Something I absolutely love about Angel Dust are his mannerisms. I mean I'm not talking about the sexual movements or anything but, It mostly has to do with how he fidgets and the movements that he does with his hands and his face. How he's constantly expressing himself by moving his eyebrows and how he runs his hand through his fluffy hair And even just the strange gestures that he does with his hands when he's talking. I just love the way he moves and the way that he fidgets.
It's similar to Vaggie's small eye and mouth movements that were pointed out. I feel like it makes the characters seem much more alive and thus easier to identify with.

I think the "over designed" character design is more of an animation critique. I love their designs, but I can agree it's not practical for animation due to all the small details to keep track of, especially Husk's wings. So many details like that slows down animation and is extra work for animators.
Some of the characters like Charli, Vaggie and Niffty could stay the same with little changes to their design but since Hazbin has been picked up by a studio, they might be told that characters like alastor or husk that have a ton of features to their designs will have to be changed and I understand that because while they are both interesting charcter designs I can't imagine how long it takes to color them for every frame and make sure it stays in model. I know theres a lot of back and forth about the designs but for animation purposes and saving time/money I think for a professional studio result Hazbin is going to look very different.
Honestly husk is the only character I would call over designed, he's like a cat bat penguin and my eyes go everywhere. Other than that they're all fine. Alastair i mistook for a dear though, they might want to work on that.
I actually really liked Nifty’s introduction. The contrasting tones that she is sending feels purposeful. She comes across as a highly unstable individual who can go from being a sweetheart to a psycho in a matter of seconds.
If they keep any sound effects, I think it should be the ones that lowkey tie into the characters, like Charlie's upbeat squeaky toy sounds and the zipper effect that sometimes plays when Angel Dust makes a raunchy joke. I feel like those were decent uses. Oh, and Alastor's radio effects--the ones that don't kill your ears, but I guess they also get a pass because he seems to be the one making them?

Yeah, after a few rewatching I finally realised how exactly it was meant to be. At first I thought Alastor teleported himself to Husk, but that crashed because of the fact that they were suddenly in the hotel. Than I thought Husk was teleported to Alastor, but that crashed because of the fact that they were probably in the hotel, but no-one was there and the table was there as well.... Long story short, a lot confusing

I don't agree with the notion that the pilot was paced too quickly. It's a pilot. The point of a pilot episode isn’t necessarily to act as a normal episode, but rather to show off the premise of the show to production companies. So obviously the creators would want to introduce as many characters as possible.
I agree it helped to set up the tone and the pace for this kind of story - since a slower pace just would not have worked for the type of show that it is

I really love when fans talk about flaws of the thing they love cause it's never full of hatred. Even the most harsh jokes dont sound offensive. And that's sure the type of humor i love most - wildly cheeky jokes with completely friendly subtext.

The character deaths aren't given to you, its more about the subtle hints. We all know Alistair died before the 40s but after the 20s because of his comment on the great depression and the way he calls a TV a picture show

