@@ralex3697 I know she does, I follow her career and fanclub closely. She is underrated, too many people don't know who she is and she is often overlooked by the media, she deserves far more attention and spotlight on her work, more than she ever got and does get now. She is an outstanding songwriter and isn't often held up in the regard she should be 😊

A few years ago my son returned from Glastonbury and said "Oh dad, there was this lady there and you would have loved her, she was fantastic". "Oh son, what was her name". "Joan Armatrading, have you heard of her". "You mean this Joan Armatrading" says I, pulling a strange black 12" disc from out of my collection. "Oh you have heard of her" he says. "Well, since she is one of the best to put music onto vinyl of course I have heard of her". 'Down To Zero', still one of my favourite tracks. And isn't it great that the (moderately) young are still discovering Joan's amazing talent?

I was 17, had just come out when I went on my first date with someone I wanted to be with. We went to dinner and then he invited me for coffee at his place, and played Joan Armatrading's 'Track Record'. That was my introduction to her music with a kind man who never took advantage of a naïve kid. He kissed me on the cheek and asked me out again. The memory and music still make me happy decades later.

    Oh the feeling
    When you're reeling
You step lightly thinking you're number one
Down to zero with a word
    Leaving
For another one Now you walk with your feet back on the ground
    Down to the ground
    Down to the ground
    Down to the ground
Down to the ground Brand new dandy
First class scene stealer Walks through the crowd and takes your man
Sends you rushing to the mirror
    Brush your eyebrows and say
There's more beauty in you than anyone Oh remember who walked the warm sands beside you
Moored to your heel let the waves come a rushing in
She'll take the worry from your head
    But then again
She put trouble in your heart instead
    Then you'll fall
    Down to the ground
Down to the ground You'll know heartache
    Still more crying
When you're thinking of your mother's only son
    Take to your bed
You say there's peace in sleep
But you'll dream of love instead Oh the heartache you'll find
Can bring more pain than a blistering sun
    But oh when you fall
    Oh when you fall
Fall at my door Oh the feeling
    When you're reeling
You step lightly thinking you're number one
Down to zero with a word
    Leaving
For another one Now you walk with your feet back on the ground
    Down to the ground
    Down to the ground
    Down to the ground
Down to the ground You'll know heartache
    Still more crying
When you're thinking of your mother's only son
    Take to your bed
You say there's peace in sleep
But you'll dream of love instead But oh when you fall
    Oh when you fall
    Fall at my door

I have loved Joan Armatrading since the 1970s. I was lucky to see her in Norfolk, Virginia on 11/12/1977. It was a smaller venue and I felt like I was in a room with her. Some guys in back of us started heckling her during a song. I don't know what their problem was. She just calmly stopped and said something to the effect of, "either they leave, or the concert is over." The venue security team immediately escorted them off the premises. The crowd went wild cheering, whistling and clapping. The concert was superb. I was just sorry that she had that experience in my hometown. She is a treasure.

We can't change the attitudes or minds of everyone but we can be an example to others. You town is defined more by you than them and yes, from someone born in the 60s yes she is an absolute treasure.

Child of the 60's and just found her TONIGHT for the very first while watching "The Wild Geese". Someone else "dis'd" the song. I replied very differently. I strikes deep in my inner soul. I can't explain it. I came looking for more. Holy @&$! She's amazing! There's NO denying. I believe I've just been born again. Tonight will be forever ingrained in my memory. Wow! Makes me pause and wonder who else is out there that I need to find...
