- High mileage Carrera GT's are a rare sight, especially 66,000 mile cars, so when this one came up for sale at the Octane Collection recently we had to have a drive!!
We took to the slippery roads of peak district in less than ideal conditions with SCD member and Porsche fanatic Charles, to see if he could tame the beast and whether Carrera GT really deserves its notorious reputation.
This car is currently for sale at £400k!

The guy who owned and put all those miles on that car is a real hero, kudos to you Sir!
He is! Thanks for watching
Knocked off $30K the purchase price
There was footage of it when he first bought it, with missing panels and being drifted around the field.
Spared no expense.
Drew Flanagan Amen
MORE of him. He's not shy about the camera, he knows what he's talking about, and he's clearly passionate. Brilliant fella. More of him, please.
Agreed! You’ll see a video we did with his yellow F40 if you look back on our channel. Filmed it all in one take too
Certainly a top 10 best car of all time
Definitely! For so many reasons
Absolutely, one of a kind. Definitely in my lottery win fantasy car garage
And one of best sounding.
@@gregorizi You god damn right it is! V10s makes the best sound
@@Platypus_Warrior Lexus lfa, great V10 sound too, or even better. It depends....
This car has aged better than any other modern supercar
It’s timeless imo
Its definitely aged way better than the Enzo and SLR but then again I never really found the Enzo to be attractive even when it was new
except for that ugly ass steering wheel.
Still looks beautiful. I still remember first time it started up next to me and my ears almost flew away! It has always been my favorite car when i was younger!
Except it really hasn't.
If you park it next to a new Porsche 992, it's very clear how dated the car actully is.
Even more so if you look at the back with those exhaust pipes.
And interior wise, it's also quite apperent, especially if you ever been in a 996 of the same era.
The buttons for instance are quite plastic feeling, unlike the more solid button feel on the 991 or new 992.
But it still looks and sounds great, which i reckon is the most important aspects of owning one of these cars.
One word for the owner: LEGEND!!!
You are my hero and I think Every car guy’s hero to.
I think we all agree with that statement
That V10 in the GT has to be one of the best sounding road engines of all time. Dream car.
Definitely!!
Beautiful sound indeed. LFA takes the crown for me though
@@abrasionthermals9172 lol good luck with that
My absolute favorite! I believe that this car will go down in world history as one of most fascinating and interesting cars in general. He never gets old. Incredible charisma, technique and sound! Thanks for great video!
Andrej Esaul thanks for watching and commenting! Agreed, a legendary car and one you really have to treat with respect or it’ll bite, and in the same breath it’s so rewarding. The engine is sublime
@TheSUPERCARDRIVER, i agree, a supercar should be like that. To enjoy his curbing, learning his character, and not the performance figures, as in modern "hypercars".
So true...I think it was a bit underappreciated when it was in production as it felt like the ferrari enzo and later bugatti veyron got more attention as people were fascinated with the design and tech in those cars. The CGT was always a bit simpler and primal...probably more like the revered ferrari F40 than the later cars ferrari produced to succeed the F40. It really seems to have finally gained the recognition and appreciation it deserves the past 5 years or so as one of the best supercars ever produced. Even if the performance, looks, design, etc, did not live up to the hype, the sound of that engine (and it truthfully sounds best just as it came from the factory, not straight piped) has had me hooked since day one. The only thing close would be the LFA but I still think the CGT has the best noise.
The F1 wants a word. GT is my #2
@@andrewroy6376 Amen.
my god, it looks so good all dirtied up like that
Doesn’t it just!!
Nice M3 on your profile pic 👌🏼
Marc Wheels thanks! It’s my baby 😅
Do you have some pure driving footage you could upload as well?
I’m sure we could do that
@@scd Awesome!

My absolute favorite car, very cool to see a new video about it as I've seen all the others about it plenty of times already.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting
Same here, top work chaps
I would really love to see an interview with the previous owner, not only for being a bloody hero, but to hear the whole story, the adventures, how tf was he able to get so knowledgable about it, what he did to it, etc.
Great shout! Wonder if he’d be up for it 👀
@@scd He has no reason not to. Please do try.
@@cutdepiefails6596I know the owner that did the miles on it. Mainly driving it from Dorset to nurbergring, spa etc. Did loads of track days and drove it properly.
@@iwannabentleyWho's it?
Best sounding V10. No not the LFA. One of the best sounding cars ever. Goosebumps!
It’s a screamer!!
troy anguin you are right !
They're both unique and both have the best sounding V10s mankind is ever going to hear.
Two best sounding cars ever made... Definitely.