Here's an interesting thought I had: A 'heaven' for sinners is a place where they can do whatever they want whenever they want, a place of anarchy. This suggests that Hell is a place of pure anarchy, no one is obliged to do anything for anyone but themselves. Of course, we see in Helluva Boss that there is some things that need to be kept in order, such as Stolas doing his 'duties' that require the use of his grimoire, but this can be stated as something that higher up demons need to do, this including Lucifer, Lilith, and other forms of demon royalty. Demon royalty doesn't seem to put down any laws in Hell, the only 'law' there seems to be is the yearly extermination which is beyond the hands of even the highest form of demon royalty. The only exception I find to this is when Charlie 'orders' Alastor to help with the hotel, but even then she says 'for as long as you desire.' This leads us to believe that Hell is a dystopian anarchy, yes people did bad things to get there but as we see in the Helluva Boss plot, you can be a perfectly good person, do one bad thing, and get sent to Hell anyways. This disregard for circumstance and reason is probably why Hell is so overpopulated to begin with. So, the way I see it, Hell is an anarchist world under the foot of Heaven where anyone can do anything for whatever reason. It's a morally grey world, no a purely evil world.
And therein lies the mythological issue. If you want to follow Christian lore, the best way to refer to an anarchist post death waiting zone is Purgatory. But because they wanted an excuse to be edgelords, they called it Hell. All it would have taken is for Hazbin to be set in Purgatory as a way to reform sinners before the worst were purged to actual Hell of fire and brimstone fame, then Helluva could stay in Hell accommodating the sinners that made it there. Instead we get bastardized mythos worse than what Disney did in Hercules. Imagine doing this to any other religion and afterlife mythos... but you can disrespect Christianity all you want because they "Turn the other cheek" and such.
@@Undomaranel We also have to remember that, yes, it's based off of mythology and religion, but Vivsiepop also made it her own, and that is what a story artist does. I write stories as well and I take things from media and even my own life, but I make it my own to make it original and something that ALL people can enjoy, such as this. If this was purely based off of Christian religion, not everyone would enjoy it. But if it was original, it's almost in a grey area where anyone can without being offended or felt left out entirely. And that's why I love Hazbin and Helluva; it's original. Just my opinion

I can imagine Lucifer trying to take the place down because it’s failing or something and the characters racing against time to get demons to get better before the cleanse. There are just so many possibilities with this show, I’m really excited to see what’s next
Being someone who has adhd I actually absolutely loved the pace of this first episode, I really wish more shows did stuff like this for people who easily get bored
I agree. If the pace had been slower I probably would have gotten bored. Hell, I got bored during the first song in the pilot because not much was happening and slow-moving things, unless it's supposed to build anticipation or tension are painful to sit through. The chaotic, fast pace of the pilot is what made it fun for me to watch.
I don't have ADHD but I have the same problem. I can hardly go through videos because I get bored and zone out. I love Vivzipop's cartoons. I don't zone out because there's always something interesting to look at
Fun fact: The voice lines they used for Nifty are just the audition samples the voice actor submitted for the part. She had recorded other things when she was actually chosen but they said her initial submission was better and so they just ended up using that. So that's most likely the reason why Husk actually interacted with both Angel and Alastor where as Nifty never really did which I also thought was kinda weird.
When the pilot came out, me and my friend watched. I understood everything happening even though that was my first look at the fandom. We could barely breathe because of the humor, and every time I rewatch it there’s consist jokes that get me. I’m excited to see a full show from both of them.
First, ALASTOR IS ACE!!!! THAT MADE ME SO HAPPY!!!! Second, with my adhd, the fast pacing kept the entire thing interesting the whole way through. At the end, I was a little confused, like "wait already?" I tend to listen to loud, fast music to drown out everything when I'm feeling understimulated and the episode gives me a very similar feeling. Of course, this is just my personal impression on the pacing. God knows my mom hates the music i compared it to for that exact reason.

This is just me and I know it ain’t gon be the same with a ton of people but I kind of lived for the fast pace and crowdedness of the pilot. I always need to be entertained and to have something happening and to focus on at all times and since this episode was jam packed I can rewatch it a ton of times and enjoy sheer immersion. But for everyone else’s sake, they should probably tone it down a tad.
THANK YOU! YES! I'm one of those people whose attention can be taken away very quickly. Especially when it comes to shows. It's a miracle if I can say I've actually watched a full series. I've lost count of how many times I've watched this show now. Not just rewatching, but the reaction videos of others as well. Instead of being slightly bored through the reactions and scrolling through facebook while half paying attention, my full focus was on the video. This pilot going so fast and constantly having things going on is honestly one of my favorite things about it. It's like its a show made by people, for people, with ADHD hahaha.
OK, so, I have a theory about why Charlie said that Alastor was 'sketchy as fuck'. I think she was really scared of Alastor and didn't really know what to do, so she acted tougher than she was, because that's how she was taught to act in those sorts of situations by her parents.

