@@glenm2113 Why do you feel the need to tell the guy that actually owns a CGT what he needs to do or issues with the car like he would not know already? Trust me he knows, or his service advisor knows, lots of people around him know.
I think this car was viewed years ago as a notch down from the Enzo's of the world. Now people realize it's up there with the best of hypercars of it's time. Prices skyrocket
The automotive moment, I remember the most and a moment which still to this day give me chills, is when I was around 11-12 years old. We were driving to Italy through from Denmark on summer vacation, on the autobahn, when suddenly I feel my fathers hand touch my leg, as I sat in the backseat. He pointet at the motorway access, where a silver Carrera GT drove out in front of us, downshifted and hit the pedal out in the 3rd Lane. I could feel the noise vibrate through my body and even the radio went completely silent. Such an awesome moment and a piece of history which made my love for cars. Today Im 27
Sam, I think you forgot to mention that, of all other hypercars of the era with the exception of the Veyron, build quality is just absolutely perfect. Did you have the chance to place and remove the roof panels? It's just amazing how perfectly they fit, how all is so rock solid while still luxurious and light. And that floor, those mats, the whole compact and hard feeling of all, nothing rattles, nothing feels like could be improved.
You're so right there ! I had a chance 5 years ago to drive a cgt for an afternoon, for a cgt it even had pretty high mileage, 18.930 miles , but it felt brand, spanking new ! No rattles , no shakes, no vibrations, no creaks in the dash, materials not faded , and it drove just like new ! It also had a gemballa exhaust system wich sounded just INCREDIBLE! this car has been my top1 dreamcar, and as they say, never meet your hero's? Well, i met mine, and it didn't dissapoint me ONE IOTA !!
That sound takes me straight back to the Top Gear episode when Clarkson reviewed it. As a 14 year old boy who loved cars I’d never heard an engine howl like that before…. Here I am, 18 years down the line and I’ve still got the same grin on my face as I did back then.
I always thought these were a relative bargain at $4-500k, considering you couldnt get anything near as special in that range. Whoever got one back them must be loving it right now
Sam your videos are on another level to the others. They have run out of content, showing new cars every 5 mins then wrapping them has had its day. Same goes with some of the other content. Your road trip style content is my favourite. There’s a reason top gear ended up doing so many. Keep it up
My favorite thing about the Carrera GT is that the design language carried through to the Boxster for the 981 generation....that design language made it a beautiful car for the first time
Great video Sam! I saw one of these in black parked on a street once, and no one was giving it a second look. I see that as a strength, because the Carrera GT is even more beautiful to those who understand what it is.
What contributed to the cars edgy behaviour near the point of breakaway was the tyres that it came on when new. Even Walther Rohl said that the tyres weren't great and he crashed at least one during testing! However if you fit modern Michelins it completely transforms it apparently. Reading Richard Meaden in EVO who drove them in period and later on modern tyres said it was a car transformed and he could slide it with ease!
Bizarrely I reckon this is one of the best videos you’ve done. Stunning car for sure, it’s a CGT… but your excitement & appreciation for it really came through. Really feels like we’re getting a piece of the experience! Keep it up Sam! 👍🏻
The Carrera GT my personal favourite of the supercars from that era was obviously the reason why you were there but thanks for sharing so many of the other wonderful cars they have. Your channel just keeps getting better and better 👍
The Carrera GT is one of ma all time favourite cars. Such a timeless design. The NA V10 coupled with a manual transmission is truly the icing on the cake. What a gorgeous gorgeous machine! 😍 I'm also waitin for the next Behind The Glass episode where Tony is gonna say "It's just rubbish mate." 🤣🤣
I love your style of presentation. You gave us the flavour of Spain, the roads around Seville as well as style and sensations of the 296 in your unique way. It’s why we watch. No need to apologise.
I'm a bit of a latecomer to your content. Been listening to BTG for a while now but for some reason not really watched STG. You are fast becoming my favourite channel to watch. Really enjoy this type of video.
Amazing car and great video. Thank you Sam. I'd say a manual R8 V10 Spyder offers some of this experience at a much more affordable level. At least, that's what I tell myself!
My absolute favourite channel. So enjoyable. It's like driving with you. Beautiful video. It's a joy seeing you Sam. You have to, test drive a Noble M600 ... It's so under appreciated and overlooked. Giving this one a thumbs up and staying subscribed for plenty more to come
Good job Sam it sounded like you really got used to the light flywheel quickly. A couple shifts in there were clearly confident and it warms my heart truly, I hope you know how rare footage of a GT shifting properly is on UA-cam. I'm not going to name anybody, but there are other owners on UA-cam that don't understand the free revving characteristic and end up with quite lackluster shifting and it disappoints me because I know I could do better haha. Anyway, thank you for being a proper driver Sam I've genuinely gained even more respect for you.
Did I miss it or didn't he show a start up from a dead stop? Then you could tell if he really knows how to handle the CGT gearbox. I did see where he says best to slow down and not come to complete stop. Boy do I know that. U spend your whole time figuring out how to manage that.

What a stunning collection these guys maintain. (P.S. take notice how, at 12:36, it seems like a clutch abuse. A multiple-plate clutch is not definitely suited to a hesitant operation. The driver has to be deliberate and quick).
Sam. You have been such an inspiration for me to start my own channel. Love the way you start each one with landscape and scenery. Just did one on over revs and would love your thoughts on this subject especially Porsches like 911 and CGT. Cheers.
You were right with it being the perfect supercar. I think of most people had to design their dream supercar it would come out pretty similar to the CGT
What a video, getting better every time a new one is online ! And the Carrera GT, my unicorn... ❤️ Thanks Sam 🙏 PS : am i the only one who have seen the two 993 GT's ? 🤩

What a special car that is. The carerra gt. I remember watching this on top gear and thinking this things insane. No wonder theyre fetching the bonker money now. Icon. Super cool you got to drive it.
Grew up loving this car but it has such a grim reputation. The Paul Walker accident, Jay Leno nearly putting it in a wall on a NASCAR track at 182mph, and last week it nearly killed Damon from DailyDrivenExotics but didn't simply because he wasn't going fast when his rear right suspension snapped. Hugely incredible car as it is scary.
Oh Sam you lucky dog! Still recall Porsche premiering this car at Rennsport '04 in Daytona. It was black & they had it in a very fancy protective display. Also a stunning red GT3 off to the side. But all eyes were on the Carrera GT! And the stories! Unfortunately I had missed when one of Porsche's drivers had it out on track wailing at full song around the famous circuit. But EVERYBODY was talking about it! My 2nd & last visit was a silver one like this again at Daytona for Rennsport '07. I photographed it extensively under the gray skies that came over 1 of the 4 days. Worked out perfect for this particular bright shade. Been at countless events there since yet not seen another! Btw Sam, they built 600 GT3 RS 4.0.....NOT 500! You're typically spot on(like that 39 were PTS 😲) so had to nail ya! But you didn't tell us WHAT shade that one was?!!! Come on! 👆😆😛
That car is one of my absolute favourite cars ever, and it trully is one of the best experiences you can have in a car, a real driver`s car. I hope the people that can afford it, will take really good care of the remaining examples, it is a piece of history.

So many cars don't fit the wheel design but the carrera looks like it's meant to be with that setup
One does not simply stop to film a 360 Challenge Stradale (even if it is in black), when there are a Carrera GT and a 993 GT2 in the same place.
I always thought these were a relative bargain at $4-500k, considering you couldnt get anything near as special in that range. Whoever got one back them must be loving it right now
Im guessing that price took into consideration the really high maintenance costs a super car this old has
