    But there is still an expense that isn't discussed here, and one that many POD youtubers don't seem to mention: the cost of making the product, in this case, the t-shirt. For example, if I use Printify and connect it to an Etsy shop, then a customer buys my shirt, I have to pay for the shirt upfront to have it made and shipped by Printify. Yes, Etsy will "pay me back" after taking their own fees out, but this alone takes times--especially if your shop if less than 90 days old. In that case, you have to wait one week to be paid.
    So what happens if you have a shirt suddenly get 10 orders in one day (we'll say the shirt is selling for $20)? Because that would be $200 for you to cover, and that's not including the shipping which you also have to pay for upfront (as in, before you are paid by Etsy)
    So my question is, how much do money do you actually need to run a POD store with this in mind?

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Рік тому +3

      Excellent question! This is something I try to talk about in almost every POD video I make because you are right nearly nobody talks about it. Priority/Printful/Shopify/Etsy are all active POD sites (meaning you have to actively manage the customer service, bring your own traffic, and pay that upfront cost at every order). Just for clarification Etsy brings their own traffic so they are somewhat different. The sites I use and always recommend are the passive POD sites. These sites like Amazon Merch on demand, Teepublic, zazzle, etc do not require any upfront cost at each order, plus they take care of the customer service and traffic for us. These are the sites I use and recommend because you will have no costs associated with them, especially the one at each order like the active sites. I hope that helps!

    Hi Greg, a friend was just telling me about POD and I came across your video within an hour. I used to sell T-Shirts back in the 80's with designs I drew. I would take my drawings to a local company who did silk screens of my drawings. Although I loved to draw the designs I hated everything else so I gave up the business within a year. I retired last October and would like to do the passive POD version, but I'm not that good with computers. I'm 70 years old and the only thing I know how to do on my computer is email, pay my bills online and watch UA-cam videos. Do you have a video that can teach me how to transfer my drawings on paper to a T-Shirt on Printify? Or does Printify have something on their website. Any guidance or direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning to watch your Full Print On-Demand Tutorial tomorrow and any other video you recommend. Thanks Greg.

    Hey greg 👋
    I applied for merch by Amazon as a content creator, but I got rejected.
    I mentioned all the points suggested by you in your “how to get accepted” video except the “existing traffic” one, because I have just started my POD business so I don’t have any traffic.
    Can that be a reason for my rejection? Should I first get some initial traffic on other platforms and apply again? Or should I apply right away with some modifications in my application?

    Greg you are amazing at what you do. Keep uploading that great content. Hey, quick question I’m thinking about starting my POD business. I just wanted to know how many listings should I start off with? I don’t want to put out too little listings and I also don’t want to put out too much. What’s the sweet spot to get it started?

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Рік тому +2

      Thanks Rennie, I appreciate that! I’d aim for a minimum of 50 designs and make sure they are all uploaded to the big POD sites. I’d make sure you are on Amazon Merch on Demand (you’ll have to apply for this one though so it may take 2 weeks to get accepted), RedBubble, Teepublic, and then if you are willing I’d also go onto Zazzle and maybe even Spreadshirt. Just be sure to hit the main 3. That should be enough for you to see sales starting within a month or so of starting. There’s more advice I’d like to make sure you do right so please check out the full tutorial 2023 version on the channel to make sure you have the niche/design/listings all right. I hope that helps!

    Should I get a business set up with LLC first?

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Рік тому +1

      Great question. You don't need to. I recommend waiting until you are making $50k/yr to consider setting up an LLC. It's all just added benefit, but a little extra in the beginning in my opinion. Everything can be done through you personally and just added to your personal income as other income. I hope that helps!

    Greg,so sorry to bother u,so i started print on demand recently,i picked fitness niche,and i made in total around 90 designs,now i know my designs aren't really niche specific,but i feel like i am running out of quotes and designs already,i use canva on my pc,and have used typorama on my phone recently,had to pay 5 eur,but it is what it is,and in every video about print on demand,u make t shirts about different niches,so can i post different niches in same store(which i assume i shouldn't at all) or should i make a new account and post some other niche there,bcs i really feel like i am running out of quotes for fitness for example

    • @GregGottfried
      @GregGottfried  Рік тому +5

      No worries. Yes, you can post different niches on the same account nowadays because storefronts have become more/less a thing of the past. The listings are all marketed individually now. Just be sure you are specifying what the niche is within the title/description/tags. Look into sub-niches as well. Fitness overall is fine, but 90 designs should just be scratching the surface. There should be thousands of sub-niches to go into (think cycling class instructor, or even cycling class enthusiasts etc.). More on that here: ua-cam.com/video/3W_Uv3RhDd8/v-deo.html Hope that helps!

    Hello Greg Thanks for all this information. I’ve finally uploaded my designs on Tee Public. I noticed my designs didn’t show up in the search. I got a message from them saying my designs or storefront won’t be featured or in the search. Tee Public won’t give any reasons or offer help on how to get some love. Do you have suggestions to get shown? Has anyone experienced this on Tee Public ??

    • @lindabevier9081

      I’ve had the same problem. I was under the impression that they did the marketing in there marketplace. But if you can’t find it in the search, then it is not passive anymore because you have to do the marketing. I don’t see the purpose of uploading if you cannot find it in the search.
