Indeed sir. Im waiting for the Trout West water bobber series if you wanna talk about a killer technique that nobody uses anymore. It was a killer in the sierra years ago, well its been “years ago” that I tried it up there haha
Ah I miss that lake. My folks had a place up there for 20 years. I lived there for a while. It was always a great escape from flat land life. It's one of my favorite lakes to catch trout.
We can use bait in most trout spots here in Oregon. My favorite rig is a small jig with 1.5"of worm threaded over hook, below a small water bobber. Fast action!
I also enjoy jig and bobber fishing. I have a tip, look for water bobbers. Egg shaped, various sizes, you put water inside for casting weight. Nothing casts farther.
Rob, thanks for another great video. A video on how you spool your reels with the Sinister Braid would be greatly appreciated. Tight lines Brother! 🎣 🤙🏽
Great info. We missed Green Valley while in Big Bear, but Big Bear was on fire! Lots of trout and Cathy and I tried Bow fishing for Carp, very Interesting!! Thanks again for the posting of your videos!!
Hey Rob, thanks for all the videos, great stuff, has definitely expanded my way of fishing for trout and my arsenal. I usually use 10lb braid on my spinning reels but it's time to replace , I've been looking at the 6lb sinister braid, is it as good as it seems in the videos
I just received the 6lb but haven’t fished it yet. I know the 4lb is alot smoother that the Phenix stuff so i would imagine the 6lb is the same way. Ill probably take it out for a test run on Friday
Great vid as always Rob.😀👍 You mentioned using the braided line with a fluorocarbon literature and I'm curious, does the braided line cast better with the lighter setups as opposed to using say a full spool of just fluorocarbon line? If nuthin else I'm also thinking the braided line would provide more strength to the setup for setting the hook, no?🤔 Keep the vidz comin my friend. Hope you and yours are well. Peace ✌😎
Yup, thats definitely the idea. The braid is much thiner than mono or fluoro and casts way better. It also doesn’t have any stretch which really improves sensitivity. I use the fluoro leader as the trout cant see it in the water and because it has a little bit of stretch and that acts as a shock absorber preventing the hook from ripping out of the fishes mouth 🤞
I typically use a 5-6’ leader but sometimes Ill tie one the length of the rod 7-8’. It really comes down to personal preference but minimum do at least 5’
There are some instances that you would or could go that slow like in deep water but typically the bobber and jig is much slower than a typical straight mini jig/minnow retrieve
Absolutely. Ive caught brookies and cutthroat on it. I don’t recall catching a lightning on it unless im forgetting but I know they will definitely hit it 🤘
The chemical they put in tbe water to get rid of weeds & algae was interesting. I did not know they used chemicals and great they found one that dosen't effect the fish.
Old school method that still kills it today!

Right on! That is most definitely on the list. Im going to be doing a series of shorter videos on spooling reels, knots, basic rig set ups, etc.

I literally just got some to try out so I haven’t fished it yet. That said I have no doubt it will be good 🤘
Hey Rob !what's the difference from 5lb to 6lb braid of the sinister brand ,I usually use (phenix 5lb.,) I'm willing to try the sinister braid ty.

@SeaSpankerOutdoors I'll get back to you after you're Friday trip to hear the results thank you professor Rob !!

@@SeaSpankerOutdoors thanks your the man!
Do you jig and reel in it at the same rate you usually do when using a bobber?
There are some instances that you would or could go that slow like in deep water but typically the bobber and jig is much slower than a typical straight mini jig/minnow retrieve
I’m ready to go again
Bro is that green valley....that place can definitely a hit or miss you gotta know the sweet spots to this place.
Yes it is. To be honest I do really well there everywhere except for the north shore line just east of the dam and west of the point haha
When are you going to Panguitch?
I leave 0300hrs Wednesday morning 🤘
hell yea! I’m going early June.
blessings
Never tried this technique. Will it work on lightning trout I wonder? We shall see…Thanks!
Absolutely. Ive caught brookies and cutthroat on it. I don’t recall catching a lightning on it unless im forgetting but I know they will definitely hit it 🤘
Would like to see this technique using, zebra midges, copper John’s, pheasant tails, princes and buggers.
I actually have that video on my “to do” list. 🤘

Yeah you would be surprised how many lakes need to treat the water. Lakes like green valley would be a complete swamp by late July without treatment
Thank you for all your tips and tricks . They are very effective when the trout aren’t cooperating. 🫡🎣
Thanks for watching. Hope it’s helpful 🤘
