The best verse in it was when she said I know that man up there on that cross but I don't know his name but I know he got off... gives me goosebumps every time
I was that little girl. No happy ending, back then. No dead parents. No hiding behind the couch. I got the beatings. God waited for me to chose him. Took a long time. He was there. So many times, I wore the bruises, but, he took my pain. I was an angry person. Then, I called on him. He came to me. I felt a new peace. Then I remembered. I felt that same safety and peace during those beatings, because it didn't hurt. Most of it, I didn't remember with in seconds. I saw the bruises, and went in and out of foster homes. They always sent me back to them. I grew angry. I forgot about him. Until the day my anger was more than I could handle, and I screamed at him, and to him, for 3 hours. Just me and God having a one sided fight I couldn't win. Until I was exhausted. I looked up and said 1 word. "Please". Instantly, I felt him again. Peace came. Then I remembered. Its a hard road to travel from the world taking trust and faith away to come to him. I went through a lot of changes. But, I remember that feeling so many times as a child. He was there. He waited for me. Wow! Can you believe that?? I'm nobody, and God waited for me. If no other blessing of this world ever comes to me, I don't care, because, I already have everything. Nobody hear could ever love somebody that much. There is no greater blessing. He waited for me. Amen.
He is ready and waiting for us all. Thank you for sharing your story. Keep praising Him!
Man...Jesus was there. He is always there. If you see it report it. Don't keep your mouth shut. Be a rock, for those who don't know that man on that cross, who got off of it.
Amen
Preach!
"911 operator, what's your emergency?"
"I was just assaulted by a song!?"
"Was it John Michael Montgomery?"
"Yes...?"
*distant yell* "That's 9,578,554,231 Paul, first round is on you!"
This song has a special place in my heart. I showed it to a buddy who hadn't heard much country music in his life. He cried. I teared up. It was a pretty cool moment because there was just this little moment of vulnerability.
The first time I heard this song I was on my way home from work and I had to pull over on the side of the road cuz I cried so hard. I love this song and it still gives me the chills. Thank you for checking it out. God bless
Butterfly Kisses- Bob Carlisle
I really dig the Christian Based Country Songs. Check out "Three Wooden Crosses" by Randy Travis.
in my opinion one of the best Cristian country songs ever along with Alissa lies.
raise him up is another great song
Though, not really a gospel song, a love without end is a really good one...
This is why I love country music. JMM released so many great songs during the 90s which is my favorite decade for country music. Please review/react to Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll, All These Years by Sawyer Brown, Not That Different by Collin Raye, ‘Til I Was A Daddy Too by Tracy Lawrence, Remember When by Alan Jackson, Just A Dream by Carrie Underwood, You’re Gonna Miss This by Trace Adkins, Don’t Take The Girl by Tim McGraw, Matches by Sammy Kershaw, It’s Your Call by Reba McEntire, I’m Not Strong Enough To Say No by Blackhawk, Independence Day by Martina McBride, Friends by John Michael Montgomery and If I Had Any Pride Left At All by John Berry!!
Plano Jag - Alyssa Lies! One of my favorites!!
Concrete Angel, Martina Mcbride.
This song brings back so memories of my childhood. I grew up on this music. Thank you.
John Michael Montgomery has a lot of great songs...sad that he hasn't made any new music in years after alcohol got ahold of him real good..
I would love to see you react to his song,I miss you a little.
This song makes me tear up each time I hear it.
Lori McKinney I was a huge fan...did not know about his struggle. How did they keep that shutdown?
He was at a welcome home for 4ID when my husband returned from deployment. He sang Letters from home and forgot a lot of the words. I didn’t understand why until I read later about his struggles. Truly sad.
Thank you MRM for sharing your memory (so 😢 ). You are so correct about music telling stories--whether its rap, country, rock--music can tell a story by whomever sings it. Keep posting the videos. Thanks!!
Please react to Tim McGraw's "Don't Take the Girl" and Brad Paisley's "When I Get Where I'm Going".
Yassss I love that song it's so sad tho
Sharon W... Please DO NOT give this city slicker any ideas for more videos just to get views!! When I Get Where I'm Going was my grandfather's favourite song before he passed and I never knew him. He died when I was a month old. I don't want this man to ruin it.
I love your videos. Thank you for not interrupting them with comments!
I believe in love- Don Williams. (Reaction).
