"They wanted to shoe-horn in Einstein" huh? he literally was oppie's neighbor for a period, those scenes are all real lmao.
If you've seen the TV show Manhattan. He even shows up in that.
I dont think people realize how close that scientific community was during that time. My grandfather, Oskar Morgenstern, was friends with Von Neuman, Einstein, and Gödel. Interestingly, they all thought Gödel was the smartest out of all of them.
Imagine thinking Destiny knows anything about history 😅
@@fuckso2342Well he's a communist so obviously not
LMAO yeah the sooner you accept that Destiny is just completely wrong about everything Oppenheimer, the better. Just terrible take after terrible take
I don't buy this excuse at all that the writers were screwed either way because "they ran out of book material" . Your job as a writer is to have an understanding of the characters you're working with and where their arcs are going. Nobody forced them to rush the white walkers plot, nobody forced them to kill off the sand snakes immediately. Nobody forced them to make Jon Snow a cuck for Danyereas. They just got caught up in their ego about not wanting anyone else to do GoT and they just rushed the ending for their Star Wars project.
*and subsequently got taken off the Star Wars project lmao
Bro, Disney did some actual game of thrones shit to game of thrones.
I’m actually sympathetic to D&D’s position in this case. They’re not writers, their TV producers. Their job was not to make up more story. Their job was to adapt the books that GRRM wrote (should have written). It’s not their fault that GRRM hasn’t written anything in the GOT series in the last decade. If they had dragged the show on for longer, the cracks would have been even more apparent. Now, the way they ended the last couple of seasons was completely disgraceful, but would you really have enjoyed it more if they dragged it out for another 5 seasons?
@@yining200
Nah I'm not sympathetic and they don't deserve it. They were given endless funding and episodes by HBO to finish the show in a proper manner. It's not like they were struggling to meet deadlines. Plus I'm pretty sure that's not true that they're producers and not writers. Also yes whatever would have happened if they took their time would have been objectively better than what we got. There is ZERO reason for them to have messed it up that hard. If anything they should have done the right thing and just hired writers if they couldn't figure out how to continue the story.
@@yining200I’m with you that D&D get maybe a little too much hate, they’re actually very good adapters.. but adapting is not the same as writing new material. That being said they do deserve some hate, as they had all the resources in the world to make a good ending
The Targaryen coinflip is an in-universe myth. There is like a 100 named Targaryens and 5 or 6 of them were actually le mad. Also some if not all of those cases can be explained by other factors
1:20 tywin was absolutely smarter but his obsession with his families image was his downfall
IDK he had a psychological advantage against tyrion. He was abusive, and hated tyrion. Tyrion never felt like he was enough for his father, felt shame, and useless.
Could have been a strategic move against tyrion to exert control over him, while also he just genuinely hated tyrion. Honestly probably developed into a strategic move later on as his kids started to grow up. Made them all feel shitty so they would fear him and stay in line.
But because of the huge psychological edge I don't think you can say Tywin is smarter based on their exchanges alone.
@@Oscar-bj9utI think Tywin was more ruthless, not necessarily smarter.
@@dylankempthorne Yeah but I'd just characterize that as another part of being smart, you can't exercise your intelligence properly if you're too soft or sentimental.
@@saraarlavi4217 Actually having morals doesnt make you dumber.
@@dylankempthorne No, but it makes you do dumb things, so in the end there's little difference. Also ruthlessness doesn't mean "no morals". Just willing to do things most people wouldn't.
Destiny “what negative drawback does Daenerys suffer from losing her kid?”
Mauler “ … losing her kid.”
Lol god I love mauler!😂
Mauler and Destiny have great chemistry
almost aba tier
I think they bring out the best in each other. Both Mauler and Destiny generally make content around talking to people who aren't dumb, but certainly less intelligent than them, so when they talk to each other I get a better idea of their intellectual capacities.
Nuclear chemistry ⚗️
The last few seasons of Game of Thrones will be the biggest cinematic disappointment for centuries. Actually disgusting how they could ruin such an amazing concept and story.
I wish they would redo the last two seasons animated but getting the original actors for voices. That would be so dope, maybe in a style similar to Netflix’s castlevania
I feel you but there’s still the phantom menace. The hype for the first trailer & disappointment once the movie released is unprecedented to this day.
@@_eggersabsolutely not. PM aged like fine wine compared to modern SW. And this is coming from a hard Otr fan
I gotta say, hearing Mauler stress how important characters are reminds me of how salty I was when he released the EFAP on Avatar: TLA and understood none of it.
