Oh my.... the number of comments to this song and video is overwhelming... I am moved that so many people share this masterpiece. We all own it together. How beautiful.
How hauntingly beautiful. Taking Joan Armatrading’s voice and song as accompaniment to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers’ excerpts of dance, to match its rhythm so well ... it is truly genius. I play it and listen to it and watch it over and over and over again. And have sent this as a gift to both my mother and a friend for their birthdays.
Oh my God... shivers down the spine. I'd forgotten all about this song and the memories it brings back. The 70's were my teen years and this song evokes all the joys and heartaches, tears and laughter of that period in my life. Thank you so much for this.
I love you Joan Armatrading. I'm so honored I once spoke to you on the phone - it was for work so you wouldn't even remember, let alone read this comment on some guy's UA-cam
This song incapsulates some of the deepest emotions of love. It does so in simple words and it does so more than once, making it an extraordinary experience.
The best concert I ever attended, the most thrilling, was seeing Joan Armatrading in a small venue in Pennsylvania, the United States. This was several years ago but I think about that joy til this day.
Absolute perfect pairing of song and video. Totally mesmerizing. Even when I listen to this song on other media, I see this video playing in my head. Great vision.
listening to this makes you think (feel) you are in a different world...enchanting, haunting, mysterious, sublime...the strings and horn are amazing...this kind of music is meant only for those who can truly "feel"
Beautiful song and video from a beautiful lady. She has git to be one of the most influential singer/songwriters of her generation. Have loved Joan forever
I came across the What Every is For Us album many years ago. I pull it out every once and awhile and listen from start to finish. It Could Have Been Better is what I would consider Joan's best song.
I love Joan Armatrading, and I have seen many of her concerts, but I always go back to this wonderful album, Whatever for Us, is epic, and it marked the beginning of a ending of what it could have become the best ever FEMALES COMPOSERS DUO, but Joan was chosen, and allowed Pam Nestor to be left out, I will never know the real motives, but I hope they have forgiven each other... thou I know how hard it is to feel let down by another woman, and especially if she is your partner... hope it all heals...thou It Could Have Been Better !
wow..the magic of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.. with a beautiful love song sung by wonderful Joan Armatrading.. the final scene ending with the couple looking at each other expressed the song very well
Paid attention to the dance...my God, so Untouchable for so many. May affection, attention to it, and the bliss uncovered be yours. Linda, be well kiddo...
wow, what a masterful compilation - their dancing is extraordinary in slow motion, and the song is one i hadn't heard of hers so thanks on both counts. i was riveted throughout the whole video. perfect.
Such a great song and such great singer and a really great video. This clip has been a standout for me since it was posted. A real wow moment when I first saw it. It's still a joy to watch and of course Ms Armatrading. So good. This is one of the tunes where she really gets a chance to show her skills and range and delicacy and strength. A real tour de force.
The video represents true Elegance, and Grace, so precise .The musical composition is so complimentary to the dance so beautiful. A truly great collage of music and video.
Man I am so with you on this. I am a huge dog lover/owner and I had to put 4 dogs down since 2012--dogs I've had for at least 13 years. I have linked this UA-cam vid on all four Facebook posts when I had to put my dear friends down. There is something about the song and the imagery of this beautiful dance routine that just seems to sum up both the anguish and beauty of our time together and the incredible sense of loss. I am humbled by this video AND song. Joan is a Goddess in my book.
+Noodleydoo this is something,,,I had to help my 18.5yo dear dog cross a few days ago and that is why I am here tonight. Without her in my little cabin in the woods. Gutted. Beauty like this helps.
It's credited to both JA and PN on the album . . They were a terrific songwriting duo . . . pity we didn't get a few more albums from the two of them . . . Seems that Cube Records were against PN's involvement, and were determined to promote JA alone . .
really amazing...I ve posted on her wall, so she can see how she inspires people with her music...thank you for posting this awesome gem ....Joan Armatrading is the best, and so was Fred and Ginger...
I found this in, of all things, an on line Catholic Hymnal, or perhaps it was just a song collection. I never thought of this in the same way that such a selection implies.
Well put together. I've known this song for 30 years, and it was from a 20 y.o album then. most powerful song i've ever heard. First time i've seen it with a dance backing though.
UNBELIEVEABLE! Thank you for whomever uploaded this . Both the music and the dancing are mesmerising - flawless! it's a gift to all who see, just look at it!!!!!!
Magic....auld school dancing with a "modern" song.........modern as in I'm auld so it's part of my youth ha! Beautiful dancing there though, romantic, in tune and glorious x
Wow, Gus Dudgeon really knew how to record piano. A much deeper range than the often plonky seventies sound from Queen, etc. He was a real asset to Elton John's best era too. Incidentally, in 1972 Elton said this was one of his favourite songs.
Perfection, the song choice the dancing the editing. Just perfection.
Oh my.... the number of comments to this song and video is overwhelming... I am moved that so many people share this masterpiece. We all own it together. How beautiful.
Yes, it is a masterpiece!
Thankyou for this beautiful piece of music and movement together they simply flow💕
This is UA-cam at its best.
my feelings were frozen, then I heard your music and everything in me dissolved and started to live and love again

Poetry in motion absolute magic by Joan, she shows us her impressive vocal range.

When I play this song I will always remember my mother. ❤
Es berührt mich so tief. Diese Harmonie. Das Spiel von Schwung und Gleichgewicht und dann dieser Song dazu. Ich kann gar nicht aufhören es zu sehen.
I wasn’t even born when this music was made. My father listened to Joan and other amazing artists.. and I never stopped listening after he passed

Wow. Me too. Butterbean Spice. Two days ago. 16 &1/2. Between this and Avicii's Waiting For Love (Lyrics), I'm undone.
facetothefall. is the UA-camr you should be thanking. Look at top! I congratulated you, on your inspiration, earlier!
She is genius.
Written by Pam Nestor (sp); Joan's first album, and best to my mind. And THIS song, The most powerful song i've ever heard.
It's credited to both JA and PN on the album . . They were a terrific songwriting duo . . . pity we didn't get a few more albums from the two of them . . . Seems that Cube Records were against PN's involvement, and were determined to promote JA alone . .
