    I really like how the woman wearing the Niqab is liberal and the woman without Hijab is conservative because it just goes to show how different every Muslim is.

      I mean what even is a Liberal or Conservative muslim? A muslim is someone who submits themselves to the creator and adheres to his commands, the niqabi said she considers herself Liberal because Conservative muslims (born into islam) are more intune with their culture, but with that logic wouldn't that make the Niqabi a Conservative because she follows Islam fully and not a culture

      that niqab wearing 'liberal' muslim was a typical conservative. She'd be a conservative christian, if she'd still held that faith. Not a single one opinion that she expressed could be considered liberal in any shape or form. And that's okey and at the end of the day, liberal muslim, conservative muslim, who cares, they're still arguing over quotes from a book written hundreds of years ago by a person who's claims cannot be verified at all. It's just silly, how much power people will give to some random text written by people who owned slaves.

Science doesn't believe in anything. Science doesn't believe you are breathing air, science doesn't believe we are floating in space... science explains how things happen and provides evidence of it. In science, your opinions don't matter because we're dealing with verifiable facts. When I consider Judaism (in very broad terms), orthodox followers follow the Torah exactly, conservative followers use the teachings of the Torah in much of their lives but have different interpretations, and reform followers are more about the spirit of interpretations and what works best in modern society. And I think that's wonderful and perfectly fine, there's no correct way to practice a religion really because every single person has their own version of faith. I would never say my version of faith is correct while another's is wrong simply because it was different from mine.

      The problem is that he isn't well-read in much else, given that he isn't aware of the many claims in the Quran that are now known to be false.
      For instance, take the story of Noah's ark. When millions of animals got off the ark at Mount Judi, it would not have been possible for them to migrate back to their respective areas of the globe in only a few thousand years (and without leaving any colonies en route). It isn't possible for one person to have collected millions of different species of animals from every forest, desert, tundra, and grassland on the planet, whilst keeping all these animals together and fed, before them all onto a single boat. This is notwithstanding the fact that there's no geologic evidence of a global flood.
      Remember, a message from an all-knowing being should not contain any errors. Even if one exists, then the claims of divine authorship aren’t true.

    • @ASLUHLUHC3
      @ASLUHLUHC3 Рік тому +15

      But for the sake of argument, also take a look at the way the Quran talks about the 'creation' of the Earth and universe [41:9-12]. The timescales are completely wrong (they're said to have been formed in only thousands of years), and the Earth is even claimed to have existed before the rest of the universe.
      Or consider the human genesis story of Adam and Eve, which biology disproves.
      Or consider the fanciful claim that Muhammed split the moon in half. There’s no evidence of this ever happening, nor any record from anywhere else on the planet of this ever happening.

    • @ASLUHLUHC3
      @ASLUHLUHC3 Рік тому +19

      Also, though less damning than the factual errors, another cause for serious doubt is how the Quran doesn’t mention anything about the world that wasn’t already known (or thought to be true) by 7th-century Arabs. There’s no notion of other planets, stars, or galaxies when speaking about the universe. No notion of fertilisation between the sperm and an egg when speaking about embryology. No notion of the evolutionary process when speaking about the ‘creation’ of plants and non-human animals. No notion of past human species when speaking about human origins.
      Allah’s apparent ignorance in the Quran happens to apply to every facet of knowledge that wouldn’t have been known by Muhammed. There’s not even any mention of animals or plants that Muhammed would not have known about. It’s almost as if the Quran was written by 7th-century Arabs.

    The sheer ignorance of saying homosexuality is a sin in every other religion. Simply not true. Confucianism allowed for same-sex love and affairs so long as household duties were upheld, Buddhism (particularly Zen) is full of stories of male monks falling for young men and learning about the transience of beauty from these encounters, ancient Greek and Roman religions were famously libertine in this respect, etc. It's really just the Abrahamic faiths that have a hangup about this, partly because they're copying one another, and even that has plenty of exceptions.

If you ask me, it really exposed the conservative muslims as personally homophobic, meaning they are personally uncomfortable with homosexuality and that's why they interpret the Quran to be against it. People who aren't uncomfortable with homosexuality personally won't interpret the Quran in such a way. Nathalie's correct when she says every single human reads a text and interprets it themselves. There is no "god's interpretation", there is only *your* interpretation of something that was written by--guess who--other humans.