You are a wonderful man. Excellent commentary...love to you
I just found you. I like your expressions. I like that you tell a story. This is a very sad song and I like you weren't laughing and making fun of the situation. I'm subscribed and will watch more!
Hello, Mr. Smith, Another great job, thank you! Harley Allen wrote this. He supposedly was from Dayton, Ohio, but I think the poorest sections of KY were part of his upbringing too. He wrote of alcohol and Jesus, and apparently coal-mining was part of his family history. He died young. In his 40's or 50's I believe. Tall and thin, he was a great songwriter with a great sense of humor. There is a CD called "Harley Allen Live at The Bluebird Café. Regards, Jim
Dude this song is so good. The sad thing is that way too many people and kids can relate. Great story man. Great reaction.
Rascal Flatts- I'm Moving On. Randy Travis- 3 Wooden Crosses. Craig Morgan- This Ain't Nothing.
This Ain't Nothing is a good inspirational song
How about private Malone...
Like my father once said to me. You need to bury what you experienced deep. The pain will go away when they come to take you home. He passed away the next day. He was my hero!
This video makes me cry every single time, and you are 100% correct that that little girl wishes her parents had loved her like they should have. Wish I could take them all in and love their pain away.
GLAD YOU DID NOT INTERRUPT THIS SAD SONG AND VERY IMPORTANT PSA
You comments are so true. I hope everyone sticks around after the song to hear what your reaction is.
That's my favorite part.
Crap! I didn't think I would cry..
I am crying😪
That song makes my eyes misty every time I hear it.
But you did. It shows you have a heart...........
you need and deserve way more subscribers, people need to listen to what you have to say, more than inspiring, you care. my mind blown...
Great reaction. I have always loved this song. Alyssa Lies is another good song by Jason Michael Carrol
Two different artists but bity are great songs. This is John Michael Montgomery
@@jeremylilly1054 of course I know those are two different artists. I didn't mean to imply that they were. Just trying to suggest another great song.
@@SteveMcCoy. my bad I must've misunderstood your comment
@@jeremylilly1054 it's fine. It's near impossible to judge intention based on typed words. I've misjudged more than once myself.
@@SteveMcCoy. great suggestion though
2 more good ones in this type are Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carol and Concrete Angel by Martina McBride
Love this song.. I cry everytime. ❤
john michael montgomery, the little girl, its is a song that needs to be sung , i lived it.
Sir , I understand exactly what you said . I was a child advocate for the Wayne county ( Detroit ) juvenile court . I worked with kids from broken homes and did my best to represent them and their needs . I never felt like it was enough , I knew they were going to need more than I could give them in that capacity . The worse cases were the ones where the parents weren't fighting for who gets the kid but who had to take the kid . These kids were in court because they got into trouble and they got into trouble because their parents weren't doing their job . It broke my heart . I HAD to do more . So I became a foster mom . The people I worked with at the court would bring me what they called the last chance kids . They'd been asked to leave other foster homes and if this placement didn't work out they were on their way to a juvenile detention center til they turned 18 .
Over the years I had 13 kids come to me with some serous issues . Today they are all productive happy adults some have started their own families and they are responsible , loving parents .
People have asked how did I do that . I gave them all unconditional love , they learned I could be strict with them with they did wrong . I always said Ok you screwed up now how are YOU going to fix it ? They knew no matter what I wasn't going to give up on them . I wasn't going to send them back . This is home and this is where you belong .
Having said all that there were times I thought I'd never get through , times I wanted to pull my hair out . And there was some heartbreak . But when I see the people they have become it was all worth it .
You should do All -4-one and John Micheal Montgomery singing I Swear 2016. Back in 93 John MM recorded this song and then In 94 All -4-One also had a hit on this same song. One was Country and the other Pop/R&B.
This song makes me cry and want to be a foster parent 😭❤️
this happens everyday remember the power of praying God bless we all need one another
Another good one, "His Daughter" by Molly Kate Kestner...she wrote & performed it on youtube. If you don't cry or get teary eyed, you have no soul...
Excellent but very dark song. Another hit of John Michael Montgomery's
that will tug at the heart strings of every service man or woman, active or veteran is "Letters from Home".
The story that the host told sounded like a scene from "the Rainmaker" staring Matt Damon, based on the book by John Grisham.
