Jason is 100% correct about the sound of the Carrera GT. I was riding shotgun in an Ariel Atom on Laguna Seca and we were passed my one going under the overpass heading into Turn 6. I will never forget it. One of the best moments of my life.
Back in 2005-2006 I was taking a late night walk on Rodeo Drive when I heard this car from blocks away. It sounded loud but not at all offensive. The sound was unlike any car that I’ve ever heard. It sounded like a Kirby Vacuum. Sure enough it was a new Carrera GT in silver. I couldn’t believe it. The driver and his date parked right on the street, got out the car like it was a Honda Civic. P.P.S. the reason for cgt fckd handling are 3. 1) torsion bar set to hard = slidey snappy slidey everywhere. JOIHIINI it’s called sarcasm. Like when you forget about my original point because you want to see like the cool kid. Yeah the MR2 except that didn’t come with a V10 like the Viper or the CGT. Even though the MR2 is mid but are you really going to compare a Toyota to a Porsche - pronounced correctly. But thanks for playing
The Gim Designer I feel like my first comment made it pretty clear I knew what sarcasm is, your response not so much. And considering their superior engineering and racing history I feel more comfortable comparing a Toyota to a Porsche than a dodge.
Carrera GT are probably the superclasic of the future. The sound, the manual... when everybody is driving electric suvs, this makes the difference in the yatch club, to come screaming in something "man only" and with a dark story
I’m kinda glad I’m just finding out about these now. I’ve missed you so much and there’s been a drought of quality car content on UA-cam the last couple of weeks. So I’ve been hopping around, checking out all the stuff you did after motortrend (barf) and it is just bliss! You rock!
The tricky bit on the CGT is the engine, basically u gotta treat it like what it mostly is, a bigggg torque/not much hps race engine! that means u cant expect it to stick the tires to the ground when is on cam ( is like is on turbo boost basically, if you didn't know, and really u dont want to have full boost when u are like mid corner right? ), u gotta keep it down the rev range ( thats why they boosted the displacement in the first place, so it got low down torque ). 2nd gear basically don't touch throttle, 3rd is like for moving around slowly, and from 4th u can start take corners briskly, and will break traction if needed still no probs. High revs are reserved totally to straights, of course u can force a 2nd on a corner occasionally but on the long run ur betting on being chris harris AND perfect asphalt, tires conditions, camber setup etc. Also you'll destroy the tires, which wont happen if you keep 3rd or forth and still slide about moderately. There's a sweet point to change gear at middle-high revs for brisk road gliding, over that u lemanning so remember to use the power responsably.
In car videos, shorter [time] is better than longer [time]. One plus hours is way too long for any discussion, Jason. This is a very good video. Thanks...and it is always great to see you doing your thing --- better than anyone else.
In the UK if you want to sue someone you have to do so within 7 years, if not you are time-barred. It seems to me that Michelin kept quiet and waited to see if they were going to be sued (7yrs after production had stopped ) before making a tyre that actually worked with the car - coincidence? The Co. Sec. probably got a nice bonus on the basis that the Co. made a sucessful tyre of course.
Dear Mr. Cammisa, "happy (glad) eyes to see you" as people say in my country 🙂 (Serbia). In my honest opinion you're one of the best presenters currently present. Your place is right next to Mr. Clarkson, Mr. May, Mr. Hammond, Mr. Needell and few other great names. Small group of tv presenters, who can deliver true unfiltered emotion, honest reaction when rewieving any of cars. Once again thank you for come back.. P.S. Not so long time ago there was video/review "2017 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S: A Dogleg Makes This Sports Car Even Better", one of the best I ever seen, car for true petrolheads. Ok, it's understandable that that video will never see sun light again, but deserves to have remake trough Spotlight, dont you think..
And to think I thought it was possible not to want a CGT any more than I already did. Good job sir. There’s something about a car with a “reputation” that seems to draw car people in like a flame...
Great review! I of course heard about the Paul Walker incident (and also heard the tires were quite old at the time), but I hadn't heard the other "controversies".
I landed here looking for some info on electric cars but boy, this is such a fun video and information I don't need but is enjoyable. Great content guys, funny and informative. Lol @ the accents.