LFA SOUNDS BETTER
The sound, just the sound !! Words can't possibly describe it. Hats off to you and the owner for this fantastic video.
Credit to the Octane Collection for letting us loose! The sound is unique - nothing like it
The pinnacle of analog supercars, paired with a V10 soundtrack that is just pure music! 🎶
They don't make cars like this anymore 😢
This car is Pure Love!!
Shout out to the cameraman
Excellent work
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
The finest piece of machinery ever built. The car that defines the word Timeless.
Best supercar or hypercar sound ever made, and without muffler, if you know vralexander,RIP, one legend!
Yep used to watch all his videos
This video needs to blow up, best footage I’ve seen on the Carrera GT.
Thank you buddy! Hope it gets the love it deserves 😇
This video is up there with petrolicious with the video footage. Super good shots
The Greatest road car engine sound. Ever. Bar none
It’s epic
The owner is a real hero. This was one of my dream cars back in the day
He’s a legend
Absolutely fantastic! That's how these cars should be used, not kept in some dehumidified garage and taken out every few years to show how rich the owner is! 👍
You know it!
I didn't realize they were 5.7 liters either, great video, thank you!
Thanks for watching
5.7L hemi power 😁
Please get this man reviewing cars full time! Only second to Chris Harris. The car world needs more of this man please!!
That comment at 6:47 was mad
Yea was that a Paul Walker reference?
@@StochasticWolf Definitely. Didn't appreciate that too much lol
@@FlagnarBoobz That was not classy at all and totally uncalled for
@@StochasticWolf agreed
I am fortunate enough to have a friend (RIP) who owned one of these in my home town. I drove it (and nearly every other exotic he owned). These things are so incredible! This and the LFA are two of the best sounding road cars ever!
Cool story! Can’t wait to get our grubby mitts on a LFA
Looks like a 2012 car... Hard to believe it's from 2002!
Still looks like nothing else on the road!!
3 soldiers of the 2000s
1.Ferrari Enzo
2.Mercedes SLR
3.Porsche Carrera GT
Agreed! Millennium Heroes
Replace SLR with Ford GT
Veyron?
Civic
La Ferrari!
Thank you so much for this video and especially for the high quality sound.
It’s our pleasure! Always need more sound!!
Favourite car! some journalists are saying on modern tyres these have become much more manageable, is this now the case? Wish the world would stop being so milage sensitive and you actually saw cgt or other such cars muddy and used...love it 💪
This is on the more modern Michelin’s and yes that’s right, they’re meant to more useable on the newer rubber. Must say it was rather pleasurable to drive this car as intended and get it all muddy!
TheSUPERCARDRIVER I think there is nothing better than seeing a used super car. Great video and keep them coming, think you guys are bridging the gap between you tubers and the magazines. Great to see 👍
Ask Akerr thank you buddy! Kind of you to say so! We have some mega content scheduled for the next few months.. including 360CS, Viper ACR, CCXR Edition! Thanks for commenting
Yes, the second generation Michelin’s make a night and day difference. The car is now much more predictable at the limit. Loss of traction is much more progressive than on the tyres with which new cars were delivered.
@@scd Thanks and keep em coming, your pushing out quality content.
EPIC scenery, EPIC car, EPIC video!
Very lucky for it all to come together on the day!! Thanks for watching
The king of supercars. Perfect looking. Perfect sounding. Perfect amount of malevolence.
It does sound sublime but it is a scary car to drive hard, but guess it’s part of the charm!
Such a stirring video for me. It's oddly beautiful seeing such a rare and legendary car being so well used. Definitely a dream of mine to experience something like this.
Think we all share that dream! Thanks for watching
Values will skyrocket in the near future. I believe they are heavily undervalued!
They most certainly are!
Love it. I hate people who buy spectacular cars like this and don't drive them. Kudos to this owner. I have always owned M3's or RS5's, one at a time and I drive the crap out of them for 4-5 years and then get the next one. Cars are made to be driven. Great video. Congratulations to the owner.
Life’s too short not to enjoy these cars as intended! Tbh it doesn’t even matter what the car is or the value - you’ve gotta find the time to get out in them
Outstanding video sir. Your opinions are on point in my humble opinion. Engagement in driving from the manual shifter to the engine is all I need to be happy ! Thanks for sharing and driving as it should be in one of the best visceral sports cars Porsche has ever produced.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! Agreed - what more could a driver want / need??
In the end, cars should be driven. There is nothing wrong about it!Glad to see people who enjoy their cars instead of keeping them into garages.
it is what it is all about! This is why we are called Supercar DRIVER ;)
I hope i get to drive this beauty one day, maybe even own one. Biggest life long dream to have this legend in my garage
Same here!!