Crazy they made Arya kill the Night King because Jon Snow was "too predictable", but included the Clegane bowl as fan service....
For years I was waiting for Jon Snow to go at it with the Ice king. That shit was so fucking gay.
All I want for Christmas is more of Mauler and Destiny arguing over movies.
I absolutely love Mauler vs. Destiny.
One of my biggest complaints about G.oT was the omission of Lady Stoneheart and Cersei's valonqar prophecy from Maggy the witch. Context for those who don't know: In the books, Catlyn Stark is brought back to life by Baeric Dondarrion when he gives up his own after the red wedding, and she goes on a war path hanging any Lannister or Frey affiliated people. As for the valonqar prophecy, Maggy told Cersei she would be strangled by the valonqar, which is high valyrian for "little brother". Cersei believed this meant Tyrion, which explains part of her hate for him, but readers speculate that it will actually be Jamie who kills her since he was born after her.
How they butchered Jaimes' character development was inexcusable.
@@tanimal3964
Didn’t they ruin _everyone’s development?_ Like literally every character just regressed or never grew further
@@BareBandSubscription Yeah, but Jamie in particular. He was wonderful even when he was awful. A true anti-hero. He does everything he can do to prove he has no honor and is not worthy of trust yet we all still trust and honor him for some reason.
Destiny NEEDS to watch HotD if he likes seeing the consequences of actions. Season 2 is going to get fucking WILD.
@Bob-fv9vj one can say the meat of the story of HOTD started in the last episode of season 1
Yeah HOTD isn’t that great, especially if you’re talking about consequences.
That show constantly ignores them.
@@YourBlackLocal Ignores consequences? Oh boy, are you in for a treat in the next season lmao
@@YourBlackLocal Bro the end of Season one of GoT is ignoring every consequence in the world. That's the point.
@@johns1625 You gotta up your reading comprehension.
Tywin was a genius and the show didn't have to tell us that. We could see it with his actions.
Tywin was not a genius lmao
if Tywin was a genius then he wouldn't have treated Tyrion, his smartest son and the best hope of his house, the way he did
@@georgevelis4651 You can still be a genius and have shortcomings. Tywin was a master of strategy but his downfall was his callous nature towards his family. In particular his hatred of Tyrion largely stems for the death of Tywin's wife while giving birth to him.
@@georgevelis4651 Tywin was a genius but had a very problematic personality. He hated and resented his son for being disabled thats why he treated him terribly despite his son being extremely intelligent. Where do you think tyrion got his intelligence from? Tywin . Tywin literally controlled the whole kingdom without being king, thats true power.
Not really, he got assfucked in the war of five kings he’s not smart he’s just not afraid to resort to the most brutal methods
The whole season felt like someone put my head in a blender and by the time I heard bran the broken is king my head was paste
They should’ve done Ueron Greyjoy’s Cthulu-esque story in a spin-off. Or at least included it in the show.
They ruined his character so much in the show.
they didnt ruin him they straight up didnt even include euron greyjoy
Jon Snow was the only person who was smart enough to know that the pointless politics was distracting people from the real threat that was coming to conquer them all
Jon Snow being street smart lul
The Merlin recommendation is hilarious
BASED
I don't know if Tywin is actually 'smarter' but he's certainly much more mentally disciplined, which can really come through if the dialogue is done well.
It's amazing to me that all Destiny has to do to distract from any drama that's going on is give a bad movie take.
His fans will fall over themselves arguing whether he's right or wrong when really that time would be better spent arguing over whether or not Destiny is a girls name. Which it is.
Oppenheimer released him from defending “slavery gave many people useful skills” and his DOGSHIT streaming take

@@realityshifter3399 I said he defended it, and yeah it’s part of the new Florida school curriculum.
@@Littlewings1984 I have to look into it.
When talking about characters, you can really tell the difference between book fans and show fans.
In the book Robb Stark is tricked by the Westerlings (bannermen to the Lannisters) when he fell in love with Jane Westerling after a siege, her mother was giving her moon tea to prevent pregnancy because it was a long winded plot to cause division within the north by getting Robb to break his marriage oath.
Imagine having a miscarriage and this epic gamer tells you to get the fuck over it. Thats sigma
No, the show got over it in two eps, if the show did. Why would he care more?
Yeah the miscarriage meant nothing wasted opportunity
@@A_3000Her relationship with her dragons is literally a substitution for her unborn child. The strong emotional attachment she has for them and the effects it has in her story is all about that unborn child.
