He knows how much his music inspires people. at least with me he does. I met him four times now. I remember meeting him the third time. at the time I was sober for three years. I told him how he was my inspiration, to my sobriety. He told me that he was so proud of me and that I should be proud of myself. He told me to keep up the good fight and never give up or give in. He told me that I mattered to him and I was worth the struggle . He told me that he cared about me. Then he told me he loved me. He then gave me a huge hug 🤗. then said a prayer 🙏 for me. It’s now been five years. since I’ve been sober. I saw him about four months ago again. for the 4th time. I told him how now. I have been sober two more years. he again told me how proud of me he was. He said another prayer 🙏 for me. Afterwards he gave me another hug. He is an amazing person. I love you Justin 💙. Everybody reading this. I love 💙 you all out there. You are all amazing, wonderful, beautiful and unique individuals. Don’t ever give up the good fight. you are worth it and you matter. I love you and believe in you. I hope you have a blessed day. I hope you’re happy. God bless you and yours. Much peace ✌️, love 💙, unity and respect ✊

Justins healing journey has been amazing. My son was severely depressed years ago and I showed him the video for the song Fear by Blue October and said, "one day you will not be depressed and this is how you will feel, just don't give up." A few years later he sent me the video and said, "You were right." I can't even begin to tell you how amazing that moment was. If you watch it, watch the video where he's by the ocean.

Pretty sure this was a song about his divorce and how he'd wish she would stay since, with his daughter, there were 3 "in their show" His battle with drugs and mental illness were factors in the divorce though. He does have songs more specifically about getting free of drugs like "Light you up" and with Blue October, there is almost always an amazing live version. Any of the "live in texas" or "argue with a tree" live performances are great, but Justin Furstenfeld does solo or acoustic versions of their songs as well. I will gladly throw more suggestions your way if you dive down this rabbit hole, but for now there are already a few great choices in the comments.

This song is actually about when is daughter blue was born. In the beginning of the song it speaks about how him and his then wife and how it's about just them and their selfish ways. But then there is the moment when it's now them and their daughter ("now's there 3 of us in our show"). And how she made him want to get over his addictions.

Aren't they amazing? I saw them live twice and honestly I can't get enough Justin Furstenfeld is amazing.. I am sober 1 year and 8 months now but when I first heard them I was just starting to use and grew up with their music.. when justin got sober I was so happy for him and I wished for one day to be able to find happiness in sobriety like he did.. now I can honestly say I have and the music hits so much harder now then ever before.

Listen to Blue October "Hate Me" its real good. Ok I had to edit this to explain abit more about this song. Yes he had an issue with Alcohol...if you Listen to "Hate Me" one line in that song he says "Ive been sober now for 3 whole months thats one accomplishment that you helped me with"...later on in his career he was on tour with his wife/girlfriend at the time and backstage after the concert he was getting drunk and she hit him up infront of everyone that he was a hypocrite singing that song because he was relapsing and her words hit him hard. In this song he is singing about what helped him actually give up alcohol fully....in one line he says "and now its just the 2 of us" him and his wife/girlfriend....then at the end he says "and now its the 3 of us" meaning he has a child to consider aswell. Which to him is the biggest thing in his life that keeps him clean...helps him "feel again" and he hopes they stay.

I have been a Blue October fan for years. This song came from the album "Any Man in America". He was going through a divorce and custody battle at the time while being a drug addict. He is also has overcome severe mental disorders. Check another song on this album called "The Worry List". Its very emotional about losing visitation of hie daughter because of his drug habit. Also their most famous song is called "Hate Me". Check it out too.

I'm going to tell you why this band works so well.. The singer and drummer our brothers, and they have been the same band since high school.. And therefore they have all experienced what everybody personally has gone through in life, which I think helps enhance the song, because I think they all feel for each other situations which comes out in the music.....And I just got to see them at Red Rocks Amphitheater and they sound the same as they do on the record...... If you ever get a chance to see them you should

I recommend the live version after the mv so you can get a sense of the incredible places he takes the song to. Hate Me is of course another favorite, again both the original music video and the live version. You'll be blown away!

I am new here to your content... But I have been a Blue October fan since the 90s... they have had such a transition over the years from where they were to where they are as a group... so you will have multiple opportunities to see them in all of their versions if that makes sense.. just a tremendous group and they are just as good on the albums as they are live... Justin with all of his power in his voice and his expressive singing is just hands down one of the best I have ever seen... he and the group feed off of each other through their performances and it just comes through so powerfully!

It's simply impossible to recommend just one more song from Blue October. Their music is an entire journey through Justin's addiction, depression, hitting rock bottom, relationships ending, heartbreak for his baby girl, recovery, finding hope, finding peace, finding faith, the love for their (the band's) families, fighting relapse and depression, fighting fear...
If I may, I would recommend (for reactions) "Worry List", "Calling you", "Fear", "Home", "I hope you're happy (the acoustic version)"... Ah man, just listen to all of it 😁

Enjoyed seeing someone react to blue October. It’s always me and my reactions by myself when driving so sometimes I wonder would other people experience the same thing as me…it seems you do. Blue October is truly next level…his music is poetry and the poet presents it to us as music with a band. Nothing else like it in my opinion. If I started requesting you listen to other music from Justin the list would end up too long but I hope you do more of his videos. If I were to make a single request please watch “Only Lost is found”. One of the newer ones he’s written and I won’t say anything about it so as to not bias you to any particular interpretation.