This video is like a new episode of Lord of the ring. Bilbo is younger and has a short haircut and Gandalf is now played by a wizard-car. !
😂😂😂 best comment 😂😂😂
These cars are unicorns to begin with, to get a video of it being driven how it's meant to be is the icing on the cake. Great video!
And the fact about 20% of cars no longer exist! It was a pleasure to share this video with those of you who appreciate it
@@scd Extremely late reply I know, but what happened to those 20% of cars?
One of my favorite cars that I always forget about. I remember hearing one go by with a bit of gas it was amazing. God bless the owner for driving the car. Cars were meant to be driven!
You know it! Thanks for watching
I’m a long time afflicted petrol head who ask happens to love porsches and I’ve only recently started driving manual cars and all I can say is that the carrera gt is my absolute dream car right now
I rarely comment, but not only is this my fav Porsche and Car of all time; this particular example, with over 60k mi, is my fav cgt I’ve ever seen/heard about. I’m in awe of it so much more than any 1-off, Pts, low-mile unicorn out there. IMO the stories this car and its owner have shared are priceless and I have huge admiration for. Congrats to the owner!
Thanks for watching and commenting! The last owner was indeed a legend and used it only his intended 👍👍
What a fantastic every day review of a not so everyday supercar. No waffle and sponsored plugs like all the other so called "Super cars of London" not so super car channels. Well played. Fabulous car. Nice to see it getting used rather than being wrapped up in a garage somewhere earning someone already rich more money. 🙄 Thanks for posting. 👍
Pleasure paul! Well said and charles has never been one to beat around the bush. The car is not perfect and really requires some precision and skill to get the most from it. Nothing else out there like a CGT
I see Porsche Carrera GT, I click on it. It's quite simple really. It has to be said, there are few road cars on this planet that could rival that visceral exhaust note. I would say maybe the Lexus LFA, but even that pails in comparison to this animal unleashed in the way it was meant to be. Glorious.
CGT makes that V10 so iconic! LFA is epic too let’s be honest
Excellent video, super car, superlative sounds. Thanks.
Thanks for watching
Kudos to the owner for using a supercar the way it was intended. It's high time we applauded supercar owners for how MANY miles their cars have on the clock, NOT how few!
Well said that man!
Rich guys thinks that this Car is widow maker but no... This car is only for skilled drivers..
Agreed!
That sound! It never gets old
Agreed!!
One of my all time favorite Porsche cars of all time....they don’t make em like they used to
They most certainly don’t!!
One morning last year I drove to work on the Autobahn, when I spotted something flat in the rearview-mirror approaching fast. It turned out to be a Carrera GT, after it passed I saw it was being followed by a second Carrera GT. My day was made then.
ah no way! What an amazing sight that must have been!
One of my dream cars for sure! The looks, the sound, the simplicity of the experience, it really is one of the last great analog super cars. I bet it was a day you will not soon forget!
It is indeed! Thankfully we have the day in video to look back on! Thanks for watching
I would really love to see other car companies keep a true analog supercar on there line up. 600LT with a 6 speed for example would be a legend.
That would be lovely!!
@paquitos hammer that's just not correct .. This car has a formula 1 V10, 6 speed twin clutch, no drive modes, no stability control, you basically have to be a professional race car driver to push this thing to it's limits .. This thing is just the limit of what the 90s cars were trying to be.
If ever there was a fantasy car, high mileage Carrera GT❤️
True! Just need a 100k mileage F50 now!
This is by far my favorite yt video out there among the Porsche Endurance documentary or some Le Mans, NBR onboards...
Thank you
Thank you for this perfectly filmed and wonderfully narrated video, Charles!! I wish I could express to you how terrific it is to see a CGT being driven, enjoyed and having the mileage to prove it!! You certainly made it clear how much fun it was to have that lovely V10 gulp in that cool, damp English countryside air and turn it into real-world driving and auditory bliss by a TRUE Porsche enthusiast, not just collector. You made a dreary winter day here in southern Ontario much better!
Thanks for watching and commenting! Check back soon
Cars are made to be driven, not locked away in a garage. Glad to see that the previous owner of this one did exactly that!
Shame not more owners adopt that approach
Unreal, love seeing a car like this being driven properly
What mode😁... after all the CGT videos I've seen, finally a proper, raw presentation of the Dreamer that once threw me to my knees...🤗
You know it! Thanks for watching
Finally, a super car owner that actually drives the car and lets others drive the car! Excellent review of it! I forgot how much I missed that engine note...It's pure sex! I wish they would have put that engine in the 918!