@@SantosAl Not potrayed well in the show then, if it's implied in the books, fair.
Thank you for the time stamps
A middle ground between Rowling and Martin is where it (ideally) would be at. Rowling's schedule is to be commended, but the writing sometimes really suffers.
The whole "one book delay corrections" (e.g. time turners) and gaping plotholes, all of the "Twitter lore" and some from the page, although I'f prefer the plotholes over most of the "fixes" there. Also hard world building issues (death eathers being able to claim "imperious" but truth potions being a thing, Crouch Jr. being a prodigy as strong as Voldemort, Grindelwald and Dumbledore combined).
27:08 i thought of this too, but how do you let main characters who survive get to King's Landing, by dragons? That would mean only like 10-20 characters would fly out and the rest are left behind like that. How long would they march south is another question, cause they've been marching for a long time just to get to Winterfell. And then the other issue, what would happen in-between these battles, some conflicts with Cersei and Daenerys, another "wait for the long night" type of episodes, i'm not sure how to play it out
In the books, Robb doesn’t marry the girl out of love. He does it because he took her virginity when she was comforting him over the death of his father. He was preserving her honor. It wasnt weakness/stupidity on his end. It was his way of accepting the consequence of his own weakness.
The scene with King Robert and Cersei fighting over Jofferey being a dick to Arya and clearly lying, when she keeps on talking back to him after like 4 warnings until he finally smacks her in the mouth, and she says "The bruise will show before everyone, and I will wear it with honor." and he just turns to her and says "You will wear it in silence, or I'll honor you again". So good.
We went from that to "She is our queen!" - "Yes, Jon, but she shouldn't be..." - "SHE. IS. MY. QUEEN!" 😆😆
"There's nothing in Oppenheimer to like" is absolutely one of the shittiest take in the history of shittiest take.
In Qarth she didn't plan to kill anyone. the one guy tried stealing her dragons and the other lied about his wealth to trick Daenerys into marriage and some other things happened. People made her go mad. she wasn't born mad like other Targaryens
Actually after the battle Jon does tell the people handling reikons body that he wants his brother buried in the crypt. And THEN he is never mentioned again lol
People forget that grrm has NEVER finished a series of books. Even his weird scifi universe just stopped.
28:00 Have Winterfell fall, make it so that the zombie army gets to King's Landing, and have KL explode thanks to the wildfire caches.
Tbf after rewatching the earlier seasons game of thrones is plagued by characters making dumb decisions. Of the tip of my head, catylin taking tyrion captive for the thinking he pushed her son out the window even though her husband and daughters are in kings landing which is basically a lannister household endangering them, the widling trusting jon snow so easily welcoming him into their ranks and ofcourse rob breaking his oath.
they did not do the time skip well. I thought the uncle was funding his child niece because I missed a single sentence talking about time
GoT season 1-4 are not just the best television ever, they are (by far, it’s not even close) the best pieces of AV media ever and it’s not up for debate
The lighting issues are due to making it for HDR and not shit tv's from the nineties😅
Tywin is a step ahead of Tyrion because he has an incredible amount of entrenched power, is his father and lacks any compassion.
Tyrion has been handicapped his whole life. Its incredibly easy for a man like Tiwyn to be a step ahead of Tyrion. It is not because of intelligence.
We need a mauler vs destiny argue about movies at least once a week. They feed off each other so well lol.
I need Destiny's review of Deadwood
Love the gun on the wall.
13:00 in a cold pragmatic way yeah losing your kid to make way for potential marriage to form an alliance is a benefit, only Destiny seems to forget it broke Dany at the time to the point she threw herself into her husbands pyre. Even if your political standing increases the mental state of your leader is important too which ultimately contributed towards Dany's madness and started her down the path of being the mass murdering lunatic we see.
But at the same time she ends up getting 4 dragons because of it.
I don’t see how race swapping guenivir to a black slave is a reason to watch Merlin, can’t we for once keep the source material true to the story
Gueniveres race was the least of its issues if you value lore accuracy, my dude. It was basically a worse Smallville with Merlin as the Hero.
Destiny "what did she lose as a result of losing her kid?"
Mauler "losing her kid".
I live that destiny is so practical minded he didnt realize "oh shit that is traumatic".
She lost her kid, and her ability to ever have any kid ever again, which means no heirs, which means her conquest will be for nothing no matter what. She lost EVERYTHING
Anime catching up to an unfinished manga, and then turning to crap is something anime viewers have experience many times.
