We call them irrigation ditches. They're used to channel water from the canals to residential properties. They can also be used to irrigate school grounds, parks and other private properties. I can remember as a kid at my elementary school, on one occasion there was a school of shad swimming around in the irrigation water.
if you go down to alma school/bass pro st/rd/ave to where bass pro shop is. on the other side of T intersection to the east, the canal goes around a bend. its a nice quiet spot to fish in mesa. i just recently moved to texas. fished the canals for a long time. and the lake on the res on the otherside of the 202 and alma school.
Nice video again i only watch 2 fishing channels and this is one of them channel fishing 2.0 and greek fishing adventures but this here hes magical he goes to a lil spot and the fishing is good really good great video love this one
Awesome video!! I fish there all the time. I work on both sides of those properties. I don't know when you filmed the video but The city drained most of the water and removed all weeds in the canal.. a lot of the fish were killed...
first time I see someone using a lighter leader (6lb) on thicker mainline (10lb) is there a reason this I would like to know and learn since I'm also into ultralight fishing..
Is that right? Is that something new? I only ask because in the 3 years i have fished the canals i have been passed by hundreds of workers and they only ever ask me if i have caught anything. Or they just wave and keep driving.
I’ve never tried south of the next major street north of there. Now I will - with worms. Have you tried the spur one mile west of there? Looks dead to me.
They're loaded in there. Yes I was actually there the day they cleaned it out. Mainly tilapia dead which i dont mind. But i haven't caught any nice bass in there since that drain
Hello sir Love your videos but first I want to say thank you for your service veteran I hope you're doing well I was wondering if you possibly show us viewers how you tie your hook I noticed that you self-tire your hooks and I got a pretty good idea from watching you but if you did a little video showing us your process to secure your fish hooks on your bait and your lures thank you and God bless you
It's very cool that so many fishing opportunities exist in the hottest city in the country. I've tried fishing canals twice without success but they're two hours away from my home so not very motivating.
I would never think these irrigation canals would have fish but because of your channel, I have caught bluegill and crappie. I’m trying to land this giant Carp. Thanks for opening my eyes. Great stuff.
Im in AJ... I have only ever seen the SRP waterways... and maybe some farms using those mini canals that distro water to crops... besides who wants to sit outside in 110. If you want real fishing just go anywhere besides AZ lol. Even that lake, that you need a Tonto Pass for... Never catch anything in that dump. I was there when they sank all those trees for fish breeding efforts... it was cool seeing that lake so low when they did that... but fishing in AZ is the absolute worst. Im from Buffalo and Lake Erie by strawberry island... has massive 8-10lb bass. In the creeks they have MASSIVE pikes... and if you go to Sturgeon point... those things are huge as well. AZ just isn't a fishing destination...and the heat dissuades anyone from actually going out... not to mention the air quality here is horrendous... and with all these dirt storms Valley Fever is a huge issue!
We come for the fishin', but stay for that Shimano reel sound...
Is something wrong with his reel? It's very loud
@@dahlsalmon Nothing wrong with it, I just think it sounds cool!
@Nighthawke224 I'm just curious, is all. I wonder if that reel always sounds that way or if it's just his specific reel.
ICONIC
That last Bass was a grate catch!!!
Parmesan cheese grater.
lmaooooooooooo
Fishing the canals is always a blast so many species! From a bass fisherman and tuna boat captain keep up the dope content!
ONCE AGAIN DROPPED A BANGER
Thank you thank you im tryin!

That's exactly what they are.
Makes sense to me
You have to be persistent sometimes to catch fish. You definitely just proved that. Well done. Be blessed. My friend.
thats right! Thank you as always
That canal red ear was sweeeet
right? wtf was he doin there
I'm a local and I would love to go fishing with this fellow.
A cane pole would be a blast in there!
Right!
I wish Southern California has canals like that😢

Mark u should make discord like porter plz your one of my top 3 favorite fishman🙏🙏
Shoot I would man but i don't really have time for that rn. If i did make one i would want to be able to be fairly active in it
I thinkkkk those are the ones used for irrigation on the older large property homes! I might be wrong though!
You're correct. 👍
hey sounds plausible to me!
I’d love to see you get in the giant catfish game with lake Patagonia!!
Or Sauharita lake fishing would be cool.
Its so far but I haven't explored much south. I need to send it
I haven't watched you in a couple of months. It's good to watch you again. Where is your dog?
Welcome back! He is inside. Too hot for him
Amazing vid mark
Thank you my man
Pretty cool 😎 I use to live in az and I never thought to fish the canals
thanks! Oh yea canals are money
Wow! A redear fresh water tuna! Your good!
hahaha thanks!

