    Were you able to get the lower unit back up by your self? Thanks

      Yes the trick is to have the motor raised up enough to thread the shaft in and have a five gallon bucket ready to hold put under the lower unit to hold it in place as you align the rears use the trim tilt to help but if you ca get help it can’t hurt especially the first time you try.

    Exactly what i needed. Is the thermostat in the lower unit? How often do you need to replace your thermostat? I just got boat and dont have a manual. Thank you!!!!

      Thermostat is right on top very easy to get to. If your in salt water I would check them annually. Have replacement on hand so it can be replaced if showing signs of corrosion. You can put them in boiling water to see if they open up. Add some salt away to the boiling water to clean any salt residue.
      All very easy to do. Hope this helps.

      Much easier than you would think. A great do it yourself project. You might want to think about changing the gear oil on the lower end while the lower drive is off. Easier to do with the help of gravity.

    The keeper (key) that almost fell out. I didn't see that when assembling again. Is that tricky?

    • @fairplayfishing
      @fairplayfishing  Рік тому +1

      Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. You probably have solved this already. The key slips back into place easily use a little marine grade grease so it will be be as easily removable next time.

    You changed the impeller after how many hours that motor ran? Was it 200 hrs or more?

    • @fairplayfishing
      @fairplayfishing  Рік тому

      200 hours would be on the outside for sure after 100 start planning. And time is also a factor if your not running it a lot at least every two years. If the impeller gets brittle it could have pieces break off and go places that would result in some costly repairs. Better safe than sorry. And not too difficult to do the maintenance.