@@BLUE_OCTOBER-TRIX thank you for sharing about your sobriety. It is a hard and narrow road that so many people I love have lost their lives on. My bio father died by getting hit by a drunk driver when I was 17 years old. I had to watch both my mother and step-father die from organ disease and damage that decades of opiod addiction and methadone caused. My Dad was 59 and Mom was 58. I had to sign papers for them to be taken off life support and watch their last breath leave them. That shit stays in your mind forever. My best friend for 25 years died of an accidental overdose at only 41 yrs old. She used illegal prescription drug that someone laced with fentanyl without her knowing. My baby sister's best friend also died of an overdose at only 22 years old. My baby sister's fiance was shot and murdered while hanging out with a person he purchased drugs from at only 25 years old. And the one loss that has utterly destroyed my life is my son, Keith, who died of an accidental overdose of methadone just after his 18th birthday. Still a baby, really. He'd never used any substances before. He was with his friends and they didn't even understand what they were doing, it looked like a few tablespoons of kool-aid in a bottle but that one sip took my only child's life and shattered my soul. And last year I had to care for my sister the last 2 months of her life. It was cancer that took her, but it was addiction to methamphetamine and really the underlying trauma her whole life that killed her. She was only 39. My kid sister. Living with the pain of these losses is unreal, but they each suffered far worse. I know what you mean about Justin's music being powerful. There are times when all I can do is lay unmoving with tears streaming, and some of those times listening to Blue October made me feel less alone. We are all connected. Our joys and our pain affect each other in profound ways. The darkest places in our minds can suck us in like a black hole, and understanding that was what drew me to their music.... but the light and recovery and SURVIVAL that sprung from the music in the last years happened just as I had to face all these losses. All of what I just mentioned happened over the last 8 years, and I am only 46. I've ended up on disability after almost taking my own life from the grief. I hardly get out of the house anymore, or really even past my driveway, but I went to the concert in a borrowed wheelchair. Man, it would have been something to meet Justin in person, but the tears I had during some of the songs they performed were cleansing and perspective shifting. I am sending you warm thoughts. I am PROUD of you too. I don't know you, but I am proud of the humanity in your struggle and your resilience. This life passes in a heartbeat. The pain we feel just lets us know we are still alive and fighting for the priviledge of seeing another sunrise.

I’m so sorry to hear all that. I have lost many friends too. From this stupid addiction. Actually as i sit here. writing you this in my garage, having a cigarette. My friend died in front of my eyes 👀, a few years ago. only a few feet away from me. in the same spot I am in now. his doctor cut him off of his pain medication. so he turned to using street heroin. It ended up being fentanyl. It was way too strong for him. He did way too much of it. There was nothing I could do to help him. but I can’t imagine all the other loss. that you have been through. I am really really sorry. that happened to you. You seem like a very sweet person. It’s always the good people. that have bad things done to them. Hang in there. It can’t rain all the time. it’s always the sunniest. after the darkest and rainiest storms. I love you 💕 as a fellow human. Your life matters to me. You are worthy of love. You are worthy of happiness. I hope you are having a blessed day. I hope you’re happy. God bless you and yours much peace ✌️, Love ❤️, unity and respect ✊

Justin furstenfeld (singer) battled drug and alcohol addiction, severe mental health issues, divorce and separation from his daughter Blue for years. His lyrics are often about those struggles and for the common person who has been through similar struggles he just seems to literally put words to those feelings we cannot express. The POWER of his voice reached deep within my soul and helped me get through my own dark periods in life, I can honestly say I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. I've had the opportunity to meet him several times and thank him for that, my kids are thankful for him too. Such a genuine individual with his fans and they really are so damn good live. Underrated band for sure, thank you for your reaction and please keep going down this rabbit hole.

Is this really your first tome listening to them?! I will never forget the first time I went to a Blue October concert… life changing. You don’t even have to have a history with sobriety or mental health issues to have a deep appreciation for his music. It’s insane! You have to go to a full band concert and also his open book tour which is just him, telling his life story and singing acoustic version and it’s also an incredible experience. It’s so hard to tell you which songs to listen to but the ones that come into mind are Bleed out and Fear. And honestly just make your way through all his music. He is touring right now and tour just started so maybe you can catch a show.

He is writing about the loss of his family too. The love of his life. The life they shared. His daughter. Being her life every day. How losing them changed him forever. But mostly this song, to me, is about GRIEF. It's about regrets. Hindsight. Growth, but also the sadness in things you would change if you could push rewind. For me, this song almost always brings me back to watching my sister die a horrible months long death from cancer after I had distanced myself from her because of her going back to addiction and street life. How I wish I had stayed in her life and not walked away. How I wish she had not walked away. How I wish we could have known the end was coming, but not from a terrifying horror that ate alive my sister in front of me that wasn't addiction or choices. I cry when I hear this song, and I remember watching the light fade in Lina's eyes and how she shrunk in the bed like a child, like my kid sister again. How it brought THE FEEL again to me in how it was for the two of us before life broke us both.

I am sorry for your loss. I really am that’s terrible. Justin is definitely amazing. He is really awesome with his fans.

One of the few bands that sound far superior live over the studio.