Nice! Yes i actually came the day after they drained. I have that filmed and waiting to edit. i did go back when they filled it back up
I am more shocked that there is that much flowing water in canals in AZ. They must stay full of water like that year round too.
Any idea what condition that water is in?
Always drive-by that area on the way to work
Hey brother love the Chanel was wondering if you could show any west valley waters
thanks man! I don't fish west valley much
Your mom called. She wants to thank for getting a haircut and trimming that scraggly beard 🇺🇸
Someone has said, that a gold fish is just a carp with an attitude. Good episode thanks
lol true that haha thank you
Sure, nuf these laterals are loaded most people overlook these spots, some hold huge fish, awesome fishing carnal 🎣🤘🏽.
my bro! I see you been killing it in those small canals out there also!
Hey bud if you’re ever in the show low/white mountain area we should go fishing!!
Awesome bud
preciate you bro
I go fishing in that exact spot on Sundays after my shift around noon
nice! Have you got some nice ones outta there?
There's monster carp in there. I fished them in Mesa and in Gilbert
We fished in a little bigger canals. I fished in the Tempe man made lake there too.
heck yea the bigger ones hold better fish usually
first time I see someone using a lighter leader (6lb) on thicker mainline (10lb) is there a reason this I would like to know and learn since I'm also into ultralight fishing..
i only did that because this is a lighter rod so only rated for smller line and this was is clear so lighter line is more invisible.
Just a heads up..i work for SRP security and you cant park near the well sites or on the canals or drive on the canals.
Is that right? Is that something new? I only ask because in the 3 years i have fished the canals i have been passed by hundreds of workers and they only ever ask me if i have caught anything. Or they just wave and keep driving.
My man catches fish in irrigated lawns 😅,thx
yesssir!
I prefer fly fishing for small fish. I throw a black or red/black epoxy and and catch panfish every cast. In Kentucky I catch lots of longear sunfish.
Oh yuh let’s gooooo
yerrrrr
You need a aquarium to put some of the micro fish you catch in😮
Where do I buy a ticket to come fish with you? lol CopperState is right around the corner from my house so I'll be going within the next week.
Company i work for made most the advertising at copperstate. Lol, including the smoking missile
lol we are having another even here soon!
@@TheFishinMagician20 awesome

Also, they just cleaned out that canal. Lots of dead fish in the piles.

Fisherman are always looking for a bigger one. 🧐
Stay cool man 👍
yessir
Do a trout magnet kit multispecies challenge please.
It's very cool that so many fishing opportunities exist in the hottest city in the country. I've tried fishing canals twice without success but they're two hours away from my home so not very motivating.
shoot thats tough. Yes they can be amazing but also very hit and miss
Note to self always set the drag
Not a drag issue, a 6lb test rubbing on concrete and metal issue lol
I'm surprised you haven't run into a Karen who says you can't fish there.😅
i know right!
Ah yes… Karen’s the bane of fishing aficionados…
I thought it said canal's in Southside of Phoenix . I mean there is Cesar Chavez park
The circle k on 35th avenue and baseline sells night crawlers
were you related to dom deloise
Bro said a blue gill was a talapia😂
@@DavidFeliciano-v9b I assume you’re referring to the fish at 5:30? Definitely a tilapia lol
Good thing it wasn't much bigger. You wouldn't have gotten if through the grate!
right!? lol

heck yea! Fish every waterway you see is what i have learned from living here. I have been surprised more than once! Thanks for the support
six pound leader not enough with just a little line out
becausesssssss i wanted to put a bobber back on
lmao
that fish took you into that grate that is what broke you off the gate.
ooooo perhaps
First boiiii
dubies
They don’t call you the FishinMagician for nothing…..
hahah you got that right!
Maybe a turtle?
nah turtles dont take drag like that haha
Ain’t nothing wrong with micro fishing
indeed
That wasn’t nothing crazy that snapped your line that’s just old Greg
Dude catching fish in a lap pool.
Canal's are my favorite spots...people won't bother you thought your homeless 😆
lol 😂
The cork is to big.
That's a eater, Why didn't you eaten it.
Wasn't keeping this trip. I really dont eat fish often
Message I will send you some UK bobbers😊
lol
@@TheFishinMagician20 I could fish with some American tackle, you could fish with some uk tackle I can do a video and see who catches on what 😊
The fish that broke u off in the grate was probably a small gar or something with teeth, but most likely ur line grazing the side of the grate
no gar in here. just the grate unfortunately

Sitting outside in 110 isn't for everyone, but there can be some amazing urban fishing and big lake fishing if you know what your doing.
As for me I’m relieved that fish in the first grate got away, as it was prolly some weird toxic creature fish , a la The X Files !
LOL still wish we got to see it
