Yeah, i know you definitely know how to fish that lake. As much as you fish and put out content you should definitely look into one of those yaks. Its a bit spendy at first but it really is a game changer especially up there🤘
I'd really love to see you do a video on sight fishing for elusive wild trout. They are by far the biggest challenge and thrill in trout fishing. I usually fish on Virginia soil, where fly fishing is productive because once trout start eating bugs, they rarely go for anything else. But like you, I'll throw spinning gear-jigs, spinners, and so on-and sometimes it works (slim like lottery) because after so many casts, they get annoyed and strike. When I'm doing it, I cut the barb off the jig to keep them on edge.
I have been planning a sight fishing video but its one that takes time. The reason is getting decent footage. Im trying to come up with decent footage so yall can see what im looking at/describing, but I am working on it…slowly 🤘
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors The best time to do underwater is on clear water, and once they stock the trout usually sit still, then you can capture them on a jig. Just my two cents, since the only person who did underwater footage was Rodney Marquez- mini jig video.
Congrats on 11K you are so deserving of them. You have the best content on trout for You Tube. I always look forward to your stuff. Still looking forward to your float tube set up video.
Thanks brother I really appreciate that 🙏. That will be coming in the next few weeks. Ive already started working on the outline. Its going to be a floattube buying guide type video but I will also go over how I have mine set up as well as tips and tricks kinda stuff 🤘
Haha thats a real tough question, especially if your talking about one to fish everywhere. If just the sierra it would be brown trout, if its one for everywhere I fish Id have to say Carmel Apple. Honestly I have that one tattooed on my arm.
Definitely. I really enjoy going there from time to time but its so popular that it gets packed. If im goin there i always plan on getting there at first light
Another excellent video, and very informative! Convict lake is Cathy and my favorite fishing spot! Did you trailer your kayak to the lake, and what trailer type do you use Thanks Lee
Thanks Lee! I use a Malone Micro Sport Low Bed 2 Kayak Trailer. Great trailer but if your gonna get a trailer for the yaks make sure you get a “low bed” style trailer. The other style trailers have the kayaks sitting up higher so when you back into the water you still have to physically lift the kayaks off and place them in the water. The “low bed” style is more like a boat trailer so the kayaks will be touching the water and you can easily slide them on or off if that makes sense. Here is the link a.co/d/8p0HlPD
I have been fishing mini jigs (tube jigs) the last couple of years with a lot of success. I ordered and just received my new Katana rod. I have been using a 8' Phenix Mirage. Do you have experience with the Mirage? What do you think of it as a jigging rod?
Awesome. That Katana is an amazing rod for sure. Hope you like it. I actually never fished the Mirage. I have an 8’ Dragonfly and 3 Elixirs. All really awesome rods but the Katana is definitely the rod for me. Another rod that is relatively inexpensive but a really great rod for jigs is the 8’ Daiwa Presso spinning rod. The are only $80 but a really good rod for the price🤘
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors Thanks, Rob. I see that the Katana is rated to toss a 1/64 oz. lure. I wouldn't cast anything that tiny, but it makes me think it would cast 1/32 and 1/16 oz. jigs very well.
@@johnmach4985 wait till you see the Montana videos coming out soon. We were using 1/64 mini jigs in the streams and a couple lakes. Believe it or not you can get those things out there farther than I thought and the trout loved that extra slow presentation. I rarely use stuff that light but when the trout were being stubborn it really was just the ticket
Easily the Katana UL 7’6” with a Shimano Vanquish 1000 SSSP (Japanese) definitely on the more expensive side but well worth the money. I do an annual tackle reveal video during the socal trout season. Was there something you wanted to see more of like rods and reels or terminal tackle or both? ua-cam.com/video/z_Jp86ZB6fw/v-deo.htmlsi=8CQa0xnwIj3WWcCH
That area of the lake in the back by The inlets.... Always so good back there. You're doing it right in the yak stealth mode 🤙

I really appreciate it 🙏. Its definitely a beautiful spot for sure but when you go get there early. It can get pretty packed and parking gets tough.
Great video. Congratulations on the numbers. So well deserved. Keep doing what you do.
Thank you 🙏. Lots more coming for sure 🤘
Great video rob..congratulations
Thanks brother I appreciate it 🤘
Gret video as usual brother. I'll be at convict in 3 weeks
Right on. That Carmel Apple is deadly there 🤘
Love Convict. You couldn’t ask for a better back drop for fishing. If you could only fish one color of Spartan minnow, what would you pick?
