I have a 2017 as well, how do you know if this is required? Is there a way to check levels? Already going through a boatload of repairs and the AC just quit today.
Hi, Sorry I don't have the experience on charging the latitude. Your Jeep still might be under warranty though and they might be able to charge it at no cost to you at the dealer.
FYI I know this video is a couple years old but I just charged my 2017 in 15 minutes and I picked it up at Advance and it was in stock. Shouldn’t be an issue anymore
I would suggest finding a video on UA-cam from a mechanic but the idea is to start the car, turn the AC on MAX, fans on max and slowly add refridgerent into the system. It's a good idea to have a thermometer in an air vent so you can see how cold it is. If it's under charged it will either freeze or not turn on. If it's over charged it will get warmer the more you add so don't add it fast. This is not mechanical advise as I'm not a licensed mechanic but should be taken as advice only. Thanks Andrew
Did your radiator fan also not turn on when you had tried the AC prior to when you charged it with Freon? I noticed that my radiator fan doesn't turn on when i press AC. I haven't charge the system yet, but I'm just trying to analyze it before buying the can. I'm wondering if the pressure is so low that it is not sending any pressure to the pressure switch which tells the compressor and radiator fan to engage.
Hi Jonathan, To be honest, we didn't notice if it was spinning of not. The fan would only turn on if the engine was at running temperature. If it's not spinning when the engine is warm you might want to have that looked at as your engine would quickly overheat. I can't remember if there is a seperate AC fan from the radiator fan but if there is it wouldn't turn on until the AC was charged enough and running. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you wrote. Thanks for watching and commenting. Andrew
just got that recently but when it was put it the air slowly turned warm and also the flow lower down? it was cold before jut not as cold as i though it should be.so now 158 dollars for the special tool and that other freon now it doesn’t work? why 😢
Hi Carla, our episode was only to tell people that they're able to get r1234yf in small cans and is not a how to video which I state in the video. my understanding is that if there is too much refrigerant in the system it will not get cold. having too little in the system will cause it to get very cold and freeze up. it would be best to take it to someone who knows how to add or remove refrigerant to that they can get it into the right temp and pressure so that it operates properly. I wish I could be more help but I'm not an expert in this area. Andrew
The Brand is "Ultra Cool" 1234yf Replacement Refrigerant Kit 6oz w/Trigger Hose and we bought from Amazon Canada here: amzn.to/2yjdeTe Strangely enough I can't find it or a similar product on the USA Amazon so I could only give the Canadian Link. All the links are in the video description. Thanks Hopefully you are able to find it.
My 2014 Jeep Cherokee was missing the low side cap. My parents also. This is how we lost our refrigerant during the Canadian winter. I read an article that said the refrigerant turns to liquid in the cold winter and drops pressure and then leaks out the port that Jeep failed to install cap from factory.
It's not well known but the AC should be ran at least once a month in our cold Canadian winters to keep the refrigerants mixed and the seals lubricated to keep the sealed and helps stop them from cracking over the winter.
Did you ever adjust the connector to fit the fitting? I’ve read on the product reviews that the connector needs to be adjusted to fit in certain Chrysler/jeep vehicles.
We bought ours from Amazon Canada here: amzn.to/2yjdeTe I used to have a link to US Amazon but it no longer works. All of our links are in the Description below the video but UA-cam doesn’t make it obvious where to click to see the descriptions. It’s a v looking shape to the bottom right under the video. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching! Andrew
Hey Jim, We didn’t take any temps because it was blowing current temperature air at us and when we changed it the compressor finally kicked in. We let it run for about half an hour and added a little bit at a time until we felt it was where we were ok with it. This was over a year ago and it’s still cold today (Aug 24, 2020) and we haven’t added anymore to the system. I can take a temperature reading but we haven’t yet. My wife drives it everyday for work as a home visiting nurse and it’s on all the time.
Sorry to hear that. Do you have R-1234 in your AC? This video isn’t about a how to, only to show the connection is different from others. What information were you looking for? Andrew
The 2017 should be the same thing, Thank you sir, You saved me some money
Hi Donnell,
If it has the same sticker as might and says R1234yf it should be the same.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@LivingtheNorthernLife Yes it does! Thanks again!!
Duh

Hi,

Awesome video

Most of our local stores in Canada still don't stock R1234yf yet... kinda crazy....
how do you use it? do you just plug it and then what? sorry not much of a mechanic

While filling gas , car should be running ??
Yes! If you have a thermometer you can place that in the vents and make sure it’s at the right temperature for your system.
Thank you, help me a lot
Glad it helped!
thankyou
Hopefully this helps you out!

What’s the name of the stuff? I do not see a link or any comments with what you used

Never… it’s a special sized connector for this refrigerant.
What’s the link or name of the product? By any chance did the check engine light turn on?

So what temps were u getting before refill, then after?

Link don't work
Miguel Chicas thanks! I will look for it from another Amazon seller.
It sure beats taking it to a garage if it’s only low on refrigerant.
Ranjrover.. 1234 ac gas... Possibile134
Could be. what I dod know is that this jeep is 1234
Sure wasn’t informative!
Sorry to hear that.