It shows Allistor's quirky, jerky, slightly off putting movements to illustrate his off kilter, yet totally in control mental state, his interest in the moment, and his absolute lack of giving a F, yet pleasure he takes when hes about to destroy Surpentious's machine. He has many similar movements along the way. After all, hes taking interest and helping out as a means of entertaining himself
I was so incredibly happy when I found out Alastor was asexual. I recently found myself to be asexual and honestly didn’t know what to do now. So seeing that my favorite character of this show was also asexual just made my life a little bit brighter again.
You are supposed to be confused if Nifty is a psychopath or a cute fifties house wife because back then people pretended to be so happy they seemed like they were constantly faking their emotions and it makes them seem creepy af.
One of the only things I don't like about the show is the character design, or more the body shapes. everyone has the same or a similar color pallete, what makes it difficult to tell where one character starts and the other one ends. which makes it weird to watch when everyone is on screen. So a bit of different body shapes or color palettes would be nice.
I disagree. It is quite easy to tell them apart. If you put their shadows side by side, their outline would be recognizable for each one without seeing any details. Neither their colours nor their design seems similar to me. Then again, that might be because I love art and every detail stands out to me clearly from the first try.
fun fact: baxter's design has been changed what he used to look like is also in the pilot! he used to just look like a depressed alastor. i found this out just by looking at hazbin hotel art. i found his original art, searched for more with his name and found the redone design

One sin that I personally interpreted as such was when Vaggie says she’s going to kill Angel and he makes it sound like she couldn’t kill him because they’re already dead (“where would I go to? Double hell?… you’re stuck with me!”), but earlier in the episode it’s made pretty clear demons CAN be killed (the very premise of the show is that the Hotel is to control overpopulation by rehabilitating demons and sending them to heaven instead of killing them). I really didn’t get that.
I think (and this is just a theory) that it's because he knows demons can't be killed without the use of an angelic weapon, and so he knows that she can't kill him and is just taunting her. Or else is seriously questioning whether an angelic weapon truly kills a demon, and if it's not used it only kinda kills them, if that makes sense?
I really really love the thought and detail that was put into this video!! I am big big fan of Hazbin Hotel (and Helluva Boss) and I really love this pilot - its story, its setup, the ANIMATION, and of course, its characters - but the opinions and little nitpicks stated throughout this video were ON. One Sin for this video; you end the Sin counter at 52, and then tally it up to 54. Other than that, you make valid points about the show and have a good sense of humor. I hope you do more of this for future Hazbin Hotel videos.
So, I like the way hell is portrayed, you know why? It reminds me of the world we already live in. The fact of the matter is, some people believe the world we are living in right now is hell and we are constantly being tested to see if we deserve better. Once you die, your life is reviewed and it is determined whether you should move on, or be reborn again. The Buddhist and Hindus see the constant circle of rebirth as a type of hell, and the goal is to break out of the circle. So, I feel the way they portrayed hell was very well done. I would like to know what happens when demons die in Hazbin Hotel. Where do they go? Are they reborn? Do they just stop existing all together? What about angels? Can they die as well? Can all angels cross into hell besides the exterminators? What causes someone to go to hell? Heaven? How perfect or imperfect do you have to be? I look forward to learning all of these things as the show progresses on. They all did a fantastic job!
I didn't know that the Buddhist and Hindu's thought of constant cycle or rebirth as hell(probably not all of them thought). As a person/kid that grew up around people (besides my parents) that believed that you have to be the best version of yourself in this one chance in line that you get or else you'll be sent to hell (everlasting agony) I always just saw regeneration/rebirth fresh as something much less intense by getting the chance to learn from your mistakes in life so that you can progressively become a better version of yourself. but i get the mind set of were they come from especially if the cycle of rebirth is the only thing you know, it probably feels like an everlasting cycle of living again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again while not knowing the point to it or if it's leading them anywhere. This is just the way I interpreted your comment so im definitely going to look more into it (this is sort of my thing btw, existentially questioning how different religions especially afterlife work or how they can be interpreted in different ways and exploring those different version of those same belief systems✌️)
When demons die, they usually reincarnate in objects. Except for when they get killed by exterminators, which can actually kil a demon amd make their soul vanish. I guess angels can die and they definitely can cross into hell. Sins is what causes people to go to hell and not sinning is what causes someone to go to heaven. If you need anything, there's the wiki

