilet hasn't worked this well since we bought the house!
I had a pipe burst over the winter. Once it was fixed my kitchen faucet spray head was totally clogged and had to be replaced. I have an old house and somehow everything got filled with rust silt. Anyway, the plumber said the toilet (it takes 12+ hours to refill once it's flushed) would be the supply line and not its inards. After trying for as long as I could tolerate to remove it, I went to the store and bought a wrench! My fingers are too short to expertly use pliers for something like that! Anyway, a new line didn't work! Now I've got to try to take the fill valve out and see if I can clean it out rather than replace it. They're $25 at Lowe's! Not astronomical, but I could buy a nice steak for that! Lol thanks for the video! I was about to remove the tank!
I have 3 to do and was going to buy the universal from Amazon but I notice looking at other places they are different inches. Does that make a difference ? Thx, Gail 3:26. It’s been leaking for months and I’ve been shutting off the water in between. Now I can hear my other toilets (same age 20) doing the same thing. I figured I better just go for it:-))
What is that you called A LITTLE LEVER used for that is with the Nut and Gasket, you did not show putting that on anyting? Thank You Very Much, PS, will be helping a friend put one in in two weeks!!!
Thank you. Great instructional video. You make it look so easy so I want to try it too and save $$$$$. Can you tell me which part to get from the photos? It is a one piece Kohler which developed a continuous trickle after flushing. Annoying ! Oh where can I insert photos of my inside of toilet?
This stuff is usually pretty standard. Here is a kit on Amazon that replaces everything in the tank and it is not too expensive. Hope this helps you out. amzn.to/46Eie0V #ad
I am personally offended at how simple a repair this is, LOL. Thank you SO much for this video, I got mine changed out with about 5 extra minutes tacked on because of the same stupid problem with the nut. Great video, much thanks and appreciation!
If you buy a fill valve replacement kit usually it will come with everything in to to replace all of the old internal pieces. Here is a link to one on Amazon: amzn.to/45rpw7L #ad
Thanks so much for the video. I replaced it no problem but now every once and awhile the toilet makes a filling sound which only lasts a couple of seconds. Any idea what can be causing that? Thanks again.
Is there an exact tool I can get that goes over that plastic nut to take it off? My toilet is so close to the wall, I can't get in there with a wrench. I'm so frustrated because everything I have to do is right next to the wall and I'm getting smashed by the toilet.
You may be able to get in there with what is called a basin wrench, it is made to loosen nuts in tight spots. Here is a link to one on Amazon: amzn.to/3xn317d #ad
@@HomeownerRepair, thank you! Doss Amazon also carry the little suction device that you showed??? It would be better for me if I could order everything online. thanks
My 2-year Koehler-original valves (2 toilets) are both already stuck. After flushing and the floater goes to the bottom, the filling valve doesn’t open unless I vigorously jiggle the handle. It’s like the floater isn’t heavy enough or the valve internally is getting stuck closed. We don’t have hard water here, so no significant mineral deposits. Has this happened to anyone?
Oh, man...I had to replace one today...I was always taught lefty loosey, righty tighty.....in my case it was opposite...anyways, when I saw your vid...its lefty tighty, ,righty loosey...lol
It might be a bad valve on the supply line into the tank, or it water gets into the tank and the toilet tank does not fill, check the flapper in the tank to see if it is worn and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps you out.
@@HomeownerRepair I actually did this, used cup to throw water into the drain hole, and then just put a cup under the fill valve opening, didn't really need a pump or anything, it did the job

When the tank is empty, it's a good idea to wipe it clean, so no bits get into the flapper seal.
Also, I prefer a Gin and Tonic.
Thanks for the added tip!
What does it mean if the tank won't fill up with water?
It might be a bad valve on the supply line into the tank, or it water gets into the tank and the toilet tank does not fill, check the flapper in the tank to see if it is worn and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps you out.
