Ok yes that is a tough one to be introduced to an artist. He was most popular during the 90’s and has some well known love songs like “I love the way you love me” and “I can love you like that”. He also has some fun upbeat songs like Sold (Grundy County Auction).
I know that this is a tough song to listen to, but that is when you know that you have found a great song. When it can piss you off and make you cry in the same song. Thank you for this reaction.
This is my favorite song like this, with such a powerful message. When she says “ I know that man up there on that cross ...” - it gets me every time. The power of music!! 😢 🙏🏼 ✝️ ♥️♥️
I can not listen to this song with out breaking down into a sobbing heap. The first John Michael Montgomery song I heard was lifes a dance, His song "letters from home" is emotional as well. Saywer Browns "800 pound Jesus" Is sort of in this vein too. This song always reminds me of Martina Mcbrides "Independence day"
John Michael Montgomery was a hit-maker in the 90s and he has a lot of great songs! My favorites of his are No Man’s Land, Friends, Be My Baby Tonight, I Swear, Life’s a Dance, I Can Love You Like That, How Was I To Know, Rope the Moon, The Little Girl, Hold On To Me, I Love The Way You Love Me, If You’ve Got Love, Long As I Live, and Oh How She Shines.
The Little Girl was one of, if not the, last of his really big hits. It's from 2000. I think he had his own troubles with alcohol and drugs soon after but has come back to performing.
He is a good singer. I'd suggest following this up with some of his other songs that are not so hard hitting. Sold (Grundy Country Auction Incident) I Swear I Love The Way You Love Me
My cousins were young when their dad killed their mom. He left the house with the baby girl, but left the older boy hiding in the closet. Went to his mom's, and she turned him in. My younger cousin has turned into an amazing young woman, her brother has had a really tough road. My uncle who took them in, has passed going on 14 years ago now, and his heart and humor are fondly remembered. That song hits hard, and too close to home. Dad went to join him 2 years ago, miss them both. Great reaction vid, thanks.
I knew someone in high school that lived through this. He and his sisters were sleeping, and their dad actually woke them up so they would see him kill their mother and then himself. I felt so sorry for what he went through. If you see this, I'm thinking about you Jerry.
I love John Michael Montgomery and was fortunate to see him live twice. I used to have his CD until I bought a new car and no longer had a CD player in my vehicle. Almost passed on the car because of no CD player!
This song hits different for me. When this song was released similar thing happened to a classmate when in high-school. The difference was that the dad shot the mom, daughter, then himself.
I don’t remember how old I was when this song came out but after listening to it I asked my mom “Why would anyone write or sing about something like that?” She responded by saying “Cause it happens.” That was when I learned monsters aren’t under the bed or in the closet. There right next door.
This is exactly what happened to sisters Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer, who are country singers themselves. They were a little older, teenagers, but yes, their parents died in a murder suicide. I wonder what affect this song has on them.
My husband and I became foster parents so we could legally take in my son’s friend who was being abused. Then we got a call asking if we would foster to adopt a one year old little girl whose situation was exactly what happened in this song. She’s now 7 years old and healthy and happy, and my husband and I call this song “her song.”
if this gets you, i can't wait for you to see Jason Michael Carroll's "Alyssa Lies" and Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel". you WILL be bawling on both of them. have TWO boxes of tissues ready for EACH of these two songs. this one is basically Vegas-style party music compared to those two. that's all the warning you will get.
ok, for some who are a little lost. when she walks into Sunday School, she see's a picture of Jesus on the Cross. When she says that she knows he got off, the cross, it's because as she was hiding from her father, He was holding her.
Lotta people hate on country music, but they always paint the biggest and sometimes the saddest pictures. It's also sad that those pictures are a reality.
Such a great song; Thank You for reacting to it!! Still *REALLY* hoping to see you reacti to Toby Keith’s tribute song to Oklahoma Sooners, NBA, & jazz guitarist great Wayman Tisdale: ‘Cryin For Me (Wayman’s Song)’ Official Video. It is SO touching & heart felt! Perhaps the only thing more beautiful than the song is their friendship. Stay safe & love much 💖
Would you please watch the music video of Jason Michael Carroll “Alyssa Lies”[The Original Video in High Definition HD]. This song is based on a true event. My older brother Lenny and I went through similar abuse from our parents, in fact, I was just starting 6th grade when I was having emergency surgery for a Detached Retina in my left eye due to, yet another one of my mother’s “on purposes”, another one her rages using my father’s thickets belts and the belt bucket hit my eye, but she kept swinging. I still love my mother, even though she died a few years ago. Parents, PLEASE LOVE your children, they are all gifts from The Lord😊.
The mom part doing drugs still sting a little. My mom did drugs and she never was never the same afterwards. Personality completely changed she used to be that loving caring mom showing it to a guarded mom didn't want to say it or show that love.
I know you don't like it, but that is some real shit. there is "little girls" everywhere. Down here in the deep south, the whole parents doing drugs infront of the kids thing is WAY WAY to common. These kids are being forced out of their childhood with no way out. it is hard to listen to, but this is a great example of why country music is truly amazing. REAL country that is.... Some new stuff is not real country. This singer by the way wrote alot of R&B hits in the 90s for Boyz to Men and All For One just to name a couple.
I think you missed the point.... She didn't know Jesus by name, but she knew HIM by sight. Because the day that her parents died, He came down from the cross and held her tight to her side - shielding and protecting her from the ugliness that was to come, and delivered her to a new family where she got all the love she needed. As a former Foster mom turned adoptive mom, that's my take FWIW
John Michael Montgomery was the Artist who did the Country version of "I Swear"
I'm a very hard hearted person and literally bawl everytime I hear this song. Such a mix of emotions
Ok yes that is a tough one to be introduced to an artist. He was most popular during the 90’s and has some well known love songs like “I love the way you love me” and “I can love you like that”. He also has some fun upbeat songs like Sold (Grundy County Auction).
"Sold" is excellent. I don't know how he has the lungs to sing so many words on rapid order, lol.
Subbed.
Good react, this one is gut-wrenching.
It's a tough video. But just like Martina McBride - "Concrete Angel" and Chris Stapleton - "Fire Away" it's one that needs to be seen.
Fire away totally agree. And even tho it's not a song me the tree and River by granger Smith is very touching
what about allysa lies
@@alancirby4882 he's done that one
I can't do concrete angel.
God bless all kids are in this sad life!
His song Letters From Home is good too. Love this man’s voice. Great reaction!
If this one got to you, so will Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll... 😔😥 But it is SUCH a good song too...
Oh don't do that to me, I cry like a little kid when I hear that song! but concur with you it is a great song.
Powerful song
That one and Concrete Angel
Alyssa Lies is probably the most tragic song about child abuse that I've ever heard. It's so well done, but makes me ball like a baby.
@@stephenblevins3829 yup, also Christmas Shoes (don't remember who sings it) I mean about it makes me cry every time.
I know that this is a tough song to listen to, but that is when you know that you have found a great song. When it can piss you off and make you cry in the same song. Thank you for this reaction.
wonderfully sweet simple song
I've heard this song at least 100 times in my life. It never fails to get me 😭
This is my favorite song like this, with such a powerful message. When she says “ I know that man up there on that cross ...” - it gets me every time. The power of music!! 😢
🙏🏼 ✝️ ♥️♥️
This song gets me every single time. Never fails! I still remember the first time I heard this song.
I can not listen to this song with out breaking down into a sobbing heap.