As a gay guy I'm pretty uncomfortable with how he put Charlie and Vaggie's relationship. He glorified that it wasn't "too in your face" and "I really wish that all LBGTQ couples were portrayed like this" when I don't think he has any right to speak on it. (correct me if im wrong) With the little to no representation we already get, I really dislike when people encourage the kind where homophobic people can just as easily pretend it's not there for their own comfort. I don't have any issue with how Hazbin portrays them, and it'll almost definitely be more obvious in future episodes, i just have an issue with how he commented on that, and a bit with Angel too. I'm sure that's not how he meant to come off as, but (assumed, again correct me) straight people really shouldn't feel entitled to input on how LGBT characters are represented.
It's been eight months since I posted the original version of this video. And with with every new character that Viv has confirmed to be LGBTQ+, I found myself increasingly tempted to join the chorus of reddit/4chan trolls that find this over-representation to be super obnoxious. And I found myself laughing at all of the anti-LGBT posts that people send out in response to this news, just because they all enjoy being terrible people. I never was actively _against_ the LGBTQ+ community, but I often found myself on the same side as these groups of people. *HOWEVER...* Whenever I actually take a step back from those hate trains and try to come up with logical reasons why this type of representation is bad, I come up with nothing. It's important to note that I went to a Christian church/school for the first nine years of my education, and I was constantly taught that homosexuality was a sin. But I graduated from that school in 2008, and I always thought that I had gotten over those prejudices since then. But I recently (like, just within the past few weeks) realized that I was wrong. I still get annoyed by seeing this kind of stuff, even though there is absolutely no logical reason for me to be mad about it. I guess that those seeds of homophobia were planted more deeply than I thought. I guess that I always justfieid my feelings by saying that this type of representation overload is USUALLY done by corporate mandates to get more minorities into their casts in order to make their franchises more profitable. And I still think that THAT is something that should be discouraged, but Vivienne Medrano is clearly not that type of person. TL;DR, I'm willing to admit that what I said was wrong. _BUT,_ you can't tell me that I have no right to criticize this kind of stuff just because I'm straight (which I am, by the way). You can tell me that I'm wrong. You can tell me that I'm ignorant. You can tell me that I don't understand because I'm not a part of your community. But the way you worded your comment made it sound like I'm not allowed to make critiques on a gay couple JUST because I'm straight. And that would be no different than having me tell you that you can't have an opinion on a straight couple just because you're gay. Something I absolutely love about Angel Dust are his mannerisms. I mean I'm not talking about the sexual movements or anything but, It mostly has to do with how he fidgets and the movements that he does with his hands and his face.
How he's constantly expressing himself by moving his eyebrows and how he runs his hand through his fluffy hair And even just the strange gestures that he does with his hands when he's talking.
I just love the way he moves and the way that he fidgets.
Oh yeah, it kinda reminds me of how some people fidget, which makes him seem more real to me.

I think the "over designed" character design is more of an animation critique. I love their designs, but I can agree it's not practical for animation due to all the small details to keep track of, especially Husk's wings. So many details like that slows down animation and is extra work for animators.
Some of the characters like Charli, Vaggie and Niffty could stay the same with little changes to their design but since Hazbin has been picked up by a studio, they might be told that characters like alastor or husk that have a ton of features to their designs will have to be changed and I understand that because while they are both interesting charcter designs I can't imagine how long it takes to color them for every frame and make sure it stays in model. I know theres a lot of back and forth about the designs but for animation purposes and saving time/money I think for a professional studio result Hazbin is going to look very different.