The boss from Bodenhaus in LA does have a Carrera GT but he did change the original suspension to a KW suspension and other tyres. The car is much better to drive and more controllabel now.😁👍👌
My understanding was that the Cayenne/Touareg was mostly engineered in Weissach with VW’s money. If you look at the layout of the first and second gen, they aren’t laid out like VWs, for instance the engine is actually above the front axle, with an actual transfer case sending power to the front diff that is separate from the transmissions, and a double wishbone instead of the Audi four link virtual pivot setup (diesel ones have an Audi layout). Great for the full loaded Cayennes, not so great for the Touaregs that had an overengineered chassis without any of the chassis goodies or fancy Porsche engines. Current Cayennes have the Audi suspension and layout and are indeed mostly VW based. Base Gen 1 and Gen 2 Cayennes and Touaregs are basically both Porsches with VW engines.

DIABOLICAL IS NOT ENOUGH CONTEXT FOR THE NEW TIRE! COMMON!!! We need that part to be revisited
Didn't the CGT essentially kick off Porsche's revival. They needed a flagship to stay relevant. Granted credit goes to the cayenne for saving Porsche.
If you’re a car guy, Jason tells the best night time bed stories. Keep up the good work Jason.
I’m kinda glad I’m just finding out about these now. I’ve missed you so much and there’s been a drought of quality car content on UA-cam the last couple of weeks. So I’ve been hopping around, checking out all the stuff you did after motortrend (barf) and it is just bliss! You rock!
This channel is so underratet. I don't know a single other car channel on UA-cam that combines effort humour so well
I just love Jason’s car review videos, they’re always funny but at the same time very informative and interesting. He is the best !
I'm old enough to remember when Porsche tried racing at the Indianapolis 500. It didn't go too well. Thanks.
4:00 where is the excerpt taken from?
P.S. Not so long time ago there was video/review
"2017 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S: A Dogleg Makes This Sports Car Even Better", one of the best I ever seen, car for true petrolheads. Ok, it's understandable that that video will never see sun light again, but deserves to have remake trough Spotlight, dont you think..
That fact that the body of this car is lighter than the average adult male in a first world is mind blowing.
Cammisa with a legit PGT review - who we kidding we know he’s a straight shooter - keep up the great work my man!
You are without a doubt the best automotive journalist! I appreciate your humor and dedication. You’re a legend.
The research Jason does for each motor documentary is so on point. Superb work, Superb. Bravo 👏
The stig on top gear(sacked stig Ben collins)spun one evo magazine said it's handling is knife edge sharp as well
I hope Jason can do a review on the MR2 as its 2nd gen was like this. Fantastic until it wasn't, has/had a very hard limit till it just then snaps.
You put Jason in all of these reviews.. and I'll watch every one of them. New sub... as long as this guy's hosting 👍
And to think I thought it was possible not to want a CGT any more than I already did. Good job sir. There’s something about a car with a “reputation” that seems to draw car people in like a flame...
These are becoming my favourite youtube car episodes by far. Keep em coming!
Great review! I of course heard about the Paul Walker incident (and also heard the tires were quite old at the time), but I hadn't heard the other "controversies".
Paul Walker died because he and his buddies drove like morons, end of story. The car didn't kill him, their behavior killed both of them.
I landed here looking for some info on electric cars but boy, this is such a fun video and information I don't need but is enjoyable.
Great content guys, funny and informative. Lol @ the accents.
That shift knob is the absolute centrepiece of the entire car.
What is the Porsche book in this video ?
Base Gen 1 and Gen 2 Cayennes and Touaregs are basically both Porsches with VW engines.
how does this channel "only" have 71k subs??? With this production quality, from the script to the actual footage, I would expect 1m+ subs.
Super good video clarifying a lot of contradictory information about that car. Jason you are easily the best modern car journalist, keep up the good work.
the song that sound in 6:14 is called "zombie raiders" by wave saver
Jason singlehandedly causing me to go to bed late and binge watch these. Epic win.
Did I miss the soundcheck or was there noone?
The MOST dangerous car ( with 911 ) !!! Excellent video !!!
4:44 I always come back to this video for this...
Seriously - the best car vids on UA-cam. I love this channel.
It’s tejysame with the viper, it’s totally fine until it’s not, the big wheels holds a lot, but once you pass their limit you’re too fast to recover
Great vid! How many clutch sold with a part# ?
I wasn’t expecting to laugh my head off when I clicked onto this video. He’s actually quite funny with the voices. Well done!!
This car is one of my favorite cars ever but RUF made a car similar with a twin turbo 6 cylinder and I love it. 😍
UA-cam👏 NEEDS 👏 MORE 👏 JASON 👏