Saywer Browns "800 pound Jesus" Is sort of in this vein too.

"See no, see no"... Best reaction I have seen.
I'll listen to any genre music as long as it tells a story. That's what makes a song good.
Music connects us all.
Jesus was their with her and wrapped his arms around her. Beautiful and heartbreaking
I have been involved in Child Welfare for 25 years. Deal with drugs and DV everyday. This song and Alyssa Lies fuel me when I need it.
Can you do " There goes my life" by Kenny Chesney. It's my favorite.
You refuse to cry? Challenge excepted
I don't like how they paint it like non Christian = bad. There are good and bad people in all walks of life in all belief systems.
Tears, and chills... such an amazing song.

When you said " no " that hit hard. No means stop doing shit. NO NO NO NO....
She had a tough beginning, but Jesus held her and saved her that day and gave her a new family. Beautiful song
Three wooden crosses - Randy Travis
Letters from home - John Michael Montgomery
Same artist song "letters from home" the last verse always gets me.
"Jesus loved the little children. All the little children in the world." I remember singing this in church often.
He is a good singer. I'd suggest following this up with some of his other songs that are not so hard hitting.

I can not confirm this, but I have heard that this is based on a true story that John Michael Heard and put into song.

this reaction video should have a billion likes
You should listen and react to “Holes in the Floor of Heaven”
by Steve Wariner
You have to do “Alyssa lies” it’s must
As good as they sound, some country songs I find incredibly difficult to sit through. I know the sad ones the second they come on and switch songs.
He held her! that Man on the Croos! say it!
You should do a reaction to John Michael Montgomery's "Letters from Home" too.

Exactly.
You're reaction when the mom was shooting up was my reaction love your reaction keep it 💯 bruh
Such a sad story. but the little girl got a loving family & Jesus protected her behind that couch, when she needed it. Can't be sad about that/
As a long time foster parent, I can tell you these scenarios are all too real 😕
Such a great song; Thank You for reacting to it!!

Sawyer Brown-600 lbs jesus is also a good song.
Ignoring stories like this will not help bring abuse to an end.
Yeah I lived in that neighborhood
This is a tough to get through. John Michael Montgomery has a long list of great songs. Too many to list. My personal favorite is "Cool".

This song is a tough one, but sadly it happens. She got a good life in the end.
Concrete angels is one that I would love to see
You gotta do The Call by Matt Kennon
The mom part doing drugs still sting a little. My mom did drugs and she never was never the same afterwards. Personality completely changed she used to be that loving caring mom showing it to a guarded mom didn't want to say it or show that love.
90s Country
You should check out "Riding with Private Malone " by David ball
Can you react to "Letters from Home" or even Kenny Chesney's "Who you'd be today"