I actually really liked Nifty’s introduction. The contrasting tones that she is sending feels purposeful. She comes across as a highly unstable individual who can go from being a sweetheart to a psycho in a matter of seconds.
If they keep any sound effects, I think it should be the ones that lowkey tie into the characters, like Charlie's upbeat squeaky toy sounds and the zipper effect that sometimes plays when Angel Dust makes a raunchy joke. I feel like those were decent uses. Oh, and Alastor's radio effects--the ones that don't kill your ears, but I guess they also get a pass because he seems to be the one making them?

I don't agree with the notion that the pilot was paced too quickly. It's a pilot. The point of a pilot episode isn’t necessarily to act as a normal episode, but rather to show off the premise of the show to production companies. So obviously the creators would want to introduce as many characters as possible.
I agree it helped to set up the tone and the pace for this kind of story - since a slower pace just would not have worked for the type of show that it is
I also liked how fast paced it was because it's actually sort of reflective of how chaotic it really would be

The character deaths aren't given to you, its more about the subtle hints. We all know Alistair died before the 40s but after the 20s because of his comment on the great depression and the way he calls a TV a picture show

Here's an interesting thought I had: A 'heaven' for sinners is a place where they can do whatever they want whenever they want, a place of anarchy. This suggests that Hell is a place of pure anarchy, no one is obliged to do anything for anyone but themselves. Of course, we see in Helluva Boss that there is some things that need to be kept in order, such as Stolas doing his 'duties' that require the use of his grimoire, but this can be stated as something that higher up demons need to do, this including Lucifer, Lilith, and other forms of demon royalty. Demon royalty doesn't seem to put down any laws in Hell, the only 'law' there seems to be is the yearly extermination which is beyond the hands of even the highest form of demon royalty. The only exception I find to this is when Charlie 'orders' Alastor to help with the hotel, but even then she says 'for as long as you desire.' This leads us to believe that Hell is a dystopian anarchy, yes people did bad things to get there but as we see in the Helluva Boss plot, you can be a perfectly good person, do one bad thing, and get sent to Hell anyways. This disregard for circumstance and reason is probably why Hell is so overpopulated to begin with. So, the way I see it, Hell is an anarchist world under the foot of Heaven where anyone can do anything for whatever reason. It's a morally grey world, no a purely evil world.
And therein lies the mythological issue. If you want to follow Christian lore, the best way to refer to an anarchist post death waiting zone is Purgatory. But because they wanted an excuse to be edgelords, they called it Hell. All it would have taken is for Hazbin to be set in Purgatory as a way to reform sinners before the worst were purged to actual Hell of fire and brimstone fame, then Helluva could stay in Hell accommodating the sinners that made it there. Instead we get bastardized mythos worse than what Disney did in Hercules. Imagine doing this to any other religion and afterlife mythos... but you can disrespect Christianity all you want because they "Turn the other cheek" and such.
@@Undomaranel We also have to remember that, yes, it's based off of mythology and religion, but Vivsiepop also made it her own, and that is what a story artist does. I write stories as well and I take things from media and even my own life, but I make it my own to make it original and something that ALL people can enjoy, such as this. If this was purely based off of Christian religion, not everyone would enjoy it. But if it was original, it's almost in a grey area where anyone can without being offended or felt left out entirely. And that's why I love Hazbin and Helluva; it's original.

Honestly same. I don't understand the hate and criticism it gets. The fast pacing and and constant action is why it's so great
I agree. If the pace had been slower I probably would have gotten bored. Hell, I got bored during the first song in the pilot because not much was happening and slow-moving things, unless it's supposed to build anticipation or tension are painful to sit through. The chaotic, fast pace of the pilot is what made it fun for me to watch.
I don't have ADHD but I have the same problem. I can hardly go through videos because I get bored and zone out. I love Vivzipop's cartoons. I don't zone out because there's always something interesting to look at
Fun fact: The voice lines they used for Nifty are just the audition samples the voice actor submitted for the part. She had recorded other things when she was actually chosen but they said her initial submission was better and so they just ended up using that. So that's most likely the reason why Husk actually interacted with both Angel and Alastor where as Nifty never really did which I also thought was kinda weird.

