Markus had so much more energy and positive stage presence than the other guys..I know they must be feeling drained but this is THE time to shine. They may have felt half dead but don’t allow yourself to look that way..he really looked awesome.

This was at the 2002 NOC, Markus Ruhl's absolute prime, and arguably the best lighting ever at a show. While Dillett was basically retired and far away from his prime of eight, ten years before.
Paul prepared for this show in a short time and just for fun. Keep this in mind when comparing both. Dillett's genes were truly on another level.

Marcus was really good at posing, highlighting what made him a mass monster. Paul Dillet could have been the ronnie Coleman of the 90's. The problem was he couldn't hold poses properly. He would shake and struggle to stay composed during a pose. When I see photos of paul, I immediately think how did he not win every Olympia. His aesthetics, proportions, the round full shape of his muscles are amazing. But, once you watch him on video posing, it becomes evident that his posting ability held him back from 1st place.
Paul Dillet's front was just beyond human even with juice.

He could never win an Olympia competition with an anemic looking back. From behind he actually looks like a beginner amateur bodybuilder standing next to Marcus Ruhl.

It’s really sad that Paul Dillet had absolutely NO idea on how to pose. The guy literally couldn’t do the mandatory poses nor could he hold a pose in the correct position!

Was thinking same thing. The posing was a huge difference too. Honestly if you put Colemen, Ruhl, dillet, and big ramy all at the prime size it would be a great sight to see. Ronnie would win but still the size on stage would be insane.

Rühl my favourite bodybuilder. It's a crying shame Dillet never posed properly. There was always something about Rühl's physique that had an extra freak factor.
Dillet was huge but his back let him down, his back always looked soft and doing the lat spread his back wasn't impressive and looked odd.
When I look at these guys, I see science. The understanding and manipulation of metabolism, and adaptation at this level is astounding.

@Manfreski considering the techonolgy we have today they should look miles better than 20 or 30 years ago, yet all you see are bloaty boys that die at the age of 40.
i dunno about the amound of drug use back then, but they did a much better job than today.
@@AdurxIsd I think the style of training has changed! Back then these guys used to train like crazy monsters, mostly compound movements, hence the thick, dense, granite look. These days guys are just pumping muscles with machines and more into blood flow so they look round but very soft.
Manfreski I trained with National level guys (one got second Nationals and one got 1st in Junior Nationals). Back then they didn’t give out so many pro cards as Nationals gave one to each class winner and Juniors no one got a pro card. And USA only the overall got a pro card. The other choice was the North American championship. So competition was incredible for the pro status. Now 2 in each weight class at nationals, all weight class winners at USA championships, and top 3 in each class at N AMERICAN. So they gave out 15 back then in USA/Canada and the light guys didn’t have a 212 to compete in either. I’m not sure about the foreign guys but many countries it was either overall or the class winners getting a pro card. And It was everyone against everyone. So to me they drove the standard much higher.

Paul has one of the best physiques, although He does have flaws, but His silhouette is unreal.
Paul's back is terrible, when he does his double bicep pose from the back you can clearly see his back looks awful compared to other bodybuilders. also when he does his lat spread his lats don't match, there so uneven and his back is soft with little muscle condition. for me his back let him down and Markus simply blew him away with his awesome back.

I was lucky enough to meet Paul Dilet, after he stopped training after injury about 18 years ago at a nightclub in Toronto...1/8 of his freakish size...he was happy to be recognized and SUPER NICE, I appreciated the encounter., Met a few stars at clubs, and actors, not always the most polite people...ahh the life of a 90s doorman...lol

Amen for posting, Ruhls skeletal is unmatched. Nobody had the shoulder skeletal of Rhul but Dillet had freak, full, forearm to calves winning phenom status. Dillet still not matched in 2020. GOAT on those factors.

I think Paul’s back was underrated. It wasn’t super thick but his posing was so poor it looks like he doesn’t even know to do a proper lat spread.
His lower back was not as big as Ruhls but that's why Dillet looked better in the stomach area so its a trade off there. I think overall Dillet had a better physique, what let him down was his posing.