Thanks for watching! It was a joy to drive it as intended!! V10 is a riot
best video ever for the cgt thank you scd i appreciate your professional work
Glad you enjoyed it and the car is getting the love it deserves!!
My absolute dream car
One of ours too
Thank you SCD for this fantastic video. This honest, true characterization of the CGT is the best I have ever seen. Thank you for conveying a little slice of what it is actually like to drive this car. Great audio capturing the best best exhaust note of all time! Would love to see (and hear) any other footage you have.
We’ll see what else we have to create a pure sound edit! Thanks for your comment, charles told the story so well and truly what it’s like to drive this car. We love the bit about the fact there’s no driving aids, you’re connected to the car and there’s not many cars out there that give the rewards when you get it right!
I've done quite a bit of work on that car over the years..
Was legendary in the little coastal town of Bridport.
Was sad to see it leave this area.
Cool story! 🙏
@@scd It was owned by the local scrap yard owner.
Owner sounds like a total hero!
He is!
Cars are meant to be driven! Love it when I see rare cars being used by their owners regularly
Life’s too short
That's the Porsche widow maker, it has a long list of people that it took to the pearly gates. This car is the last analogue Porsche hyper car, this car makes me hate modern cars with so much furious anger. Stunningly beautiful without driving aid, just real bhp derived from the engine rather than a computer chip.
My alltime car favorite. This car v10 engine roaring sound is timeless! I wish they create a modern version of this more than 918 spyder.
7:54 damm man hard truth, but today's flamboyant don't understand this
Simple pleasures 😉
Brilliant video. Fond memories of FINALLY unlocking the Carrera GT on Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 all those years ago!

In a way, this is like a McLaren P1. The wail from its V10 tells how much of a beast it is. Just like the P1's thunderous does.
*Thunderous growl
Jack Grady an interesting comparison!
When everything has gone electric and boring, this is what we’ll show our grandkids what cars used to be like. Stunning
Great video indeed.

this is one of the most epic cars EVER! this sound is still creating goosebumps.
It’s an epic car but not an easy car to drive!
So nice to see a car like this being driven as intended wish more people would drive their cars like this and the previous owner haha
If only hey!!!
Great video. Love the GT!! Wish I could afford one. V10 race engine, 3 pedals, and a Porsche. Heaven!!
Agreed! Wanna go halves?
Analogue cars for the win!! I’m not a Porsche guy, but if I had to get one it would definitely be this one. A true drivers car. 👏🏻
Agree about analogue supercars 🙌🙌
I wish the Carrera GT was more accessible. I think every car guy needs to at least ride in one or drive one.
We do too! We rarely see them and we’re around supercars every day
Just goes to show...cars...whatever shape and form they come in...are meant to be driven...especially ones that are as special as this.
60k Mile Enzo is needed!!
Great story! Great picture, sound, editorial etc! As for the car, well, I think history will judge this as one of Porsche's finest.

At two thirds the price of a 'lovely low mileage, NOT write off'.....seems a little dear??
My FAVOURITE car mind!
It’s a tricky one to price 🤷♂️
Finally an owner of a car like this that doesn’t think the car will blow up if the throttle is even looked at. The presents sounds like a great wirral/ Liverpool lad aswell.
He sure is!
A rare video. great job recording the exhaust notes.
Thanks for watching
Nice to know one got used. Easy for me to say that given ill never afford one, and can appreciate people can do whatever they like with their own property, but looking in it seems such a waste to just keep it in a garage as an investment when to me it seems such a privilege to be able to take one out and hoon it
Agree it’s hard to say what you’d do without owning one but it would a dream to drive it like this has been over the last 12 years

Glad you enjoyed it!!
I love sports cars with mileage on them - let’s see 100k miles!
Same here - my 2012 911 is daily driven and now at 100k miles. still as tight as a drum and I can't get my self excited about any new modern car that cost around GBP 100k because of all the electronic nannies, but also because the turbos and particulate filters have killed any aural pleasure
Just bought a widebody challenger. Plan on driving it (among other things) for the next half century 😊
Just amazing to see a muddy CGT, I actually think I would rather have a non perfect CGT. I get that when you buy a perfect car, you don't do these kind of things. Great to see (and hear!) this being driven all year round
True! Whoever buys this won’t worry about using it and driving it as intended!
this is a true drivers car. no DSC, manual trans.. U better know what u r doing if you wanna drive this
You know it! Proper analogue drivers car
Just the opening 10seconds deserve an award :o goosebumps