No one should be abused if you see it yes report it you could be saving a life! Good Bless!
I think you should watch Jason Micheal Carol "Alyssa Lies" I bet you can't keep from being teary eyed.
As a young child, I used to live next to his neice. We used to play together. My parents were very violent like this song. A very similar situation.
Another suggestion you might find heartbreaking...I always do:
"What Have We Become" by D.C. Talk.
Such a heartbreaking song in a similar vein to this John Michael Montgomery song.
From their album Jesus Freak, which I love all the way through.
In fact..."In The Light" from the same album is absolutely amazing.
How sometimes we put our ego above everything else when we should be putting God above even us.
But it's worse when we do it, and realize we're doing it.
We hate ourselves for such selfish behaviour and yet we can't stop ourselves.
Anyway. I won't suggest trying to react to every song on the Jesus Freak album but those two.
But I will recommend listening to the whole album front to back.
If you are a religious man then you owe it to yourself to check it out.
It changed my life when I heard it and it continues to have after effects even now.
Worth a listen. For the words as much as the music.
You won't be sorry.
In my not so humble opinion. :-)
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing that!
Another great song. Good honest reaction!
Thank you! This is how love grows!!
Wow, this song breaks down my emotions that I thought where gone. Thank you.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG
This song. Jesus. I haven't heard this song in such a long time. Yet, it still breaks my heart. Every. Single.
Time.
You are a great man. 😍❤️
I try to be. Thx
This is one of my favorite songs because I can relate, my Father was extremely abusive physically emotionally and sexually. At 10 years old we ran away. I found Jesus at 16
Ashley Mcbryde, Bible and a . 44. I really think you would enjoy this song. It really hits home, this song reminds me of my grandfather that passed away almost 2 years ago. Please please please react to this song! There is actually several videos try to find the one in London it has the full song and best live version
Just wanted to thank you for your wise, compassionate, and realistic responses. It takes a long time (if ever) to get over this kind of abuse. When the people who are supposed to protect and nourish you are the very ones doing the abuse and torture it completely turns your world around and leaves you deeply wounded. Every time I see the video it makes me incredibly sad and I too wonder about the "happy ending." The funny thing too is that when you are in this position as a child sometimes you are the last one who is willing to call for your help. It is so easy to see this as a betrayal of the very people who are failing to love you. God bless you too in Jesus's name.
Also... Take a listen to : Letters from home - I Swear - I can love you like that by ; John Michael Montgomery
This type of situation happens in all different walks of life and parts of the USA.
You are absolutely right.... It will need a lot of healing, it takes time 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏🦋🦋🦋
This song, not sure it's my favorite, but has always been the most touching emotional song that always makes me cry smile and appreciate what I have. Amazing
Can't touch it without tears.
I was drawn to your channel to stroll down memory lane, however, listening to you shows you are a person who genuinely cares and express that toward all. God bless you.
Man, I just love your genuine reactions... I think I might just sub...
I love this song... I have heard so many stories similar...
How about, "roses for mamma" Red Sovine... "Don't take the girl"...
And as far as rap goes, I like "dear momma" 2Pac... Oh, and "Brenda has a baby" by 2Pac...
Flowers- Chris Young amazing message
Thank you for recognizing that rap tells stories. Some of it is pure poetry. There is good in all genres.
How sad that your friend had to go through that as a child. No child should ever deal with that.
Sold is a great upbeat toon by John Michael Montgomery
Here are a few songs to react to Kenny Rogers ~~~Lucille , Buy me rose ,the gambler ,ruby don’t take your love to town , greatest of all kenny chesney that’s why I am here ( his first single) Rodney Adkins he’s watching you , if you’re going threw hell,
I love the fact that you were trying not to react much during the song, yet you were.
Just subbed! Love how kind you are, how you respect different types of music. If you want another really good story country song, try private Malone by David ball. That song always gives me goosebumps. Newer country just doesn't have the stories that old country does.
That last part always gets me.
Ya know.....I listened to this song 1 time since it came out. I cant stomach it, as beautiful of a song as it is. I was that kid....only i was 11 and didnt have a couch to hide behind...I watched the video and im sitting here bawling......it's a nightmare to live through. It helps hearing other people have lived through the same hell.
