Subie is coming along nicely!! All the extra bells and whistles on the newer Subies are starting to grow on me. But I'm still partial to the no frills all thrills of the 07 Hawkeye & 02 Bugeye I used to own.

Thanks for this awesomely detailed install video! So I watched both your 2018 sti idoing install and your 2021 sti install video, and I think the attention to detail is better in the 2021 video. I'm going to be installing a new idoing in MY 2018 STI in a few days and I'm wondering if there's any difference between the 2018 and 2021 install? They look nearly identical but figured I'd ask in case there's anything you can think of that im not noticing? Thank so much!! :)

So the Harmon karden speakers go thru the stock black unit? And the reverse cam?
You're the best wiring video on yt by far no one else said to keep the stock black box.
If your doing the install and you get a loud buzzing sound when connected to Bluetooth but not with the radio and no signal when you try reverse camera @15:49 shows a black plug that has to be plugged in to unit where factory wiring plugs. It will fit in a spot where all the idoing connections plug but thats not where it goes. I would definitely say this is not the hardest install I've done but it also was far from the easiest. Unplugging stock headunit plugs was the hardest and I actually broke a clip. I installed it with GPS and 4g antenna with added a hole bunch more crap that I did not need to do but I just wanted it fully installed incase I ever wanted to use those features. I put the 4g antenna in driver side A piller and GPS antenna under the tweeter cover. It has yet to connect so I will probably have to move it at some point. As for getting it to fully seat into the dash ill mess with that another day. Its in and secure but the top of the besele is not fully clipped in. Other than that, WOW is all I have to say. The improvements over stock are very impressive! This unit with kicker speaker upgrade and 2 12's is almost professional level sound quality! So many sound settings you can tweak and make it sound even better.
did the starlink box get in the way of you fan controls? im having this issue

Are you able to watch UA-cam and Netflix if you just connected to the hotspot or other things required ?
And I know the center consul USB ports are not compatible with the head unit after you replace it but , do they still get power so you can use them for other things ?
After watching these I think I'll go with an Alpine head unit. iDoing from what I understand is awful about RMAs, and they have no website that you can access from the US for a user manual, instructions, product specs or anything else.
I'll pay extra for guaranteed great sound quality and a head unit that won't shut off on me.
How does it handle reestablishing SXM? Can the app carry over, is it pre-installed (log in again) , or do you have to go through your phone. Does it sound that much better than the Starlink 6.5" and 7" units in base and premium trims.

Is there any other way to attach the starlink unit to the bottom? I don't have 2 sided sticky tape so I'm kind of at a loss right now.

Yea just got my idoing radio for my 2018 Sti and this video is very helpful. Thinking about tackling it myself and see how it goes . I like those interior trim and interested in the Sti push to start where did you get that from ?

did you solve this issue. I only just installed mine and I am getting the same problem. everything else works it seems.
The reason they overnighten the bolts is because the car hits bumps and as it hits bumps they will loosen
Can it connect wireless to the head unit?
I installed mine and I must say the OEM wires are bloody short, I had mine like almost vertical and had to almost look downwards on it. After installing it I cannot get the reverse camera to work. It's the 4pin wire that goes into the funny adaptor and also has the satellite switches on the 4pins. I have reinstalled the old unit and the camera works, but putting the Idoing back in, it does not work the reverse camera, so frustrating. Any tips anyone?

I ordered a magnetic 10mm socket to reduce the chances of dropping the two bolts...fingers crossed
Thanks for sharing this. I watched your video (and a few others) several times as I tried to get this done this past weekend. I made the same radio boo-boo lol; I'll have to make sure to do that when I go back in this weekend!

Any advice on how to get the top part of the head unit to stay in place? for some reason my head unit doesn't want to click and stay in place.
I believe you may have to shave off a clip. There was another video where the dude had to shave it off in order to get it to fit.

@@ElectricShock14 so I figured it out. I have to pull the top center screen that displays the backup camera on screen and plug in the 2 remaining connectors.
Hey man I saw that you also had trouble with a gap at the top of the idoing headunit when trying to put it back in but you eventually got it. I have that gap and don’t know how to fix it. Any pointers?

There's usually a million audio shops around that can do these kinds of things quick. Do your research just like with mechanics so you don't get overcharged or sold unnecessary stuff
...in theory, it isn't difficult. Knowledge is your best tool. You can watch as many how-tos as you like, but eventually you have to take the plunge and dive in. It does help to know what each harness/wire does, but for the most part, the harnesses are different shapes so they only go in one place. You can take your car to an audio shop; however, some don't install gear not bought at their store and others charge more for outside products. Shop/ask around...or find a (good) friend to help.