When the pilot came out, me and my friend watched. I understood everything happening even though that was my first look at the fandom. We could barely breathe because of the humor, and every time I rewatch it there’s consist jokes that get me. I’m excited to see a full show from both of them.

Second, with my adhd, the fast pacing kept the entire thing interesting the whole way through. At the end, I was a little confused, like "wait already?"
I tend to listen to loud, fast music to drown out everything when I'm feeling understimulated and the episode gives me a very similar feeling. Of course, this is just my personal impression on the pacing. God knows my mom hates the music i compared it to for that exact reason.

OK, so, I have a theory about why Charlie said that Alastor was 'sketchy as fuck'. I think she was really scared of Alastor and didn't really know what to do, so she acted tougher than she was, because that's how she was taught to act in those sorts of situations by her parents.

It shows Allistor's quirky, jerky, slightly off putting movements to illustrate his off kilter, yet totally in control mental state, his interest in the moment, and his absolute lack of giving a F, yet pleasure he takes when hes about to destroy Surpentious's machine. You are supposed to be confused if Nifty is a psychopath or a cute fifties house wife because back then people pretended to be so happy they seemed like they were constantly faking their emotions and it makes them seem creepy af.
One of the only things I don't like about the show is the character design, or more the body shapes. everyone has the same or a similar color pallete, what makes it difficult to tell where one character starts and the other one ends. which makes it weird to watch when everyone is on screen. So a bit of different body shapes or color palettes would be nice.
I disagree. It is quite easy to tell them apart. If you put their shadows side by side, their outline would be recognizable for each one without seeing any details. Neither their colours nor their design seems similar to me. Then again, that might be because I love art and every detail stands out to me clearly from the first try.
I can tell some of the differences, Vivzie's style is basically the one she has in Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. It's like her trademark style.

One sin that I personally interpreted as such was when Vaggie says she’s going to kill Angel and he makes it sound like she couldn’t kill him because they’re already dead (“where would I go to? Double hell?… you’re stuck with me!”), but earlier in the episode it’s made pretty clear demons CAN be killed (the very premise of the show is that the Hotel is to control overpopulation by rehabilitating demons and sending them to heaven instead of killing them). I really didn’t get that.
I think (and this is just a theory) that it's because he knows demons can't be killed without the use of an angelic weapon, and so he knows that she can't kill him and is just taunting her. Or else is seriously questioning whether an angelic weapon truly kills a demon, and if it's not used it only kinda kills them, if that makes sense?