So many more songs by him !!! Love the reaction
Brought tears to my eyes
Every time I hear this song I cry😪
I heard this song January 1 at 12 AM and I was just this song, broke my heart a little bit, it was as sad as Alyssa lies
i love your closing statement.... same to you.
this song always makes me tear up if not outright cry
Tread careful through
this beautiful story.
Another great song you should try this aint nothing by Craig Morgan
This song always breaks your heart. Twice...
Wow that is, in my opinion, one powerful song.
This song always makes me cry and it didn't fail to this time either
I'm so glad your friend survived I hope he thrived eventually
Thank you for sharing your story at the end of the video. This stuff is real
Glad you enjoyed it!
OMG! I AM CRYING OVER HERE!! 😢😢😢 VERY HEARTFELT!!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜it's John Michael Montgomery!
This is such a fantastic song my favorite I cry every time I see this video
I remember this from a long time ago. I always liked Montgomery Gentry music!
Modern Renaissance Man
- I know you aren't a big fan of your subscribers sending you links, but if it's OK I wanted to send you a link to one of my own recordings. I just saw this reaction video for this particular song, and then listened to your own story about a similar situation with a friend of yours it reminded me of a song that I recorded myself about 7 years ago. There was an old song from the early 70's called "Billy's Christmas Wish" that I had heard once, and even though I had just heard it the one time MANY years ago, it had stuck with me. Back in 2012 around Christmas time, locally a little boy had been brought to the hospital where I work who had been badly beaten, and there was evidence that he had bones that hadn't healed correctly which meant that this beating wasn't the first- he had survived many such beatings bad enough to break bones... Well, this time, he didn't survive. Our Emergency staff worked on this boy for an hour or more after he stopped breathing, desperately trying to save his life. After we lost the battle to save this little boy, the tears fell like rain not only in the Emergency room, but all through our hospital the word of what happened really hit everyone HARD. I have a little home recording studio and had been working on a Christmas album for a local singer, but after this event with the little boy, that old song Billy's Christmas Wish came back to my mind. I asked the singer who I had been working with doing a Christmas album if they would record the song for the album- well, the singer said it was too sad and they didn't want to do it, so I went into the studio and recorded it myself on Christmas Eve of 2012. The sobbing you hear in my voice as I recited the story is real, I actually had to do quite a few takes just to keep the crying to a minimum- so what you hear in the song is an edited version, a combination of around 10 takes put together with the least amount of sobbing. I couldn't help it, that little boys death wouldn't leave my mind as I recited the lyrics from the sheet I had in front of me. If you get time to listen to that recording I made, it would mean a lot to me. Here is the link- ua-cam.com/video/NeavZjO0yRg/v-deo.html
I am a subscriber of yours, I've been watching you for some time, but only subscribed recently. I like the way that you respect all types of music and I like what you are about- I think what got me on to your videos is that you are REAL. You say what you feel and are honest. Anyhow, sorry for breaking your rule and sending a link. I appreciate your time.
Great video and insight!
Another one to listen to is Three Wooded Crosses done by Randy Travis. People should pay attention to what goes on around them.
This is my kind of soul music.
I like your reactions to videos because you give genuine, heart felt, and great advice. You reach a lot of people that might be in similar situations to particular videos such as this one, broken wing, believe, among others. I know you like guitar solos and meaningful songs, so if you'd react to Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird (Live August 21st, 1976) I'd appreciate it. God bless and thank you for taking time out of your day for reaction videos.
My dad was a career veteran on 32 years.
😪I hope your friend and his mother are in a good place now.I mean mentally, physically, their hearts.❤
Man when I was little and my dad heard this song for the first time he lost it. We all did.
Great song
what a tragic story for your friend and his mother.
Such a powerful song and video
Another sad one but good ending. At least the child was saved. Thank you
Brings tears to my eyes. REPORT ANY SUSPICION OF ABUSE.
You're great man. Keep going.
I just love that the little girl met Jesus through all the chaos. She had never met Him until He came to her behind the couch, just when she needed Him most. She didn't know who Jesus was, until she went to church with her new family. Love it!
This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
Please check out Tyler Childers from Kentucky. His album Purgatory has been out for a year. His band is called The Food Stamps. Great writer singer and group of musicians. Old school country story telling about a modern world. Whitehouse road Universal Sound. Give it a try. Plus Great job on your part
That makes my heart hurt. Glad he and his mom is ok
I’m related to Daniel Boone and he’s my 6x great grandfather