Game of Thrones was simply the live-action enjoyer’s first experience with this established phenomenon.
The honor and nobility that were the Stark's biggest base traits evolved detrimentally. By the end of the show, they were no better than the Lannisters. Their waxing nostalgic about Ned after his death is quickly forgotten along with anything that made them the one dimensional characters they ended up being. Lone wolf dies, but the pack survives indeed.
The revival of Jon in s6 was so underwhelming, no exploration of what death could be and how that changed him - a missed opportunity and by s8 he was a prop. Sansa was the smartest person ever thanks to writers foresight and dumbing down of others. Arya used to be great but she was constantly killing any plot she ran into with smugness and #girlboss. The Bran-2000 did nothing - I would have loved to see him interact with Cersei who also just stared for the last 2 seasons.
Robert Baratheon Laser eyes need I say more
It is kinda miraculous how immediaty and suddenly game of thrones fell off the fucking map after s8. It felt like everyone just cut that part of their lives out within 3 weeks of the end of s8 and its something that will be studied in schools in future curriculum
The reason Ned died is he knew that Robert would kill Cersei *and* her children once he learned the truth about them. Hurting children is unacceptable to him. He fought with Robert about it before (when Robert wanted to have Daenerys assassinated) and it’s why he hates the Lannisters so much (even though Aerys Targaryen murder Ned’s brother and father he still hates Tywin Lannister for having Aerys’s children killed).
Basically, if Ned revealing the truth led to Robert wanting to kill Cersei’s kids than either Ned would be responsible for their death or he would have to commit some sort of treason to prevent Robert from doing it. So the only way to protect Robert without getting himself killed was to tell him the truth but FIRST give Cersei a chance to flee
Kit Harrington was also in the crappy Silent Hill: Revelations movie
Woof… god, that was bad
Maulenheimer: but Steven it's her child
Steven Truman: you think people remembered that kid in season 2?!
**Maulenheimer leaves the room**
Destiny to RedTeam "don't let that crybaby back in here"
4:19 its not a very stark trait to be unbelievably dishonorable which is what Robb did, not to say that was a poorly written or out of character thing he did but still the point stands. Also, that is absolutely the worst decision anyone made in that show other excluding seasons 5-8.

Like yes there is some darker elements in both WoT and Cosmere but the overall themes are consistently uplifting. Good conquering evil.

@@gilgabro420each season plays off of the previous season so this one is just setting everything up but there’s a lot more going on in the show than just a look at the cops/dea. You’ll see how every season is meant to look at different portions of Baltimore and how they have all been twisted and warped to fit the world they live in: Schooling, Media, Politics, Manufacturing industries. It’s like watching Steins Gate for the first time and finally getting past that halfway point where the show really reveals how much it had up its sleeve. All the characters are well written and relatable even when they don’t seem to be and almost all, including side characters, go through change which is great to see in a show that is constantly introducing new perspectives to their characters. Destiny should at least have arguments against Oppenheimer that make sense. Did he even watch the movie?
The "Reddit quote" critique is so stupid exactly because destiny read about it on reddit. He should have read more about this quote and know that its from an almost 3000 year old text and the protagonist could read the damn thing!
His uncharitable attitude towards Oppenheimer was a massive L. There’s tons of reasons to love Oppenheimer, especially when you’re someone who actually knows the real history and cares about the history.
I just don't understand how you possibly watch that movie and claim it didn't show what Oppenheimer was feeling when the entire colored footage was from Oppenheimer perspective. The entire post bomb arc was him dealing with feelings of regret, horror and shame for helping create the bomb. It's like Destiny legitimately was asleep or was zoned out for half the film. Sopranos is better than The Wire. Objectively the best piece of television of all time. From the first episode to the finale.
There's a lot of elements of Sophoclean tragedy in Hotd. It's heavy on the themes of 'mysticism' & 'inevitably of fate' of the Greek epics. A show like house of the dragon (& grrm's world in general), which relies a lot on themes & symbolism, & not on linear plot progressions from point A to B...might not be Destiny's forté. I think Destiny's media takes are generally weak because he approaches them from a hyper-rationalist pedantic lens. His primary metrics of judging media is hyper realism. It's almost like he approaches movies like arguments in a debate & the plot as solving some sort of an equation, instead of approaching them as art. I think he sees movies as just stories with actors playing characters in a very mechanical way. He can't see subtext, cinematography, symbolism, he can't infer emotions from the acting without being told how to feel about everything and being spoon fed everything. The drawbacks of "brilliant sociopathy" I guess.