So, I like the way hell is portrayed, you know why? It reminds me of the world we already live in. The fact of the matter is, some people believe the world we are living in right now is hell and we are constantly being tested to see if we deserve better. Once you die, your life is reviewed and it is determined whether you should move on, or be reborn again. The Buddhist and Hindus see the constant circle of rebirth as a type of hell, and the goal is to break out of the circle. So, I feel the way they portrayed hell was very well done. I would like to know what happens when demons die in Hazbin Hotel. Where do they go? Are they reborn? Do they just stop existing all together? What about angels? Can they die as well? Can all angels cross into hell besides the exterminators? What causes someone to go to hell? Heaven? How perfect or imperfect do you have to be? I look forward to learning all of these things as the show progresses on. They all did a fantastic job!
I didn't know that the Buddhist and Hindu's thought of constant cycle or rebirth as hell(probably not all of them thought). As a person/kid that grew up around people (besides my parents) that believed that you have to be the best version of yourself in this one chance in line that you get or else you'll be sent to hell (everlasting agony) I always just saw regeneration/rebirth fresh as something much less intense by getting the chance to learn from your mistakes in life so that you can progressively become a better version of yourself. but i get the mind set of were they come from especially if the cycle of rebirth is the only thing you know, it probably feels like an everlasting cycle of living again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again while not knowing the point to it or if it's leading them anywhere. This is just the way I interpreted your comment so im definitely going to look more into it (this is sort of my thing btw, existentially questioning how different religions especially afterlife work or how they can be interpreted in different ways and exploring those different version of those same belief systems✌️)
When demons die, they usually reincarnate in objects. Except for when they get killed by exterminators, which can actually kil a demon amd make their soul vanish. As a gay guy I'm pretty uncomfortable with how he put Charlie and Vaggie's relationship. He glorified that it wasn't "too in your face" and "I really wish that all LBGTQ couples were portrayed like this" when I don't think he has any right to speak on it. (correct me if im wrong) With the little to no representation we already get, I really dislike when people encourage the kind where homophobic people can just as easily pretend it's not there for their own comfort. I don't have any issue with how Hazbin portrays them, and it'll almost definitely be more obvious in future episodes, i just have an issue with how he commented on that, and a bit with Angel too. I'm sure that's not how he meant to come off as, but (assumed, again correct me) straight people really shouldn't feel entitled to input on how LGBT characters are represented.
It's been eight months since I posted the original version of this video. And with with every new character that Viv has confirmed to be LGBTQ+, I found myself increasingly tempted to join the chorus of reddit/4chan trolls that find this over-representation to be super obnoxious. And I found myself laughing at all of the anti-LGBT posts that people send out in response to this news, just because they all enjoy being terrible people. I never was actively _against_ the LGBTQ+ community, but I often found myself on the same side as these groups of people.
*HOWEVER...*
Whenever I actually take a step back from those hate trains and try to come up with logical reasons why this type of representation is bad, I come up with nothing. It's important to note that I went to a Christian church/school for the first nine years of my education, and I was constantly taught that homosexuality was a sin. But I graduated from that school in 2008, and I always thought that I had gotten over those prejudices since then. But I recently (like, just within the past few weeks) realized that I was wrong. I still get annoyed by seeing this kind of stuff, even though there is absolutely no logical reason for me to be mad about it. I guess that those seeds of homophobia were planted more deeply than I thought. I guess that I always justfieid my feelings by saying that this type of representation overload is USUALLY done by corporate mandates to get more minorities into their casts in order to make their franchises more profitable. And I still think that THAT is something that should be discouraged, but Vivienne Medrano is clearly not that type of person. TL;DR, I'm willing to admit that what I said was wrong.
_BUT,_ you can't tell me that I have no right to criticize this kind of stuff just because I'm straight (which I am, by the way). You can tell me that I'm wrong. You can tell me that I'm ignorant. You can tell me that I don't understand because I'm not a part of your community. But the way you worded your comment made it sound like I'm not allowed to make critiques on a gay couple JUST because I'm straight. And that would be no different than having me tell you that you can't have an opinion on a straight couple just because you're gay. I know what you meant, but you certainly could have worded it better.

Yeah, they kinda tried to gatekeep criticism(which is kinda dumb), but they also wanted to point out the obvious discrepancies.
Now, I'm not trying to play, "Who's been more oppressed?", however, you need to understand that OP was trying to point out that the LGBT community has been starved of representation. And that homophobic lifestyle you were brought up in? majority of them have been brought up in it too, taught to hate themselves, and then shunned from media.
Subtle romance in a non-romantic show is always recommended but saying that it should be, "the norm" is wrong.
I understand that you addressed this already, but what I'm trying to get at here is that a portion of what the OP was saying on your "right to criticize" the relationship, was just to point out the fact that since, as a straight person, you've never really been starved of representation like an LGBT person has, so, therefore, you don't get to dictate how the relationship should be shown for them and others to view. OP was also trying to say that they thought you were coming off as almost entitled to how you feel LGBT characters should be portrayed(Which I also don't agree with, you came off as reasonable to me), but it could explain how they got a bit offended at that

There's acctually a scene in the Angel, Cherri and Sir Pentious fight scene where the animator forgot angel wore heels and turned them into pants instead 😭 ever since I noticed it every time I watch the pilot my eyes are drawn to it lolll
