I voted for Trump in 2020. Right now I would vote for Gavin Newsom. I will not vote for Biden, and if it is Biden vs Trump I will vote for Trump. I live in a swing state.

Honestly, the thing that really annoys me about the presidential debates is that everybody is willing to talk shit about Biden, but I don’t hear anyone talking about how Trump just could not stay on topic for any of the questions. All he really did was basically say, Joe Biden bad during the whole debate. I didn’t hear Trump talk at all about what he wanted the country to be but at least when Biden was coherent he did actually talk about legislation. He passed and things that he did that supposedly improved the country. Why isn’t there a whole movement on the Republican end trying to get Trump removed for basically ranting like a crazy grandpa his meds?
That's kind of why Biden performing badly that night matters so much.
I honestly don't think that Biden's age impacts his ability to govern, he's been doing that his whole life, that knowledge and skill-set is crystallized for him.
Unfortunately, the first job of any president is getting elected, and that requires you to build public confidence in yourself while eroding public confidence in your opponent.
If Biden had come out with State-of-the-Union energy then Trump's horrible performance would be all everyone was talking about. But because Joe got a cold, that opportunity for a rhetorical victory was lost.
He snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. When people in their 80s get sick or injured it really takes a lot more out of them than it does for even someone who is in their 60s, that's one of the problems of aging, and why most people who _can_ retire after the age of 70 generally do so.
It wasn't Joe's fault he got a cold, it isn't Joe's fault he's in his 80s, and it isn't Joe's fault that getting a cold takes a lot out of him.
But it is Joe's (and the DNC's) fault that he was put in a position to fail in the first place. Joe will continue to get colds, and every time he does he'll have another string days until the cold passes. The office of president is too important to be subject to that kind of disruption.
Joe would be an amazing advisor to a president on account of his experience. But Joe should not be the actual president... _Unless_ Joe being president is the thing that stands between the American population and having an open fascist like Trump in the oval office.

The problem with what you really have is how the format was done (biden's team made the format). 2 minutes to talk about a topic isn't enough that's why Trump kept circling back to past subjects/ignoring questions. A lot of small business owners could choose to just work for someone else and make about the same and have a whole lot less stress. Starting your own business takes a different breed of person, you have to be a little crazy and willing to potentially risk everything. That’s why most people don’t.

As Destiny was asking the question about how much a small business owners annual income was, I looked it up on Google. In the state of Washington, where I live the average income for up small business owner is 132,$973. Way below the 400,000 cut off for taxes. So yeah a lot of people don’t actually understand just how little a small business owner makes. By the way, that’s the highest number in all of the United States.
Yeah it's wild how many people simultaneously think a) the economy is terrible, incomes are low and cost of living is out of control, and b) there's a significant voting population of people earning $400,000 per year or more that are capable of swinging elections.

In a similar situation. But I hold to the principle "of two evils, choose neither" as consistently voting for evil only guarantees that, in time, evil will win. Its a game where the only winning move is not to play. Or rather, to reserve your hand until playing will result in a step forward, rather than settling for small, incremental steps backward accepted as the only preferable alternative to a fewer, larger steps backward.

Thats just not true. For starters all humans will make decisions based on their own experience. So say your school where your child was attending had a school shooter, you probably almost exclusively care about crime/gun control. Say you really regret having an abortion when you were young or truly believe we are killing thousands of children. Maybe you are a college student and want some moneys lol. Maybe you came from homelessness and want more focus on welfare. We usually have one major deciding event that happens in our lives that influences who vote and we are not "just picking the most defensible". Secondly its just really really hard to be informed or care about multiple subjects so you will likely only pick one for sheer time sake. Like the most common deciding factor is people asking themselves "is my life better now than it was before?" followed by "why?". Usually that will be one thing that falls under something more broad.
people call themselves single issue voter is because majority of "policy" doesn't come from federal. So most likely they only care about healthcare/taxes/inflation when it comes too the candidates positions. If they were talking about a local election than it's more likely they would not be a single issue voter.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it I think Trump is going to win this presidential race. I could see a world where Biden does take it but unless something changes in the next few months I really don't think Biden is getting a second term.
The problem is after Jan 6th just about anything is a better than Trump.
If it was possible, I would still vote Biden even if he died. I genuinely believe voting for Trump is a direct endorsement for hatred, division, and fascism. It is fundamentally un-American. You cannot both respect your fellow citizens and vote for Trump. You are a bad person if you vote Trump. It is as simple as that.

I agree that a new candidate is risky. However this risk is far outweighed by Biden's age electoral liability after this debate. Destiny set the bar extremely low saying that it would be a disaster if the polls showed Biden is down 10 points. The reality is though they just need to be down more like 5 points for Biden to have very little chance at winning. He needs to step aside, voters were very concerned about his age before the debate, and now we have a massive televised debate that not only validated these concerns but probably far exceeded the expectations of even people pessimistic about Biden's decline.
Or just make the easier choice without the risk of a new candidate, drop Harris like the hot, hateable potato she is, and get VP that is actually popular and people would be fine with running the country. It's the easiest free money move they could make, idk why it hasn't happened.

I'm gonna engage in what will be perceived as extreme pedantry here, but I don't like Destiny SPECIFICALLY using the label of fascist when describing horribly tyrannical actions taken by Trump. "Dictatorial" would be a sufficient characterization, because the actions are spectrum-independent with regards to their political origins. Donald Trump is not engaged with the specific philosophy or characterizations of what would be distinctly fascist in nature vs some other form of authoritarianism, nor is anything Trump is doing unique to the rise of fascism. These forms of dictators and demagogues have existed for time immemorial. The reason to be against such misuse of language, ie. calling something simply dictatorial as "fascist", it because it continues to water down the terminology, makes identifying actual fascism harder, and has a VERY high likelihood of "boy who cried wolf" syndrome.
Donald Trump is not explicitly fascist in the way that Mussolini outlined how fascists should be. But he doesn't need to be for us to consider him contemptible. There are better vocabulary for his despicable actions. Destiny should know better than than to engage in this; he would easily recognize it for what it was if it was Republicans misusing terms like "communist".
To be fair, it’s a lot easier to call somebody out when they call somebody a communist when they’re not a communist. Communism is a very clear idea where as fascism isn’t. Mussolini, Hitler, and Franco were three very different politicians who people call fascist. But it seems to me that people like Joseph Stalin and Tito were pretty similar. They just fought each other over very small differences.
This depends a lot on what you mean when you say 'fascist'.
I like Umberto Eco's 14 traits. If you go through them, enough of them apply to Trump that by that standard 'fascist' it's a justified label for him.

@@Naxela625 If the only people who can qualify to be considered fascists are members of political parties who explciitly call themselves fascists then I think that's going to be an issue there given the incentives for fascists to misrepresent themselves are often very high.
For example, the Nazis called themselves socialists. Fascists are demonstrably not consistently reliable witnesses to their own political agendas.
I think the better option is to look at what fascists _do_ rather than merely listening to what they _say_ - and that's one of the strengths of Umberto's traits.
I'm open to other observational frameworks too, I'm not an Umberto evangelist. I just think that taking what fascists say about themselves at face value is deeply naive.

Destiny has been great on a lot of topics as of late. That said, his inability to acknowledge the level to which Biden has degraded is so bad faith and cringe it makes it hard to get through these videos. Yes Trump is a liar and a scumbag. He’s also able to complete a full sentence so at least he’s beating Biden there.
You can look at so many performances by him and you can tell he’s still there. Especially seeing him on tours all night and day since the debate.
